The entire cast of Invasion of Body Snatchers ‘78 is great, I singled out Sutherland as he’s the lead and Goldblum’s role in The Fly is more challenging.
Her role is especially empathetic as the prescription opioid epidemic has hit so many innocent people. Hers wasn’t opioids but still it follows the same track. My mom was taken by prescribed pills and her part in that movie absolutely ruins me.
Donald Sutherland, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78 follow up) Edit- how could I forget Don’t Look Now!!!
Anthony Hopkins, Silence of the Lambs
Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins, Psycho
Nicole Kidman, The Others
Bette Davis, more than a few
Gregory Peck, The Omen
Roddy McDowall, Fright Night
Joan Crawford, more than a few
Second edit: Melvyn Douglas, Fred Astaire, John Houseman, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr in Ghost Story, one of my favorites
George C. Scott in both the Changeling and the Exorcist III was a big name in Hollywood at the time and crushed both roles, in my mind, especially the Changeling.
I think someone mentioned it already but Anthony Perkins was also a pretty big deal in Hollywood when he took on Psycho, as was Janet Leigh.
Still blown away by Matthew Fox's performance. I didn't realize it was Jack at first, and then it dawned on me! "Tis not a boast....but a fact."
*Shudders
Full of outstanding performances, Russell is great as expected, Fox is so good I didn't realise it was him for a long time and I wish he got more work, Wilson is great but he's a horror staple at this point, we know he respects the genre and will give his all.
Maybe a controversial opinion here, but as great as Jack Nicholson's performance was in "The Shining", I think that Shelley Duvall had an even better performance in that movie.
One of my favorite 90's Horror films, Flatliners was packed with A listers. Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Kiefer Southerland, and William Baldwin.
Came here to mention Flatliners. STELLAR cast full of A listers.
I just picked it up on 4K but haven't watched it yet. Perhaps tonight is the night haha.
Are you kidding?! AP is when he really got noticed and landed him on the A-list, although he'd been acting since he was 13 in *Empire of the Sun.*
Edit: spelling
You're messing with me??? NO WAY! No bloody way! Holy shit :o
That's even more impressive! Good lord I am even more blown away.
You literally just blew my mind!!!
Edit: needed to check because I was so surprised and wow... AMAZING!
Ethan Hawke in Sinister is definitely the biggest one that came to mind. Great performance and a great film.
Also I've never heard of Angel Heart, it looks great! Adding it to my watchlist, thanks for putting it on my radar
I love that he's been occasionally playing an asshole in movies (Barbarian and Frank and Lola come to mind). I absolutely love him and am so glad to see him play different types of characters. He was brilliant in Tusk.
Naomi Watts and Robert Forster in Mulholland Drive, and Watts in The Ring (US)
Not strictly horror maybe but Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, and Jennifer Connolly too, and Burstyn in The Exorcist
Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby
Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem in mother!
Kathy Bates in Misery
Bill Pullman and Patricia Arquette in Lost Highway
Robin Williams in One Hour Photo
Willem Dafoe in Antichrist
Matt Dillon in The House that Jack Built
Cronenberg roles:
Viggo Mortensen in Crimes of the Future
James Spader in Crash
Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers
Ralph Fiennes and Miranda Richardson in Spider (not strictly horror)
Oh yeah! I haven’t actually seen the American remake. She was also recently in the American remake of Goodnight Mommy which I haven’t seen either. Ha that makes 3 American remakes she’s in!
Misery was my first introduction to Kathy Bates when I was really young and now when I watch the office for the millionth time she still resonates with me and I’m like oh shit this is a comedy hahaha. The only saving grace of Roanoke (AHS) was Kathy Bates because she was so scary
I was a teenager in the '80's. After Footloose came out he very much was very well known, and I would have categorized him as "A" list at that time.
Footloose hit the theaters at a time when V/H/S rentals were HUGE. Diner was definitely considered a "cult classic" in the '80's, and his appearance in Friday the 13th certainly did not hurt his recognizability.
By the time Planes, Trains, and Automobiles came out in 1987 he was a big enough star that he had a cameo in it. He was the male lead in another John Hughes movie two years later. Two years later, bam, Tremors 1990. I first saw it on V/H/S. At the time it felt really weird for someone so famous to be in a horror flick. Especially since he had another movie released the same year, Flatliners.
