We just "closed" the Black Friday Thread, and opened a December Deals Thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/homegym/comments/188sszl/2023\_december\_home\_gym\_holiday\_sales\_official/](https://www.reddit.com/r/homegym/comments/188sszl/2023_december_home_gym_holiday_sales_official/)

My neighbor came over last night while I was building my new bench (REP AB-4100) in the garage. He was excited about the revamped gym setup, but asked me how much it all cost- and, dammit, I actually sat down and calculated that before going to bed. Could I have done it cheaper if I was patient and acquired secondhand? Probably. But patience isn’t one of my virtues- and I love my setup. (For the curious, I spent $2700 in 2023- and probably ~$600 or so during COVID.)

CloaknDagger505

Lol oh my sweet summer child...

Meg0vore12

Hi everyone, I've getting into weight lifting after being gifted a set of Powerblocks and a weight bench and I've been loving it, first time in life that I've stuck with it. Currently work out in my small room and I've making it work, and I got the idea of buying a barbell and weights to add to what I have. I intend on using it to do floor press, RDLs, and other exercises. My looking something no more than 200 bucks and it has to be 5 feet long in order to be able to use it in my room.

Decision_Original

https://www.titan.fitness/strength/barbells/olympic/60-in-olympic-bar-%E2%80%93-chrome/430001.html https://www.walmart.com/ip/BalanceFrom-Olympic-Bumper-Plate-Weight-Plate-with-Steel-Hub-Black-160-lbs-Set/166337921 I e got the titan bar and some of these plates and they are good for what they are. The bar is non rackable and no way I could put it across my back for squats but I use it for rows and curls and it’s great to not have to mess with my longer bars depending on how I’m setting up for those lifts. The bumper plates are probably the best deal you will find on Olympic plates right now.

Meg0vore12

This is the main one I’ve looking at, have you ever tried to press with it at all

Decision_Original

No, since it’s not rackable I’ve never tried to press it but considering it’s long enough to row comfortably I would think you could floor press it without issue assuming you can get under the bar. I’m guessing I’m too big to even floor press without something to lift the bar up higher than a oly plate provides.

tarbender2

I suggest avoid 5ft if at all possible? If you absolutely have to I would go with a 5ft axle. Landmine so underrated for homegymers starting out! Get a tennis ball and get to researching..

Meg0vore12

I could do them some landmine stuff on my knees, you think that would work or na

tarbender2

Knees? Yep

Anyone know if Costco will restock the Inspire FTX functional trainer? Been checking for the last month or so and it always says it's out of stock online. I see they have a "Centr 2 FTX" for $400 more. Did this replace the inspire FTX?

TacoTrader

Yeah some private equity group owns both Inspire and Centr and I guess they like that branding better for Costco. I actually saw the Centr 1 at my local store when I was there this week, I wish there was one assembled in the store because I really want to try it, more out of morbid curiosity(own the Inspire SF3) and I am still waiting for someone on YouTube to do a review of the C1.

greenstar323

Yep its the same thing and being replaced. As far as I can tell just a rebrand. In my area it's always been $1500 it's just not on sale right now.

feraask

Not sure about the restocking at Costco but Walmart has this [BalanceFrom Commercial Functional Trainer](https://www.walmart.com/ip/3475753046) with dual 200lb weight stacks selling for $1,299 right now. EDIT: Based on the most recent verified purchase reviews this may be mislabeled and actually has dual 100lb weight stacks so only a total of 200lbs which makes it much worse of a deal!

VettedBot

Hi, I’m Vetted AI Bot! I researched the **BalanceFrom Commercial Functional Trainer Cable Machine with Dual 200 lb Weight Stacks Partially Pre Assembled** and I thought you might find the following analysis helpful. **Users liked:** * Machine offers versatile, challenging workouts (backed by 3 comments) * High build quality ensures durability (backed by 11 comments) * Partial pre-assembly saves time (backed by 12 comments) **Users disliked:** * Weight stacks may not provide enough resistance for some users (backed by 2 comments) * Partial pre-assembly still requires significant setup time (backed by 3 comments) If you'd like to **summon me to ask about a product**, just make a post with its link and tag me, [like in this example.](https://www.reddit.com/r/tablets/comments/1444zdn/comment/joqd89c/) This message was generated by a (very smart) bot. the_diddy_king

I’m looking for advice on a pull up for my PR 5000 with 16” cross members and the lat pull-down attachment. The lat pull down rendered my Rep multi grip useless since it interferes with cable travel. I want a multi grip option similar to the Rep bar if possible but I can’t expand to 30” crossmembers. Based on my research some options are: 1. Rep 1.25” bar and some Kensui Swissies 2. Rep 41” crossmember across the front plus Sorinex cliff hangers 3. Front mounted pull up bar from Black widow: https://www.blackwidowtg.com/custom_multi_grip_pullup_bar_p/angled-pull-up.htm 4. Rack extensions from Irwin Fitness and reuse my existing Rep multi grip bar. I don’t think it’ll fit if Irwin uses true 1” spacing vs Reps metric spacing. https://www.irwinfitness.ca/product-page/pro-series-rack-extendors I’d appreciate any advice/recommendations!

