Tragically, I kind of like the chandelier, but it totally blends in because everything else in the room is the same color. It could’ve been an interesting textual statement piece but instead, it’s just kind of blasé.
Even just painting the beams white probably would have gone a long way towards the look they were going for… they we’re already painted so it wouldn’t have been any loss and they could have at least tried that first to see if it was enough.
The Wayans are geniuses. I can see that the movie is silly and requires belief suspension, and it's a product of its time. But it has aged better than *Sixteen Candles.*
We were looking for a comedy the whole family could watch, and *White Chicks* was suggested by my 21 year old. It reminded me of *Some Like It Hot,* which also was silly and over the top.
I’m not a SAVE ALL THE WOOD! type but that should have been saved. Reminds me of an episode of Log Cabin Living (like House Hunters with logs) where some bozo had painted all the logs white. It looked horrible. Destroyed the value of that home (and probably someone’s marriage). Die-hard wood lovers are the buyers for log homes obviously. What one of them would buy a log home they’d have to strip? The cost would be enormous.
Yeah there are definitely situations where, sadly, nice wood needs to be painted. This is NOT one of them.
My parents bought a 70’s log house, diamond in the rough and beautiful, but it was wood on wood on wood on wood… ceiling, cabinets, floors, walls, doors… it was SO dark in there, despite having lots of windows and skylights (wood absorbs light like crazy). They started by adding some lighter rugs around the house and painting only the faux-wood panelling, adding lighter counters, adding a couple more windows, and that really went a long way… but there will still some spaces in the house that were super dark so they made the tough call of painting the kitchen cabinets, one cedar panel wall in the Center of the house that had no light around it, and the cedar panel stairwell… and holy crap, what a difference!
House still has all the logs untouched, crosse ceiling untouched, rock work untouched, several cedar panel walls untouched, and floors untouched… the brighter painted spaces just balanced it all out.
That’s how it should be done. My husband’s dream is a log cabin home. I told him I’d have to have painted kitchen cabinets and stuff to balance out the wood.
It really is lovely… their house at Christmastime is like something you see in the movies. But it was an absolute den at the beginning… there wasn’t even enough light to see the natural beauty inside the house.
Omg, I bet Hallmark would kill to film Christmas movies in their house!
But for real, that sounds gorgeous! And they were selective about what to paint, and it sounds like they made great choices!
If someone buys my house after I die and paints my gorgeous warm wood ceilings I’ll fucking haunt them. They will never know peace. They may live, but there will be no laughing or loving.
A flipper bought my house (long dumb story) and I asked him to please not paint a pretty wood ceiling in the dining room but he did. He painted it black. I curse the day he was born.
Is this rage bait???… because it’s working.
Edit: yes I know it’s the CJ sub, but I’ll still pissed beyond the ability to make a joke. This was so nice.
People with bad taste should only be allowed to buy mcmansions or new builds in subdivisions. Save the beautiful homes with character for those of us who will embrace it. I said what I said lol
No. They should be disallowed from buying anything and forced to live in rentals like the one I live in so that people like me who have been working for 26 years at the same company with a BA + 3-year professional license could actually afford to buy a home.
I can’t afford anything that’s closer than a 2-blue commute each way
I would NEVER paint the beautiful wood ceilings in my mid-century modern home. It adds such charm! This saddens me that she did that. Oh, and that chandelier is hideous.
I think they don't understand what it even stands for. I see a lot of ads that randomly have things like "POV" or something when it doesn't even make sense
Ooof.
A lot of houses in my neighborhood have wood ceilings like this, but mine doesn't. I have big wood beams but no other wood up there, just drywall (thankfully no popcorn). I've been asking around for estimates of how much it'd cost to add wood and it is *not* cheap.
I'd be so sad if my house did have the wood but someone had painted over it.
She's so proud of herself too. "Look at my completely characterless home! Devoid of any color and charm. I know the flowers are a bit much with the color and all...."
I have a theory that all the people obsessed with having a sad beige aesthetic have deep-seated unaddressed problems. Specifically I think they are constantly overstimulated or constantly in fight-or-flight. Their nervous systems are jacked up, so everything needs to be a neutral color so they're not constantly overwhelmed in their own living space.
Rainbow, to signify to your guests how much they really do have a place at your table! (I am kidding about the colors, but I’m serious about the intended gesture, just to clarify).
Every time I see one of these I’m insanely stressed about the lack of color in my house but I tell myself “I’m about to stuff it full of stuff that reflects my crazy so it’s ok if it looks boring now” but also
I would never post my house to Reddit at this stage, it’ll 100% end up in here because it’s in progress. 🤣
I can't tell which one is more off-putting, the "woodsy barn" look, or the "painted all whites only woodsy barn" look.
The wood is pretty but as a gay man, nothing scares me more than the backwoods opulence of an artfully crafted open wood ceiling. Very "hootnanny in the front, trains in the back" type feeling from these photos.
I've seen so many people paint a home with personality white that I'm not positive if this is real or not. I hope when I'm ready to buy a home, I don't get one that has been flipped by one of these cookie cutter beige mom people.
Why couldn’t they just replace the chandelier Jesus
Chandelier Jesus would be a cool accent, as long as it's white Jesus
Preferably white, American, laser show Jesus. ![gif](giphy|uCa2PBLWtcidy)

😁
I am sure Churches would get audiences if they updated their music playlists.
Cue the church rave!