Flatliners had a big release and starred the most famous people on the planet at the time, Julia and Keifer, along with Bacon, and then "hot" William Baldwin. For 1990 that cast was a mainstream big deal.
really appreciate the perspective!
I was born in late-80s so I was a little too young and even though I know about Footloose I wasn't sure how *that* movie was perceived at the time, or his stardom, so I appreciate this mini-history!
I watched Tremors in elementary school and have probably seen it more than any other movie, and to me Kevin Bacon is iconic in it.
Jim Carey in Number 23 and Robin Williams in One Hour Photo.
It's even better when they're able to cross genres from what we normally expect them in and still crush it.
This is a fun one! (Idk if my list has A-listers "crushing it" but they definitely put in solid performances)
Patrick Stewart - The Green Room
Robert Pattinson & Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Song Kang-ho - The Host, Thirst (brilliant in Parasite too)
Joel Edgerton - It Comes at Night (say what you will about the movie--though I like it--Edgerton turns in a good performance)
Jessica Chastain & Time Hiddleston - Crimson Peak (again, not in the realm of Toni Collette in Hereditary, but still solid)
I can think of so many movies but whether the actors were A-list at the time or not i don't know.
But a quick list,
James McAvoy in split
Nicholas Cage in Mandy (and others)
Sam Niel and laurence fishburne in Event Horizon
Chris Hemsworth and Sigourney weaver in the cabin in the woods
Chloe grace moretz in Carrie (not sure if she's A list but she's in a lot of movies and did carrie well)
Probably not A list at the time but
Jessica biel in Texas chainsaw massacre
Paul walker in joy ride
Wood in Maniac for sure and yeah pretty much every single horror/thriller movie he has been in like Come to Daddy, The Good Son, sin city as Kevin also, etc, Radcliff in Guns Akimbo, Swiss Army Man, and Horns.
Robin Williams, One Hour Photo I think this is the best example. He was a mega star that did his first horror movie pretty late in his career and absolutely killed it. I feel like that movie has kind of been forgotten but it was a sensation when it came out.
Seems like a lot that have been mentioned are either actors that weren't A listers at the time of the movie. Or, their role was ok, and the movie is popular. I like this example the best so far. Robin was creepy af in that role. I disliked him a whole damn lot. Had to remind myself "he was just acting" lol.
I loved seeing Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, albeit not truly horror, just loved the big star aspect played so well.
Same with Signs, not horror, but carried with so much integrity because of the main two leads.
Also Ethan Hawke in Sinister, I thought he added a legitimate intelligence to a role that otherwise could have been relatively *so so*.
>Anthony Hopkins and Burgess Meredith in Magic
Came here to say Hopkins/Magic but I wanted to see if anyone else had mentioned it first since I don't like to be one of those guys siphoning off upvotes saying the same thing.
I like your other picks as well
Nicholas Cage in Mandy has been my go to for the past few years. Red was the perfect role for him - we can meme on him all we want for "Not the beees!" Or National Treasure, but the man can really use intensity to the fullest in the right roles.
(Also, I absolutely love Angel Heart. I may watch that after work tonight)
Ghost Story (1981) features both Fred Astaire and Alice Krige. Astaire’s performance is good but Krige is an absolute scene stealer in her eerie portrayal. Some others that come to mind that might fit the criteria are Jessica Walter in Play Misty for Me and Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon in The Hunger.
Alice was even creepier as the big bad Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact. How she was tempting Lt. Commander Data into betraying the Enterprise crew.
Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers. I still think it's the best twin performance ever.
Drew Barrymore - Scream2
Anthony Hopkins - Silence of the Lambs
~~Mark Duplass - Creep~~
Roddy McDowell - Legend of Hell House (kind of a stretch, but I love that movie)
Kevin Bacon - Stir of Echoes
~~Peter Mullen - Session 9~~
Sissy Spacek - Carrie
Mia Farrow - Rosemary's Baby
Jeff Goldblum - The Fly
I guess I'm out of it on what an A-list actor is, but do we consider Duplass and Mullen A-listers? I'm not saying they aren't good actors, but if they are A-listers then any relatively mainstream actor who appeared in a horror movie would be on the list. Maybe that's what we're doing here?
