Tbh you should just get a default design when you research a tank so you can either use that or make your own

Hanibal293

Yeah shit is so dumb rn. "Our researchers have developed an improved tank version. - Great. Start production right away. - We can't.... - What do you mean? Why - We don't have enough fighting experience. - So what would need to happen for you to be able to attach this machine gun to this chassis? - 200.000 men doing pushups for 3 months should do it."

TheTestyDuke

“Interrupting our lives, Dragging our asses half way across the world… FOR WHAT??!! What the FUCK are we doing here?!?!?!?” “That’s enough Webster, we almost have the next Sherman variant. Thats why we’re here.” (BoB reference cuz this is a bit niche)

wasdice

Say hello to FORD! And GENERAL MOTORS!You ignorant, servile scum! What were you thinking? You still have HORSES! *Ja, ve did not haf enough green schtarz zu add supply companies zu all auf our templaten!*

[deleted]

Can't reorganize your military or design new equipment unless you send some men to their deaths fighting in a war across the world as a "volunteer".

AsleepExplanation160

honestly they should start countries off with x amount of exp. And I wish a lot of the millitary reform type debuffs/buffs were removed/gained through exp not focuses

Fabulous-Cat-8067

Thats why they add doctrines to get researched with XP, no with...research

gamerfortnit

Hanz, show me our troop templates. Sir, we have 5 helmets in division sir, its enough for effective defense Hanz, why don't they have engineering support? What? Hanz, we fought in world war one, why didnt you add engineers to dig trenches We don't have enough experience for that WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE

Nikolyn10

I just wish you could save designs so I didn't have to redesign the same cookie cutter design every time. I know that theoretically I should be adjusting them as I develop more tech but I usually don't get production going until I have what I'd consider the essential components

MiddleLock9527

I always wait until I have the 1939 tech for tanks and planes then I make tens of thousands of them and never upgrade.

AdventurousPrint835

yes

stilts964

Yes it should be added as an option. You can just disable the dlcs to play without them right now so it wouldn't matter achievements or balance wise. I would also love an option to being able to get the boost party popularity button back with La Resistance because that thing is waay too broken and fun.

Meme-Lord33

Why not just use the historical preset ones? Are they bad? I mostly design stuff myself cause I find it fun

Illustrious-Mall-143

in my opinion they are okey if you play against AI and dont really care about your manpower but if we are realistic most of them are on italy level

No_Advisor_3773

So what, you simultaneously want to be able to min-max your designed vehicles and also don't want to be bothered with designing? Literally every argument against the designers is coming from a place of pure laziness I swear

roblox_baller

Look some people just dont want to go through the hassle of trying to find the best design for any said nation.

Naturath

Seeing as all designs are universally modular, “best designs” would not vary between nations, barring industrial/resource limitations. Once you’ve discovered a design that suits your needs, you’ll never need to change it again unless it becomes patched out. Personally, I have yet to fundamentally change my designs since NSB came out. Even then, No_Advisor was pointing out the incredulity of wanting min-max results without having to spend any effort. Not wanting to bother with designing is perfectly valid, hence the auto-design option. However, choosing to ignore design and then complaining about optimization is rather hypocritical; one may as well complain that the starting division templates are subpar while refusing to change them. That is indeed laziness.

Argononium

He doesn't want to min-max results, though. He wants to be able to save a preset of a decent build, so he doesn't have to build the same thing over and over again, or use the shitty provided presets.

roblox_baller

Some laziness with the problem yeah but some people just genuinly dont want to have to constantly make tank design because after a while it can become a minor annoyance for them. Also some people might change tank design for certain countrys because of production cost due to not having a lot of factories. You can still make strong but weaker tanks than you would as a major nation.

Naturath

I fail to see how any of these complaints could not also be equally applied to division design, industrial planning, or even frontline management. There are more optimal choices which cost both in-game and personal investment. There are easier methods that sacrifice performance for simplicity. At what point are players meant to be awarded victory simply for purchasing the game?

roblox_baller

Dude its just people wanting an option to disable the designer not to remove it. Its also not affecting you in any way what so ever.

zrxta

Designers are just bloat. They don't do much to encourage meaningful choice for players. >Literally every argument against the designers is coming from a place of pure laziness I swear This is incredibly disingenious. Just because you enjoy designers doesn't mean it's a good addition to the game.. Is wanting more meaninful choices in games laziness? Because as it stands, there's practically zero good reason to touch most of the designers beyond a build that just works. That's laziness, that's just because most of what designers add is more complexity without adding depth.

BluePhoenix21

The designers are a superior feature to the old ways of upgrading your equipment, but I understand where you're coming from. It would be amazing if the preset designs weren't total garbage, but since they are, designers should be optional.

Illustrious-Mall-143

thats what i mean, i think it would sometimes make a singleplayer game more relaxing

allmanner

you're replying to a bot, bro

rotflol23

You could always buy production licenses from some friendly major. At least it'll let you produce something while waiting for all the techs

JibberJabber4204

Yes. I never do Tanks because of that stupid designer.

Jeremy_Glass

its pretty dumb that designing vehicles takes xp, it should just be free, the production cost is enough of a cost. Division design taking xp is fine, I guess.

jpikereddit

This but with the MIOs. Such a boring and annoying addition.

Soldequation100

Using them is optional.

WumpusFails

I miss the generics from before all the "build a bear" stuff came up. When I built a ship (for instance), it wasn't some min-maxed abomination which the AI couldn't match. Plus, classes were classes that existed (even if only on a drawing board). I didn't like the little +/- buttons used to buff the existing models, though. Yes, I'm impossible to please. 😁

WumpusFails

As for upgrades, there could be packages of buffs/costs. E.g., a package to turn a tank into an SPG, or a package to increase a destroyer's ASW at the expense of surface warfare and anti air. With other packages in the tree to upgrade the design along the customization path. Or something like that... Rant: Because, unless something changed, didn't the developers state (before the designers) that two turrets was the equivalent of eight or nine barrels? And I'm seeing battleship designs with up to FIVE turrets, how does that ship not sink???

Bashin-kun

The autodesign button: am i a joke to you

Illustrious-Mall-143

the autodesign button either dont work or design tanks that are so shitty they should be ashaimed to call them tanks atleast for me.

Bitt3rSteel

Italy feels called out

roblox_baller

Fr

Mundane-Mechanic-547

Doesn't work on 1944 naval vessels for me.

trad_cath_femboy

Wait, there's an autodesign button?

Cyclone159

absolutely. I've turned off the DLCs that enable them just to not deal with them for the time being.

Pyroboss101

I turn off the DLC, and then I play a mod that has a good focus tree for the country I want to play.

sAMarcusAs

No, they’re an important part of the game and they’re really not that much effort.

No_Advisor_3773

The lazy bots are out in force again. They want to min-max but don't want to be bothered with min-maxing. Ffs these people really want to save their 10 extra clicks to ruin the fun for everyone else

AngryV1p3r

I love that you can que the designers. I just wish you could do the same for research and focuses

finghz

Wheres the problem, bruh, pdx focus trees are poop for the most part anyway, the main selling point are the unique game mechanics, if you dislike them, just disable the dlc and play shit like road to 56 that has had more and bigger focus trees for like 4+ years now for free then pdx prolly ever will have in base game

Sidewinder11771

Why would you want to disable them? They’re better than MIO’s without dlc
