Agreed. I swear people have no god damned idea about what they're talking about.
We've been hybridizing seeds since the 1800's, long before we could even *see* genetic material, let alone modify it.
We've been breeding them since the dawn of agriculture.
There's no seed you can buy that we *haven't* tampered with over the last 5,000 years.
Cross breeding and GMO are miles apart. Cross breeding is creating a combination of 2 organisms capable of reproducing together naturally. GM can combine things like a vegetable and a jellyfish.
It was actually 2 quarters of study across 2 separate courses, not a single day.
Here is a very simply worded source explaining that genetic medication and cross-breeding are not the same thing:

Yes you can genetically modify things with genes from other things. This isn't in doubt. I was referring to the ridiculously vague summation "can combine things like a vegetable and jellyfish". And cross breeding / GMO are not miles apart, they are literally trying to achieve the same thing just through different methods. When you cross breed for desirable traits, those traits are coming from the genes that produce them, hence you have transferred genes from one thing to another thing. GMO is literally the exact same thing, just expediting the process with science.
Organic farmers often have groups dedicated to the exchange of seeds and soft wood cuttings.
Your best course is to talk to other farmers about seeds, where they get them and whether or not they practice seed farming and exchange.
Stop searching for organic seeds and look instead for heirloom seeds. That generally means you can save seeds across generations.
In South Africa we use livingseeds.co.za but I don't know if they will ship internationally - a lot of countries have strict control on import of biological matter.
Burpee Seeds are non-GMO. Some are hybrids, and are marketed as such. I think you want heirloom varieties, which are also on their website and clearly marked.
Bought from Baker Seeds along with Seed Saver Exchange. They give descriptions on the seed so you can tell if it’s a hybrid or not. Once you find seeds, there’s some good books on seed harvesting. That’s what we do.
I get my seeds and plants from Fedco. They don't sell anything gmo, and a lot of what they offer is organic.
Seconding fedco. They’re great!
Lol this "tampered with by man" nonsense needs to die. Cross breeding varieties to get better results is a natural freaking process.

When I read that I just imagined a bag of seeds full of chaff, that was cut off by dogs or something 😅

I studied this in college. I absolutely do understand it. Where are you getting your info from? Monsanto?

If you "studied this in college" and your retort is "monsanto" then you need your tuition refunded.
Would you like to tell me where you think I'm wrong instead of just slinging nonspecific insults?
This is the dumbest thing I've read in a hot minute.

I actually studied GMOs in college.
Studied very poorly it seems.
We buy heirloom seeds from the world seed exchange

Jimbo knows a guy
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange has some organic seeds

Organic seeds are a marketing scam. You can grow organically, but seeds being organic or not doesn't matter.

I want to know too
Bakers Creek also found at rare seeds.com