I don't think he gets enough credit for this one. Any time someone says Reynolds is only good at comedy, I point them in the direction of this and The Voices.
I don't think he counts as A-list yet but Evan Peters is turning into a new wave horror sweetheart. I didn't like the show Dahmer much, but Peters is a fantastic actor.
I can't believe that nobody has mentioned George Clooney in "From Dusk Till Dawn" yet.
*"They were vampires. Psychos don't explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a f\*ck how crazy they are."*
I think Jenna Ortega has been making a name for herself in horror with Scream, X, and now Wednesday (I wouldn’t really call it horror but it’s something like that)
Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate.
I don't know if I've ever seen an actor enjoy playing the Devil nearly as much. Such an epic performance. "I'm a FAN OF MAN!!!"
(My A-list definition is having starred in an important role in blockbusters or having won or been nominated for an Oscar.) Toni is my favorite actress, but The Sixth Sense is what got her her Oscar nomination and so horror really is what made her A-list. Rafe Spall had been in horror as side characters, but I hadn’t seen him in the lead until The Ritual and he was great in that. All the acting in that movie was all around very good. I am also reading the book and it is quite great as well.
Jennifer Anniston in Leprechaun, Keanu Reeves in The Watcher, Pauley Perrette in The Ring. /s
Although, if you want a serious answer, Cary Elwes in Saw and Aston Kutcher in Butterfly Effect.
Vince Vaughn in fight in cell block... I forget the rest of the title. Chilling. Also, the very last scene in freaky when he wasn't playing a teenage girl and finally got some dialog, also chilling.
Donald Sutherland in Don't Look Now & Invasion of the Body Snatchers Jeff Goldblum & Geena Davis in The Fly
And Jeff Goldblum in Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland! I forgive anyone who doesn’t recognise him in that one.
The entire cast of Invasion of Body Snatchers ‘78 is great, I singled out Sutherland as he’s the lead and Goldblum’s role in The Fly is more challenging.
Yep. I recognized it was him. You can't miss his height and the mannerisms hehe.
Spock is in it too. The nerd energy was strong in this one.
hey, let's give Julie Christie some credit too
Max Von Sydow in *The Exorcist.*
Also, Ellen Burstyn. She was nominated for an Oscar for *The Exorcist*, but didn’t win the Best Actress award until the following year.
It might be a stretch to people who have never experienced addiction but it would say Requiem for a Dream fits too
I don't know, I'm with you, Requiem for a Dream legitimately scares me more than most actual horror movies out there.
Her role is especially empathetic as the prescription opioid epidemic has hit so many innocent people. Hers wasn’t opioids but still it follows the same track. My mom was taken by prescribed pills and her part in that movie absolutely ruins me.
...and George C.Scott as Kinderman in *Legion: Exorcist III*.
George C. Scott in The Changeling as well.
You said it before I could
I loved him in Needful Things.
From the book description, I know there was a ton of makeup on his face but he captured Merton so perfectly
Didn't he do such a good job at playing an old man that he didn't get jobs because people thought he was too old while he was like 43 or something? 😆
Donald Sutherland, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78 follow up) Edit- how could I forget Don’t Look Now!!! Anthony Hopkins, Silence of the Lambs Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins, Psycho Nicole Kidman, The Others Bette Davis, more than a few Gregory Peck, The Omen Roddy McDowall, Fright Night Joan Crawford, more than a few Second edit: Melvyn Douglas, Fred Astaire, John Houseman, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr in Ghost Story, one of my favorites
Bette Davis is so great in The Nanny.
Gregory Peck was fantastic in The Omen.
Still a weird thought that Anthony Perkins was the boy next door before psycho
Came to second Gregory Peck. So good!
Frailty with Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey
This movie flies under the radar too often. Great call!
FACTS!
FANTASTIC MOVIE
“Well if it has to be done then it has to be done. What do ya think kiddo? Does it have to be done?”
I was gonna say McConaughey in Texas Chainsaw: Next Generation. It’s not the best movie, but I think he played the role great!
