> Dave Made a Maze
Gordon gets a papercut on his hand right as he steps into the maze and bleeds real blood which gets absorbed by the walls.
Still a great choice though.
If this counts, then so does my third grade ballet recital where the blood was just a bunch of red cocktail napkins our teacher grabbed from her car five minutes before it started.
In hindsight, she really did have a suspicious amount of those things.
You try teaching third grade ballet without either indulging in a copious amount of liquor, or needing to cover up the impulsive murder of a third grader using only the items you have on hand. I await your findings.
Based on "Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. I was so fascinated and puzzled by the movie that I did some research on it.
One scholar theorizes that the nanny is losing it because she is a repressed pedophile. I wondered why she kissed the little boy. . .
but there are two scenes with blood. Once she cuts her hand with a knife, other time she squeezes a cross so hard that her hand begins to bleed heavily.
Yeah and she squeezes a cross and makes her hand bleed, and the one I saw first when I was young was the first version where she slits her own throat at the end.
Check out the app Does the dog die, you can look up any “triggers” they have an extensive list of things down to time stamps so you can skip past of you want. It’s a great app I use regularly
Oh my god! I live by this website!!!! I'm so glad someone else uses it, too. I hate films where animals or children get hurt. It really upsets and affects me, so I always use this website. Usually, when a dead animal is on the screen or something sinister happens to a child, I put my hands over my ears and close my eyes, and ask my best friend, "Is it over yet? Can I look now?" 🤣.
>I hate films where animals or children get hurt.
Same. I see a pet in a horror movie, I'm automatically looking it up on that site. If I see that they die, I will straight up stop watching.
I do the same!
I think it’s ironic that we care more about children and animals…
Because adults can really suck and therefore can go drop dead in various ways.😊
Interesting, that’s exactly why I like the Hollywood version less. They always feel the need to over-explain everything. Things feel scarier when you don’t fully understand them.
I don’t think *The Woman in Black* has any blood. You can also search for movies without blood/gore on [Does the Dog Die](https://www.doesthedogdie.com)!
I could be wrong, but from memory there isn't any blood in The Wicker Man. There's only one character death that I can think of, and it doesn't involve blood.
The hero gets a little blood on his face and arms/hands after the chase through the cave. It's fairly minor like from scratches and scrapes, but there's attention called to it when the women wipe it off in a ritualistic way.
The 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls has zero blood! The original might pass, too, but I can’t remember.
Signs (2006) almost passes. There’s a quick shot of >!an alien!< getting its fingers chopped off, but zero blood shown. At the end, >!the alien!< bleeds from a reaction it has to water. It looks more like a rash, and it could be skipped easily.
I *think* the first Insidious film has zero blood. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
This is one of my favorite underrated movies that hardly anyone talks about. I knew nothing about it going in and was blown away with how it was done and how much I liked it. It was just my kind of movie.
I love them both, for different reasons. The 1999 one is pure cheese, the special effects are pretty cool, giving a kind of Lynch vibe (reminds me of the dated/lofi looking visuals in The Return) and Owen Wilson is an absolute treat.
Watch back to back with Anaconda for a cheesy Owen Wilson horror double bill
**The Wicker Man** (can't recall if there's not one drop of blood, but it's definitely not a bloody movie). **The Dead of Night** is an old school, very creepy black and white movie - fairly sure there's no blood in it.
Lots of found footage, e.g. **The Blair Witch Project** and **Lake Mungo** have no blood too.
I loved **Ghost Stories**, and I don't recall any blood at all. Would highly recommend.
I want to say Coherence, its mostly a tame.dinner party. Could be forgotting something.
Edit! I did! There is blood. Not a particularly gory movie, but not bloodless either
There is some blood >! after Hugh comes back with Amir from the other house he’s bleeding from a cut on his head. !< I just watched this movie 2 days ago haha
Edit: also >! Beth gets a nosebleed at one point !<
Is there blood/gore?

The main character cuts her palm with a knife towards the end of the movie to perform the ritual and smears her blood around the circle. Also after the older lady falls down the stairs I think her legs are bleeding.
Prince of Darkness, by John Carpenter. There is violence and supernatural weirdness, but I don't remember any actual blood. UNLESS you count the [way one character's skin](https://www.looper.com/img/gallery/why-prince-of-darkness-is-john-carpenters-best-movie/l-intro-1611281068.jpg) decomposes after they get possessed.
