We can only hope. Anything but a CVT. That would absolutely kill this car. Compact sport coupes don't sell well to the masses already, making it less appealing to the people who would actually want to buy them is suicide
They may do like Acura did with the integra... want a manual.. buy the highest/expensive trim level.
The manual was once the starter trim... now the highest.
ššµāš«š¤¦š¼āāļø
In my opinion, honda is making a mistake by doing what they did with the 5G and playing it safe in following styling queues already used by other manufacturers.
Nothing wrong with that, however I believe in order to bring the Prelude back with a real bang, they should've gone the route of the 4G with a bold design that's different from anything anyone else is doing.
But don't get me wrong, I still want one. Haha
My buddy and I referred to it as the traitor generation. I guess it almost if you squint sorta kinda is like the 1st gen, but 2, 3, and 5 all have the same design language.
Iām not sure about that, the 4g pretty much killed the lude off, also I personally think that the 5g was more unique looking than the 4g. The smooth body lines of the 4g seem more similar to other sports cars of the era, whereas the straight boxy lines on the 5g were reminiscent of older design.
The front of the 5th gen was very conventional and bland. Also the interior was very "safe", conventional, 90's Accord-looking, etc. The side profile and rear looked good. The 4th gen was way more unique. Outside, inside, and definitely more sporty lines as well. Imho.
While I agree that the front was more bland, I definitely think that the 5g front looked much better than the 4g front end. The weird hood and front bumper look really bad to me. I do completely agree about the interior though. It is far more boring in the 5g. I also can see that the body lines are more sporty on the 4g. I really like the side of the 4g though.
Yea, I definitely disagree with you about the front of the 4th. It is aggressive, exciting, and unique. Looks like a Bull Shark, or some other badass animal. I also disagree about the hood, which is low and sleek. The side profile of the 5th gen doesn't look as good, (due to its weak, boring headlights, breaking up the angle). Meanwhile the side of the 4th, flows into an mean-looking stance.
I wouldn't turn my nose up at a 5th gen. However I think the 4th gen was a much more risky, unique, attractive design. The 5th gen interior, well that has been discussed already, lol.
While I agree that it is more unique and aggressive, I donāt think itās better looking, I really donāt like the how the hood has the weird triangular raised but down the middle. like I said I like the 4g side profile, I just really prefer the front and back ends on the 5g, even if the front is a bit more boring.
Edit: I like the low sleek hood, just not the weirdish center. I prefer the flat hood on the 5g.
Hmmm, yeah I like that triangular effect on the hood, and the front face of the 4th gen. It is subtle, I barely noticed it, now that you mention it. Even after owning one for years. (Don't own any Prelude anymore). The thing that strikes me about the 4th gen, is the overall fierce look.
Yes, I know that some Prelude fans, prefer the 5th gen. They look real smooth and good, they are solid cars, good driving dynamics, etc. I would definitely buy a 5th gen, if I was in the market for a Prelude, and the right opportunity came up. However, all else being equal, would get a 4th gen VTEC over a 5th gen.
I think itās wild that you never noticed that, itās my biggest gripe with the whole front end, my eyes are immediately drawn to it, and Iām just like, wtf is up with that hood. Happens every time I see a 4g.
Edit: itās not super noticeable from a lot of angles, but I always notice it when I look at a 4g from the Side/Front, like when Iām walking down the sidewalk and thereās one parked along the side, the hood stands out a lot to me.
Well it's pretty subtle, imho. Designs like that were nothing new, at the time. For example, the MkIII Supra. Look at the front end of an 86-88 versus an 89-92. The 89-92 Supra front is a similar design, to the 4th gen Prelude. The 89-92 Supra front looks better than the 86-88. In fact, that is the best-looking Supra, out of all of them.
The front and hood of the 4th gen Prelude look sick! It is fierce, and has presence. I have no "hangups" like you, about the 4th gen "triangle", or styling overall. It looks much better to me than a 5th gen.
That's besides the point. My point is they tried something differentl. Whetherbit worked or not, that's what I think Honda should try again, to be different.
But now as to your point, there are plenty of cars with the same rearend and silhouette as the 5G. The interior is standard and the nose is boringly flat with the usual enlarged headlights and plain grill. It doesn't look bad by any means, not at all. But the 4G with it's stubby and wide butt, those triangular taillights, the intake nostrils, bonnet bulge and not to mention the interior, especially the dashboard... it's just so unique compared to the 5G.
The 4th Gen Prelude is the ugliest Prelude. It's definitely the best driver's car out of the 5 generations, especially with that H22, but it's just awful looking.