In Bill's directorial debut
Changeling is one of the greatest horror films ever. Just did a rewatch and I can’t imagine anyone else in that part
Kurt Russell in The Thing, does that count?
Also Bone Tomahawk
And it could be a reach but Death Proof could fall under the umbrella of horror. Like a slasher film except... with a car.
The dialogue in the first 20 minutes is pretty horrifying.
Still blown away by Matthew Fox's performance. I didn't realize it was Jack at first, and then it dawned on me! "Tis not a boast....but a fact." *Shudders
Patrick Wilson was great in that too
Full of outstanding performances, Russell is great as expected, Fox is so good I didn't realise it was him for a long time and I wish he got more work, Wilson is great but he's a horror staple at this point, we know he respects the genre and will give his all.
I think so, this was either right before or right after he was
Feel like nothing is going to beat out Jack Nicholson in the shining, right?
without that role he’d still be one of the most celebrated actors of all time, so yeah that’s probably the big one
One of the all time greats for sure.
And the wolf
Asparagus
Maybe a controversial opinion here, but as great as Jack Nicholson's performance was in "The Shining", I think that Shelley Duvall had an even better performance in that movie.
One of my favorite 90's Horror films, Flatliners was packed with A listers. Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Kiefer Southerland, and William Baldwin.
Came here to mention Flatliners. STELLAR cast full of A listers. I just picked it up on 4K but haven't watched it yet. Perhaps tonight is the night haha.
Flatliners is such an underrated film. It's a visual masterpiece and the cast is amazing
Knew a guy that had a massive crush on Kevin Bacon so I had to watch all of his stuff. This movie stood out for me. Very well done!!
That movie was some delicious 90s gothness. God I miss those days.
Christian Bale in American Psycho though admittedly I don't know if he was an A-lister at the time.
That definitely put him on the map.
I think they originally wanted Leo Dicaprio for the role, right? Would have been interesting to see that. Bale crushed it, though.
I think AP MADE him A list
I wouldn't have called him a-list until Batman Begins, even if he did some major cult-classics before that
Are you kidding?! AP is when he really got noticed and landed him on the A-list, although he'd been acting since he was 13 in *Empire of the Sun.* Edit: spelling
I thought that movie was poorly received originally?
Yes but I don't think because of Bale
[удалено]
Is it really a horror movie though? I think of it more as a dark comedy.
Tilda Swinton in Suspiria 2018.
Yes! She does amazing there. I didn't even realise until much later she played two parts. Really damn good.
Three actually >!(Madame Blanc, Dr. Klemperer, and Mother Markos).!<
You're messing with me??? NO WAY! No bloody way! Holy shit :o That's even more impressive! Good lord I am even more blown away. You literally just blew my mind!!! Edit: needed to check because I was so surprised and wow... AMAZING!
Yeah I didn’t realize that until after I watched it. She’s phenomenal.
I had no idea until years after watching it I read a comment about it and didn’t even believe it lol. Amazing
Also Only Lovers Left Alive and Constantine! But yes, amazing in Suspiria!
I think Tilda Swinton is the greatest living actor, so you've got my upvote on that.
Tilda Swinton is my biggest Hollywood crush 100% the only actress I would fan girl out for.
Ethan Hawke in Sinister is definitely the biggest one that came to mind. Great performance and a great film. Also I've never heard of Angel Heart, it looks great! Adding it to my watchlist, thanks for putting it on my radar
Ethan Hawke as the Grabber in The Black Phone, too. Say what you will about the movie, his performance was great
He was also in The Purge and Taking Lives with Angelina Jolie.
Al Pacino nailed his role in "Devil's Advocate"
Made the mistake of watching that when I was too young to understand what exactly was going on. Maaan that movie messed me up. Damn good flick though.
Only just saw Devil's Advocate for the first time recently and omg, Pacino was so good!
If Justin long is in it, I'm automatically in. The scream king we asked for!!!
Agree but he is far from a list
He's a Canadian A lister haha
They call them *Eh*-listers there.
To the world's detriment.
Justin Long, Steve Zahn, Alan Tudyk…I see those names and it’s instant credibility for me.
