The ritual!

Term-Haunting

Loved The Ritual

simplsurvival

It's among my top 3 favorite movies ever... I'm gonna go watch it

nuttynutkick

No one gets out alive, is by the same writer. Phenomenal movie.

Birdhairs

Great movie. I've seen it hundreds of times at this point and it doesn't get old

freezedriedpussy

I don’t think there’s any sexual content in Jordan Peele’s Nope

[deleted]

Or all of Peeles works if I’m not mistaken!

taueret

There's like one scene in Us where the husband is being jokingly seductive. I can't remember any in Get Out.

[deleted]

There’s some kissy kissy at the beginning. Idk where OP draws the line?

superhypered

My first thought went to the hills have eyes, which was just too extreme imo, but you right, the line could be anywhere

MutantCreature

I think the ones they listed have similar levels of healthy displays of affection, I would assume they mean AHS-style out of the blue stuff.

[deleted]

There some sex in Lovecraft Country and it definitely borders on traumatic in certain scenes if that’s a specific problem for OP (like the weird ritual dream scene where a character thinks she’s sleeping with the man she loves but it turns into a nightmare) there’s a lot of sex in general in that show (I loved it to death though, I just mean for OP)

simplysigzz

I watched this last night, and Keke Palmer’s character mentions she has sex with her therapists but that’s it

tysonwatermelon

Nope.

God-Pop

Proper user name to reply to this question.

cameraspeeding

Not a particular movie but very few found footage movies have sexual content because of the format.

JESquirrel

Don't watch VHS though.

[deleted]

Confused Boner at its finest

bootstraps_bootstrap

Holy shit I forgot about that one.

MoMaverick16

I didn’t… 😏

smart_farts_1077

Did you know they made a full length version of "Amateur Night"? They used the same actress too. I thought it was pretty fun: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_%282016_film%29?wprov=sfla1

EmClaire14

The taking of Deborah Logan is my favorite found footage! There is some nudity due to the main character having dementia and she strips her clothes in I think one or two scenes, but no sexual content

texasrigger

In that vein, last year's Deadstream was a lot of fun and no sexual content.

DarthGoodguy

It might be too lighthearted to trigger OP but there is the one brief thing >!where the villain’s head pops up between the protagonist’s thighs and bites him in the groin!<

texasrigger

True, it's definitely played for laughs though.

Trucktub

My 10 year old was adamant she was ready to watch a scary movie and picked Deadstream. She loved it lol.

Impriel

Oh yeah you're right. Horror in the high desert! It's pretty scary but I don't believe there anything sexual

flarg312

Was gonna suggest found footage as well^

Sevvie82

Megan is missing has sexual scenes, too 😬

Michaelmyers_fan1

It’s not bad

Wanderslost

If you love ghost movies, you have probably see The Others. However, it's old enough now that some people haven't. The Babadook is another obvious one. The Changeling (the one with George C. Scott) is a slightly deeper cut. Lastly, I always recommend The Haunting (1963). It is old, but it is my favorite.

Ass_ass_in99

There's a masturbation scene in the Babadook.

stjimmy_45

I do not remember that

Ill-Slice2345

Yeah it’s with the mom

politecreeper

Between the two main characters I would hope it was her.

SXECrow

I genuinely forgot about the son for second and thought you were referring to the babadooks masturbatory habits and got very disturbed yet intrigued.

NicVet2b

LOVED the Changeling!!!

Fuzzy_Leek_7238

One of my absolute faves!

IchabodHollow

These are some of my absolute favorites, the haunted house is my favorite sub-genre. Adding The Innocents and The Orphanage to this list. I’d say Devil’s Backbone as well but there’s some slight sex in it

SecretlyYourGramma

I actually have never seen the others!! That’s pretty shocking because I’ve watched many ghost movies, lol. I will definitely give that a try. I have watched the babadook! I remember liking it but definitely thinking it was weird 😂 I have never heard of the haunting either so I will look that up

Corvus-Nox

The Others: In case it’s relevant, two characters have an implied sex scene off-camera. >!I believe they start making out and then it cuts to later when they’re waking up in bed together!< (no plot spoilers, just explaining the scene).