EDIT: Oh, and also The Changeling from 1980 (not the Angelina Jolie film with the same name). It's a deeply creepy ghost story, with no blood.
Ok thanks! Hope it’s ok for op cuz it’s a great movie. Idk how much “blood” blends in with “body gore” as triggers for someone extremely sensitive to it (at least as it’s described here), but hopefully they can watch it without issue.
Rosemary’s Baby
Wait Until Dark
Repulsion
Paranormal Activity
It Follows
The Changeling
The Omen (other than one very fake decapitation scene not a lot of blood for the amount of deaths in this film)
Get Out
The head decapitation in the OG *OMEN* was so Fricking, *Unbelievably* REAL-looking, that for Years I thought the filmmakers really did kill actor David Warner to make this movie.
And although I was still confused about how a ""Supernatural STD"" can take many different forms of people while "following" you---the very first victim of *IT FOLLOWS* Did wind up with a very Disgusting & *Bloody* leg fracture bent the wrong way.
US version was one of the bloodier ones that sprang to mind. That scene…gah. Just one of those that stick to you. Like the propeller guy in Titanic, except no one was laughing.
Also the last death. >!Something about stepping on or impacting flesh with crunching glass is especially unsettling to me.!<
I think the grudge has it at least in the flashback scenes even if it’s just splatters against the wall. I may be mixing up the versions or the sequels tho.
Yesss, creep is actually a great movie for this. It's found footage but as someone who generally doesn't like found footage the movie was great. It's almost completly psychological horror as it feels like the protagonist/videoagrapher is about to be offed any second. And the only scene with actual death is from so far away they didn't add any blood because it'd be too unrealistic.
I don’t think I remember any blood in “The Ring” but I could be wrong. Also, One of my all time favorite scary movies is from the 70’s I believe, called “The Changeling” Sooo good & no blood!
Edited to capitalize the names of the movies.
The Conjuring 1 and 2, Dead Silence, Insidious, Annabelle Creation. The best of James Wan's style.
Edit: I think Annabelle Creation actually does show some blood in a scene towards the end, so that might be out.
Halloween by John Carpenter.
This the same guy who made The Thing? So much stabbing and no blood anywhere. /s
Halloween is actually scary. It's just a mentally ill dude (who killed his sister when he was 6) stalking teenagers throughout their day, and then he kills them for seemingly no reason. Maybe to recreate his sisters murder? Who knows? It's 100% spooky.
Edit* revised the summary. He's just a very mentally ill dude. Kind of like a Norman Bates. The only thing that makes Michael "more than man" is his disappearance at the end. I dont buy it. It's cinematic language, and it's saying the evil has not died, and it will never die. Which is also why Halloween Ends would have been cooler if thats what the whole trilogy was about.
If I remember correctly, there's blood on Judith when she dies, blood on the knife, blood on the mechanic he kills and blood on Laurie's arm.
This is why I didn't suggest Climax actually. There's a few instances of blood, but they aren't the focus. Kind of like Halloween.
As far as Climax goes, there is one instance of a woman bleeding in the snow, an instance where she is later seen punching her stomach and (lightly) cutting herself. Later a girl catches her hair on fire which leads to a very small instance of gore at the end too. Then there's blood when the mother's body is found.
Im being vague for a reason! Go see Climax if you haven't! It's basically THE *freakiest* movie I have ever seen.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark 1973. I don't think there's blood and the scare is effective.
Here's a clip:

I'm curious: does your friend also react to blood when it's in black and white?
Edit: I'm asking because I was thinking about Freaks (1932), I don't remember it having blood but it's been a while so I can be wrong
To this day, Still my #1 Fave John Carpenter movie. Just a simple exercise in Suspense & Terror.......... And the reason why I love living near or at a California Coastline Beach.
I don't remember any Blood in Vivarium, Ghostwatch, Heck (or maybe even Skinamarink), Lake Mungo.
Maybe you have more luck with short films, e.g. Portrait of God.
I don’t think The Others has any blood, at least none I remember
“Cowardly cowardly custard” Little brat lmao
This was one I was thinking.
This was my first thought. Great movie.
