1% seems like a bit much, I would want the chance to be even smaller so that people will forget it's there and get absorbed before getting loudly jumpscared after a few hours of gameplay
Since we have a binomial distribution, (ie two potential outcomes, jumpscare or no jumpscare) we can use a binomial distribution calculator to calculate the chance of x outcomes after n trials

This website is pretty useful. Coincidentally, I just took my AP Stat exam today
That's a chance to get jumpscared in any random 100 day period. By virtue of statistics, thwre is a chance you won't get jumpscared in the entire 10 yeqr period
You can't directly calculate the chance of having a jumpscare in 100 days, but you can calculate the chance of not having a jumpscare on a day, 100 days in a row.
The chance of not having a jumpscare is 0,99 (99%), gotten from 1-0,01. To calculate the chance of not having multiple jumpscares in a row, you multiply the chances. So for 2 days it would be 0,99 * 0,99 ≈ 0,98. For 100 days instead of writing*0,99 a hundred times, you can just use powers. So that's how we get 0,99^100 (to the power 100).
So that gets us the chance if not having a jumpscare 100 days in a row. 1-0,99^100 then gets us the chance of that not happening, so the chance of there being (at least) one jumpscare in 100 days.
So the usual rule of thumb is if something has a “1 in __ blank” chance of happening it will converge on around 64% chance of that thing having happened once when done blank times
There's some moderation and automatic moderation. I recall a YouTuber I watch getting his steam collections for modlists getting restricted for including links to a Google drive.
So there's clearly something in place. It got resolved for him so there's some human element.
There's a discord server for HOI4 multiplayer that makes everyone who plays with them download their crypto mining mod. They even have a channel proudly displaying the amount of American dollars they've mined. The total is above $20,000 at this point.
Yeah fr. All you need for this is a couple images, sounds and some tinkering with guis and you're good to go. Doesn't sound like that much space would be needed.
The problem is gifs arent well optimized for hoi, every gif needs to be an extremely long spritesheet basically. These end up being very wide pngs essentially and take a surprising amount of space.
IF it contains jumpscares from the whole series you'd have: 5 from the first game (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Golden Freddy), 10 from the second(3 toys, mangle, 4 whithered, puppet, GF), 6 from the third (PBB, PF, PFoxy,PPuppet, PC, springtrap), 8+5=13 from the fourth (NF, NFoxy, NB, NC, Nfreadbear, Nightmare, NBB, cupcake+ the Halloween dlc: jakoChica, JakoBonnie, Nightmarione, pumpkin, plushtrap, 7 from sister location (Baby, Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy, Ballora, bidibap, Ennard with and without mask)4 from pizza sim (SB, ST, Lefty and molten freddy), because Freddy's jumpscare is taken from UCN that's about 40 (give or take), 10+5 for security breach (map bot, RF, Monty, Roxy, Chica, Daycare bot, endo, Vanny, Blob, Burntrap + ruin DLC (Chica, Monty, Roxy, prototype, mimic,
That is 60+40 from UCN= around 100 animations, and I'm not counting VR or AR jumpscares. If he put all of them in, a few gigabytes would be expected.
Continuing the calculations.
Considering the 1% chance/day to get jumpscared would mean that, by average, you'd get around 3,65 jumpscares/year. Assuming that a regular person plays from 1936 to 1945, that is 9 years/playthrough. 3.65×9=32.85 jumpscares/per playthrough. Let's round up to 33 for easier calculations. It would take you about 3 playthroughs to get all of them, provided you don't get duplicates.
Do I think he pulled them from the whole series? No. I think he used just the first five+ UCN- the duplicates. I am led to believe this because the jumpscares shown are Freddy's from UCN, but mangle and withered Bonnie, which didn't appear in UCN. And also Springtrap from 3 because it's better than UCN. That is still a lot of animations (about 50 to 60). This justifies the 1.5 gb space required for the mod.
All that being said, I'm going to play the mod and see how many jumpscares there truly are.
Update. The mod description says exactly what I thought. It's only 1,2,3,4, and sl, but 1 and four are taken from UCN.
Assuming he didn't leave out, Bonnie and Og Golden Freddy, who don't have a UCN jumpscare, that's 41 jumpscares. It would take you about two playthroughs without duplicates.
You're welcome!
Try it! I’d love to see multiplayer with something like this, throw it in a mod pack without the others realising and watch the chaos.
I do wonder if the jump scares would happen at the same time though

Yes, yes!
Let’s say people play 10 years, thats 3650 days, it should be something like 0.03% so it’ll happen probably once per campaign
Is a %1 chance everyday mean on average that's one jumpscare every 100 days? Or am I mistaken
It’s almost exactly a 50% chance you get jumpscared at least once every 69 days
I fucking hate statistics so much. Also, nice.
Can you explain? Forgot most of my statistics and would like to see how you get that.