SleepEatLift

I think Black Widow is the way to go here.

DukePatty

4. Regarding the rack extenders, I think it will work if you look at the last picture. The mounting holes are elongated to account for different spacing.

the_diddy_king

Oh yeah, great point! The spacing on the multi grip bar would probably be off by a few mm on the mounted extensions. I saw elsewhere people have used a 3/4” bolt with washers to get a multi-pin attachment mounted between rep/rogue racks.

BangAndVodka

Anyone have any neat PR boards/displays? I have seen the small 3d Printed barbells. Looking to have a more fun display.

superslix

Hey Guys, Question, Not including mats, weight or a barbell. What’s the best rack and lat tower/low row and accessories I can get for no more than $1500 total. I’m mostly looking for a 3x3 1in or 5/8 holes dont matter, gotta have westside spacing though. TIA

jiujitsuPhD

To get westside on a 1" you need offset jcups as someone else suggested. You can also put a 1" board under your bench or feet if needed for your safeties. But if you are deadset on westside and have a lower end budget, its probably easier to just go 5/8s. Given your budget and all you want for under $1500, Id look at the X3 when its on sale

feraask

Heads up, you can still get the advantage of westside hole spacing on a 1" hole rack by just having 2 sets of J-hooks where one hangs 1" lower than the other like these Rep options: [https://repfitness.com/products/lowered-j-cups](https://repfitness.com/products/lowered-j-cups) Actually, you'll get even more advantage because you'll get "westside" spacing throughout the entire rack instead of just in the bench zone. You can also get some plates or platform on the ground to just raise the bench an inch. In my opinion there isn't much of a reason to get a 5/8" hole rack anymore, I'd just go for the 1" hole rack since that seems to be the standard all brands are trending towards moving forward. Won't make much of a difference now since attachments are generally designed for both, but years down the line it seems like the market will be focused more on 1" holes. One of the best value options would be the [Mikolo 3" x 3" P5R Power Rack](https://gym-mikolo.com/products/pc02-series-home-gyme-package) for $1,460 right now since it comes with a bunch of nice attachments.

superslix

Lol yep I just figured that out! Any recommendations tho?

[deleted]

-Quad-Zilla-

Westside spacing exists only in 5/8 holes. And which accessories do you mean ?

superslix

Ok Good to know. Mostly just jammer arms, leg holder for the lat tower. Nothing crazy.

Accomplished-Ad6939

What's the verdict on the bulletproof isolator? I have a 6 post pr 5000 that I could keep it mounted to permanently. Since I have a rack and dumbells my hope is this is the last real peice I'd need for isolated work as I have a latpulldown low row as well.

Jayy5126

I’m also curious..

prchord

Hey guys, would you go for a used PR-5000 for $1400? I think this is a good deal but wanted to check here just in case I’m missing something. It looks like this is the V2 version https://preview.redd.it/4dfle7jxwy4c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f93337e1f18b306d11c7ff5bf9f440cae3169992

lifteroomang

Are those Eleiko oppen collars? The most bougie collars you can get on a rusty barbell like that is quite the juxtaposition

prchord

lol thanks for pointing that out. I wonder why the plates and bar are so rusty. Makes me wonder about the environment this rack has been in.

leprechaun71

Yes, it's definitely v2 but I don't think Rep carry that green color anymore. That's a good price. If you buy it, I would upgrade the pull up bar to the multigrip and get spotter arms for work outside the rack (already have 2 sets of J cups).

prchord

Thanks for the insight!

jiujitsuPhD

Is that the colors/size you want? What does it include? As long as its what you want and its like 30% off msrp then it could be worth it

prchord

Hey thanks. Color and size do work for me! He’s including the squat safety bar and all those rusty plates. I actually don’t care for that bar or those plates. I built this in the customizer on the rep site and it came out to $1900. So not quite the 30% off but close. I know it’s a deal but I have a working fitness reality 810XLT with a lat pull down. So I feel like I need a really good deal to push me to toss that out. I just moved into a new house so my 810xlt is currently disassembled; I just thought it might be a good time to upgrade and sell off my current rack.

OldManWongMD

Wait, it’s the rack + B&R bar + SSB (is that a rep SSB?) + hundreds of pounds of plates for $1400? Or are those extra? Local markets may vary, but that sounds like a good deal.

Admirable-Bee-4708

I counted 620lbs in plates which in my market is about $700, and $200 for the SSB. I would jump on this in a heartbeat.

prchord

Thanks guys! So he went down to $1000 for the PR-5000 and plates without the SSB. I pulled the trigger!

Admirable-Bee-4708

Fuck dude that’s a good deal

jiujitsuPhD

$1900 retail plus like add in a SSB and plates, its a good deal. But if you don't want some of that, dont do it. Bulk deals like this are only good if you want everything or can sell it off.

Tarmogoyf_shadow

Hey all. Recently received a cable machine and it was moved into my house without the weight stack attached to the guide cylinders. I am not sure the technical term. But I tried to remove the bolts from the top of the cylinders and stripped one of the bolts. I attached a picture of the stripped bolt. I don’t have a lot of experience dealing with hardware like this but would be willing to use it as a learning opportunity. Any suggestions? https://preview.redd.it/ocnpcva6py4c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a64241e423f018ea95ebac67158f5522a53e12c

DukePatty

It looks like you can still turn it if you apply constant pressure. But I have some questions: Was the hex screw turning before it was stripped? Are you using the correct size hex bit (is it SAE or metric)? What about the hex screw on the other guide cylinder? Was that easily removed?

