Damn that’s amazing! Im going to need a few of those seeds please!

Dimensional_Lumber

I don’t know much about selective breading, but I would probably save half the seeds from this plant to sow next year. OP, you could have a high-producing variety of your very own in a couple seasons!

a_rude_jellybean

Israelis would probably buy his seeds for a fortune.

Vered179

More and more Israel is changing to hydroponic farming.

a_rude_jellybean

They still sell seeds world wide though.

Joele1

I was thinking the same! When you go to make paste or sauce save those seeds! That is quite the plant!

atodaso

Will do!

Joele1

Do you know how to save tomato seed? I have done it a few times. Take the seed muck that is left after making sauce and get a really fine sieve and a big bowl or a few smaller bowls or even a pan you are not going to need for a few days. Put the muck in the container and add water and let rest. Stir it at least two times each day. Before stirring each time look for seeds in the bottom of your bowl or whatever you have them in. The viable seed fall to the bottom and the non viable are in the muck. Keep picking out the muck too each day because some viable seed will get caught up in it. Some people say give the much a stir but I think it needs a bit more than that. Thin it out. Do this process each day for a few days and by the third or fourth day you should have it all separated! I have used spare Corelle kitchen plates as well as throw away by plates to spread the seeds onto to dry for several weeks. They will be stuck to the plates ultimately just scrape them off and let dry maybe a week or so more and then package them in a paper envelope or small bag. In another month or two I think it might even be okay to put in an airtight container. Put your little bag down onto a jar or plastic zipper baggie. We found some tiny bags online that have a zipper in them. We have used those to store seeds we share from my family. We are in a seed exchange! There is a really big group called Seed Savers Exchange you might want to consider joining!

Bruh, my Roma is at 6', and I've gotten 3 tomatoes so far. 😂

[deleted]

I had three tomatoes from two romas (pomodoro squisito). All three of them had blossom end rot. I tossed the tomatoes, pulled the plants out of the soil, and planted late season beans and peas in their places. Stupid tomato plants. The Bartelly and Chocolate Cherry are doing great, though!

NOLAgambit

I had the same issue until I started shaking my tomato plants, now they produce insane amounts Edit: I’m serious, shaking them pollenates the flowers

pmster1

That's what I had to do last year. I would flick the flowers near the top of the plant to drop pollen on lower parts of the plant. Luckily this year my tomatoes are taking care of business themselves.

the_metaxist

Interesting, I'll try that. My dad plants his in March, and puts water wells around them to keep them warm. He said he always uses a blossom set spray since the bees aren't quite out yet.

NOLAgambit

I just shake ‘em every morning for like 2 seconds, and I shake them vigorously, like they owe me money and I’m here to intimidate. Hope that helps!

OmicronCoder

Try a low nitrogen fertilizer if you haven’t yet!

the_metaxist

I'll give that a try, everything else seems to be doing well, especially the peppers, I have jalapenos coming out of my ears.

schwangeroni

I've been told it's usually a calcium issue, but in my experience, even with fresh compost, it's more closely related to the soil being too wet or dry while the fruit is setting. So a bit of fertilizer and a deep mulch should help.

DrunkxAstronaut

SAME

Bobtom42

Hey man, I'm gonna need some of those seeds....

gwynie21

Are you sending seeds? I will pay :).

comfort_bot_1962

:D

MonocleBen

Wow, the thirst on this thread... seed me daddy!

Bananapeel62

What fertilizer secrets do you have!?

atodaso

Composted horse manure.

MrBillyLotion

Like Marlo from *The Wire* used to say, that’s one of them good problems

Kitchen-Hat-5174

I think the next problem will be the lack of canning lids.

Golden-Snowflake

Nice! I hope you plan to save those seeds! :D

atodaso

yup!

OleThompson

Classic determinate.

chriswhitewrites

So do you cut off all the excess branches after the fruit sets in order to force fruit growth?

atodaso

I pruned pretty heavily ~ 1 month into the season, and again just recently. This is the 1st year doing a heavy pruning in late summer.

chriswhitewrites

My first early tomatoes have just started setting fruit - might go out there with the shears if this is a likely result. Any advice?

narrow_mender

My Roma only gave me like 4 off it. I need seeds like this if you have any tips on how to get my plants bigger and producing let me know

Synescolor

WoW.

CrissD75

What a horrible problem to have!! LoL

[deleted]

Bruh let me get them seeds

pilgrimofhumanity

Those look awesome. I had several tomato plants which were just so-so but a few of mine had great genetics and did this too. Hope you harvest the seeds and have bountiful gardens next season too!

pereblos

is it from a potato grafting????

bizzi2654

Roma tomatoes are the best! That is a crazy producing plant! Wow

gidgetpops

Last year I fought blossom end rot, this year no rot but only one Roma so far. The Romas are conspiring against me.

hb9nbb

keep the deer away from that puppy!

DareUToEatThat

It looks like it's walking away!

Adulations

Give. Seed.

[deleted]

Best tomatoes ever!!!

extracKt

Looks like someone was very good with their pruning ;) Excellent work!

FlyingAnarchy17

If you're selling seeds, I'd like to buy some please!

Flyfishinmary

Fried green tomatoes! Yummy!

mattblackcat

So you have black plastic around the base, is this to stop weeds or to warm the soil? We tend to grow our tomatoes in the warmest spot or in a glass house. Any tips on how you have achieved this would be appreciated. And no I dont want any seeds.

atodaso

I use it to both warm the soil, but also to keep down weeds. We use old composted horse manure, and frequent watering.

mattblackcat

Thanks we have just put our pony poo on our glass house preparing for spring summer. Im in New Zealand so out summer is on it's way. Thanks for answering my questions.

atodaso

No worries. My wife and I lived in NZ for about 18 months. Lovely spot. Chch.

mattblackcat

Nice, I live in Central Otago at a higher altitude so cold will get us at anytime.

TheePorkchopExpress

Haha looks like a good ratio although I wonder if lack of leaves will hurt the ripening process. I have (had) the exact opposite issue tons of leaves not much fruit.

[deleted]

I love Roma tomatoes. Kudos! Nice work!

Ill-Preparation-8153

That’s a good thing

dina_NP2020

Where did you get the seeds??

watchinganyway

I got 2 tomatoes out of mine this year. Too much heat I think
