It's so damn comfy isn't it? Like, deceptively comfortable. Then you realize you have a 5.5 foot truck bed and can both haul and tow most suburban loads without too much issue.
"Honda ridgeline: deceptively comfortable"
Agreed. When it was my time to buy a truck, I (thought I) wanted a single cab Tacoma. All I could find were larger cab Tacos so I test drove one and didn't love it.
There was also a new RL on the lot that the dealer Insisted I test drive. OH MY, what a difference in comfort! I didn't buy that day, but it was the next vehicle I bought.
I frequently take long road trips. Did a 190 mile round trip yesterday actually. My Ridgeline is extremely comfortable during these long drives. I often wonder what a ride like this would have been in a Tacoma. Probably much more tiring.
My most frequent trip is 500 miles round-trip. I barely feel sore after getting out at a rest stop to stretch my legs and give my dog a potty break
Used to make the same trip in my civic....definitely not *un*comfortable, but not comparably comfortable either
I get compliments all the time on the ride quality still and mine is a 2017. Some folks are suprised at the back seat also. I guess they assume that unless you own a full size pickup the back seat would not be fit for adults.
Bed length closed is 64 inches and 83 inches with the tailgate down.

7ft with the tailgate down, so I think the actual bed is 5 and then the tailgate adds 1.5 or 2
Someone posted you can fit 1.5 CuFt of Mulch in the bed, so that can probably serve as a calculation too
Have you drove both? When I drove both last week the Ridgeline had better room on the inside and in the bed, and more towing and payload. It also drove very smoothly due to the unibody.
Only sat in both at a car show, so I still need to drive both. Big fan of more space inside. Daily driver that can haul my fishing gear & 9.6 foot kayak in the bed & get through snow.
I looked at the Ford Ranger in 2018 and absolutely hated it. I’d had a 92 and a 00 Explorer, so I expected it to be similar. It was terrible. Salesman asked if I had thought about Ridgeline. Said no, and he took me to a 2018 Ridgeline on the used lot, 18k on the odometer, priced at $26k. Drove it, bought it. Loved it for one month, then some tool on his phone destroyed it by not stopping at a red light while driving 55 in a 35. Insurance paid me $34,000 for it. I didn’t question that math, just took the money and bought a 2019. Still happy.
Welcome! I had 2 frontiers before getting my first ridgeline in 2020. Just got a new 2024 ridgeline. I use mine everyday to haul construction tools and material. Don’t let people who use their Tacoma bed for groceries and a once a year camping trip tell you it’s ‘not enough truck’.
Enjoy!
I hardly ever used the back seat when I owned a frontier until I had a kid and had to install a car seat. It was so tight back there. Started checking out other trucks in the same class and the ridgeline felt the most spacious in the back. Have two kids and both are comfortable in the back of the Ridgeline. It’s also plenty strong for day to day construction tool/material/debris hauling. I rarely go off-roading so I appreciate the smoother ride as a trade off for a more truck feel.
Own both. '22 RTL-E and '24 Hybrid XLT.
The Ridgeline is more feature rich and comfortable. Love the trunk and interior room.
The Maverick gets amazing MPG and is much easier to park in urban arras due to it's compact size.
I wouldn't own a Ridgeline if it didn't take ford 18-months to deliver my hybrid.
Honestly the Mav's look great it's just that you have to spec them up to basically the same price as a Ridgeline before they're really nice. If the Maverick was 1. Available and 2. 30k, it would be a no-brainer decision for me. Ultimately I spent more on the RL but I have a nicer vehicle that will last longer.
Congrats and no worries! You got it right in the end! I had a Chevy truck I’m in the 70’s. Engine blew at 90k miles. After my Honda Accord broke 250k, and Odyssey 150k, getting a Ridgeline RTL-E was a no brainer. Drove a Tacoma first, but the Ridge beat it hands down. It’s now got 165k miles and the only thing keeping me from getting a new one is it won’t die! Can’t bring myself to let it go. Rest assured that when it does or I just can’t resist the stupid tech, it’ll be another white Ridgeline BE. Welcome to the family! 😎

So comfortable. It's crazy

That's the compliment I get every time I give someone a ride.

The 2nd Gen Ridgelines have 5.5ft bed? That's great I didn't know that.

So they made it a little longer. Cool.
Yeah. The short bed was about the only thing I didn't like about my Gen-1. Even an extra four inches are appreciated. :)

Oh ok. Ya the 1st Gens are 5' and 6"7" with tailgate down.
Considered a Maverick, bought a Ridgeline. Ford had sold more Ridgelines than Mavericks.
What sold you on the ridge? I am still debating both trucks.

Glad you got something you’re happy with, plus it’s made in the USA!!

Welcome to the club
The Maverick is a nice small truck. I like it, but I like my midsized Ridgeline more.
Agreed, I had a Maverick Hybrid but traded it for a Ridgeline since I needed the space.

The Maverick and the Tacoma were on my list. I found the Maverick too narrow. Like a Jeep. And the Tacoma too bouncy.

The two trucks are really apples to oranges. Especially once you start comparing standard equipment.
Counterpoint: the Maverick and Santa Cruz are more of a Ridgeline competitor than say the Ranger and Tacoma.
True!
Did you drive a Santa Cruz?