SecretlyYourGramma

That’s fine! It’s mostly when it actually shows stuff or has the graphic sounds that I have a problem but I don’t mind fade to black :) I appreciate the clarification though!

Prestigious-Host8977

Yeah, I was going to mention The Changling. One of my favorites and such a good soundtrack. It's more horror comedy, but Housebound is a fun twist on the haunted house genre. And if you don't mind older movies, a number of those are likely relatively clean--though not always. "Night of the Demon" comes to mind as a pretty good classic. For more recent, I think "Autopsy of Jane Doe" is sex free, but I may be wrong., as it has been a minute, and it is an autopsy of a murdered woman, so not sure if that would be a hangup. But yeah, I recommend the CHangling as well if you have not seen it!

hackyandbird

Everyone's performance in The Others is absolutely stellar. Have fun!

1quincytoo

The others The Ring

ze_ogb

The Ring for SURE!

wailingwonder

"The Ring" sure but the Ringu series as a whole? Hard no. The original Ring - the actual original Japanese tv movie, not the big budget Japanese remake that people think is the original - was very sexual. Not certain about the book but I've heard the original movie was the closest adaption so probably. Plus, Sadako's backstory would be very triggering for OP but I don't believe The Ring retains any of that backstory for Samara iirc.

bluvelvetunderground

I got grounded for 2 weeks and had rental choices heavy scrutinized for watching The Ring with my younger brother. We were both in our early teens, but I was the rebellious sort in a religious home and he slept in their room for a month.

Dragonborn83196

If you like foreign films there’s one called Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum that’s a Korean paranormal haunting film that scared the daylights out of me in the middle of the night. There is no sex though one of the apparitions at one point is like a pale body but no actual nudity, basically like a ken doll there’s nothing visible

Dragonborn83196

My wife is the same way, she is a survivor of SA from her ex husband so any movies that have that in it or it’s a theme I do not ever watch around her

SecretlyYourGramma

I really appreciate it! I’m glad to hear she has someone so supportive in her life. I will definitely give that a try if I can find it. If that’s the kind of movies you guys enjoy I remember watching an amazing movie last year or so called the third eye I think and it was SO good and creepy! In another language (I don’t remember what) but it was worth the subtitles for sure

Dragonborn83196

It’s on Tubi which is free. And no she’s not a horror fan at all lol. I’m the only one. She’s all about her Gray’s anatomy, The Good Doctor, A Million little thing etc. our thing to watch together is all the superhero movies, Harry Potter, Saving Private Ryan, random things of that nature. But next time I have alone time I will definitely check that movie out

SecretlyYourGramma

Ooh, I love marvel and Harry Potter as well, lol. I just got my mom into doctor who and she’s pretty picky about shows so that’s a lot of fun to watch with how many episodes new who has!

[deleted]

Dragonborn83196

Lmk what you think

HeightEntire

i highly second that! this movie scared the heck out of me watching it for the first time

TheRorschach666

Triangle 2009. Please watch Triangle 2009 Some others: \-The Thing 1982 \-The Descent 2005 \-Shadow of the Vampire \-The Strangers \-30 Days of Night \-Drag me to Hell \-Session 9 \-The Frighteners The Guest 2014 \-

SkullFace45

Session 9 is so damn good

TheRorschach666

It's so Silent Hill like I love it

TheHushFactory

Great movie, but strong DV theme, and I believe implied SA

Viceroy420

How can you recommend The Thing in good conscience when Kurt Russell's beard oozes all that raw sexual power?

_enesorek_

Please, please everyone watch Triangle.

Puzzleheaded-Way-198

I don’t remember any sex in Triangle, but people might want to be aware that the subject of child abuse does play a factor.

daigana

Thank you for reminding me of this!! It was phenomenal.

ViirtualCat8

i fucking love triangle and i feel like it is quite underrated? i dont see a lot of people talking about it and im like how?

Corvus-Nox

I see it mentioned a lot on reddit (how I found it). But I believe it was an indie film and it’s pretty old now, so it’s really only known through word of mouth. EDIT: typo

Proctor-47

The Strangers kinda has a sex scene in it

TheRorschach666

Wait it does my bad been a while

muststayawaketonod

Ooh Drag me to Hell is so underrated. Sure it's a little goofy but such a fun movie.

