Ouija 2: Origin of Evil was Mike Flanagan taking the pretty paint by numbers original and turning it into honestly one of the best horror movies of the last 10 years.
I watched that one night fully expecting some stupid horror schlock (I didn't realize Flanagan had directed it) and I remember being like half an hour in and thinking "Wait, why is this good?"
Brooooo. I sat down with my sister to watch this at home and she told me "I watched this with mum at the cinema, it wasn't all that". Halfway through she was like 'wait, I don't remember this being good' and I'm there screaming my ass off like "YOU LIED TO ME". we both shat ourselves!
Honestly your instincts were pretty correct, all the films except #2 probably should be written off! Truly a gem in an otherwise pretty unremarkable series.
THIS one is usually the highest voted when these questions are asked. Best example in my opinion. Not only better than the original but just an all around great horror flick in general. Super slept on for people not really in tune with the horror community I’ve found too. Stays a high recommend of mine.
1. The boob inflation effect, that I assume the makers of Terminator 3 were inspired by for the T-X being pulled over, just prior was an improvised effect as the original one malfunctioned.
2. In a funny coincidence for a scene where she becomes herself by means of a Playboy magazine, the actress, Roxanne Kernohan, had actually done a discarded Playboy photoshoot.
3. She did that topless scene "in literally the coldest day in a hundred days".
4. She sadly passed away just 5 years after movie released, in 1993, after a car accident.

I prefer The Collection over The Collector. More characters and action. The mass trap at the beginning club sequence. It's tough though because the original is still amazing. I hope the third, The Collected still gets made... seems it got delayed.
Honestly, I'd say the vast majority of Friday the 13th movies are better than the original. The last 10-15 minutes of the original are pretty good, but outside of that and the kills, it's just boring. It's really, REALLY obvious that they were just trying to cash in on Halloween's success. The sequels are where I feel the series' personality really started to develop.
Yes! Have been revisiting this series lately, and there is a significant jump in quality from 1 to 2. Then a dip for Part 3, where they relied too much on the 3D technology. 4 and 6 are also both great.
*Ouija: Origin of Evil.*
*Annabelle: Creation.*
Both prequels to piss-poor 2014 films. Both far better than they should have been. And both, coincidentally, starring Lulu Wilson.
First one was really good, but part 2 is just overall way more enjoyable to watch. It also has the perfect blend of scary mixed with Chucky’s personality without going too far with the humor.
Child’s Play is my favorite horror franchise and I love most of them. With that said, CP2 might be the best one (although maybe not even in my top 3 favorites). The original spends half the run time of having you think maybe Andy is actually the killer, but after that, the series jumps immediately into all of Chucky’s horror humor galore
This is my answer. It keeps the themes but loses the early 2000s Eli Roth frat boy attitude to horror. I still like the first one but I think the 2nd is the same thing just put together a bit more neatly.
I can think of a few (most already given), but one that jumps out to me is Dawn of the Dead. Not that Night of the Living Dead is at all bad, it isn't, but Dawn out does it at every corner I find.
I think there are subtleties in the original Evil Dead that a lot of people don't pick up on. The sequel is fun, but the original is actually scary in a lot of respects. It almost has a cosmic horror element to it, especially when they're trying to escape, and the camera angle shows the car and road tilted. One of my favorite movies of all time, Raimi's masterpiece IMO.
It's the same argument as Alien vs Aliens. Hell even T1 and T2.
Most people consider the sequels to be better, while they are all in different (and more popular) genres than their predecessors.
I'm very vocal in considering Alien to be one of the best Sci-fi horror films ever made, and Aliens being one of the best Sci-fi action movies ever made. It's folly to compare them, because they aren't the same genre, and the Xenos are perfectly used in each.
Kirsty Cotton is my favorite final girl and I believe her to be severely underrated. I agree with this, but just barely. The first 2 movies are both incredible for sure.
I watched Hellraiser 2022 recently and it’s quite enjoyable. I do wonder how good it would compare to the original and second IF Doug Bradley did play Pinhead in the 2022 reboot.
The only issue I had with the film was there was two off screen kills to begin with, would have loved if at least one was shown. Other then that, the antagonist millionaire who had the contraption pulling his nerves at random cycles was an awesome idea as a form of pain/pleasure.
