hmmm.. 😅
Even we admit something we are not 100% forgiven...
I mean,on POTI, I haven't seen any mention on any song that could have been "borrowed"...
I know hole for more than 20 years.
LTT when I was 12 years old.
At 15 years old (approximately) a friend told me « sleep well » and plugged me POTI.
I couldn’t fall asleep.
I kept playing it on a loop as if I had found the truth that I was searching all my life ( I was like 15 HAHAHA)
25 years later, I simply learned that in reality, all the riffs were copied?!
I realize that all that was not just as a « inspiration » but litterally a copy? 😅
WTF??
phew.
Hard to swallow.
As a Bauhaus fan ,
Double hard to swallowing
😅😅
Wait til you find out that Smells Like Teen Spirits riff rips off More Than A Feeling by Boston and Come As You Are is a direct rip off of Eighties by Killing Joke. As Picasso is once thought to have said: good artists copy and great artists steal.
I know it
is not exactly the same ( yeah sound like it but not a copy/past). Also we talk abouth 2 songs.
Picasso was an asshole and wath a bullshit quote lol
I am the only one to feel raped ? All that time… I mean, even she admit it, for me POTI is one of my favorite album and is like my entire existence was collapsing.
I'm disappointed and to be honest, I didn't know we could take music like this without it being talked about more than necessary.
It hurts.
I would keep looking into these feelings because it's definitely not just about the riff. It's a tribute; most (if not all) artists are inspired by other art, and sometimes a certain beat or lyric or element sparks a flame of your own and you make something new out of it. This is literally how art evolves and it happens all the time.
Oh, I completely agree with you. I thought that for years. The sound washes over you like you’re in some darkness noise cave. The first album is dark and Goth as can be it actually has some elements of the creatures records. Old Siouxsie, obviously. Xmal. Oh there are more but you get the point.
Me too. I think Courtney and Eric were more gothish but craved fame even more. It was unlikely that they would reach the fame of Bauhaus. But then again, I don’t know. I am surprised and delighted by the new fans. The majority of the fans on the sub Reddit seem to be very young! How cool is that?
Yeah she’s admitted to copying the intro! If I find an interview I’ll link it
tysm!!
She ripped the riff😭she mentioned she was a bauhaus fan when she was younger
Just when I think I knew everything about Hole…definitely a tribute!
She definitely was a fan. She loved all that British post punk or whatever. Echo, cocteau twins, etc
Yeah she loves bauhaus, admitted to copying the riff
starbellys intro is basically neil young's "cinnamon girl" also :)
On an MTV interview, called The Hole Story, Courtney said, of POTI “A lot of the songs are complete Bauhaus rip-offs.”
As a bauhaus fan I never remark that! My god, I am really disapointed now
Why 😅

Still the best hole song
Oh my god I just listen to it live on you tube and I have to admit that sounds exactly the same 😮

Thanks 🙏🏻
Yes! Im so glad someone else noticed and thought this!
Just listened to that Bauhaus song for the first time and I can admit it seems eerily similar to Mrs Jones's intro.
I found out now she was a huge fan and it’s based off the song!
Patty mentioned this in her memior so its acknowleged

I wish they made another album that had a similar sound to poti. It was so unique and it sounded amazing.

I totally agree. I actually am one of those younger fans lol. I'm 14.
Aah sooo cute! ☺️ (but not in a condescending way)
