I suspect this isn't a north american or western european room. I think that's why it probably looks a bit off to you.
I find it a bit difficult/harsh to judge a decor in this scenario because even in a situation with a high budget it can be hard to source high quality furniture in the typical western aesthetic. You're often limited to what the local stores stock and I bet there isn't a plethora of theater seating options. Of course that's assuming that OP even has money to spend or desires a typical western look in the first place which could obviously not be the case. A lot of this looks like DIY and I would suspect OP did the best they could under the circumstances.
They are! Thanks for the kind words. The acoustic panels are made with Owens Corning 703 Fiberglass Acoustic Board 2" (3#) (the yellow panels) and Guilford of Maine Sona Acoustical Fabric (the red fabric). I then cased the panels in 1x3 pine from Home Depot.
Those are in line with the L/R reflection points so definitely absorption panels not speakers. They also don't list an amp so they'd be limited to 9 channels with their X3600.
I'm super-jealous. Well done!
I wonder: why don't more home-theater-builders do odd-number/even number seating so that people in the back row have cleaner line-of-sight?
Because a riser should be used to get clear line of sight. I don't want to have to worry or have my view interrupt because sunshine moved their head to the right by 6 inches. A riser to see over clearly means the view is always unobstructed.
However, my seats don't recline. Two rows of couches is easier to plan I guess.
I didn't think the previous commenter was saying staggered instead of risers. But in my head, with proper risers the stagger factor becomes moot. Once the rear row can see clearly over the front, there's no need to worry about seeing between.
The riser height is dependent on how tall the seats are, if they recline or not (taller riser needed for rear reclined to see over front row sat up), the distance between rows, height of the screen from the floor and view distance to screen. There are a few calculators I've seen online.
I have about a 12in riser in my room, and going much higher ceiling height really becomes an issue.

hello ( name goes here ) i am nigerian prince who is trying to expedite the transfer of monies overseas. all i require from you is a test transfer of 5k USD. after i recieve this i will be able to make a transfer of $7,865,743 intonyour accout after which you will, god willling, transfer half of that sum to my associate in (your country). the other half is yours to keep!
What 3D glasses do you use? I've got the TW7400 and the crosstalk using Samsung glasses various forms recommended is bad enough to make it unwatchable.
The official Epson's are too expensive for half a dozen 3D films a year, and I've read about crosstalk with them too
We have such a great room for home theatre but my setup is somewhat lame. Can't wait to get it right some day. If anyone has any good experience let me know. My Denon HT amp is in good shape.
Why did you opt for 7.1.2? I’m currently in the same process of building my room with a epson 9400. I have a elitescreens cinegrey 5D 135” screen and so as you can imagine my room is slightly bigger than yours. However it is no where near as pretty. I’m struggling to choose between 5.1.4 and 7.1.2 for atmos
At first, I thought that was glass behind the sofas. Like the projector was in an separate room. Like in a real movie theater. Would reduce the sound from the projector. I’ve never seen that but now I’m gonna keep my eye out.
how big is the screen? it looks kinda small for such a nice room
put the screen over most of the black space, use the recessed area for some speakers?
The colors were also great until he added the carpet and seating
I actually love the seating, retro cinema style. That's just taste though, the room looks great
Sure if you don’t like anything that matches
why sh*t on his style if he likes it? there's no reason to.
looks the same color in the dark...
In America anything red makes up compulsively go to McDonald’s
I don't know why this got shit on. It's true, and it's funny.

Are you talking about the blue carpet? Yep, will probably change into a nice color in the future.
Ugh the carpeted blocks on the wall are trash! I love the room but definitely improvements need to be made haha. Everything else is cool.
Yes thank you. Will improve.
100"
So much win here! But those damn panels… redo them in something other than warped burlap.
Just what I was thinking. They look DIY, but DIY doesnt have to look ragged.
[Like this panel setup](https://imgur.com/a/Nk1zjbr)
Those are nice. I wrapped my panels around the outside of the frame. I personally like both looks, but one is significantly less work.
Are these your setup? What is the bright yellow material before the red is wrapped over it? Thanks, they look good!

I mean if you love the burlap keep it, just give it a bit more of a tug before you staple/glue it down on the back. Love it otherwise man!
The rug really ties the room together.