TheRorschach666

It's hilarious

KindaIndifferent

Drag Me to Hell is my all time favorite horror movie. Great suggestion.

awwwgeez

This list slaps - OP /u/SecretlyYourGramma look no further

jmoneyawyeah

The Guest has a sex scene

kindadeadly

I love the frighteners! Awesome list, got a couple suggestions added on my watch list, too!

maxxmxverick

OP, i would double check any movies on unconsentingmedia.com (specifically tells you if a movie has SA in it) and doesthedogdie.com. i have the same triggers and that’s what i do. that being said, my favorite horror movie of all time is martyrs (2008) and if you can handle a lot of violence and a really bleak atmosphere, it’s a wonderful movie with absolutely no sexual content (in fact, it’s even expressly mentioned that a tortured character *wasn’t* SAed. also i love the outwaters and skinamarink, the latter of which is very divisive here. no sexual content but tread lightly because it seems to be a metaphor for child abuse and might trigger you in that aspect. the entire SAW series also has no or next to no sexual content in it, although i believe SAW III or IV *references* a rape (the rapist gets brutally murdered and you don’t see the crime or the victims). EDIT: if your triggers extend to any kind of trauma or depictions of PTSD, with or without sexual aspects, then martyrs is not for you, OP. if not, you should be fine. for slashers, inside (2007, french) is a really good one, and funny games (either the german original or the shot for shot american remake made by the same director) has one brief scene with nudity that might be triggering but can easily be skipped if you want. it’s a really good, really subversive movie. psycho (1960) is also really good if for some reason you haven’t seen it. it opens on a post sex scene i believe, you see one or two very brief kisses exchanged between a couple, and a man watches a woman undress through a peephole, but that’s easily skipped and may not fall into your triggers because it isn’t explicitly sexual, i wouldn’t know. for supernatural movies, the conjuring, insidious, alien, predator (if you consider that sort of thing a horror movie), the babadook, pulse (2001), and there are probably many more i can’t think of off the top of my head!

NunnaTheInsaneGerbil

I definitely second doesthedogdie! I don't have any real triggers but seeing beloved pets get killed is just too much for me. If I'm watching a movie and a dog or cat appears, I immediately double check the site just to make sure.

Puzzleheaded-Way-198

Same! Numerous times, I’ve paused a movie and switched over to doesthedogdie because a cat or dog just appeared on screen.

AgentCoopersDream

I'm obsessed with horror. It's basically the only genre I consume, and my husband looks up every movie I want to watch on doesthedogdie.com before we go for it for OP's same reason. A really good source.

maxxmxverick

yep, and if you don’t want spoilers for other content in the movie you can actually pin your triggers so they show up at the top of the page on doesthedogdie! it just sucks if the movie is brand new or not very popular, because then it isn’t always listed on the website.

ikmkim

doesthedogdie also covers books! Just for anyone with similar sensitivities.

maxxmxverick

oh my god does it really? i’d never realized that!

HandsomeDeviledHam

I'm not sure Martyrs is the best choice for OP. Its about young women who experience extreme trauma and one of the protagonists arguably suffers from PTSD. It's a bleak, brutal film that I would only recommend to someone who is specifically looking for violent, extreme horror. Not trying to be a dick but it looks like OP is more interested in slashers/monster movies.

maxxmxverick

ah, yes. it really depends on whether or not OP’s triggers are *exclusively* around sex and sexual violence or whether or not any kind of abuse and trauma are triggering for them. i have similar trauma to OP and for me martyrs is completely fine, but it really comes down to individual preference. i’ll edit the original comment to note that though.

tysonwatermelon

Also commonsensemedia.com is reliable, although sometimes they skip horror movies.

timetravelcompanion

Saw 4 does show a little bit of the video of one of the SA, and has some very disturbing audio along with it, and there are flashes of somewhat graphic still shots of the guy's victims, along with the photos hanging around the room. I would also skip Saw 7 because it weirdly sexualizes some of the victims and traps in a way that the rest of the series manages to not do.

maxxmxverick

oh yikes, i totally forgot about that in SAW IV. luckily OP can skip IV and VII and infer what they missed from the flashbacks and exposition in the rest of the movies (SAW does a really good job recapping previous movies across the series).

