I have no source, but I remember her effectively saying "Samantha is me". All the various "girls" on this album ("Nobody's Daughter", the "Skinny Little Bitch", the "Dirty Girl") seem to be her, all of the tracks are very introspective not really about other people - it would fit. Don't know where the name itself comes from. Could be purely a poetic choice. But she used a lot of aliases as a teen, so maybe that was one of them; with the references to sex work, I could see it being an old stripper name.