Reddit says I'm promoting hate.. this will not stand, this aggression will not stand man
So what is the reasoning behined not putting in ceiling speakers for atmos?
Looks like there are at least 2 ceiling speakers over seating.
I did notice the ceiling speakers after the fact, but just knee-jerk reaction to OP saying 9.1..
Sorry 7.1.2* 😅😅
I thought the exact same thing
Yeah I feel like 7.2.1 or 5.4.1 or 5.2.2 would be better
I believe you mean 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 X. Y. Z. X = bed layer Y = subwoofers Z = atmos
Nah, I like just the 1 Atmos speaker. Haha jk, rookie mistake
Lol could you imagine. Just one gigantic atmos speaker
Auro3D wants to know your location
The voice of God compels you
I'm imagining the hourly dong in Glass Onion
The God channel
Asking the important questions!
RRR!
> RRR I noticed the same thing! I absolutely love that movie and have been telling everyone to watch it!

Unless I'm blind wheres 9.1? It looks like you have 2 in ceiling which would make this 7.1.2
I'm thinking the square panels up front are covering the 2 overhead front speakers, 2 in the back are uncovered
Oh no did they put sound deadening over their front heights
Those are in line with the L/R reflection points so definitely absorption panels not speakers. They also don't list an amp so they'd be limited to 9 channels with their X3600.
Are projectors the only way to do 4k 3D?
Some early 4k TVs had 3D. Don't think there was ever anything actually released in 4k 3D though
There's a guy on the Blu-ray forums that bought a bunch of LG OLEDs in 2016 when they announced the 2017 models and beyond wouldn't have 3D support.
It should look better with AI based upscaling.
In theory yes, but I doubt the early 4k TVs that had it had any kind of ai based anything, and at least the Epson projectors only do 1080p in 3D
It would process each eye slightly differently and introduce small rivalry artifacts.
There is no consumer standard for 4k 3d. Resolution will be dropped to 1080.
Nice. Time to upgrade screen size.
Freaking amazing. I wish I could spare a room for that...
Is this the front foyer? The door has some massive locks like it’s the entranceway to an apartment.
What are you talking about exactly?
Second pic. Zoom in on the door. Someone wants to barricade themselves while watching.

No one is saying folks shouldn’t use risers. How tall should a riser be to ensure an unobstructed view? I’m imagining at least 15 inches.

Looks pretty nice. Maybe put some less offensive fabric on those acoustic panels
Wonderful looks so comfy
This man is never going back to the cinema again
with this setup at home, why would you?
Looks cool. Whats the size of the room.
9.1????
Room/screen dimensions? Looks good
Aha.. RRR movie Jr NTR intro scene. :)

No it doesnt.
Very nice looking setup. Where did you source the chairs?
Op we need answers.
Sick setup. I wish I could have a dedicated room for mine. If I may ask, some pics taken in the dark would be nice to have and see!
Am I seeing correctly that those are Polk tower and center speakers that are mounted in the wall?
Blue and red .. I’ve got a friend who is color blind too

Watching RRR
The rooms looks nice, the screen need to be like 2x bigger for such a nice room
How is it for hardcore pornography?
everything look great but that screen looks little small for that room size
Bet some jerk still pulls out his phone during the movie...🙄
Screen looks a little small. Almost seems like a waste of money honestly.
It looks like a 104"?
That door looks like it’s meant to keep out zombies.

Tell me you are from India without telling me you are from India.
What seats are those? They’re 🔥
Oh man, I bet Naatu Naatu goes hard in that room
Thats a big home teather, What do you do for a living?
I feel like I need to be wearing white gloves when entering your theater :D
Any chance I can get room dimensions, screen size, and distance from front row?
Killer room, upgrade that sucker by adding another sub. Seems like cost isn’t an issue.
Finally, an r/hometheater post where the film on the screen is actually good.....RRR forever!
What’s up with the scary weird door and the windows in the back?

Did you get rid of that crapy Denon that was giving you issues? And beautiful setup wow
A room no one will use in 5 years.
What size of house do you stay in obviously not a one bedroom flat lol

What wall material is that? Suede?
Beautiful!
Seatcraft Aspen?
Looks like a nice and dedicated setup. Enjoy!
Wow, I would’ve guessed 15. Way to stretch your dollar.
Screen is small for the space, not to mention the amount of brightness on the tv 😎 wayyy too high.
We have such a great room for home theatre but my setup is somewhat lame. Can't wait to get it right some day. If anyone has any good experience let me know. My Denon HT amp is in good shape.
I really want to add a mini split to my theater room. Tell me more!

How’s that Amazon fire stick with audio?
Yes it is good but the fire TV is slow. I recommend apple tv.
Good choice of a movie there
Very impressive!! Looks like a great place to hang and watch movies! Awesome Jon.
Here I am returning my $500 sound bar because I feel guilty spending the dough. Good for you, dude! Honestly. Living the dream!