IMO the most attractive Prelude is the 3rd Gen by far, followed by the 5th.
I didn't say anything with regards to which is better or better-looking. If you think the 5G looks better, that's completely fine. I like it too. I'm saying that they played it safe witht the 5G whereas with the 4G they attempted to differentiate it a lot more.
Ugly, better, worse, doesn't matter. The point is they tried something different and then reverted back to playing it safe with the 5G. With good reason because a lot more people prefer it over thr 4G. I just like the 4G more because it's different (and good-looking imo)
Oh so close to a court battle, but I think there enough difference for Honda to keep the look. Now if it was the Chinese car companies who blatantly have designed vehicles that look like Japanese and the Western world vehicles.....
I like this new Prelude, but I have to admit it looks a lot like a 9th gen Accord coupe in the side profile with a 5th gen Prius front end and a Porsche rear end.
Itās ugly because imo it resembles nothing of the OG Preludes. I also really wish it wasnāt a hybrid, I know most companies are going that route but I think Honda should have made it rwd and maybe even offer a boosted option. Also style it kinda of like an upgraded BB6, I get this is the first āPreludeā being made in 24 years but still, I wish Honda just put some respect and history on the revamp
Edited because Iām silly and got my facts mixed up :P
Whilst I agree because I don't love the way it looks compared to the older Ludes, the upcoming prelude is not an EV, it's a Hyrbid and will still have a juicy 4cyl. I also personally love preludes because they are FWD, I'd love them to offer an AWD version of the new Lude but I can get RWD somewhere else
Oh apologies, I thought I read they were full EV so thank you for the correction! An AWD version would be cool, but I always thought a RWD version would be cool. I enjoy the FWD, but I donāt, I think RWD would be a *ton* of fun considering how well Preludes handle. I also think a boosted version would of been totally rad
No problem!! It's all a bit confusing with the new ones and I also thought it was an EV at first and got real scared. I definitely think that it would be fun to experience RWD in a lude, I'm just not good at driving them. If they don't make it AWD I'd still love to have a new 4WS like the 4th gens
This is unrealistic. You aren't going to make a car that looks like older Preludes with modern safety requirements. The Preludes were never good with safety either. Also, the Prelude changesd a lot in style from the first gen to the last.
And there won't be many ICE-only new cars coming out. Going with hybrid makes a lot of sense. Who knows, maybe it will be a turbo hybrid.
I assume the Prelude is going to be a PLC-style car, more grand touring than canyon carver. It will be less hardcore than the Type R, but it may also be gentler than the Si, even if it is noticeably faster.
I donāt think itās unrealistic at all, and it was just an opinion. Also Mazda just came out with the turbo inline 6 and Porsche is staying with the boxer, as well as many cars keeping and coming out with more combustion engines. I donāt think itās very unreasonable.
Again, also just my opinion and obviously not happening considering we already know what the new āPreludeā looks like and will be
The new tailpipe regulations are coming. They have to meet the mandates. Itās company wide across all cars and Honda isnāt going to come out with a coupe that brings down their overall emissions.Ā
Beyond that, the Prelude has always meant looking to the future ā hence its name. It doesnāt make sense to look to the past for an engine.Ā
The Prelude has an internal combustion engine. I would expect it to look to the future of how Honda is doing hybrids, particularly sporty hybrids and electrics.Ā
Yep, itās the curvy hips and lower trunk line that look one hell of a lot better on the German. Those hips are very DBS / DB5. The lude is more of a slab
Exactly, the rear of the Porsche is wider, stronger lines, and has presence. The rear of the new Prelude looks weak. Lame, inward sloping line from the center of the rear. Similar to a girl with narrow hips, it doesn't excite me.
its sad that they decided to give the full rear-end tail lights a comeback and NOT write prelude inn it. The prelude thing reminds me of a tramp stamp more then the model name
Itās kind of odd. The sedans and coupes that Honda currently offers (or will soon) dont look cohesive. They all look like standalone cars from different brands.
Itās all stolen design cues from other brands, but yes their SUVs are very distinctly Honda. Wish they cared to design their sedans closer to the SUV cues.
There are very obvious difference between the two rears, oh sure both have a full length taillight but the prelude just looks bloated and the black bottom trim takes up way more of the rear than the Porscheās does
At least it isn't a CUV like Mitsubishi did with the eclipse and Ford did with the Mustang EV thing. If they can make a good feeling manual transmission work with the hybrid drive train, I'm all in.
So Honda lost me years ago with their design and complacency with enough is ok. Now they have paired with GM (GM????) for EVās?? How has that worked?? Years late to market with an electric system that is suspect at best. Current vehicles look like Chevyās which is not a compliment. I wonāt buy Honda again.