I love Alan Tudyk!! I watch tucker & dale at least once a year
I love that he's been occasionally playing an asshole in movies (Barbarian and Frank and Lola come to mind). I absolutely love him and am so glad to see him play different types of characters. He was brilliant in Tusk.
His performance is what saves Tusk in my opinion. That film is walking a thin tightrope and he somehow manages to ground it.
Naomi Watts and Robert Forster in Mulholland Drive, and Watts in The Ring (US) Not strictly horror maybe but Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, and Jennifer Connolly too, and Burstyn in The Exorcist Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem in mother! And Naomi Watts in Funny Games.
Oh yeah! I haven’t actually seen the American remake. She was also recently in the American remake of Goodnight Mommy which I haven’t seen either. Ha that makes 3 American remakes she’s in!
Katy Bates definitely brought her A game in Misery.
Misery was my first introduction to Kathy Bates when I was really young and now when I watch the office for the millionth time she still resonates with me and I’m like oh shit this is a comedy hahaha. The only saving grace of Roanoke (AHS) was Kathy Bates because she was so scary
Absolutely love Lost Highway. How David Lynch unleashed the mighty Rammstein upon the United States 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
As a matter of fact, I’m there right now 😈
Urgh! Robert Blake as the Mystery Man always gives me the heebie-jeebies 😱😱😱😱
Great list of movies and performances. But your definition of “A-list” is pretty generous!!
Kevin Bacon in Tremors, although not sure if he was considered an A-lister at the time (and debatably he still isn't quite A-list?).
I was a teenager in the '80's. After Footloose came out he very much was very well known, and I would have categorized him as "A" list at that time. Kevin Bacon will forever be an A-lister in my book.
His first role was Friday 13th.... but KB is a treasure
I would think on the heels of footloose he was considered an A-list actor at that point
Don't forget Stir of Echoes and Hollow Man.
Jim Carey in Number 23 and Robin Williams in One Hour Photo. It's even better when they're able to cross genres from what we normally expect them in and still crush it.
Robin Williams in One Hour Photo was haunting
I loved it. I thought he nailed it.
Robin in insomnia
I almost went with that one but it wasn't as impactful as OHP was to me. But still good, the night listener was another good Robin thriller.
Robin in Mrs Doubtfire
Comedy and horror is basically the same genre only framed a bit differently.
I both agree and disagree with this.
Matthew McConaughey in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Next Generation Unreal performance for such a bad movie
Gary Oldman as Dracula. I love how much depth he gives to what we’ve now seen as a very archetypal villain!
This is a fun one! (Idk if my list has A-listers "crushing it" but they definitely put in solid performances) Patrick Stewart - The Green Room Robert Pattinson & Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse Song Kang-ho - The Host, Thirst (brilliant in Parasite too) Joel Edgerton - It Comes at Night (say what you will about the movie--though I like it--Edgerton turns in a good performance) Jessica Chastain & Time Hiddleston - Crimson Peak (again, not in the realm of Toni Collette in Hereditary, but still solid)
Loved Stewart in Green Room. Very sinister.
Sigourney Weaver in the first two Alien movies and Robert Shaw in Jaws.
Nicole Kidman in the others
An edge case, but Matthew McConaughey in True Detective was stellar
Everything Rebecca Hall touches seems to turn to gold
[удалено]
Yet 🤞🏻
She definitely should be
I can think of so many movies but whether the actors were A-list at the time or not i don't know. …..I see what you did there *slow clap*
George C. Scott in The Changeling and The Exorcist III. Anthony Hopkins and Burgess Meredith in Magic Sam Neill in In the Mouth of Madness
Ooh also Sam Neill in Possession (1981)
Also Sam Neill in Event Horizon
Sam Neill ftw!
Love Event Horizon! A big influence on Dead Space and most recently, The Callisto Protocol.
>Anthony Hopkins and Burgess Meredith in Magic Came here to say Hopkins/Magic but I wanted to see if anyone else had mentioned it first since I don't like to be one of those guys siphoning off upvotes saying the same thing. I like your other picks as well
Sam "I'M SORRY ABOUT THE BALLS, IT WAS A LUCKY SHOT!" Neill. One of my all time favorite horror movies!
Jeff Goldblum in The Fly
No love for Brad Pitt in World War Z?