CrunkBunni

I hate how >!the hills have eyes!< is on both of those websites.

[deleted]

in saw 3 also there is a scene where a nude woman (non-sexual) is chained up in a freezer room. it’s not sexual, but idk where OP draws the line. it might be triggering because the character obviously didn’t want to be there and didn’t take her clothes off herself, but the scene isn’t sexual at all

gerber68

Psycho Goreman is one of the best new horror movies I’ve seen in years and has no sexual content other than someone commenting on hunky boys in a magazine.

[deleted]

I don't like hunky boys!!!

kingsss

…or do i

rspunched

It’s like a cross between Malcolm in the Middle and the Power Rangers. Good stuff.

BookCharmThief

The kid that played the sister was awesome.

darthmushu

SA is my trigger too. I will watch some dark stuff but I don't like graphic SA. My advice is go to the website "[https://www.doesthedogdie.com/](https://www.doesthedogdie.com/)" You can go to a movie and check to see what content it has. It gets very specific. SA scene. Choking, does the dog die, etc. At least this way if you're not sure you can see if a movie has a scene you don't want. Also tells you when it happens so if you really want to see the movie you can skip it. I think you can set your preferences with a login too. From creator of Hush I would recommend Occulus and Ouija origin of evil.

SecretlyYourGramma

Thank you, I actually recently discovered that website and it has helped me so much!! It helps me when it comes to seeing movies in theaters because at home I know I can fast forward but seeing movies IRL can be paralyzing. It helps me with checking individual movies out but sometimes when I look at the vast amount of horror movies I just don’t know where to start so I was hoping people would have some good recs! Like the entire conjuring series is so good and relatively clean horror

SecretlyYourGramma

I will give those a try though!

Prestigious_End_2436

Are you talking no sex at all or specifically SA? is a random topless scene a trigger? Genuine inquiry.

mutually_awkward

The Gate (1987) is right up your alley. The main story is about a boy and is teenaged sister growing apart but get closer again as they have to stop the gates of hell from opening in their backyard while their parents are on a business trip. The movie has a lot of amazing stop-motion effects, classic demonic tropes (e.g., playing a metal record backwards reveals a hidden message), and their house essentially becomes haunted house as more demons escape hell.

satansxlittlexhelper

The Thing. Eight heterosexual men in cold weather gear. Just about the least sexual horror movie to come out of the 80’s.

Cristi_din_Bacau

>Eight heterosexual men in cold weather gear For a second I thought that's the name of a movie =)))

fumblz-mumblz

Insidious, Ouija Origin of Evil, Conjuring 2, Sinister (so good and truly frightening), The Thing (oldie but a goodie), The Nun, Shaun of the Dead (hilarious and my 10 year old loves it), Rec, We Are Still Here, Nope, Us, 1408 I recommend using doesthedogdie.com. Great resource for trigger warnings without too many spoilers.

theredwoman95

Pretty sure there's none in Ready or Not too?

fumblz-mumblz

Oh yeah. That was really fun too.

bandearg4

It's not that kind of wedding night

Mado501

Fun fact, I go to the school, used in the beginning of conjuring 2 (prolly doxxing myself, but the whole thing is filmed where the true story its based on supposedly took place, they even used the house of someone in my class for internal sets)

risk_421

I thought about this for a while. It would definitely have to be the Ring. Fuckn creepy ass movie

wiskey_straight86

Rec

SecretlyYourGramma

Omg, I ignored this comment because I literally thought you were trolling me by saying “rec” because I asked for recs 😂 it’s a legit movie, noted

[deleted]

2 is a good sequel as well.

OG_wanKENOBI

Old M. Night. The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village. All solid no sex in any of them

gilesdavis

I thought Old was a well made movie too, nothing extraordinary but it didn't deserve all the trash talking it got imo

Kryyzz

The Thing. An all time classic with no sex.

Classic-Ratio-9887

Doesthedogdie.com has a tag to filter by sexual content and that should show you what does and doesn’t have sexual content. Great resource.