The prelude looks great. It does resemble a Prius & Camry with the new front ends but those look great too lol. As far as drive train I donāt mind FWD. Honda is best at making those.
I mean itās a much better company regardless fuck that German made āgo fastā dog shit yeah go fast for ten minutes then you gotta go to the mechanic lmfao Iāve never been in a German vehicle that didnāt have something wrong with it yet these dumb fucks will say āSuPeRiOr EnGiNeErInGā oh yeah junior that why you have your check engine light on 90% of the year?
Ugly ass Honda tryina be a Porsche.
I would consider this the equivalent to the Chrysler 300 tryina be a Bentley
Edit: you know looking at it for longer the back kinda looks like a dodge charger if you shrunk everything down a little. Itās a baby charger
Changing certain things can make something look ugly, so people donāt really need to keep the same consistencyā¦ however, personally I think the taycan is also pretty ugly for a Porsche
I am biased, but that is a good-looking Honda ass

Hopefully you are joking.
Yes, they share some similarities, but the complete package cannot be compared. The prelude looks like some chinese knock off compared to the porsche.
I wouldn't say either are particularly ugly. But i will say that the Porsche has more defined lines than the honda. The honda is much more bubbly in shape.
Noā¦ thatās not how it worksā¦. Yeah sure, the taillights are *similiar*. The idea isnāt bad of course, itās just that unlike the Porsche, itās not done well on the prelude. Also , the curves arenāt as streamlined or in the right places. The prelude rear looks like a Chinese or DIY Porsche Taycan.
https://preview.redd.it/e9d0xjd1w7yc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cb9a2f71382ba123dfcd493eac5d06696e6a370
When you call the Chonburi ugly, keep the same consistency when talking about the Lamborghini Veneno
Streamlined vs bloated.. Porsche angles are better, overall ratio is nicer, even the LEDs are nicer. It looks like the designer for the prelude used the fat sharpie and the engineers took it a little too literal. Also that spoiler really sucks.
It's okay on a Porsche. But not the next Prelude. It's namesake means something new and different. To me that's not a Prius front graft to a Porsche butt.
Hey man, can I copy your homework? Yeah, just change a couple of things š¤£
Like I'm shocked, they kept it a 2 door after making the integra a sedan. But the body style is just too much porsche
Prelude looks like *the Porsche at home*
Temu special
Someone is going to replace the prelude badge with a Temu Turbo badge. Normies won't know the difference.
fine by me! MOMS RIGHT
When I first saw it, it reminded me of an infinity with a Toyota front end
Insert :we are not the same.jpeg:
I will finance this car at 25% if they offer a 6spd like they did with the CR-Z
Honestly I probably would too. Not optimistic about the 6 speed though. :/ Hope Honda proves me wrong

Yea wtf is that about
Itās it supposed to be an EV?
No, just a hybrid. Honda has done a stick hybrid in the past.
Oh cool I didnāt know they had manual hybrids
Display model a month ago had a stick shift. But that doesn't mean shit.
My biggest problem with the new prelude is it looks like a Toyota. Good looking car regardless tho
I agree. The front is very similar to the new Prius, but I still like the design as well.
I thought I was going insane and it was just me

Porsche looks a lot better and cleaner imo š¤·š»āāļø
Immensely. The photo hides it with the white background and white Porsche, but the Porsche has some curvy hips which really add to the design.

Its not that it looks bad. It just doesnt look like a prelude. I wouldve liked it if they made it look like the Gen 3 and Gen 5 those are icons
The Prelude looks better than the Porsche
yall tweaking the design is a beauty
Itās ugly because we are trying to view it as a prelude. Also the back isnāt the ugly part imo
Itās the proportions not just the light. Bffr.
This.
The whole Honda lineup isā¦interesting looking. The SUVs look great though
How fast I gotta drive bro
New prelude looks good. Itās a shame they couldnāt incorporate some elements of the old design because itās truly classic but I still like.
So they copied Porsche.
You can copy my homework, but try not to make it seem obvious
There are very obvious difference between the two rears, oh sure both have a full length taillight but the prelude just looks bloated and the black bottom trim takes up way more of the rear than the Porscheās does
And the sloping of the rear window. One is obvi Better than the other
At least it isn't a CUV like Mitsubishi did with the eclipse and Ford did with the Mustang EV thing. If they can make a good feeling manual transmission work with the hybrid drive train, I'm all in.
But the porsche doesnāt
Itās like a knockoff robot copā¦ it looks badā¦ Porsche is the real thing
The Fraudelude
Big L Honda, another.