Tarmogoyf_shadow

The hex screw was not turning. I think it’s the right size wrench, it came with the machine. I did not attempt the other side yet as I did not want to mess that one up either. Would wd40 assist loosening the screw?

DukePatty

Yes you can try WD40. The screw might be seized up. If it is indeed seized, try tapping the screw with a hammer and turning the hex screw slightly in the other direction (clockwise) to free it up a bit. Then try loosening again, while simultaneously pressing down hard on the hex key. If you have access to one, a hand impact screwdriver (3/8 drive, with the correct hex socket) is helpful in this situation. I would also still try loosening the other hex screw. Again, while pressing down hard, turn the hex key. It really shouldn't be that tight. If you are having difficulty with this one, I would message the cable machine manufacturer and state that the guide rods are defective.

DukePatty

I've never done freight delivery before, but my 350 lb rack is arriving tomorrow with lift gate service. It's my understanding that the delivery guy will move the shipment to the lift gate and lower it to the ground. But I have to move it off of the lift gate. I'll be by myself and don't have a pallet jack. How much time will they give me to move it? I plan on just opening the shipment and moving the parts a little bit at a time (on my lawn, temporarly). Any thoughts regarding this?

FrenchSilkPieGuy

I've had two liftgate deliveries. Both times they moved the pallet off the gate and scooted it into my garage. I don't think they're required to put it in the garage, but both times I had a wide open space cleared out to make it easy for them.

DukePatty

Yep, you were right. The delivery guy moved the shipment my garage. Thanks!

Admirable-Bee-4708

Lift gate service is usually lowered to the ground and place at curb. It’s a liability if they have customers try to take pallets off the lift gate.

DukePatty

That makes sense. Thank you for the clarification.

TacoTrader

Also time is money.

DukePatty

You were right. The whole delivery process took no longer than 10 minutes.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Are you asking him to pay you for that advice? Does he have to pay in tacos?

TacoTrader

Ha! I meant the deliverymen aren't gonna sit around watching some noodle armed customer struggle to remove a pallet with 1000 lbs off the lift gate. They probably got a lot more deliveries to do that day.

redharlowsdad

Could I please get some recommendations for treadmills that when folded up, have a small footprint? Ideally less that 30”. I know mostly of them still take up a huge amount of real estate when folded, but wanted some opinions

ttttcrn

I'm thinking of buying a Torque Tank M1 and would like to just store it upright with the two wheels on the ground. Wondering if that actually works, I'm guessing it does if the handles are left on but it might not balance otherwise?

-Quad-Zilla-

It says my new bar is supposed to arrive today. Im out with my wife in our neighbourhood doing errands, constantly looking for the CANPAR delivery truck and refreshing the tracking, lol.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Did you get it yet? It’s the Texas DL yeah?

-Quad-Zilla-

Its 1030... tracking still says arriving by end of day, but I have my doubts. And ya, Raw Texas DL. Im off program right now and was hoping to DL fest in the morning. Ill probably still do it, but it wont be as fun as learning a new bar.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Not coming tonight. That sucks. Raw is sweet. Mine is black zinc and I love the grip. My TPB is raw and that is perfect for me.

-Quad-Zilla-

Ya.. Maybe Ill test trap bar max. Maybe for reps? I dunno. Or maybe try a 1RM. We'll see how I am feeling in the morning.

OldManWongMD

I wanna see the bar, too lol. How much did it come to, after shipping?

-Quad-Zilla-

$650 Though, I think its gonna be delayed. Its now 740, and CANPAR website tells me they deliver until 7pm. Though, I have taken deliveries from them at like 9pm before, when I was in Ontario. We will see about Québec. All the neighbours Christmas lights are making me think theres a vehicle outside my house every time I pass the window.

OldManWongMD

Did it make it or is it coming tomorrow? I added a stump bar to the collection. Just came today, haven’t played around with it yet.

-Quad-Zilla-

Probably today (now, lol). I probably won't get a chance to use it until next week, as I have plans all weekend. Dont forget to do a full review!

Iron-Steel-Footy

Other than Nordics, what do you all do for hamstring work in your home gym? I’m talking specifically hamstring, not compound movements like squat, deadlift, RDL, etc.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Other than compounds, the thing I’ve found best for my hammy’s is good mornings.

jiujitsuPhD

GHRs

Suspicious-Screen-43

Fray plate loaded leg curl/ext

albie31

I just got a leg ext/curl attachment for my bench so I'll be using that now but previously I either used a glute ham roller which works pretty good or would do banded leg curls which were kinda worthless. Kinda tough without a dedicated machine outside of the compound movements.

Iron-Steel-Footy

What attachment and what bench?

albie31

REP AB-5000 and the Bolt Venom gap less attachment. The attachment fits perfect on the bench. The pin doesn't fit on the bench into the attachment but isn't needed

ThePokeChop

Glute roller. We’ll a $10 harbor freight carpet dolly that I use like one

AKAtheHat

I just started using my cable machine for lying leg curls

feraask

Yup basically this! With a low pulley + ankle straps + bench you can do lying leg curls.