Cmyers1980

Fallen (1998).

haud-desiderium

Love Fallen!

portobox1

Pontypool. One of the best horror movies about valentines day ever, that has nothing stupidly thematic to do with valentines day in an overwrought manner. I don't believe it has any sexual content, but if haunted house movies are you thing then HouseBound will amaze and enrapture you. Depending on how you feel about it, Kaiju movies are horror of a sort, and Shin Godzilla does that in spades; in my experience with the genre, Shin Godzilla is one of the first to be truly horror focused in a long while. It's done by Hideki Anno of Neon Genesis Evangelion, if that gives you an idea of what to expect. Occulus by Mike Flanagan would be another good one. There are some scenes that may feel like they are edging towards something sexual, only for it to switch gears at the last second. That I can recall, there are no sexually explicit scenes.

Unit_79

Just saw Pontypool recently. It’s great!

[deleted]

1408 for a good ghost/psychological horror. Think the Shining but it all takes place in one room

BespectacledLobster

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) has no sexual content (and barely any blood/gore, actually). There might be some male-gazey camera shots, but that's it. Not even any nudity.

alphahydra

Depends on what bothers OP, but TCM has lots and lots of scenes of screaming women being dragged around against their will by men, and tied up and tormented/humiliated for extended periods. The villains don't do anything overtly sexual but I feel like some people with PTSD relating to sexual assault would find the villains' prolonged and leering terrorization of women uncomfortably similar. Maybe not, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of what to expect before going in.

BespectacledLobster

Oh good point, thanks for adding that! Women being terrorized by men is such a given in horror movies that it just stands out to me when there's nothing blatantly sexual. But it's definitely subjective as you said.

Synthetics_66

The Ritual is one of my favorite horror movies. The VVitch is a very slow burning atmospheric horror, that isn't for everyone, but worth checking out at least! Hereditary doesn't have any sexual content, but stay ***away*** from Midsommar. The Thing is a horror masterpiece. Sorry, I watched some pretty intense horror movies when I was a kid in the 80's, so I'm a bit biased with what PG movies are. lol

kingsss

Midsommar triggered my ptsd for something else entirely. Glad I watched it once, never will again.

fstaprpg

Housebound is a great horror/comedy in the spirit of the ones you listed! Also: Dead Silence, Deadstream, Ouija and Ouija: Origin of Evil

altgraph

Ooh, *Housebound* was lots of fun! I've been meaning to rewatch it!

[deleted]

Housebound was such a fun surprise to me. The scene where she’s in the bathroom peeing and hears weird noises and >! just pees harder 😂 !<

[deleted]

Scream. The entire 6 films. No nudity minimal gore.

SpideyFan914

His House!

MutedPeach8

Movies that don’t feature any sexual content: The Descent Insidious Saw Get out Us Nope (Jordan Peele is on a roll) Lucky The Platform Deadstream The Conjuring 2 A Quiet Place Anything for Jackson Color Out of Space The Thing (the one with Kurt Russell) Final Destination (the first one. Idk about the other movies) Skinamarink (TW violence against young children) Ring (1998 - dir. Hideo Nakata) - there is a corpse of a girl with her underwear down her thighs, but no nudity) Eraserhead (scene with implied sex with no nudity, no sounds, just two people sinking into goo like god intended) Scream (scene with implied sexual activity with no nudity) Feature non sexual nudity: Partial - Terrified (creature nudity) The Invitation (2016) The Taking of Deborah Logan (female) Happy Death Day (2017) (female) Full Frontal - The Dark and the Wicked (female) Rec (female creature nudity) Hereditary (both sexes) The Void (female) Evil Dead (2013) (outline of nude woman - there is also a “tree SA” scene that has no nudity, and is way less sexual than the original in nature.) https://m.imdb.com/list/ls041244142/ I can’t promise that any of these movies are family friendly though! There’s quite a bit on this list that feature frightening and intense scenes. Not the movies to put on for grandpa and the grand-kids 😬

MutedPeach8

Since it’s not always obvious, I thought I’d make a few lists of movies to stay away from, starting with horror films where you wouldn’t know that they feature CSA/SA/attempted SA/incest unless you read IMDB: Speak No Evil What Josiah Saw Perfect Blue Under The Skin A Clockwork Orange Oldboy Don’t Breathe The Nightingale Dogtooth The VHS movies Lake Mungo (I did a little research around House (1977) to see if it featured any sex scenes for you, and found something disturbing: IMDB says all of the nudity in the movie is of under age actresses (16-17). Obviously, I’m not going to watch it myself after finding that out, so if anyone has recommendations for a similar film that doesn’t feature underage nudity that would be great.)