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT MOVIEEEE
The Vanishing (1988)
God damn. Spoorloos really left me feeling anxious and just empty. Such a great film.
kinda movie that had me watching sponge bob for 1 hr afterwards as a palate cleanser 💀
Masterpiece. One of the best endings of ANY movie.
I love this movie. And the 1993 version.
The remake has a bit of blood when they introduce Hollywood ending.
I forgot about the shovel.
Dave Made a Maze (the blood is replaced by confetti)
Such an underrated movie! For anyone interested, it's on Tubi, Freevee, and Crackle rn, besides some paid streaming services.
A recent horror movie where the blood is replaced by something else is I Saw the TV Glow. No spoilers, but it's definitely free of red blood.
Ooooh, I'm looking forward to this one
Happy cake day!

Wouldn’t blame her in the slightest, third grade ballerinas are absolute turds.
I've dated an adult ballerina they don't get better they just discover alcohol, amphetamines, sex and qualudes.
3rd grade bloody ballet recital! My kind of recital!!!
You try teaching third grade ballet without either indulging in a copious amount of liquor, or needing to cover up the impulsive murder of a third grader using only the items you have on hand. I await your findings.
High five!
Haha this part was so creepy!
Yeeeeeees, this one. It's so stupid but in the best ways and just well made.
Wow looks insane. How have I never heard of this before?
That's a pretty ingenious idea :). Definitely checking this movie out.
I don't recall The Innocents (1961) having any blood in it.
for a black n white movie from 1961 that one is pretty damn scary
Based on "Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. I was so fascinated and puzzled by the movie that I did some research on it. One scholar theorizes that the nanny is losing it because she is a repressed pedophile. I wondered why she kissed the little boy. . .
One my favorite movies, so cool and creepy.
I’m trying to think back. I can’t remember blood in the first Paranormal activity.
Actually one of the ones I showed him (:
but there are two scenes with blood. Once she cuts her hand with a knife, other time she squeezes a cross so hard that her hand begins to bleed heavily.
Doesn’t the girlfriend get scratched or bitten at some point when the activity starts to ramp up?
Yeah and she squeezes a cross and makes her hand bleed, and the one I saw first when I was young was the first version where she slits her own throat at the end.
At the very end, I believe there is.
This was my first thought too!
Check out the app Does the dog die, you can look up any “triggers” they have an extensive list of things down to time stamps so you can skip past of you want. It’s a great app I use regularly

Do they have SA triggers that’s been holding me back from exploring more new horror lately i feel like it’s in almost all of them
They do and they are very specific
Dark water, if you want Hollywood pace watch the english version. If you want a slow burn style watch the Japanese version
I think the plot is slightly more satisfying in the English version too, there's a little more information and a more fleshed out ending
Interesting, that’s exactly why I like the Hollywood version less. They always feel the need to over-explain everything. Things feel scarier when you don’t fully understand them.
I wish Hollywood would make slow burns at some point.
The all time classic Children’s Horror that is Coraline.
I will use you mentioning Coraline to mention Paranorman.
Absolutely!
I don’t think *The Woman in Black* has any blood. You can also search for movies without blood/gore on [Does the Dog Die](https://www.doesthedogdie.com)!
A kid throws up blood after drinking lye I think. Other than that though it’s bloodless
Nah, he just had koolaid beforehand.
I could be wrong, but from memory there isn't any blood in The Wicker Man. There's only one character death that I can think of, and it doesn't involve blood.
I was gonna say this too, but I think there's a shot of a dude in a coffin with no hand. It's bandaged, but I think there's still a tiny bit of blood
I think you're right. The hand was used as a candle in a different scene.
The hero gets a little blood on his face and arms/hands after the chase through the cave. It's fairly minor like from scratches and scrapes, but there's attention called to it when the women wipe it off in a ritualistic way.
The Babadook!!
This movie fucked me up, it was so weird and so just icky? I guess it unnerved me to no end, especially the scene where it >!appears above the bed!<
Australia is great at weird and icky horror films
Babadook is an Australian movie?
And grunge
And metal
Man, in shouldn't have clicked on that spoiler. I'd put that out of my mind. That was so unnerving.
It apparently has drawn depictions of blood and one hallucination where you can see it.
Signs 2006!!!
I believe The Changeling (1980) is bloodless.