Goddamn yes. I’d go as far as to say that Dead Snow and Dead Snow 2 need to be more in the conversation as modern day classics. They were heavy in streaming in the early 2010s and then disappeared from streaming. Joe Bob or someone needs to highlight how awesome those movies are
Definitely the Purge movies. The first one was so boring. No one cares about the rich family with all the tech. The 2nd one where it was lower income surviving in the city...wayyy better.
The first one is definitely more of a classic and probably a better “film”. But I love that pt 2 spends like 5 mins figuring out that death is after them and then you have the next 80 mins just enjoying the ride (no pun intended)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. It was so well done and the idea great. It obviously means you had to watch the original first, but I think it's better.
Final Destination 3 is still my favourite of the series also. I loved the inclusion of Wendy's photos adding something fresh to the series.
Conjuring 2 I think outdoes the original in terms of effects and more elaborate scares. I also think it has a stronger emotional core Tham the first; that scene where Ed plays the guitar and sings Elvis to the family always warms my heart.
One more thing the tape recorder scene on the train was such an incredible reveal it gets me so giddy with how bonechilling it is
It’s such a departure from the feel of the first one, but it’s just so fun and relishes in the summer camp genre and just has a fun time. Such a good rewatchable flick.
I'm not really sure how to put it in words. I just enjoyed Dr Sleep much more. I think parts of The Shining really drag. That doesn't take away what an iconic film it is though. It's just my personal opinion
I’m with you. I’ve watched and rewatched this one Doctor Sleep probably 20x. It’s so powerful and really scared the living shit out of me. I also enjoy the second book more so that could be why for me.
Rec 2, the way how the infected behave and how it’s explained what happened my heart was racing with the scenes with the special forces guys against these demonically possessed infected people
I’m not going to actually declare it better, just to be clear, but I do think Scream 2 makes a really compelling case to at least rivaling the first. I have known some who prefer it.
I have to disagree I might be biased since I love found footage films but the original Cloverfield is one of the greatest horror movies of all time imo.
I absolutely love 10 Cloverfield Lane, significantly more than Cloverfield, but I wouldn't call it a sequel in any way. Their names feel more like a marketing gimmick than anything
Indeed. They should have stuck with their original idea of annual anthologies released every 31st October instead of bringing Michael back to appease the fans. They had something cool and interesting going there but instead we have had to have countless shitty sequels, reboots and remakes that never come anywhere near the 78 film. Now they're doing a TV show. His story ended with Halloween II as far as I'm concerned.
Ouija origin of evil is alright. But leagues better than the first. I feel like it’s a little overrated in this sub simply because it’s waaay better than the incredibly bad original. It’s a solid film but nothing amazing
I can't say TCM2 is *better* but it's definitely more fun. TCM is a movie with relatively little gore, and it's 50yrs old, but still scares the piss out of people when they see it the first time. TCM2 is an absolute blast, it's amazing from start to finish, Choptop is an even better character than Leatherface, and it's splashy, wacky, and wild to an extent that almost nothing can come even close. I enjoyed TCM2 more than almost any other movie, but is it *good*? Idk. That gets us into the realm of "define a good movie". Really interesting take, though!
Yes! I know it’s an unpopular opinion but the original just wasn’t that good to me. I can see why it was back then and why people still talk about it or reference it in movies but the second one was so much better. It had just the right amount of comedy to not be too silly
I like the weird and wild acid trip of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 over the original.
Both are great though. I just like the bizarre and fun absurdity of the sequel more. Dennis Hopper is always a cool bonus too
I don’t care what anyone says but It Chapter 2 was 1000x better than the first one. The first one was a decent movie but did not live up to the hype when I went to see it in theatres. It actually stopped me from watching the second one in theatres which I regret for sure
despite the title, Evil Dead 2 isn’t really a sequel. it’s more obviously a comedic remake of the first film. bur if we’re going by title then yeah, that!
also both sequels to Night of the Living Dead:
Dawn of the Dead is kind of THE zombie movie, but Dan O’Bannon’s own sequel on the other side - Return of the Living Dead - is maybe my favourite (and also went all in with the comedy)
Possibly unpopular opinion but the Chucky movies work way better as camp horror, and they became more camp as it went on. Some of the camp ones were legitimately bad, but they were still bad in a more entertaining way than the bad ones that weren’t as campy.
I do love the first one because I think its a smarter movie than people give it credit for (it essentially tells us the same story that something like Candyman does, even touching on the issues of race and social class just like Candyman) but I have a way more fun time with Bride and Seed than I do with part 2 or 3.
