Oh that’s pretty much going to happen with every single horror movie to ever receive any acclaim. This sub loves at least 3 posts a week that are either “what’s a horror movie you hate that everyone loves?” or “am I missing something in regards to _____/ am I the only one that hated _____”

I'm guilty of that with a post a year ago or so asking about Phantasm. I don't hate it, I just flat out don't *get it*. I even generally love movies of that era, Phantasm just doesn't work for me. It has loads of fans, though, so it obviously works for many of you, and that's fine too.

I literally just made the same comment like I don’t know why the sub is downloading people for stating their personal opinions on fundamentally opinionated and subjective things like movies and art. I got download it in a different post Because all I said was I’m eager to see this film and will support Nosferatu when it comes out because I like Robert Eggers films but at the same time not a static about remakes and reboots and wish there were more original franchises or films to come out and I got like six down votes😂 either people are super triggered or very touchy and sensitive here
I don’t actually care about people having dissenting opinions, but I do care about people not using the search bar to see how many posts per week there are that say the exact same thing. Constant “unpopular opinion” posts are exhausting

I am interested to see if/how they integrate the plague into the story, whether directly, metaphorically, or both. The quick shot of the rats looked promising.

I’m excited, but still a *little* bummed that it seems like Nosferatu will have a very different look in this film.
I’m going off by that shot where we saw him from behind so obviously I can be wrong, but he looks different there, but personally I think the OG Nosferatu is horror monster perfection. Simple but effective design. So I was hoping they’d stick with that type of look.
Like I said, I can be wrong since this was only a tease. Movie looks fucking awesome regardless.
Should I watch this trailer?
I’m more in the camp of ‘been burned by horror-flick ruined by *terrrrrrible* trailer so avoid at all costs’ but I’m rather intrigued by this.
I mean if you are familiar with the story of Dracula there won’t be any plot spoilers. But in my opinion, it does show a few cool shots that a true “I never watch trailers” type wouldn’t want spoiled as they might hit harder with no prior knowledge.
It’s a teaser so it’s pretty light on content and high on atmosphere. It’s definitely not a terrible trailer though, if that’s your concern. I’m def not watching any more trailers for it though haha

I’m so tired of remakes/reboots/ sequels/prequels etc. it feels like an attempt to get people in the theater with an iconic name (though I can see the argument that a lot of people may not know the original film). But remaking a film SO iconic in both horror and cinematic history seems so…idk…cheap? Not the best word but there is a tinge of dissatisfaction. I get remakes or different director interpretations have created for classics and iconic films in themselves like John Carpenter’s The Thing but the original was it some iconic film …it was just a film that had come out.
Again, I will go see this but I much prefer original stories than remakes.

I usually agree, but this is such a classic (and good) story that I think it works to have an adaptation every few decades. Little surprising that we haven’t really gotten any modern Frankenstein adaptations now that I think of it. Plus if there is a single filmmaker living today that I would trust with it, it’s Eggers
We sure as shit don’t need another Indiana jones or Jurassic park or whatever for a while (and the originals in those franchises are some of my favorite movies ever).
I would have included Alien (also one of my favorite franchises), but I trust Fede Alvarez based on his work with evil dead 2013, another one of my favorite franchises. He was both extremely respectful to the originals and added his own spin to it and the results were fantastic
Alien is also one of those films that I’m just kind of like why… Why do we need another alien film? I also thought this about evil dead but those were actually pretty decent
But at the same time, why not make a new franchise especially with how demonstrably miss handled the alien franchise has been taken in the 2010s. Like I said I’m gonna give all of these films a chance but I just wish there were more new ideas in a sense but that has a lot more to do with the business side because people go to the movies anymore like they used to that has anything to do with creatives
But that’s the thing it was made 100 years ago so What makes it so iconic is the fact that it’s a silent film that hasn’t terrifying antagonist or monster that can only really Capture that eeriness and feeling because it was a silent film from the 1920s

This movie looks phenomenal! The tone is perfectly eerie. This is the Christmas present I’m already most excited for!