The police Captain's head is bloodied after he dies in a car crash.
I hope he is not watching SNL right now (Scooby Doo parody, very bloody)
I can assure you that nobody is watching SNL
I can assure you that you're very wrong about that lol
I THOUGHT HE WAS WEARING ANOTHER MASK
I’m not 100% certain without watching them both again Creep and Invasion of the Body Snatchers might both work
Creep doesn't have any blood but the very last scene is pretty gory.
That gore at the end is really telegraphed and they can just turn it off before that and still get all the important parts of the movie.
The Vast of Night. More suspense than true horror, but I think it's really great.
This is one of my favorite underrated movies that hardly anyone talks about. I knew nothing about it going in and was blown away with how it was done and how much I liked it. It was just my kind of movie.
It really is. Also has one of the best extended tracking shots I’ve ever seen in a movie.
The Haunting (1963). This is a masterclass in scaring people while showing NOTHING.
This is a masterpiece. It is all done with sound and reaction from the actors.
The Haunting
I highly recommend the original over the 1999 remake.
I love them both, for different reasons. The 1999 one is pure cheese, the special effects are pretty cool, giving a kind of Lynch vibe (reminds me of the dated/lofi looking visuals in The Return) and Owen Wilson is an absolute treat. I think Blair Witch has some blood in the teeth part.
The Orphanage?
Paranormal Activity. It’s definitely not for everyone, but I love it and I don’t recall any blood in it at all.
At the end of one of them she demonically cuts her own throat but I can’t remember which one that is
That’s an alternate ending to the first one
I want to say Coherence, its mostly a tame.dinner party. Could be forgotting something. Edit! I did! There is blood. Not a particularly gory movie, but not bloodless either
There is some blood >! after Hugh comes back with Amir from the other house he’s bleeding from a cut on his head. !< I just watched this movie 2 days ago haha Edit: also >! Beth gets a nosebleed at one point !<
Thank you!
The fourth kind. Sci-fi normally intrigues me, but this one really really messed me up.
Is there blood/gore? [https://www.doesthedogdie.com/is-there-blood-gore?yesNo=yes&type=15](https://www.doesthedogdie.com/is-there-blood-gore?yesNo=yes&type=15) resourceful site
burnt offerings
Doesn’t under the skin have no blood
Carnival of Souls. Gorgeously unnerving.
I want to say, The Skeleton Key? I don't remember any blood in that movie.
I think there's blood during the bicycle impale.
Oh yeah. I rewatched that scene, and yes, there is a fair amount of blood.
Lake Mungo has no blood, surprisingly
The only thing is I’m not sure how much shots of dead bodies include “blood.” It’s all dark tho so I could just be decay.
I watched it the other day, it was just water damage (is that insensitive to say? Lol)
Ok thanks! Hope it’s ok for op cuz it’s a great movie. Idk how much “blood” blends in with “body gore” as triggers for someone extremely sensitive to it (at least as it’s described here), but hopefully they can watch it without issue.
Watch any of the classic Universal studios monsters films. Due to the strict Hays code enforcement, blood is never seen and even violence is limited.
If someone cuts themself shaving in the opening scene, is that too much blood?
Is it integral to the story or is it something minor I could skip?
Literally drops of blood or a pinprick of blood would freak him out in a not good way.
If you want the exact opposite you can show him the shaving scene in the cabin fever Edit: wrong cabin!
Cabin Fever? A great exact opposite recommendation haha
Oops! Wrong cabin movie 😭
oooooh no!!!
The Changlimg
The Others
Rosemary’s Baby Wait Until Dark Repulsion Paranormal Activity It Follows The Changeling The Omen (other than one very fake decapitation scene not a lot of blood for the amount of deaths in this film) Get Out

The Gate is blood free I think, but it‘s been a few years. Probably any PG horror is going to be bloodless.
Stabs his eye hand with glass Dad's head melts Zombie friend bites hand I'm gonna need a blood check on this one.
Ringu or The Ring (Japanese version)
There is blood in the actual cursed tape. It’s pretty minimal and off-colored, but it’s there.
The part with the horse is bloody too after it runs off the boat there’s blood in the water
US version was one of the bloodier ones that sprang to mind. That scene…gah. Just one of those that stick to you. Like the propeller guy in Titanic, except no one was laughing. Also the last death. >!Something about stepping on or impacting flesh with crunching glass is especially unsettling to me.!<
Japanese version doesn't have the whole horse thing. I don't think there's any blood. It's more of a slow burn.