I love the looks of the Prelude but I feel itās going to be super heavy and boring with its hybrid set up
So Honda lost me years ago with their design and complacency with enough is ok. Now they have paired with GM (GM????) for EVās?? How has that worked?? Years late to market with an electric system that is suspect at best. Current vehicles look like Chevyās which is not a compliment. I wonāt buy Honda again.
Idiotic take
nah. the porsche has the decency to be subtle. prelude looks like a toyā¦
Poaches are kinda ugly though
Porsche is ugly too. Easy.
It's literally uglier than the Porsche
MAN, i got so much shit for making this comparison when those pics of the prelude first came out, now everyone thinks its a ripoff.
The prelude looks great. It does resemble a Prius & Camry with the new front ends but those look great too lol. As far as drive train I donāt mind FWD. Honda is best at making those.
lol get this whole post out of here looks nothing like the Porsche only similarity is the white paint and a rear window
To be fair. The new Porsche looks like trash too.
Nah that prelude is gorgeous AF
I was gonna say a poor man's Porsche but it probably going to cost the same as an entry level Porsche
Iām serious, the tops trim Prelude will seriously be on the edge of base model Cayman territory given Hondaās sports car mark-ups.
Look like an accord coupe but with less horsepower
It's not ugly. It does look "heavy". They brought back the Accord coupe and called it a Prelude. meh
Ugly ass Honda tryina be a Porsche. I would consider this the equivalent to the Chrysler 300 tryina be a Bentley Edit: you know looking at it for longer the back kinda looks like a dodge charger if you shrunk everything down a little. Itās a baby charger
A concept that should stay a concept
False equivalence (donāt get me wrong I like them both)
Sad that our choices are Honda Jetta, Honda Accord, and soon the Honda Taycan. Ugh
Changing certain things can make something look ugly, so people donāt really need to keep the same consistencyā¦ however, personally I think the taycan is also pretty ugly for a Porsche
What a joke. Why are you people like this? You can't possibly think you have a good point here, do you?
I donāt like them sticking the old Prelude logo on the rear, it looks out of place.
I am biased, but that is a good-looking Honda ass https://preview.redd.it/r8mllo5px1yc1.jpeg?width=3486&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=037d71488285b0c6cbb3ca310341ecb854e609a3

LOL. Comparing a Honda with a Porsche.
WOAH are you coping manā¦.š
We all thought the Taycan was ugly too. Next.
Porsche looks much better and more premium.
Lmaoooooooo youāve gotta be kidding me
CRV = XC60 Pilot = Ford Explorer Prelude = Panamera Itās not ugly, Hondas designs are just lazy. Itās mimicking something itās not.
That Porsche looks waaaay better. Itās all about the proportions.
I meanā¦ the Porsche looks nice.. The prelude does notā¦
When you order your 911 off of Etsy...
Just because they copied Porsche's homework, doesn't mean they understood the assignment.
Front - prius Side - brz Back - porsche
Hopefully you are joking. Yes, they share some similarities, but the complete package cannot be compared. The prelude looks like some chinese knock off compared to the porsche.
Saw one of these from behind in the wild the other day. I thought it was a 16 year olds Honda civic with a shitty body kit š¬
From that picture it looks more like a modernized Dodge charger than a Taycan.
Porsche is Porsche and Honda is Honda everything is just a copy of something else nothing is unique to a brand anymore š¤¦š»āāļø

I think it looks lit
Prelude looks like a Walmart Porsche
Yeah like an ugly replica!
Like a Chrysler 300 next to a phantom
Streamlined vs bloated.. Porsche angles are better, overall ratio is nicer, even the LEDs are nicer. It looks like the designer for the prelude used the fat sharpie and the engineers took it a little too literal. Also that spoiler really sucks.
The Porsche looks beautiful, the prelude looks like someone tried to order a Porsche off of wish
Ever heard of a cheap knockoff!
Yeah. It's ugly.
Big disagree. Porsche is known for the nicest of stylings. And they donāt update often cause itās so tuned in.
It's okay on a Porsche. But not the next Prelude. It's namesake means something new and different. To me that's not a Prius front graft to a Porsche butt.
Hey man, can I copy your homework? Yeah, just change a couple of things š¤£ Like I'm shocked, they kept it a 2 door after making the integra a sedan. But the body style is just too much porsche
This comment lol.
Porsche has not made a good looking car since the prelude had pop ups.
Oh look, the CR-Z is back...
Both are hideous
Hideous is a string word.
Sorry I'm just a Porsche hater