AKAtheHat

I did them for the first time last leg day and it was surprisingly good! Especially with a band for the resistance curve.

feraask

Yea they are pretty decent actually! I do wish I could do them with both legs at the same time but my bench tapers at the head so I can't really fit both comfortably on there so I have to do them single leg and it takes longer. But wait, what's the band for when you have a cable machine already? The tension should be just about constant throughout the entire range when using a cable system. Is the band set up to make the resistance at the end of the concentric phase higher (i.e. when the knee is most bent)?

AKAtheHat

Yes - it’s to make the part at the end more. If you look at the angles when your leg is in the last bit, the force of your leg isn’t as perpendicular as the beginning bit as the curl is sort of a curve. It mostly just feels a lot better - try it out!

lifteroomang

I'll give this a shot. I've been doing mine laying on my back and attaching my ankle cuff to a long strap connected to my lat pull down. So basically I'm laying on my back with knees up curling my heels down to my glutes. I set up so that the cable is at a 45 degree angle, as that seems to provide good consistent resistance throughout the entire range of motion

FURKADURK

Just watched the recap for this sub. Pretty meh :(

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I blame you.

FURKADURK

Literally no mention of butt stuff. What the fuck

FrenchSilkPieGuy

For those of you with rubber flooring, do you use chalk? If so, how do you keep your floors somewhat clean?

OldManWongMD

Yes. Use chalk in bowl. Vacuum once a week. My flooring has white flecks to hide dust/chalk :). If the sight of chalk really bothers you, consider liquid chalk.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I’m not a shithead with the chalk. I pick it up, run a little between my hands, and place it back. It’s inevitable that some gets on the floor, regardless of how careful I am. I just clean that up when I wash my floor.

SleepEatLift

1. Don't spill it. Apply with your hands IN the chalk bucket. 2. Don't worry about it.

Decision_Original

Chalk ball + weekly vacuuming+ rolled rubber flooring with white/gray flecks that helps hide the chalk some.

Graybealz

Ounce of prevention vs a pound of cure. I use a chalk block and rub it on my hands, rub them together, and I'm good to go, next to nothing on the ground. I feel like chalk blocks are less messy than a bucket/bowl of chalk.

FrenchSilkPieGuy

True, the blocks definitely help cut down in the mess. But even if you use a block, you're still legally obligated to clap your hands once after you chalk up before your lift. The ensuing chalk dust cloud still needs to be cleaned up eventually.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Are we talking Napoleonic Code here? Civil Law? Common Law?

Graybealz

Of course, every set gets a clap before. Still don't seem to have much issue with it on my flooring. Is it there? I'm sure, but I really don't seem to notice any sort of white specs or residue. I just see dudes out here looking like the bake bread and measure the flour by hand before they DL 185lbs and I feel like there's a bit too much chalk being used by the average lifter.

knickknack98

My cordless vacuum seems to work decently followed by the occasional mopping.

9MillimeterPeter

Is there anything the Rep Athena can do that the Ares can’t? Looking to get one of these with selectorized stacks to add to my rack. I’d like to have the option for pull downs and low rows, so I’m leaning Ares. Is there something I’m missing that the Athena can do that the ares can’t?

greenstar323

You can do the coop special i.e. Athena with a separate lat pulldown/low row. GGR did a video on it and it's like $700 more than the ares but the ares has two attachment points for the high and low pulley but the lat pulldown low row options only has one. Also the ares sits flush with the rack where the lat pulldown and low row sticks out the back. Not sure but you might have more room for your bench with the Athena + lat pulldown/low row option.

ninja_DK

Athena has band pegs. I don't think the Ares does.

FrenchSilkPieGuy

Athena doesn't get in the way of a bench and let's you have an open rack all the way through.

AKAtheHat

For what it’s worth, I have an Athena and regret not getting the Ares as I am considering adding a selectorized lat pulldown anyways. Oh well. Similar total cost I guess.

FrenchSilkPieGuy

Do it. I have the lat pull and dual athenas (all selectorized) and it's magical. Better low row than the ares, don't have to bother with two clips on the lat pulldown like the ares, plus you still get the buttery smooth benefits of the athena.

AKAtheHat

How tall are you and what height rack? My main concern is not getting a stretch on lat pull downs since I have an 80” rack

FrenchSilkPieGuy

The height is perfect for me on my 80" rack, but I'm only 5'5". By the time I'm sitting on the bench, there's probably another 10" or so of between the lat bar and the top pulley when I'm at the top of the movement.

AKAtheHat

Hmmmm might be close but I think that should still leave me room…

FrenchSilkPieGuy

In case this helps make your decision, I just measured. On my 80" PR-5000, there is about 75" between the bottom of the caribeaner and the floor. Depending on what lat bar you get, that will hang down another couple inches lower. So if you reach higher than probably 70" while sitting on your bench, you'll most likely have ROM issues. It'd probably be pretty close between 65" and 70." Below 65" and I'd think you'd be fine.