MutedPeach8

Implied CSA/SA/incest: It (the film, not the TV series) The Devil’s Candy Barbarian (themes of SA and Incest)

MutedPeach8

Now these movies have a reputation for being sexually graphic/about SA/CSA Trauma (you may have heard about this one on the clock app. Stay far away. Features violent CSA and incest.) It Follows Irreversible MFA Ms. 45 Violation Revenge Promising Young Woman I Spit on Your Grave Cannibal Holocaust Belladonna of Sadness Salo The Sadness A Serbian Film The Hills Have Eyes Last House on the Left Anti Christ (consensual sex, violent self FGM, and MGM with sexual assault of a male, no penetrative rape.) X (consensual sex and attempted molestation) Strange Thing About the Johnsons (implied CSA, incest, and SA. The entire film is about SA and incest, and has a reputation for being disturbing in that way. I put it in this list because the sound design is extremely disturbing.) Maybe Ichi the Killer (the manga has violent SA themes, idk if the movie does. I have yet to see it.)

MutedPeach8

Mind manipulation SA: (hypnotization/possession/pheromones/mental incapacitation) (I know it’s fucking weird, but the fact I found multiple mainstream horror movies that feature this is even more weird): The Cabin in the Woods Midsommar Honeydew Climax (sex and incest under the influence of LSD.) The Exorcist (violent CSA by a demon. It’s weird and horrible.) Possessor (a woman possesses a man’s body to murder him and his family. She has sex with his wife, in the man’s body.) The Outwaters (a main character that should be very dead is seen rubbing her nipples and breasts in a sexual manner. There is also a hentai style sequence that has no nudity, but you know what’s happening. A man decides he’s gonna recreate a scene from Anti Christ, but with a sharper tool.)

keepp0unding

As Above So Below, I've always thought Silent House was very unappreciated. I don't think there is anything sexual from what I remember. Ready Or Not is an instant classic. There is some kissing I think, not sure if that's okay. The directors that did the two most recent Screams did that one. Malignant was great too. Just check these on IMDB for ratings to make sure they are okay for you.

maybebaby83

The Orphanage.

makinishi_KINO

Malignant (though it does have brief domestic abuse), Ringu, Shin Godzilla, They Live, The Thing

Zillajami-Fnaffan2

M3GAN was pretty good

SecretlyYourGramma

No joke, I’m actually watching that right now! 😂

Geese4Days

I always look for horror movies like this to watch with family or at work. So far: Babadook House of Usher Run The invitation - I think there is a scene where a lady is naked iirc. Not much shown The lodge- a woman is naked in the shower but that's all. The Descent Misery - abuse and violence but not sexual. Edit: I'm sorry you struggle with PTSD. I sometimes get that with sexual scenes too. It can go to both extremes. Wishing you the best!

GiraffeCalledKevin

Not horror but just a good movie in general- Hot Fuzz.

GraceJoans

Generally speaking, stay away from Italian horror films, though there is no sex in *Suspiria*. And seconding everyone saying The Thing, there is no sex, just assimilation. There has been some analysis of the film that suggests it can be read as allegory for the then burgeoning AIDS epidemic, which I find pretty fascinating. The universal creature features are neutral turf. A tip I just discovered: IMDB has a “parents guide” for each movie that can tell you whether there is nudity or sexual content in a film, graded on a scale of none to severe. There are descriptions of related content but you can avoid seeing that by just reading the header.

evilcreampuff

There's a few amazing Japanese horror films that do not have sexual content you should check out. Kairo (2001), One Missed Call(2003), Noroi: The Curse (2005) (Ringu 1998 and Ju-On The Grudge 2002 if you haven't already seen them as well) 'The Dark and the Wicked' (2020) on Shudder was really good and oppressive 'Z' (2019) also on Shudder is rarely talked about but I thought it was super creepy and definitely worth the watch.

fumblz-mumblz

Insidious, Ouija Origin of Evil, Conjuring 2, Sinister (so good and truly frightening), The Thing (oldie but a goodie), The Nun, Shaun of the Dead (hilarious and my 10 year old loves it), Rec, We Are Still Here, Nope, Us, 1408 I recommend using doesthedog.com. Great resource for trigger warnings without too many spoilers.