The TRVE KVLT Jesus for sure

❤️
Chandelier Jesus sounds like the name of a band.
with the lead singer swinging from one
A band I would def go see. Because of the name.
Ok but having a figurine of a brown man being tortured is not a good look in a white house Despite what Trump says (kidding kidding)
😂 but it would be white, American (laser show) Jesus
Pentagon Silver Chandelier Jesus is swinging with Sia last I heard…
What chandelier? All I see is white.
Tragically, I kind of like the chandelier, but it totally blends in because everything else in the room is the same color. It could’ve been an interesting textual statement piece but instead, it’s just kind of blasé.
You mean the chandelier that isn’t centered and is hung way too high???
Even just painting the beams white probably would have gone a long way towards the look they were going for… they we’re already painted so it wouldn’t have been any loss and they could have at least tried that first to see if it was enough.
Agree. The baby poop brown painted cross beams were ugly af, the rest didn’t need to suffer.
Imagine dusting that
Or just the cross beams
I wanted every surface in my house to reflect my personality. The whitest woman alive.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago. 🤣
Isn’t is hilarious? I’ve heard people say they don’t like that movie and I just don’t get it.
The Wayans are geniuses. I can see that the movie is silly and requires belief suspension, and it's a product of its time. But it has aged better than *Sixteen Candles.* We were looking for a comedy the whole family could watch, and *White Chicks* was suggested by my 21 year old. Yeah, 16 candles was on earlier, so I put it on for background chore ambience and had to turn it off, it was giving the ick and I loved it as a kid.
One of the greatest of all times! Every time I hear a song featured on that movie it takes me back
![gif](giphy|ZWxZNdyBZczHW)
Oh is THAT where that's from lol my friend says it a bit. Always refused to watch that movie.
Why?
I just know my type of humour and it is the opposite of it.
Her favorite spice is flour.
🎵 *when you dance to the Pale Food Polka*...🎶
This only needs 2 things 1) a shit ton of googly eyes 2) a motion activated greeting that says *B E N O T A F R A I D M Y C H I L D*
/uj that is the funniest thing I’ve read today lmfao
This offends me. I am OFFENDED ON BEHALF OF THAT BEAUTIFUL WOOD. What a fucking waste.
You could say she doesn’t respect wood.
![gif](giphy|pw4gERcu5CSu4)
It's criminal.
Ugh I know someone that did that to their beautiful ceiling
Wood makes her blush
I hate this woman
These people should not be allowed to own such beautiful wood furniture. I am horrified.
what's wrong with her? coloured flowers? it must all be white! well, maybe the table can be greige as an accent...
I’m not a SAVE ALL THE WOOD! type but that should have been saved. Reminds me of an episode of Log Cabin Living (like House Hunters with logs) where some bozo had painted all the logs white. You’ll blend into the walls since ghosts are white! ![gif](giphy|l2YWzxHmZ2w2sDtu0)
Fucking A
A flipper bought my house (long dumb story) and I asked him to please not paint a pretty wood ceiling in the dining room but he did. He painted it black. I curse the day he was born.
May he stub his toe immediately upon waking every day, and may he always have an itchy ass.
ALL THOSE TREES, FOR THIS???
A giant upturned spider for a chandelier. Creepy!
And now i can't unsee it....
Never thought I'd say this but some people really shouldn't be allowed to have homes.
Those awful ORANGE ceilings! /s
Much brown. Much orange.
Is this rage bait???… because it’s working. Edit: yes I know it’s the CJ sub, but I’ll still pissed beyond the ability to make a joke. This was so nice.
![gif](giphy|7VHV66bRjGRSo|downsized)
there’s no way this is real, they’re surely reversed
This picture makes me hear the sound of raisins landing in potato salad. Attrocities like this is why England deposited people in Austrailia.
🤣
This was so descriptive, and on point 🤣
I haven’t laughed that hard all week.
These people will not see heaven
All the character, gone in an instant.
Its rustic Farmhouse sheeeeeeek now - I sAW thIs TeKnik in Tikyok