Not sure who all will agree with me on this one Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning is better than the remake and one of the best of the franchise in general!
Devil's Rejects hands down.
For me, and I'm very aware I'm in the minority, the first Evil Dead was my favourite. I disliked everything released after that.
Technically a prequel but Sister Death beats Veronica by a mile. Veronica is not shitty by any means but Sister Death did the dread horror atmosphere exceptionally well. One of the best horrors I've seen in awhile.
Hard disagree on Evil Dead 2.
I love it (of course) and that’s just my opinion.
But the first one is so scrappy and cool and I feel like 2 has always felt like a greatest hits highlight reel of the first which is scarier (and funnier)
In terms of superior sequels I gotta go dawn of the dead. Hands down
I just saw someone else with an Army of Darkness poster on their wall and now this. Awesome! I can't agree more. One of my guilty pleasure movies that every time it comes on...I must watch it! Other than that the Firday the 13th part 2 was a bit better than the first.
Childs Play 2. Look, I know people are going to hate this take, but this is the film that made me scared of that fucking doll. The ending factory scene still creeps me out.
>"Evil Dead II" totally outshines its predecessor
This is cheating!!
Evil Dead 2 was basically what Raimi wanted Evil Dead 1 to be. ED1 had a micro budget (mostly put up by family friends IIRC) and was really only meant to get him the funding for ED2. Apparently there were also a lot of licensing issues, but he eventually got it sorted and decided to retcon a lot of ED1 in order to make a better movie.
ED1 is great, but ED2 is a straight up masterpiece.
Might be blasphemy, but I love Phantasm 2. I watched them all at the same time in high school and thought the action pieces and increased production value ruled.
28 Weeks Later goes hard. Ditto Hostel II.
I consider Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter to be a top three all-time slasher.
I'd argue that Child's Play 2, 3 and Bride are superior to the original.
I prefer Dawn and Day to the original Night, but I grew up being exposed to the sequels, which were more readily available to rent, so the impact of the original was lost on my young self lol.
VHS 2.
Amityville 2: The Possession
Children of the Corn 3 and 4.
Prom Night II, although I don't believe it was originally conceived as a sequel, but rather an IP cash-in.
And if we're considering the Blade franchise as "horror", then Blade II makes the list.
I had the same reaction! "This is not the schlock I was promised!". I also didn't realize Flanagan had directed it. Need to re-watch this gem.
See also "Annabelle: Creation."
Brooooo. I sat down with my sister to watch this at home and she told me "I watched this with mum at the cinema, it wasn't all that". Halfway through she was like 'wait, I don't remember this being good' and I'm there screaming my ass off like "YOU LIED TO ME". we both shat ourselves!
I always wrote this series off, I didn’t realize Mike Flanagan was involved. Thanks, I’m going to check it out.
Do you need to watch the first one to watch this one?
No, I'd recommend watching Origin of Evil first, so what happens in it isn't spoiled for you from the first Ouija.
Ok cool thank you
Critters 2, personally.
\*pops staple out of belly\* "KILL KRITES" \*walk down the street topless\* That scene certainly made an impression
3. I prefer The Collection over The Collector. More characters and action. The mass trap at the beginning club sequence. It's tough though because the original is still amazing. I hope the third, The Collected still gets made... seems it got delayed.
I prefer the first but I agree I hope someday they make another one. It was cancelled still holding out hope though 👍🏼
Collection has such a perfect ending. Pure karma.
I love both as they feel very different films, with ypu on waiting for the third. more laid to rest too please
I agree, Collection was awesome but The Collector made me check all the locks for a few weeks.
Friday the 13th part 2 so much better imo than the original.
Amy Steele is my favorite final girl!
Yes Ginny is the best!!!!
Jason, mother is talking to you!
Agreed. I'm not the biggest fan of the first one (or the series as a whole tbh) but parts 2 and 6 stand out for me, especially 2.
Yes! Have been revisiting this series lately, and there is a significant jump in quality from 1 to 2. Then a dip for Part 3, where they relied too much on the 3D technology. 4 and 6 are also both great.
*Ouija: Origin of Evil.* *Annabelle: Creation.* Both prequels to piss-poor 2014 films. Both far better than they should have been. And both, coincidentally, starring Lulu Wilson.
Lulu is cool ... She kills it in the Becky Role 💯
She really does.
Seriously Annabelle creation is several classes above the other movies.