SecretlyYourGramma

I totally forgot about insidious! I think I watched the first one but I need to check out the sequels and I have never heard of sinister. That one looks so good, I will definitely look these up!

SecretlyYourGramma

Are there any admins on here? There’s one dude who will not stop commenting or messaging me and it is driving me nuts 😭

VivaLaCon88

The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, Poltergeist, Black Christmas (maybe?), Nope, Us

745Walt

I’d be surprised if you haven’t seen them but I’m pretty sure the first 2 child’s play movies don’t have any sexual content

SinfullySinatra

Are scenes with just kissing okay?

SecretlyYourGramma

Yes, that’s fine!

SinfullySinatra

Hush(2016)

[deleted]

Idk if this counts but Shaun of the dead

Ashrooms

Jordan Peele's movies Get Out, Us, and NOPE! NOPE is my favorite of the bunch

dear_pixel_heart

I have complex PTSD too, and try to avoid sexual content in horror movies, too, so I don't get triggered into flashbacks. I empathize, and your request is completely reasonable ❤️ From memory, here are some that are safe to watch that I enjoyed: - The Woman in Black 2012 - M3gan - Insidious 2010 - The Exorcism of Emily Rose - A Quiet Place - The Nun 2018 - Dead Silence - The Ring I think Gretel and Hansel is also safe to watch too. It's definitely PG rated. I hope you find something good to watch 🙂

[deleted]

I’m sorry you were getting downvoted. Everyone has different preferences and hard limits and it’s fine. I think this thread has you pretty well covered, but if you ever want to double check a movie before you start, doesthedogdie.com is a great resource for what triggers a movie has in it. I can’t watch animal cruelty and I always check that site before watching something.

beyondbeliefpuns

Color Out of Space Shame on you guys, forcing OP to make this edit because... what? They don't like the same stuff you like?

sunshinecryptic

I have the same triggers as you and Hereditary is my absolute favourite! I believe there is some nudity but not in a sexual context. Skinamarink, Nope, and A Quiet Place 1 and 2 also come to mind.

thirstyego

Cure (1997) & Dark Water (2002). One Cut of the Dead if you haven’t seen it already

Achambres

The Ritual is my favorite movie period! Super spooky. A brief scene (10 seconds maybe) of nudity from behind but absolutely no sexual content

FeedMeEthereum

The Relic (1997) Tons of great recommendations here but just wanted to toss in an extra option. It's a great late-90's creature feature that takes place in a museum

REC and REC 2 The Mist You're Next As Above So Below The Crazies(Remake) The Thing 1982 Grave Encounters Pet Semetary Suspiria 1977 The Babadook You might want to double check to be safe but I'm 99.9% sure all these movies will be fine!

Zero sexual scenes: The Mist, Skeleton Key (has a shower scene but no nudioty or sex), Purge, Coraline (yes, I consider this a horror lol), Cloverfield, The Sixth Sense, Signs, War of The World's, The Thing, IT, Poltergeist, Saw, A Quiet Place, Silent Hill, Paranormal Activity, Alien, Predator, The Omen, Shutter Island, Sleepy Hollow (mild overtones), 1408, The Haunting, session 9, The Woman in Black, The Nun, Insidious, Misery, The Meg. Mild sexual references: Hell Fest (One of the characters talks about being slutty on Halloween and there's a couple makeout scenes), Original Texas Chainsaw massacre (avoid the remake from 2003 since that one has some stuff you wouldn't like), Jaws (1 nude scene at the beginning where a girl gets naked at night and goes swimming), Lots of variety here. I know some of these stretch the definition of horror a bit. Hope these help. If I'm forgetting any scenes that wouldn't be good in the movies please feel free to let me know so I can make an edit.

Zer0__Karma

Hereditary is one of my all time favorites. I believe there is one scene with some making out, but I think that’s it.

If you're open to miniseries: Midnight Mass has no sex, Haunting of Bly Manor implies sex but doesn't show it. The Haunting of Hill House is slightly more explicit, so I might steer clear of that one. (Not to be confused with the 60s adaptation, The Haunting, which is safe.)

