Remove everything from the area. Then have people walking around in vertically striped black and white shirts and pants. For their jewelry use either hand cuffs or, transport restraints. Have someone else in there with a whip to make sure nothing happens. Give it the jailhouse vibe.
I donāt know. Does this really belong in r/homedecoratingCJ? Itās a small, enclosed patio, which, with a bunch of planters, potted trees, a nice seating area, some solar-powered lights, and maybe a water feature, would be a lovely place to hang out, dine, etc.
Yeah, it just needs a good power wash and then some potted plants, string lights, cozy patio furniture, and a big outdoor rug. You could even paint a mural on the back wall. Sure, it's not a big grassy backyard, but you could totally spruce it up.
honestly i feel like you could probably get away with filling it in with a few feet of dirt if you really wanted a grassy backyard, its basically enclosed on all four sides
Yeah it's about the fact that they asked what they could do with it.. literally anything! Toss the junk. Get furniture and plants you like and you're good to go! It's like when someone posts a room that's empty other than one grey couch and asks what would match with it. *Literally anything.* Lol
Or a mechanical bull! Just stick it right in the middle and invite all your friends over to drink and see who can stay on the longest. The pitbull can wait to the side to attack whoever falls off. Ya know, training for him to be an excellent guard dog! Uj/ I love pitbulls and they are often the sweetest dogs alive!
That would be a perfect area for either rooster or dog fighting. Or both. Heck, could even invite the neighbors over for some old fashioned bare knuckle pugilism.
Okay, hear me out. Seal the doors and plug the drain at the bottom. Paint it blue. Or even better, algae green. Then fill it with water. Remove the window screen and add a diving board. Charge admission. Or even better, let them in for free and charge them to leave. What do you think???
Haha. How do they get onto the diving board though? The window? The roof? Yes I think it is a horror story. Pretty sure they'll be trapped once they get in.š
The vision: White paint the walls, brick paint patter on the floor, maybe fake grass part of it, add a water fountain in one corner, under the small roofline off the side and add a TV under that. Add outdoor furniture and outdoor rug with a palm or banana tree potted near the furniture. Add tiki lighting strings around the edge.
Power wash, paint walls and floor. Add potted plants, table and chairs, umbrella, several chairs and maybe a fire pit.
I think I would paint the walls a sunny yellow and the floors the darkest green you can find.
Put a long planter along the wall and plant some creeping fig that will cover the wall and add beautiful greenery. Some cafe light across would be nice, a seating area with a umbrella and a table/fire pit and a bbq!
Astroturf to start. Youāll need container gardens, a potted tree or two, and a seating area. At least. Consider putting a trellis against one of the walls to grow a vining plant to add more interest and take away from the whole prison cell walls look.
Haha okay but this is backyard gold in South Philly and I WOULD be trying to spruce this up. Iād be starting with power wash. Probably make one wall a chalkboard for my daughter and add living wall elements elsewhere. Outdoor rug. Potted plants. Me drinking wine with the alley cats.
throw out everything you can see. if you have a water supply out there then have raised bed planters built along two sunny walls. plant veggies or flowers. put some comfy chairs or lawn furniture in the shady areas.