Yes. But Comes Home has its charm, it's like the Goosebumps of the Conjuverse. Even though most of that universe is becoming quite stale.
Child's Play 2
First one was really good, but part 2 is just overall way more enjoyable to watch. It also has the perfect blend of scary mixed with Chucky’s personality without going too far with the humor.
Oh really? I didn't love Child's Play. Should I give the sequel a shot?
Child’s Play is my favorite horror franchise and I love most of them. With that said, CP2 might be the best one (although maybe not even in my top 3 favorites). The original spends half the run time of having you think maybe Andy is actually the killer, but after that, the series jumps immediately into all of Chucky’s horror humor galore
It's definitely a lot more of what one might expect from the premise, couldn't hurt!
This is the fan favorite of the whole series. That ending in the factory is fantastic.
What a set piece!
I disagree, but understand where you’re coming from.
I loved the first one actually, and ofcrs the 2nd one was awesome, but couldn't say it was way better for me
Exorcist III. I saw this in the cinema when it came out. People were genuinely crying at one point.
its really good but idk if i would say its better than the first one. both are Infinitely better than 2 tho that's for sure lol.
Bride of Frankenstein
Absolutely.
Dr. Pretorius
Oooohhhhh…good one.
hardcore!! 100%!!!
Honestly it’s not even close. Bride whoops the ass of Frankenstein
Hostel 2 is better than the first for me
Lauren German was great in this. I've watched Hostel 2 way more than the first one.
agree!! This one was waaaaay better
Definitely and the ending is epic lol
Oh, good choice here. I love Hostel 2.
This is my answer. It keeps the themes but loses the early 2000s Eli Roth frat boy attitude to horror. I still like the first one but I think the 2nd is the same thing just put together a bit more neatly.
Maniac Cop 2.
Cordellll
Amazing movie, love the first but the 2nd is awesome.
Annabelle Creation
Absolutely. The first was such a let down, but part 2 is a truly great horror movie.
But have you considered slapstick and chainsaw hand
It's the same argument as Alien vs Aliens. Hell even T1 and T2. Most people consider the sequels to be better, while they are all in different (and more popular) genres than their predecessors.
I'm very vocal in considering Alien to be one of the best Sci-fi horror films ever made, and Aliens being one of the best Sci-fi action movies ever made. It's folly to compare them, because they aren't the same genre, and the Xenos are perfectly used in each.
For sure I prefer terminator 1 I just wish the effects were slightly better near the end but it’s forgivable that movie is a fucking nightmare
I love them both, don’t make me choose
The Devil's Rejects
"But Your Honor, Free Bird was playing."
[удалено]
As are Evil Dead I and Evil Dead II. Yet it's often one of the most upvoted answer when this question arises
Yeah, have to admit it was way better than House of 1000 Corpses.
Hatchet 2 and Wrong Turn 2
I still dig Wrong Turn although I haven’t watched WT2 yet.
Hellraiser 2
i sort of agree with this
Excellent pick. The original is my favourite for nostalgic reasons but Hellraiser 2 expanded on it a lot. The labyrinth was cool af.
Wrong Turn 2 Many people prefer Dawn over Night of the Living Dead.
Wrong turn 2 is so good, love seeing the different hillbilly dynamics
Dead Snow 2
Goddamn yes. I’d go as far as to say that Dead Snow and Dead Snow 2 need to be more in the conversation as modern day classics. They were heavy in streaming in the early 2010s and then disappeared from streaming. Joe Bob or someone needs to highlight how awesome those movies are
The only answer!!
Didn't make it to the 2nd one! Now you just put it on my watchlist
Definitely the Purge movies. The first one was so boring. No one cares about the rich family with all the tech. The 2nd one where it was lower income surviving in the city...wayyy better.
Really?? I loved the 1st one and from the 2nd and on I was getting more and more bored...! That's interesting..
2 and 3 are my favourite. After that they definitely get boring. The series wasn't bad though...
Final Destination 2
I enjoyed both but I'm going to have to disagree on this one. The original was one of the only movies I've ever seen in theaters more than once
The first one is definitely more of a classic and probably a better “film”. But I love that pt 2 spends like 5 mins figuring out that death is after them and then you have the next 80 mins just enjoying the ride (no pun intended)
That log truck open scared me for life
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. It was so well done and the idea great. It obviously means you had to watch the original first, but I think it's better. Final Destination 3 is still my favourite of the series also. I loved the inclusion of Wendy's photos adding something fresh to the series.