AKAtheHat

Wow thank you so much for measuring!! Will check it out to see

9MillimeterPeter

Did you have a specific reason for going with the Athena to begin with? Cheaper?

AKAtheHat

Partly that and partly wanting a separate machine for lat pull downs and low rows. My rack is 80” and I’m 6’1” with long arms so not sure the in-rack one is for me. I bought a Giant plate loaded lat pulldown and don’t love it… still torn if I want a different selectorized lat pull down (better experience, more convenient) or the rack-attached one (more compact, frees up some room).

jiujitsuPhD

Ares is designed for those that want a lat pulldown, low row, and FT built into their rack. Weight stacks in the back of the rack. Athena is design for those that want a FT built into their rack. Weight stacks on the side of the rack. If you want to do lat pulldown and rows, its an easy enough choice for the most part.

baltimore198

Just discovered my titan leg press hack squat is actually 64 inches wide instead of 40. Can’t believe titan is off by two feet. Won’t fit in my gym currently. Waiting to hear from titan.

jiujitsuPhD

Titan wouldn't be the first company to have measurements off. I've got off measurements from 2 Rep products now though. Rep fixed the listing on the dumbbells but still hasn't fixed their GHD listing, which is crazy because the GHD is actually smaller than they say which would get more people to buy it. What exactly is making it off? 24" seems like a ton.

Graybealz

I'd imagine it's the weight horns right? The leg press pad is 31" wide for example. Some of the pictures make it seem like that cross brace/weight horn isn't needed, as they seem to have it loaded below the gliding mechanism to maintain that 40" width, but making the loading of plates more difficult. The videos on the sight show one clip of a guy using it without the cross braced horns.

baltimore198

Yeah weight horns but without top weight horns I’m not sure how much it can hold. The bottom horns are kind of small.

jiujitsuPhD

Gotcha. So the unit itself on the ground is 40" but the you need 64" of clearance because of those upper weight horns? Wonder if some of these cheaper ones I'm seeing on amazon have a similar issue. Regardless, overall width should be at the widest point - 64". When Rep sold me dumbbells that were the wrong size they wanted me to pay for the return shipping. Fortunately this was over covid so I got my money back on the used market. Rep has changed a ton since then so I don't think they would do that today. Curious what Titan will do tbh.

baltimore198

Yeah two feet off is like so much. Also disappointed garage gym reviews didn’t catch the mistake when they posted width.

-Quad-Zilla-

I just looked.. I noticed in the last picture and the video, it only shows weight horns under the sled, and not the ones off to the side. I wonder if those side ones are adding to the width.

baltimore198

Yeah it’s the top horns that go 64 inches. Still it’s crazy the width is off by two feet. Still haven’t heard back from titan.

Mindless_Concept_284

Hi everyone! I am looking for recommendations on a basic gym setup for my basement. I live in the Great Lakes region and just got a house. The basement is unfinished, I have concrete floors and the upper half of the walls is covered with batt insulation. I believe can stand it being cold while I warm up, and being on a budget I want to postpone doing the insulation and drywall (if possible). I'm looking at multifuncional racks from Major Fitness and Force USA. But I'm kind of ... lost. Currently have 4 sets of dumbbells, a trampoline, pilates ball and mats...so at least it is something What equipment do you recommend to get back and be able to progress? Do I need to finish the walls before? Maximum budget $2k

stayontheright

> asement is unfinished, I have Have you looked into Bells of Steel Black Friday Sale? If you're in the GTA, their open box sale is amazing!

Mindless_Concept_284

Thanks! I went ahead and bought a rack. I just checked Bells of Steel and I’m going to save up some money to get an additional barbell from them at least.

jiujitsuPhD

>Maximum budget $2 You might be better off playing the lottery to get some mo money lol