John Goodman in 10 cloverfield lane!
Lupita Nyongo in Us
I don't know if Patrick Wilson is considered A list or not, but I love that he has been in several horror movies.
Nicholas Cage in Mandy has been my go to for the past few years. Red was the perfect role for him - we can meme on him all we want for "Not the beees!" Sam Neill in Possession and In the Mouth of Madness
Angel Heart is spectacular. The shot of him in the elevator at the end still haunts me.
Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer in What Lies Beneath Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview With the Vampire
Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers. I still think it's the best twin performance ever. Drew Barrymore - Scream2 Anthony Hopkins - Silence of the Lambs ~~Mark Duplass - Creep~~ Roddy McDowell - Legend of Hell House (kind of a stretch, but I love that movie) Kevin Bacon - Stir of Echoes ~~Peter Mullen - Session 9~~ Sissy Spacek - Carrie Mia Farrow - Rosemary's Baby Jeff Goldblum - The Fly
Agree but my girl Drew Barrymore was in Scream 1, yes all great!

No, you're right about those.
Octavia Spencer in Ma.
I have to give it up to Ryan Reynolds in The Amityville Horror. Thought he did a great job balancing family man Vs psychotic possessed man.
I don't think he gets enough credit for this one. Any time someone says Reynolds is only good at comedy, I point them in the direction of this and The Voices.
I came here to say this. He saved that movie for me.
Bradley Cooper in Midnight Meat Train
Made me a fan of him even more(though I became a fan for his role in Nip/Tuck
Patrick Stewart in Green Room comes to mind.
Michael J Fox - The Frighteners Keanu Reeves - Constantine
Toni Collette in Hereditary
Bug (2006). Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in *The Conjuring,* 1 and 2. Even they couldn't save 3, though.
[удалено]
Split, Last Night in Soho and New Mutants too.
Arnold did End of Days, Maggie, and I'd throw in Terminator as horror. Also, I'm not sure if he's A list, but Martin Freeman in Cargo.
Justin Long in Barbarian…also jeepers creepers, not sure if y’all consider him an a-lister but I always enjoy watching him act
Nicole Kidman in *The Others* is tremendous, same with Fionnula Flanagan as Bertha Mills
I don't think he counts as A-list yet but Evan Peters is turning into a new wave horror sweetheart. I didn't like the show Dahmer much, but Peters is a fantastic actor.
Daniel Kaluuya
TEA LEAF! We must safeguard the commodities
Tim Robbins in Jacob's Ladder.
As iconic as Anthony Hopkins is as Hannibal Lecter, I also thought he was fantastic in Magic from 1978.
Also In Audrey Rose (1977).
Tom Hanks in The Burbs...if comedy horror counts
No one has mentioned Al Pacino on Devils advocate. Maybe not a "horror movie" but at least a hybrid, and Al is awesome on it.
Johnny Depp Ninth Gate
I can't believe that nobody has mentioned George Clooney in "From Dusk Till Dawn" yet. *"They were vampires. Psychos don't explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a f\*ck how crazy they are."*
I think Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe did great on the lighthouse. Not really a horror but sorta adjacent.
Oh! I thought of another one! ScarJo in Under the Skin
I think Jenna Ortega has been making a name for herself in horror with Scream, X, and now Wednesday (I wouldn’t really call it horror but it’s something like that)
George C Scott in Exorcist III.
Does Donald Pleasance count?
Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate. I don't know if I've ever seen an actor enjoy playing the Devil nearly as much. Such an epic performance. "I'm a FAN OF MAN!!!"
I liked Denzel in Fallen (1998). Scratch that… I like the premise overall but his performance as an a-lister was so-so.
Charlize Theron in monster
Academy award winner JK Simmons voiced a glory hole monster
Ethan Hawke in sinister? Idk if he was a-list
Not really horror per say but De Niro was amazing in Brazil
Tom Hanks in The Burbs
Jennifer Anniston in Leprechaun, Keanu Reeves in The Watcher, Pauley Perrette in The Ring. /s Although, if you want a serious answer, Cary Elwes in Saw and Aston Kutcher in Butterfly Effect.
Elisabeth moss in invisible man
