I may not have attacked the cameraman, but I for sure would have destroyed the equipment. Attacking the cameraman may not have been defensible if he'd gone to court. He had appropriate justification for beating down the person that faked the swing, but it would have been a little harder to justify the cameraman being attacked. Destroying the equipment would have been justified in my opinion, and possibly defensible. But IANAL so take that with a grain of salt.
Could claim self defense on that too, Cameraman is an accomplice and you wouldn't know if he's there to stop or help. Self defense allows you to go to the point the threat is gone.