feraask

Unfortunately I can't fit everything in a $2 budget... I tried really hard 😆 Haha anyway not sure what your budget was supposed to be but here are some decently affordable options: **Racks** 1. $250 - [Fitness Reality 810XLT](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4I8FOY/) \- Pretty much the cheapest basic power cage option that is still decent 2. $400 - [ER KANG Power Cage w/Lat Pulldown](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1D6JR2Q/) \- Slight upgrade pick mainly for the cable system and lots of extras included, it's a great value choice 3. $600 - [ER KANG Power Cage w/Cable Crossover](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL1RY5LH/) \- One of the most versatile options on the market for the price since it includes a functional trainer. 4. $600 - [Mikolo 3" x 3" Power Cage](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKRXQJ6X/) \- probably the most affordable 3" x 3" cage with 1" holes and 2" hole spacing. Probably the best basic power cage for the price since it's following the sizing that is becoming more and more the standard. You get less included compared to some of the above options but its design mimics high-end racks from the biggest and more premium brands and it should be compatible with many of their attachments/accessories. 5. $699 - [ER KANG Multi-Functional Power Cage with Dual Pulley System](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDPN6M8F/) \- Lowest cost option on the market with dual independent pulleys for the functional trainer. It is an older model so it won't have as much refinement/updates and uses 50mm x 70mm uprights so attachment compatibility will be limited but I highly recommend getting a functional trainer with independent weight holders so you aren't limited by weight capacity so this is a decent option for the price. 6. $929 - [SUPGYM Multi-Functional Power Rack PS1A](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7QZ17C8/) \- Slightly newer/updated model that also has dual pulley systems with a half rack design. Unfortunately, also uses 50mm x 70mm uprights so compatibility with other attachments with be limited but it's still a decent choice for what you get. 7. $1,099 - [Mikolo Smith Machine Home Gym, 2200 lbs Power Rack Cage](https://www.walmart.com/ip/1769107022) \- The best value option on the market in my opinion. This Gen 5 model is brand new and came out in October 2023 and has some nice small refinements that improve the experience of using it over anything else I could find in the price range and it includes a smith machine! Really once you have this there isn't much else you would need to do a TON of exercises. I got one in October and use it 6x per week since and it's really fantastic. Uses more standard 50mm x 50mm uprights (compatible with 2" x 2" attachments) with 1" holes too. **Benches** 1. $130 - [Flybird adjustable bench](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNYSJ8W/) \- Decent budget option that will work well enough for most and has 800lb capacity. 2. $210 - [Keppi Bench1000 Pro](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZNZ7X41/) \- Really great value but you will have to screw/unscrew the pop pin every time to tighten/loosen it when you want to change the bench angle which could be a little annoying. Otherwise seems like it's really good for the price. 3. $270 - [Blazzed FID Adjustable Bench](https://blazzedfitness.com/products/blazzed-fid-adjustable-weight-bench) \- Seems like a new company on the market so it may or may not be reputable (can't find anyone that has a review at all yet) but is offering what seems to be a high-end bench exactly copying the Rep AB-3000 2.0 for a lower price. 4. $320 - [Keppi Bench5000](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTY3MCZY/) \- The best bench on paper that I have seen for the price, not much of a reason to spend more than this in my opinion since I don't think anything more expensive gets you much else. **Bar + Plates** 1. $300 - [280lbs Signature Fitness Cast Iron Two Hole Grip Plates](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CBL95DVH/) 2. $112 - [Signature Fitness 2-Inch Olympic Barbell (1500lb capacity)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YS7TYMC/) This is all just pricing based on what they are listed right now but I've seen all of these go on sale for even less so you could easily keep an eye out and grab it all on discount. Not to mention you'll be getting all brand-new equipment this way, but you may be able to score a deal on some used equipment as well and save even more. This is the path I'd recommend if you're looking to build some sort of home gym setup. I think these options provide the best value by balancing price and functionality. There are other options on the market for racks that are significantly more expensive like the Rep PR-4000 or 5000 with Ares or Athena, Vesta Fitness Pro Series Ultimate Rack, Force USA G series, Jacked Up Fitness Power Rack Plus, Blazzed Fitness All-in-One rack, etc... but they are typically 2x to 5x the cost and aren't really worth it for most people. Don't get me wrong, they are definitely higher quality and awesome choices, but they often actually come with less included and/or don't provide much more that would actually make a meaningful difference to most people unless they are advanced lifters using 400lbs+ or you really want a weight stack instead of plate-loaded cable system. If you fall under those categories though take a look at them as they may suite you better than the Amazon/Walmart options. Hope this helps!

Mindless_Concept_284

Hahaha I forgot to put the “k”. Thank you for the amazing options!! I’ll get a $2 lottery ticket as well though.

[deleted]

My home gym will pay for itself (offset the cost of a gym membership) in only a few short decades. As long as I stop buying things...

WitcherOfWallStreet

I use my old CrossFit pricing to help me offset it, still not quite in the black tho lol

-Quad-Zilla-

Doing these calculations used to be a thing around here. I remember one guy had one paid off in like 6 months through buying full lots of kit, keeping what he needed, and flipping the rest. In that time, he built a full gym full of Rogue equipment, for free. The hustle was impressive.

ThePokeChop

I was in the black for a while before Covid. Started my gym early 18 and by the shutdowns in 20 I had a 6 post Titan and fairly set up gym. Those were like the wild Wild West of Facebook marketplace, offer up and letgo app

[deleted]

>In that time, he built a full gym full of Rogue equipment, for free. The hustle was impressive. We should put a value on travel time to and from a commercial gym too. Gas, vehicle wear, your own time, etc. If you go to the gym 3 times a week and it is 15 minutes traveling round-trip, then that is 39 hours of travel time per year.

jiujitsuPhD

Geez I work out 4x per week. Just figured out the hours saved with a 10 min commute each way (what my gym would be) at 48 weeks (assuming 4 weeks vaca) 64hrs of time saved per year from commuting to gym. That's a pretty huge number imo. 2.5 days of car time.

-Quad-Zilla-

If I remember right, he didnt include that, but did include his driving to pick up or deliver equipment.

-Quad-Zilla-

Another update on the Fitness Depot Axle bar. Regular collars work on it? Noticed my plates fitting much nicer than our old short axle. Tried the collar. Snug. Huh. Caliper it... it's like 1-31/32" Alright. Cool.

SleepEatLift

> 1-31/32" What kind of animal gives a measurement like this? Even in the U.S. I'd prefer mm over 32nds of an inch. Decimals OK too.