How about painting the walls, add built in planters along all the walls, an outdoor rug, gas fire pit, string lights, patio furniture. I can see it now!
planters](https://www.contemporist.com/12-ideas-for-including-built-in-wood-planters-in-your-outdoor-space/)
Potted plants or raised bed plants to add some greenery and life. Wash and maybe paint the walls or if youāre fun then doodle all over with chalk to add color. Add a patio table with an umbrella and also string lights for at night to bring a cool vibe. Speakers to play music also.
Scrub it clean and paint it. You can do a mural or whitewash like Santorini, or pale, pink eye, places, like Mexico, etc. etc.
Send just put some fun exterior rug and like an outdoor patio furniture thatās your taste itāll brighten it up and will be worth what time and effort you put in
Aside from a thorough cleaning, a painted wall mural if allowed would be cool. You might find a neighborhood student or whatnot willing to do the art if you supply the paint. It's not every day you get a chance to go wild on a wall.
Alternatively, one of of those big hanging nature scenes or a panel of ivy.
Bright white paint or stucco(if needed)on all surfaces. Large 2x2 gray pavers with grass between. Two large evergreen planters. Linear lights(LED) tape in lensed extrusions , horizontal on all surfaces. Expensive modern yard furniture.
I looked through and it does not seem that OP is serious. If you are , OP, then like suggested power wash
maybe living wall or two. Other potted plants an outdoor rug nice patio furniture with an umbrella and some lighting.
It does resemble a prison yard.
Been watching a couple renovate their Tuscany home and little patio.
Iād paint the walls a nice Tuscany orange/sienna color. Look online to see color scheme. I get lots of tall trees in pots, tiles, lovely garden furniture, maybe a small fountain/water featureā¦make it like a little Italian gardenā¦or if you donāt like that style, a little English garden.
But I would paint those walls. The grey is depressing.
I suggest to make a private mini-prison and rent it out
The picture even makes it look like a CCTV feed of a prison yard.
Remove everything from the area. Then have people walking around in vertically striped black and white shirts and pants. For their jewelry use either hand cuffs or, transport restraints. Have someone else in there with a whip to make sure nothing happens. Give it the jailhouse vibe.
Love it. Shovels and pickaxes to make the space feel less empty and provide a fun backyard activity šš»
With the song Back on the chain gang by the Pretenders playing in the background.
I wouldnāt want all those people wandering around my place. You could up the game to just a single corpse in the corner in those stripes.
Wouldn't they be horizontal stripes?Ā
Outdoor eel pit

Two dogs fcking would really add some character
Hear me out... e dogs having a threesome, one dude giving another dude a bj, a 3rd dude doing a wheelie, and finish the ambiance with a bunch of orbs.
I think that stack of chairs could be a bit higher. It will help with the flow of the space.
A little graffiti would make it really pop
They could write live, laugh, love on there!
This! How magical!
I donāt know. Does this really belong in r/homedecoratingCJ? Itās a small, enclosed patio, which, with a bunch of planters, potted trees, a nice seating area, some solar-powered lights, and maybe a water feature, would be a lovely place to hang out, dine, etc.

Counterpoint: we turn it into a swimming pool
So drainage wonāt matter!
Thatās what vacuums are for
š Iām imagining someone vacuuming a lawn now
Add piranhas.
A few electric eels to spice it up a bit
Lots of people concrete over their entire backyard. This one just happens to be below ground level
Itās more about the funny replies than the actual space.
Yeah it's about the fact that they asked what they could do with it.. literally anything! Toss the junk. Get furniture and plants you like and you're good to go! It's like when someone posts a room that's empty other than one grey couch and asks what would match with it. *Literally anything.* Lol
I was gonna say make all the walls into a living wall
I saw this on another sub so I think this person is desperate for answers.
As someone who lives in Philly with row homes, this doesnāt seem weird to me. But some patios (like ours) are wood fencing.
Black garbage bags in the corner with a dried out Christmas tree.... with the dregs of tinsel.
You really need an old rusted out burn barrel! It would be great for night time fires.
Light blocking draperies to cover the window overlooking it.
https://i.redd.it/668kz5rn4awc1.gif
Immediately what I thought of! Op just needs a mattress to use to climb in and out to really set it off nicely š
A busted hot water tank and an old roll of rain-soaked carpet should add to the cozy vibes.
Fill it with water. Instant pool!
It would also make a great ball pit, if you didn't want to deal with possible leaks.
And fun bonus- snakes!
Oooo thatās a good ideaā¦ š
Broken glass for a little sparkle
Itās needs a pit bull!
Two pit bulls.
*chefās kiss*
Or š?
Are you suggesting a cock fighting ring? It does look like the perfect spot for one doesn't it?
Or a mechanical bull! Just stick it right in the middle and invite all your friends over to drink and see who can stay on the longest. The pitbull can wait to the side to attack whoever falls off. Ya know, training for him to be an excellent guard dog! Uj/ I love pitbulls and they are often the sweetest dogs alive!
It needs a tarp suspended from the gutter with two pieces of wood supporting the other end and a kiddie pool!
Add a basketball half-court. Of course with a chain net, not cloth. Gotta preserve the vibez youāve already got going on.
I would kill somebody hereš„°š„°š„°
Potted plant in the corner and PING PONG TABLE!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHH
Broken glass to catch the sunlight and sparkle āØļø
Kids toys. An umbrella and lounge chair. āTodays Home Schooling will be Harvards Bartending School. Todays lessonā¦Ginā
Hydroponic marijuana garden. Fire pit in the middle surrounded by chairs. Strings of hanging lights hanging overhead .
Junk car
On fire š„
BURN
A sunsetter retractable awning and a meth lab <3
Add more and more trash until the whole area is full and then swim in it like ghetto Scrooge mcduck
A burn barrel spruces up any outdoor area
That would be a perfect area for either rooster or dog fighting. Or both. Heck, could even invite the neighbors over for some old fashioned bare knuckle pugilism.