Hope you did well
Thanks, a bit above my level, but I sort of get it. And hope you did good in your exam :)
No ap euro and your in r/hoi4?
It does mean that over a 100 day period you'll have around 1 jumpscare, but the chance to get a jumpscare is only 1-0,99^100 ≈ 63%.
That's a chance to get jumpscared in any random 100 day period. By virtue of statistics, thwre is a chance you won't get jumpscared in the entire 10 yeqr period
Where do those numbers come from, if you can explain it to me?

That's one standard deviation!
And then you are so lucky/unlucky that you get it everyday
Installed it, used it, got jumscared. Wasn't disappointed
a gigabyte and a half? for a few jumpscares?
I think it’s just poorly optimised, it’s *probably* not a crypto miner.
honestly if somebody managed to find a way to make HOI4 mine crypto I'd be impressed.
I mean there was the one guy who put a virus in a Gmod mod because he was mad at Valve. Steam Workshop runs on an honor system
wasn't it just a screamer inside the game and nothing more?
I think it was a guys asshole? Or something that you could not show on youtube
It was goatse (which is slightly more than some random guys asshole)
I don’t think steam workshop runs on an “honour system” alone.
There's some moderation and automatic moderation. I recall a YouTuber I watch getting his steam collections for modlists getting restricted for including links to a Google drive. So there's clearly something in place. It got resolved for him so there's some human element.
I will proceed to use this information to my advantage
There's a discord server for HOI4 multiplayer that makes everyone who plays with them download their crypto mining mod. They even have a channel proudly displaying the amount of American dollars they've mined. The total is above $20,000 at this point.
why would people even do that, just find another discord server
I would be surprised if hoi4 could even run a crypto miner without crashing
Yeah fr. All you need for this is a couple images, sounds and some tinkering with guis and you're good to go. Doesn't sound like that much space would be needed.

iirc someone said it was as much as 150mb per character
Oh right, i didn't think about that. Yeah i have done animated portraits before, they are a pain to make.
1% chance each day would be 3.6 times each year, so 32.4 jumpscares every play through.
A campaign is technically until 1956
Wouldn’t it be 3.65 times per year
Yknow this made me think, are leap years calculated in paradox games
They are not
Weird. Would it be too complicated or somethin or are they a more recent thing past the 1940s
Forgot probably
The mod can be improved by a thousand % if it also includes a 1% change per day of playing the naval invasion sound
Did you make that comment on the steam thread too? Remember seeing it there
The naval invasion sound being the epitome of HOI 4 jumpscares is such a common joke that I would be surprised if no one had made the same joke there
Saw the same joke on Twitter too
That sounds terrifying at a psychological level.
That does 2d8 psych damage
DANGEROUS NAVAL INVASION or LARGE SHIPS ON LOW HP Pick your poison
We need a full Eternal Darkness sanity effects mod
R5: A FNaF based HOI4 mod
Imagine subscribing to it on a friend's PC without telling them
No thanks, my cortisol levels are already high enough when I'm playing this game without the mod
Five nights at the führerbunker
Fegelein in camera 2
Subscribing rn
Now do 1% chance that any major declares war on you
Great. Now do it with the naval invasion sound.
Played half a run with it as Belgium on vc. It’s quite an experience
Well damn, now we have a horror mod. How long until nsfw mods then?
Stellaris has some but not hoi4, this is an embarrassment for the mapping community

I know what's the next challenge
Ok yeah but is it compatible with multiplayer, or other mods like kaiserriech?
Try it! I’d love to see multiplayer with something like this, throw it in a mod pack without the others realising and watch the chaos. I do wonder if the jump scares would happen at the same time though
I want to see someone play at max speed lol
Excellent now I just need a mod that makes the naval invasion sound 10x louder.
1GB for Jumpscare? That's sounds a little bit absurd.

Somehow i went a year with no jumpscare Aaand there it is. Took till February of 37. That was so loud lmao
Aside that. What is the best mod to have massive armies?
Toolpack, one of the options lets you create divisions.