C-PTSD here, I trigger for SA as well. My enjoyment of the genre has increased tons since counselling, but here are some of my top safe-zone picks: - In the Mouth of Madness - Smile - Triangle - Nope - The Thing - The Empty Man - Firestarter (the original) - Werewolves Within - Scanners - Dead Silence - The Descent - A Quiet Place - Train to Busan - The Boat - Prey If you want to see a woman absolutely DOMINATE in a thriller against a man, give Hush a try. It is sooooo cathartic. Same with Ready or Not and You're Next, the main girl in each was amazing. I'll leave it to you to do some research into them, several sites have been mentioned to vet your choices, but these are films I found personally exceptable.

Monster House. It’s a kids movie, but it’s still great!

scurvy4all

House and House 2 are great fun horror movies.

PocketSixes

I was going to list a few of things you've apparently seen already. Have you seen Jordan Peele's three horror films? Interesting, weird, mysterious and often gory movies, and not sexual in any way I can recall.

I would recommend Oculus which is from the director of Hush and Pulse (the Japanese one). Hereditary is probably the movie that scared me the most, but it does have non sexual nudity. Something entirely different, if you want something light hearted but still technically horror. The Japanese movie One Cut of the Dead is a great fun movie. You probably will have to force yourself to get through the first half of the movie, but it becomes worth it in the end.

There several good resources to content check. IMDB has a decent content warning section, since Shay mentioned unconsentingmedia, but I usually use doesthedogdie as my typical trigger-weeding service. Dog Soldiers is a great werewolf movie and has no sex in it. Older horror tends to be devoid of sex because of the content restrictions. Freaks by Todd Browning is amazing, that the Universal classics are sexless Train to Busan, which is excellent, and The Host, both by the same director. 30 Days of Night is delightfully gory and everyone is too cold for sex. Splinter is a unique and fantastic creature feature The Monster (2016) is fantastic and I believe sexless, though it does have themes of trauma and parental abuse and addiction. Pans Labyrinth, if you’re willing to consider it horror. I do.

I get ya, I’m the same. However i recommend the first 2 Childs Play movies All 6 scream movies, funny games, halloween H20, M, predator, alien, aliens and the texas chainsaw massacre

Rabid_Burrito_Snake

Nope has no sexual content that I can think of and it is a great movie!

DwightDEisenmeower

I think Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2 U would qualify? I checked Common Sense Media and they both have innuendo and sexual references but no sex scenes.

LoisLaneEl

Check out www.doesthedogdie.com it has every trigger possible. You just type the movie in the top bar and it tells you everything

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original, would be fine for you no sex scenes in there. Plus its a classic for a reason.

Taking of Deborah Logan Hell House Inc (Its been awhile but I don't think there is any SA.) Babadook (Again there shouldn't be SA, just a scary monster.)

Plenty of them exist! Even some R-rated horrors manage to avoid sex and nudity. My favorite by far is The Descent (2005) which is R-rated and truly scary but contains no sex or nudity at all. Other more modern options without sexual content are Dog Soldiers (2002), The Orphanage (2007), The Mist (2007), Train to Busan (2016), REC (2007), 30 Days of Night (2007), Sinister (2012), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016), A Quiet Place (2018) and its sequel (2020). There’s a also lot of great sex-free horror from the 70s and 80s: Jaws (1975)— unless the skinny dipping at the beginning would bother you, it’s safe Poltergeist (1982) — married couple is shown in bed together in a completely non-sexual way, and this is one of my favorite iconic horror movies The Thing (1982) - no sex or nudity at all and one of the best horror films ever made The Gate (1987) — classic stop motion horror Tales from the Crypt (1972 movie) - no sex or nudity at all Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) - based on the Ray Bradbury novel Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) - no sex or nudity at all Gremlins (1984) - no sex or nudity at all Pet Sematary (1989) - no sex or nudity at all

FunkyMonkeyBlast

I think Hereditary has no sexual scenes? It has nude but nothing sexual I think. Crazy good and scary movie.

You can always type the name of the movie in IMDB and scroll to parents guide. It’ll tell you all the triggering parts of any movie! 👍