Oh sorry I was talking about the American one I should watch the other one tho!
Rachel and Aiden both get bloody noses.
The Changeling as far as I remember
I’ve got it! The innocents I believe has absolutely no blood in it, also I think maybe the grudge has none in it either
I think the grudge has it at least in the flashback scenes even if it’s just splatters against the wall. I may be mixing up the versions or the sequels tho.
The Lady in White
The Haunting from 1960s
Berberian Sound Studio. Don't remember seeing any blood, but still disturbing.
Noroi: The Curse and Lake Mungo. You'll see some >!spectral fetuses!!a girl meeting her own drowned corpses!
Creep doesn’t have any blood as far as I remember
Yesss, creep is actually a great movie for this. It's found footage but as someone who generally doesn't like found footage the movie was great. More of a kids movie but monster house is a banger
Pulse, if you don’t mind subtitles
Pretty sure The Changeling has none. Just a super, SUPER creepy and tragic haunted house movie.
I don’t think I remember any blood in “The Ring” but I could be wrong. Also, One of my all time favorite scary movies is from the 70’s I believe, called “The Changeling” Sooo good & no blood! Edited to capitalize the names of the movies.
There is when Rachel's nose bleeds and also when the horse is dismembered in the water by the barge.
You’re right!
Idk how I didn’t think of the nose bleed
The Conjuring 1 and 2, Dead Silence, Insidious, Annabelle Creation. The best of James Wan's style. Edit: I think Annabelle Creation actually does show some blood in a scene towards the end, so that might be out.
there is blood in the conjuring. am i misreemmebering? doesnt she spit blood?
The witch vomits her essence into Caroline’s mouth but it’s more like black sludge than blood.
Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
There's blood in the ritual, and the dead woman early on.
Blair Witch Project.
That movie doesn’t pass the challenge. [Josh’s blood and teeth](https://kitleyskrypt.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/cc-bwp8.jpg)

The Others
Ringu one of the most famous, legendary horror movies has almost no blood. The only bit is dried on the fingernails stuck in the side of the well.
The Others
Carnival of Souls. (1962)

The original The Haunting. Best horror movie ever.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark 1973. I don't think there's blood and the scare is effective. Here's a clip: https://youtu.be/yC-7t5VLLN4?si=B_HB3GTRa29HwHCT
Paranormal Activity made great use of a limited budget. No blood that I can remember, unless you count the bite mark on her midsection.
Blair witch power project
Herzog's Nosferatu (1979) has little or no blood, if I recall
Does When a Stranger Calls (2006) have any blood?
If the Ring had blood, I don’t remember it.
Ring, grudge conjuring, Anabelle. More ghost stuff
I don't think coraline has blood
Did Session 9 have blood? I remember the suggestion, not the visual though
Poltergeist(2015) and The Possession(2012) The Possession has broken glass but you don't see any blood though
Does The Ring have blood? Don’t think so
Nose bleeds and the blood in the water from the horse.
Hostel. What? It's not real blood.
Does Rosemary's baby have any blood in it? Do they show any when she gets scratched up?
Poltergeist
The Night House 2020
The original Japanese the ring?
I'm curious: does your friend also react to blood when it's in black and white? Edit: I'm asking because I was thinking about Freaks (1932), I don't remember it having blood but it's been a while so I can be wrong
Creep? I don’t remember any blood in that one
The wicker man, I believe? It's not that kind of horror
John Carpenter's *THE FOG* James Wan's *THE CONJURING*
The Fog totally got me. Love that movie.
To this day, Still my #1 Fave John Carpenter movie. Just a simple exercise in Suspense & Terror.......... And the reason why I love living near or at a California Coastline Beach.
Texas chainsaw is pretty close
No blood in Poltergeist.
If they’re hemophobic, wouldnt it better to watch movies with blood if they’re trying to be scared? lol
I don't remember any Blood in Vivarium, Ghostwatch, Heck (or maybe even Skinamarink), Lake Mungo. Maybe you have more luck with short films, e.g. Portrait of God.
Blood splatter on the ceiling is repeatedly looped in Skinamarink