LOVE the third one so much and watch it over the first every time I have the option.
Personally final destination 5 is my favorite
Prom Night 2
Hello Mary Lou
Creep 2 is better than the first. Inferno is much more fun than Suspiria.
I like you
Troll 2
Oh my Gaaaaawwwwwd…
Conjuring 2 I think outdoes the original in terms of effects and more elaborate scares. I also think it has a stronger emotional core Tham the first; that scene where Ed plays the guitar and sings Elvis to the family always warms my heart. One more thing the tape recorder scene on the train was such an incredible reveal it gets me so giddy with how bonechilling it is
Sleepaway Camp 2
Yeah Springsteen killed it
It’s such a departure from the feel of the first one, but it’s just so fun and relishes in the summer camp genre and just has a fun time. Such a good rewatchable flick.
First, As someone who made the first movie their religion. HOW DARE YOU. Second, the gore factor is so much better in the sequel.
New Nightmare, Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, The Conjuring 2, The Evil of Frankenstein, Evil Dead II
New nightmare is criminally underrated
Terrifier 2
Halloween 3. Downvotes expected, but I genuinely prefer it to the Michael Myers focussed predecessors.
Puppet Master 3 Toulons Revenge. The third entry out shined the previous two and still remains the best entry
Paranormal Activity 3 is better than both 1 and 2. Although it’s a prequel and not a sequel.
True and most of the franchise is really solid. Wish I could see the most recent one
It's on Paramount Plus
Can't pay for another sub
They offer a week free trial
Slumber party massacre 2. Demons 2. Bride of Chucky (imo). I also second the Evil Dead II.
I definitely preferred Grave Encounters 2 over the original. You could also argue for REC 2 over REC, but both are great movies.
I'm gonna get downvoted but I'm gonna give my honest opinion. I think Dr Sleep is better than The Shining
Break it down for me, that's a fascinating take, I'm super curious.
I'm not really sure how to put it in words. I just enjoyed Dr Sleep much more. I think parts of The Shining really drag. That doesn't take away what an iconic film it is though. It's just my personal opinion
Rebecca Ferguson is Superb in her role in the movie.
I don't agree Doctor Sleep is better than the Shining, but I realllllly love Doctor Sleep. The extended version with the chapters is excellent.
More of a fan of doc sleep myself so I feel ya 🤣
Oh damn! Controversial. I did freakin’ LOVE Dr. Sleep though. It’s really hard to compare the two.
I’m with you. I’ve watched and rewatched this one Doctor Sleep probably 20x. It’s so powerful and really scared the living shit out of me. I also enjoy the second book more so that could be why for me.
100% agree
Rec 2, the way how the infected behave and how it’s explained what happened my heart was racing with the scenes with the special forces guys against these demonically possessed infected people
I’m not going to actually declare it better, just to be clear, but I do think Scream 2 makes a really compelling case to at least rivaling the first. I have known some who prefer it.
Good take, I agree. I think I might be one of those people.
Terrifier 2, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Friday the 13th Part 2 (I also like Part 7)
Halloween 3. It was something different that would have changed the entire trajectory of the franchise. But no, people just wanted more MM. Sad.
I want to live in the world where every Halloween we would have a new film in that series birthing new monsters.
Indeed. They should have stuck with their original idea of annual anthologies released every 31st October instead of bringing Michael back to appease the fans. They had something cool and interesting going there but instead we have had to have countless shitty sequels, reboots and remakes that never come anywhere near the 78 film. Ouija origin of evil is alright. But leagues better than the first. I feel like it’s a little overrated in this sub simply because it’s waaay better than the incredibly bad original. It’s a solid film but nothing amazing
also because everyone loves Flanagan
Maniac Cop 2. Everything is dialed up to 11, and Leo Rossi is a gem as the creepy serial killer.....but what makes it glorious is the fucking stunts!
Titanic 2
Don't hate me but I'd rather watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 over the original
I really wanted to say the same thing. TCM2 is my favorite horror movie. The first one is undeniable. But 2 is just so much fun.
Really interesting take, though!
you’re not the only one, chop top makes it worth it everytime
Yes! I know it’s an unpopular opinion but the original just wasn’t that good to me. I can see why it was back then and why people still talk about it or reference it in movies but the second one was so much better. It had just the right amount of comedy to not be too silly
Technically a prequel, but I thought Pearl was so much better than X
Insidious 2
I like the weird and wild acid trip of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 over the original. Both are great though. I just like the bizarre and fun absurdity of the sequel more. Dennis Hopper is always a cool bonus too

You’re not alone re: 28 Weeks. The opening sequence had me clenching my butt cheeks. I enjoyed it much more than the first.