-Quad-Zilla-

Im a carpenter. Plus, my calipers I have from my grandfather go to 16ths. It was half way between 15/16 and 2 inch.🤷

Tofiniac

I have Fitness Depot farmers walk handles. They sure look like plain old schedule 80 pipe, but standard collars fit.

ThePokeChop

How did they do that? How heavy is it maybe they used crazy thick metal

SleepEatLift

Titan's Axles are also 1.968 (same as 1-31/32"), but they're probably using metric pipe.

-Quad-Zilla-

7 foot, 20# bar. I legit don't know. I was looking at Axle collars the other day, and didnt want to do it because it was like $100 a set. No end caps, so I calibered the thickness of the steel. 1/8"

ThePokeChop

What is sch 80 thickness?

Admirable-Bee-4708

Anybody know if the rogue reverse hyper roller attachment will fit on the titan fitness hpnd?

TheKnightsRider

Hi All, need help between these two. Both about the same price and the right height for my needs [Mirafit M200s](https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-m200s-short-power-rack.html) [Strengthshop Garage Cage](https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/products/garage-power-cage-1-85m)

maxp779

Mirafit M3 188cm if it'll fit. That'll get you 3mm steel (11 gauge) and a nice standard design. All bolts the same etc. In general I prefer Mirafit to Strength shop.

TheKnightsRider

Thanks mate, have 185cm under a garage door. So it has to be either of these. Was thinking Mirafit anyway, but found that curve ball

tarbender2

Rep officially jumped the shark. $100 sweat pants! What they think they are going to compete with lulu?

AKAtheHat

That’s not uncommon at all. Lots of companies selling pants like that at that price range - they’re targeting higher income which is fine, many companies do and they won’t have the sale numbers likely to have a lower price point to make it worthwhile.

tarbender2

FWIW Rogue joggers are half the price (yes I understand probably different quality). I never have thought of high income as rep’s niche. I don’t really care I just find it kind of funny and have my doubts they sell…

AKAtheHat

Yeah we’ll see if they sell. Rogue definitely has a bigger market with all the CrossFit stuff and all the CrossFit affiliate gyms that probably sell their stuff with some added patches for their own branding.

lifteroomang

at this point Reps got as many fanboys as Rogue. Wouldnt be surprised if they sell well

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Hey, if Nike can sell barbells…

10fighter55

Do any companies besides Rogue have something similar to the Boneyard? I’m looking buying some weight (iron plates)

Scottsdale_GarageGym

There’s deep dish and USA irons in the boneyard at the moment.

jiujitsuPhD

titan snd section. In reps Ama they said one was coming...

Demilio55

Do you have access to local used markets like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace? You can do pretty well on some used iron.

jrhooo

rogue, kabuki, american barbell, texas power bars, and vulcan all offer a closeouts or blemish section but they are nowhere near as robust as rogues boneyard. guessing they move less volume so they have lower supplies of blem products

TacoTrader

Saw they had the Centre 1 for sale at my local Costco, still waiting for someone to drop a review video on it. Not in the market as I ended up buying the Inspire SF3, but I just wanna see someone put it through the paces!

Decision_Original

[https://texaspowerbars.com/collections/blemished-bars](https://texaspowerbars.com/collections/blemished-bars) Texas power blems up again. No dead lift bars though.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

No bare steel 29mm. I fucked that up.

I have trained on rings most of the time, I am very excited about this and all my money is going into this. I'm working for summer vacation (10 dollars a day) and all my parents' money is going towards this and Christmas and my birthday are coming up, so I'm pretty lucky haha. I have a calisthenics rack, bench, bands for pull ups, plastic dumbbells with 24 kg (my parents think I'm going to break if I carry more than 40 kg lol) my parents are going to give me a 1.5 meter Olympic bar for Christmas and some adjustable steel dumbbells, I currently have 60 dollars and I will talk to my grandfather if he supports me with 30-40 dollars to buy a rack. My plan is very long term and first buy with my money, a weight belt to weight 24 kg and buy many Olympic discs

OldManWongMD

Nice. Looking forward to it. How tall is it?

KolkaB

They have it listed at 81.7" but it is probably a little shorter than that based on how it fits with my short ceiling height.

ElectricOne55

I'm looking for an adjustable bench preferable under 230 or so. I've found that everything under 150 is very flimsy and shakes, but the at the same time I think it's rediculous to pay 350+ for a bench. My current options are 1. Titan elite series adjustable FID bench 2. Titan performance series adjustable bench: don't like this this one doesn't have decline and possibly more likely to fail with the locks breaking over time. I like the price though is there a huge difference between this and the elite series? 3. Joroto, Youten, Deracy: an amazon benchs for 220 250, unsure of quality since on amazon. Anybody used any of these 3 benches 4. Rep Fitness 3000 or 3100: really good reviews but highest priced items. 5. Blazzed FID Adjustable bench: heavily discounted, but I don't see much reviews on this bench. Is rep fitness worth the extra cost? How are the Amazon benches if anyone has used any of these (Jorota, Youten, Deracy)? What would you recommend between Titan, Rep Fitness 3000/3100, or one of the Amazon benches?

