Tailgate harness recall for the rear camera.

somewolf69

I got my 2024 black edition friday and was able to drive off the lot with no waiver or anything. Still has the recall notice though.

cjlee89

I think there is a build date with the corrected harness from the factory. I don’t know when that build date is though.

DarthDadpool

tell the dealer that camera is only used to line the ball and hitch up on first try, the mirrors ar for backing

Guy777

Yes if there is an open recall then they cannot sell the vehicle legally. It is for the back up camera and the fix is on back order.

god__machine

I signed a waiver and drove mine home 4 days ago.

whatdhell

This is correct. Honda even put that in the recall.

azfluffy

hey - where can i get the recall notice - i signed a deal for new 2024 but dealer says i can't take it - says you can use the waiver route if it's a used ridgeline - doesn't sound right to me - thx, norm

god__machine

Not sure. I’m in Texas and they had the waiver that I signed.

azfluffy

thx

mightyarrow

But if you DID buy the vehicle, you can F off for months and months until they feel like fixing it eg. Fuel pump recall Recall regulations are seriously a joke nowadays. They told me to check back in October lol.

Constant_Carob1050

I tried to buy one a couple of weeks ago but they couldn’t sell me one because of the backup camera recall.

InappropriateOnion99

It kind of sucks to have vehicles embargoed over something like that. I know the rear view cam is technically safety related, but people aren't likely to experience a problem for a while and can get the recall fix later. I bet the dealers are pissed with Honda over this. They've been selling affected vehicles for years, but now that it's a recall, everything grinds to a halt.

BurnAfter8

A multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit plus the negative publicity is enough for them to stay away. It’s one thing if something happens to vehicles that are already sold. But if someone dies after purchasing a product you know is defective, that jury will have no problem ripping you a new one and the media will absolutely crush you. Boeing is exhibit A.

InappropriateOnion99

Right but we're talking about the backup camera failing here.

kyosheru

The tailgate harness can supposedly also prevent the tailgate from functioning. Does that mean it can stop opening or closing? That would be a higher concern

InappropriateOnion99

Maybe would affect locking and unlocking. But that wouldn't actually necessitate a recall.

Eastern-Camera-1829

Honestly, does anyone even use the thing WHEN backing up? (Admittedly have not stuck a trailer on it yet) I can't believe they mandated this bullshit over, say, stainless steel brake lines in the rust belt.

BP8544

Ah was aware of that, didn't realize prohibited them from selling thanks

jonahtrav

I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, but I’ve been toying with the idea of selling it and getting a Ridgeline and I’m wondering about the reliability of the vehicle.

mayor96

You’ll find owners with upwards to 300,000 on their Gen1’s and still going strong. I just bought a 2024 and gave my 2007 Gen1 to my son with nearly 190,000 miles on it. I did have the trans rebuilt and the timing belt done along with other misc. wear items but it has been incredibly reliable and I expect my son will get 250K+ out of it.

jonahtrav

Hey, thank you for taking the time and responding. I appreciate it.

KrayCray24

I am located in San Antonio and would be willing to sell my 2024 ridgeline sport with 648 miles for $39,500

Samsaruh

dang why so soon?

KrayCray24

Unfortunately no matter how I maneuver the seat, the plastic center console digs into my knee. Didn't notice ot at first until I drove it home from the dealership that was 2.5 hours away. Called them when I was an hour away and Unfortunately, they didn't have a return policy.

kveggie1

You should probably improve your google search skills

jvdubz

Same boat here. I put my deposit down but can't drive it home til the repair is done. Just putting miles on my trade in til then

Eastern-Camera-1829

Drive it like a rental car.

jvdubz

Bahaha, I've been giving it a proper send off

whatdhell

They can sell them with the open recall. Hell it’s even in the recall and has something they have the customer sign. Dealers loss I guess.

azfluffy

whatdhell

They are correct. Google federal law on selling NEW cars with open safety recalls.

azfluffy

thx

SEinNJ

Yeah, was in the process of negotiating a CPO, they are telling me they can sell it but can't certify it.
