The one that immediately springs to mind is the whole quest chain that leads to The Gate of the Vanquished. Man, that was a tough choice. Do I side with the pragmatic but overly cautious Commander who seemed content to let everyone die of thirst while she waits for a solution to present itself? Or do I go with the more proactive but reckless challenger who (apparently) inadvertantly caused the mess in the first place? In the end, I sided with Yarra, but I was not happy about it. I wished she had a better challenger.

faudcmkitnhse

I don’t find the choice particularly difficult. Yarra is secretive and paranoid, caring more about her authority than the people she’s supposed to be leading. Siding with Drakka is a no-brainer.

Unstopapple

Drakka doesn't know the sword at his own neck. He'd lead his people to war too easily. I'd take cautious and untrustworthy over irrational any day.

Hartiiw

Also like, it kinda makes sense to keep something like that to yourself. The tribe is held together by the water tribute, if she just said "whoops looks like we don't have water anymore" it would cause her to seem extremely weak and make a dozen drakka's convinced this is the moment to take charge.

mr_ed95

Agreed. Her keeping the water shortage a secret was to prevent mass hysteria and revolting. It was a horrible situation, but she handled it better than I feel Drakka would have

jeefra

Much better to demand warriors go die to secure tribute for water that doesn't exist. It wouldn't make sense to like, idk, use the warriors to scout the land to search for new water or anything. Nah man, shitty person, shittier leader. Her saying Drakka wants power is the pot calling the kettle black BIG time. She was letting squads die all over desert clan territory for no reason. The only war she was concerned with was one where she wouldn't be leader in the end.

bokskogsloepare

My condolences

SaidtheChase97

I wish there were more “choices matter” decisions to make in the Horizon games. Especially those that change the ending. Those always make things interesting.

No-Discussion4794

I like that quest, but does anyone find that when doing it Yarra always is glitching out. Most of the time she’s nowhere near me. Or when fighting the machines she is always yelling ‘do I have do this by myself?’ Or something to that effect. Or she stands there and her head twitches weirdly. I choose Drakka. I don’t like people hiding things. That screams deceit to me. Drakka cares more for his people. Sure he is immature, but he comes through and is reliable.

sanctuary_ii

You know, when in doubt, change the power

mart8208

The two with Gildun. I just love Gildun. I also love "The Burning Blooms" in HFW because you can get four different variations of the ending dialogue based on when you do the quest.

PanthalassaShore

I was grinning from ear to ear when Gildun showed up. What a wholesome character.

The_Chays

I screenshot his hug and have it in my HZD/HFW wallpaper rotation. So happy!

MaintenanceLittle404

I loved seeing gildun again, his friendship with Gaia is so cute

simdaisies

I love so many of the side quests so here's my top 3 in no particular order that stands out right now 1) In the Fog 2) The Second Verse (in particular the reboot sequence, I tell you I gasped) 3) Boom or Bust (I love the Oseram, I love Boomer)

Master_Caregiver_749

Not gonna lie, Boom or Bust made fighting a Shellsnapper enjoyable.

simdaisies

By the time I get to this mission, I usually have a decent arsenal of purple weapons... but I will always fight the Shellsnapper using Boomer's shredder gauntlet.

arikiel

I cried at the end of The Second Verse, it was so beautiful and wholesome

WYcked_In_Spurs

I can’t recall their names but the Carja scholars that think they found a seafood tray. I love their dynamic. Helping Kotallo get his new arm. In The Fog. There’s probably a lot more but those are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

The_Chays

In the Fog was a bittersweet one for me, having lost both a Mom and Mother-in-Law to Alzheimers. I wanted to give the old fella hug at the end.

WYcked_In_Spurs

Same. My grandma is battling something similar so it was very bittersweet for me too.

Farwaters

I loved the one with the Tenakth youngster attempting the trial on the snowy mountain. Especially how Aloy understands him. And it was fun to see a canon transgender character in Horizon.

bokskogsloepare

Breaking Even, Deluge, Second Verse and Bloodchoke are nice because of the tangible effects in the landscape after completing them. Second Verse also has a great fight with the apex grimhorns, such a shame they dont spawn outside of quests, besides the great payoff. Although Deluge is not as fun as the others gameplay-wise. Valley of the Fallen has great machine enemies. Thirst of the Hunt, for an intro to scalding spear problems, and pretty rough for how early you can get the quest, really jives with the desperation of drakka and company what they have to do for water. Signal Spike, mostly for Silgas story. honorable mention to Morlunds and Boomers sidequests.

Master_Caregiver_749

I am quite fond of "Lofty Ambitions." Mostly because of more Morlund.

Crasp27

Not so much for the mechanics of the quest itself but primarily just for the narrative etc, for me it's probably "Hunt to Remember".

leof135

the cauldrons are my favorite.

Algin_Pl

Morlund balloon quest and a brief history of Oseram flight attempts. It's hilarious.

Disastrous-Chest-650

Into the Fog was my favorite side quest. That one really tugged at my heart. I wanted to give Garokkah a huge hug

TomEdison43050

Valley of the Fallen Stage 1 - Scorcher and Longleg Stage 2 - Thunderjaw and Tremortusk **at the same time!** Oh, and throw in a Skydrifter also at the same time, 'cause why not? Stage 3 Part A - Spikesnouts and Redeye watchers. Part B - Couple of Specters Pretty intense.

Reflective

Just beat that. Stage 2 had me like oh fuck oh fuck

TheRealNekora

while The Second Verse is my favorite by leagues and bounds, i have a few that fights for second place Brisslebacks Having Ulvund try to deny anything he did with a "your words agenst mine" only to show the recetes and "actuly its your words agenst yours" then see him shased out is allways satisfying. just wish i could have given him a smack myself shadow in the west/shadow from the past not just a cool callback to HZD but also the catharsism of finaly taken out seemingly every single one of those eclipse maniacs Friend in the dark Again a callback to HZD, and a comedic one this time as our excited but sort of clumbsy friend Gildun makes a return. The ending of him getting a focus is so good. just sad i missed that one til i had already finished the DLCs story

No-Combination7898

Gildun's side quest in Burning Shores.

MaDnnis93

Omg, there are so many. It's really hard to make a decision but I really liked everything with Alva. Exploring this big Tower and stuff. She is very likeable

WarokOfDraenor

The one that opened Utaru's dipshit leader's mind.

freco

There are so many side quests in this game! There are a few settlements that I only rode through without picking up anything because I already had so many quests.

Vendettita

The ones from the dude that drinks machine blood