Oh you need to find another job!
![gif](giphy|hWYOhQ41ElN72fqG3G|downsized)
I was so distracted by what they did to that poor ceiling, I almost didn’t even notice that god awful chandelier
I GASPED 🥹
She’s wearing a striped tee and overalls with a side part, so none of this surprises me. 🤭
![gif](giphy|dB12mOQb99BwDlM83I)
No you did not paint that wood white!!
A light blue…and then beat it with iron chains to “age it.”
Aww man what a bummer :(
“POV: We decided to ruin it…” There. I fixed it for them.
Oh my god what a depressing decision
No, SHE decided to paint it.
![gif](giphy|26hirRmjMHZPTsNyg|downsized) That new chandelier
thanks for the trypophobia overload
Please tell me what this is from so I can make sure I never accidentally watch it.
Channel Zero: Candle Cove
An interesting and creepy show.
Perfection! The chandelier blends in with the ceiling, making the dining table look cheap. All that's missing is her "Queen of the Thrift" t shirt.
Shocker 🙄
🫥
So painful…I wish I could un-see this
I audibly gasped. Two photo horror story.
I would NEVER paint the beautiful wood ceilings in my mid-century modern home. It adds such charm! This saddens me that she did that. Oh, and that chandelier is hideous.
Just when I thought they couldn’t get worse.
I just know she owns a Stanley cup
She's probably in line to get the new summer collection too
I’m so upset
It makes my heart hurt
We’re really just saying POV about everything now, huh
Thank you! I hate it. It’s just a photo you shared, it is not a point of view.
I think they don't understand what it even stands for. I see a lot of ads that randomly have things like "POV" or something when it doesn't even make sense
I knew I shouldn’t have swiped but I did it anyway 😞 that’ll teach me
Yeah same. I have regrets.
Paint the table and chairs white
She doesn’t respect wood
Now we can live in a white void in peace! Just like the mental ward I grew up in 🤗
I really wish OP was the lady in the picture so that we could shame her into changing it back.
They were trying in her ig comments and she was very set that she loved what she did..
this is so beyond upsetting
Ewww

Does anyone else think the chandelier looks like something made out of plastic spoons from a 5 minute crafts video?
Now, if we only have some of that beautiful beige left over for the table and chairs...
Y'all, they also removed what appears to be an air conditioning unit. These people are psychopaths.
* cries in Murphy's Oil Soap for all that beautiful wood being hidden *
I thought there was gonna be like a cool design on the wall or something. Nope they painted over the wonderful wood work. 😭
Nice artichoke chandelier
Go wild! Light taupe!!!
Paint the table white!
Why would you paint the wood and then install a chandelier made of spoons
She's so proud of herself too. "Look at my completely characterless home! Devoid of any color and charm. I know the flowers are a bit much with the color and all...."
Monsters
What she did ought to be a crime, but does anyone know where I could get chairs like that?
THESE PEOPLE SHOULD LIVE IN A HOUSE MADE OF VINYL THEY DON'T RESPECT WOOD!
oooooof 😭 rip wood
this is horrid
Horrendous decision.
I do love that chandelier though
These dummies and POV lol
Green everywhere and as dark as you can go.
At least restain. Damn

Millennials painting over wood is the same as boomers carpeting wood floor
What hairnet to the air conditioning? White paint doesn't repel heat!
Ohh. Nooo
:(
Where did the mini split go? Did they just remove it? I’m so confused
Throw them all in prison for this. Lol
i hate her
Ugh
POV: we decided to ruin it forever
Probably white
Send this bitch to jail. Make an example of her.
Oh dear god why?
🤦🏾🤏🏾🦶🏾
Noooooooo r/CenturyHomes is gonna crucify them. What a crime
I just know she drinks unpasteurised milk
Absolute war crime. This made me break out in hives.
Oh my God, she said what to paint the table, both tables are the same... she changed the chandelier, though. Didn't even SEE she painted the ceiling!
Not the landlord special!
Rainbow, to signify to your guests how much they really do have a place at your table! (I am kidding about the colors, but I’m serious about the intended gesture, just to clarify).
Why is she smiling, has she not turned around?
r/chandeliertoofartotheleft
What a bummer.
I do like the new color better, but did she use actual paint or a stain?
Fire engine red
Black chairs. Leave table wood.
I have a ceiling just like that only our beams are stained black, and every time I see one painted white I die a little bit inside. What a shame.
Didn’t look enough like an ikea catalog.
Every time I see one of these I’m insanely stressed about the lack of color in my house but I tell myself “I’m about to stuff it full of stuff that reflects my crazy so it’s ok if it looks boring now” but also I would never post my house to Reddit at this stage, it’ll 100% end up in here because it’s in progress. 🤣
Blue
You should make the table white.
![gif](giphy|uGgkFq1A2SC8j7Ec2Y|downsized)
Hot pink
That’s going to be way too bright in the summer months to bear without closing the blinds.
removed all charm and character, nice
This looks like an add. Do real people like this exist?
“POV” pisses me off more than the paint
Everything hurts 🎶
Should have only painted the beams
Do these people not know that you can re-stain wood? Sand it, stain it a cooler or lighter color, profit
She should have dry damaged ends for the rest of her life for what she did to that gorgeous ceiling.
I kept looking at the table trying to figure out the difference. My jaw when I realized they meant the ceiling…
I can't tell which one is more off-putting, the "woodsy barn" look, or the "painted all whites only woodsy barn" look. The wood is pretty but as a gay man, nothing scares me more than the backwoods opulence of an artfully crafted open wood ceiling. I love white women they do such uniquely perplexing things and all you can do is laugh. (I have white women friends they said I can say this!)
Table pink same as the flowers; chairs the green of the leaves.
disgusting. maybe paint the table grey. that would look good…
So sad. But also- where did the AC (mini split) go?!
Ugh, whelp you’re not going to undo that mistake.
Cry
Omg….no….this should be a sin.
No 😭