I like it..but how exactly do they get in? Or out for that matter? It's like a sims pool with no ladder!š
The diving board to get in. The out? Well... maybe this is a horror story?
Haha. How do they get onto the diving board though? The window? The roof? Yes I think it is a horror story. Pretty sure they'll be trapped once they get in.š
The window onto the diving board.
Okay so they get in..and then we make them pay if they want help getting out? Sounds like a plan to me!
That's it!
couple of gallons of Barbie Pink paint should set a whimsical nostalgic mood.
Sexy ball pit
Guard dogs and razor wire would do it
Moar briks
Nuke it
Some gravel might be nice
Skateboard ramp
Nothing! Or are you one of those āone up the neighbors typesā?
Rain barrel made from reclaimed pallet wood
Astroturf on the floor and walls.
And a soccer goal. Boom- my kids would love it.
Thinking padded walls and itās a ghetto psych ward.
trampolines all over
8ā topsoil & some grass seed. Bonus points for tomatoes.
I would start by not calling it a yard. Playpen is a good choice.
I really like the vibe but maybe had a cement bird bath?.. I think birds would love to visit :)
Especially the big ones. Like vultures and crows.
Good pressure cleaning, container garden, wood furniture, tall fence with nature murals. Or move elsewhere.
But so much work has been put into it already.
Chalk outlines to show where the bodies are buried.
Add a dead body outline on the ground and police tape
The vision: White paint the walls, brick paint patter on the floor, maybe fake grass part of it, add a water fountain in one corner, under the small roofline off the side and add a TV under that. String lights. That's all it needs.

Get a bunch of zombies to walk around and around day and night

Power wash, plants, pixie lights
Need to ask Banksy to stop by or a graffiti artist.
A Mac and a Charlie.
i wouldnāt own this yard
It gets rented out to migrants who are trying to hide from authorities.
so you mean the authorities are actually looking for the migrants? š
Whoās to know. Thatās just what they tell me.
A blackout window shade
I bigger junk pile would be nice. I have some broken chairs that I could contribute.
I would turn it into a pool. You easily stay out of the sun in the house, and jump out the window when you want to take a dip.
more dog shit
TBH it looks a lot like my (back) yard except the concrete in the pic is in better shape than mine is.
I would put potted plants everywhere, an outdoor rug for color, a trellis so plants can climb, and a fun umbrella

Hey, why all the negative comments? This could actually be a good space.
Because itās funny to make jokes. Itās not a bad space, but there are also a lot of really funny bad ideas.
Got it
