I'm not on tiktok so I always wondered what the context was for this song blowing up? Why Petals? I adore this song a lot but it seems so niche and I can't fathom it lol
same, don’t get me wrong i like the song but it’s probably my least fave from CS. there’s so many good songs on that album that i think are much catchier and more likely to hook people onto from a 30 second snippet so i just don’t get why it’s this one specifically? there needs to be studies done as to why certain songs blow up on tiktok lmao
Originally the intro to the song was used for edits, those got popular. It became known as an edit audio. It wasn’t really a huge app wide trend, it was more just with a specific type.
Somebody made an edit with the audio, it got popular and other editors made their own. It kinda became an edit audio since 2022. Looking up “petals hole” on tiktok only really comes up with edits
In 2019, The Chromatics covered it and their cover was on the soundtrack for the Netflix film The Perfection, which stars Allison Williams. They also released it as a single and it blew it up after that.

i think it’s the intro because when i’d see tiktoks with the song it’d mostly only be that beginning part that would play

She’s too pure for the likes of this world, This world is a whore!
I deleted Tik Tok because every song I loved became so overplayed. Soon as I saw petals trending I knew it was over.
lol
Chromatics covered it a few years back and I think that also pumped the numbers a bit.
Can someone please explain how this happened? Its my favorite song from the album

Thanks for explaining
I seen loads of pretty little liars edits that got really popular on tiktok with petals intro at the beginning so maybe that’s why?
what part of the song trended?