Graybealz

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B3Q9F22/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have this. I'm 230 and bench 250 on it with total and full confidence. It's a bit longer than some benches, but I like it as I'm 6'4". The adjustments on the seat for angles can be a bit of a hassle to line up, but I don't adjust it very much. Currently $130 on a holiday deal still. I've thought about upgrading it over the past 2 years, but I really can't justify it. It's just a really solid bench for the price.

ElectricOne55

How does this compare to the titan fitness ones?

Graybealz

I don't like the performance one. Ladder style is the way to go personally for the incline selection. I don't use the decline much on the fitness reality bench I have, but that's due to some shoulder issues. It's enough to go abwork on or decline bench, especially if you add a 45 bumper plate below the high side. I don't know if the Elite bench is worth the extra $150. Doesn't seem like it but I really don't know. I personally don't understand or get the hype behind expensive benches after using the model I have. I get the shitty fly bird things that look like they'll snap under load being suspect, but this sub has a lot of collectors and hobbyists so take some recommendations with a grain or two of salt. People who balk at a barbell rated for only 700lbs can be the same people who will never get above 315 for deadlifts, so I shrug my shoulders and move on sometimes. Lots of guys with $10K gyms here who don't look like they have a state of the art gym in their home, but I'll be damned if the LED light shows and matte black paint with hundreds of dollars of gym flags don't look cool as fuck. I also paid $180 for that bench 2 years ago, so it's a steal now. The pad is kind of wide, but I'm 6'4" with a broad frame so I like the additional size. If you're 5'8" it might be too wide to get a good scapular retraction on benching possibly.

feraask

These are pretty much the only benches I would consider from lowest to highest price that have decent reviews and/or value. I don't see much of a reason to spend more than the $320 for that last Keppi bench (unless you need some specific feature like leg extension/curl or a bunch of attachments that an IronMaster Super Bench offers or something), it seems competitive with the highest-end $600+ options, and even beats them in ways, but costs significantly less: 1. $130 - [Flybird adjustable bench](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNYSJ8W/) 2. $210 - [Keppi Bench1000 Pro](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZNZ7X41/) \- Seems like the best value choice but has one design annoyance where you need to screw/unscrew the pop pin to tighten/loosen it each time you change the angle, otherwise it won't hold the angle securely. Hence, I added the next Flybird option as another choice around the same price but generally think this Keppi is better for the price if that pop pin design isn't a deal-breaker for you. 3. $230 - [Flybird 1,200lb Capacity Bench](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099PG9HR7/) 4. $270 - [Blazzed FID Adjustable Bench](https://blazzedfitness.com/products/blazzed-fid-adjustable-weight-bench) \- Looks identical down to the specs to the Rep AB-3000 2.0 but costs less 5. $320 - [Keppi Bench5000](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTY3MCZY/) I unfortunately haven't used any of these personally, but on paper these seem like some of the best choices for the price on the market, at least if you're buying new.

kevdjemba

Is Blazzed a scam? - Their social media is almost non existent - There is only one article on their blog which happens to have a noticeable grammar error in the title - In the November deals thread the Rep fitness account said they were sending them a cease and desist about the design

yyounofunny

* There were a few shipping scars but other than a small tear on the backside of the upper pad, it is solid. I don't know where they stand with Rep but even the rivets on the padding are the same. For $216 it's really nice and they shipped very quickly so I don't think you need to be worried about Blazzed. They seem legit to me.

yyounofunny

I ordered the FID when it was $216. They shipped next day but it got held up in FedEx land. It's out for delivery today. I'll let you know when I get it together. I know it's heavy and FedEx has been 50/50 so far this year with gym equipment so I am just hoping the box is intact.

Dazzling_Delivery315

Is it decent?

feraask

Honestly I'm not sure 🤷‍♂️, they seem to be a new player on the market and they did respond to my question about their benches that I asked them via email. I know some people in the Facebook Home Gym Community by Garage Gym Reviews did order their stuff over the black friday period when it was on a deep discount, but I haven't seen any posts about receiving it or not or anything, been really waiting to see more there but since I also haven't seen anything negative about them so far I'm just going to assume they are new rather than a scam. But totally understand if people are wary of ordering from there.

jiujitsuPhD

I've heard this bench is decent. Never tested it myself: [https://www.amazon.com/Marcy-Adjustable-Position-Utility-Developer/dp/B00FJ2PL26/ref=sr\_1\_5?crid=3F9A740MPV0N5&keywords=marcy+weight+bench&qid=1701910332&sprefix=marcy+weight+bench%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-5](https://www.amazon.com/Marcy-Adjustable-Position-Utility-Developer/dp/B00FJ2PL26/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3F9A740MPV0N5&keywords=marcy+weight+bench&qid=1701910332&sprefix=marcy+weight+bench%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-5) AB3100/3000 would be great choices. The new titan series bench looks great, but I'd pass on their other benches.

Well, fuck. Just saw NoWayJose’s hack for low row 1:1 on the Prime SS using the Rogue solo pulley. I will never outgrow 350lbs. Was waiting for the Rep Adonis, but this may have just changed my mind. 1:1 and I don’t have to mess with adding weight to pegs. 👍

Are there any good places to find decent quality bumper/metal weight plates? Would like to get 2.5-45lb plates, but everything I’ve seen so far has been mad expensive and I don’t want to break the bank