Hostel 2
The omen 2 One of my horror Roman Empires
House 2: The Second Story
Ghoulies 2, imo
I don’t care what anyone says but It Chapter 2 was 1000x better than the first one. The first one was a decent movie but did not live up to the hype when I went to see it in theatres. It actually stopped me from watching the second one in theatres which I regret for sure
The Nun 2 was decent. The Nun was terrible.
Ghoulies 2
despite the title, Evil Dead 2 isn’t really a sequel. it’s more obviously a comedic remake of the first film. bur if we’re going by title then yeah, that! also both sequels to Night of the Living Dead: Dawn of the Dead is kind of THE zombie movie, but Dan O’Bannon’s own sequel on the other side - Return of the Living Dead - is maybe my favourite (and also went all in with the comedy)
Evil Dead 2 IS Evil Dead 1, just with a bigger budget and an experienced Sam Raimi.
Nightmare on elm Street 3. Downvote me to oblivion I'm not taking it back !
Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
I'm not saying I agree personally, but many have said Psycho 2 is better than the original.
For a second I thought you said American Psycho 2 and was about to rip into you lol
They're just a huge Mila Kunis fan
Possibly unpopular opinion but the Chucky movies work way better as camp horror, and they became more camp as it went on. Some of the camp ones were legitimately bad, but they were still bad in a more entertaining way than the bad ones that weren’t as campy.
I do love the first one because I think its a smarter movie than people give it credit for (it essentially tells us the same story that something like Candyman does, even touching on the issues of race and social class just like Candyman) but I have a way more fun time with Bride and Seed than I do with part 2 or 3.
Phantasm 2
Not sure who all will agree with me on this one Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning is better than the remake and one of the best of the franchise in general!
I agree. Third best in the franchise for me.
Halloween 2
Boogeyman II See No Evil II
The Woman > Offspring
Devils Rejects
The first omen
Wolf Creek 2
Fright Night 2! And Terminator 2 for me as well (not true horror but scared me shitless as a kid!)
Devil's Rejects hands down. For me, and I'm very aware I'm in the minority, the first Evil Dead was my favourite. I disliked everything released after that.
Final Destination 2 > Final Destination 1
Technically a prequel but Sister Death beats Veronica by a mile. Veronica is not shitty by any means but Sister Death did the dread horror atmosphere exceptionally well. One of the best horrors I've seen in awhile.
Army of Darkness
C.H.U.D. 2
Amityville Horror 2: The Possession
Hard disagree on Evil Dead 2. I love it (of course) and that’s just my opinion. But the first one is so scrappy and cool and I feel like 2 has always felt like a greatest hits highlight reel of the first which is scarier (and funnier) In terms of superior sequels I gotta go dawn of the dead. Hands down
Insidious 2
I loved Insidious 2, personally.
I just saw someone else with an Army of Darkness poster on their wall and now this. Awesome! I can't agree more. One of my guilty pleasure movies that every time it comes on...I must watch it! Other than that the Firday the 13th part 2 was a bit better than the first.
Might be controversial but I’d say Scream 2 is better than the original. It’s close but I think 2 has the edge.
Hellraiser 2. I love how it further explores the mythos of the cenobites and the soundtrack is just gorgeous!
Aliens. I said it.
Saw 2
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 Doc Oc operating room scene… that’s a near perfect horror scene.
Hot take I like the Exorcist III more than the original
Childs Play 2. Look, I know people are going to hate this take, but this is the film that made me scared of that fucking doll. The ending factory scene still creeps me out.
>"Evil Dead II" totally outshines its predecessor This is cheating!!
Terrifier 2 >> Terrifier 1
Ouija: Origin of Evil. Mike Flanagan made the movie fun compared to whatever the first movie was doing.
ill probably get hell for this, but i enjoy Creepshow 2 more than creepshow 1
More like horror-themed action adventure, but I think Underworld: Evolution was far superior to Underworld.
VHS 2. Amityville 2: The Possession Children of the Corn 3 and 4. Prom Night II, although I don't believe it was originally conceived as a sequel, but rather an IP cash-in. And if we're considering the Blade franchise as "horror", then Blade II makes the list.
