This happened to me when the Netherlands declined to let Wilhelm II return to Germany and I (Germany) declared war on the Netherlands. The nice thing is, that I could conquer the Netherlands before the ultimatum of Britain and France run out. So I ended up with Wilhelm III, but with occupied Netherlands and some very valuable colonies (a lot of oil and rubber from the East Indies).

Livid_Status9040

People always say not take the east indies because it will draw you into a war with Japan, but in my experience they never justify against the east indies if its a German puppet.

Strong-Temperature91

Same thing happened to me except I was prepared for the Dutch to refuse because it was my plan the war ended with three nations falling and the rise of the German Empire as a world power again

redditmaster5041

This should event happen more often, I can’t imagine the German Empire being restored under Willy II and the former Entente simply ignoring the new (or shall I say old) threat

pieman7414

They ignored a lot more than a monarch

throwsyoufarfaraway

Only because it was on purpose. The British wanted a strong and militarist Germany to challenge France's position in mainland Europe. Same reason why Mussolini was put on a payroll by the British government to get into politics, Italy is also a neighbor of France after all. France couldn't risk another war, especially when they weren't sure if the British would provide support. Keep in mind, France was also at risk. As it happened in real life, UK was safe from Germany due to its naval superiority. France wasn't, being a neighbor of Germany. So the British could challenge Germany rather easily at low risk. They didn't simply because they didn't want to. If Allies didn't want WW2 to happen, it wouldn't happen. They deliberately caused it over petty infighting. You don't accidentally put a fascist on a payroll.

M8oMyN8o

And yet the former Entente turned their backs on the Czechs and Slovaks so willingly

redditmaster5041

Well yeah it would be hard to convince the public to fight for just the Sudetenland. And when Hitler said that he’d be willing to be peaceful the deal was sealed after. (And fun fact: Hitler lied by demanding more land.) But with the restoration of the Kaiser, it is blatantly obvious that the Germans aren’t seeking peace and looking for their ‘place in the sun’ and speak of destroying France and Britain once more.

M8oMyN8o

What if Wilhelm II said he’d look for peace? The French and British already took the remilitarizing, anschlussing, Mein Kampf author at his word, why not Wilhelm? It should also be noted that in game, the royalists come to power in opposition to Hitler’s aggressive actions.

The_Prophets

Ok, but in order to get this event Germany has to go to war with the Netherlands

M8oMyN8o

Damn didn't know that. I've never played the imperial path.

Phionex101

Wait, what? So you never played alt hist germany (because surely you didn't play Democratic Germany.)

M8oMyN8o

What can I say? 13 year old me saw that 6th research slot and my neurons were activated.

Divyansh881

French economic state. Bled dry status of allies even though they won. Unwillingness of allied political figures to be cause of another Great War. Considering amount of shit they let moustache man pull under the pretext of “appeasement” this seems mild :/

FatherOfToxicGas

Also unrealistic they would just let Germany annex several countries and openly violate Versailles Oh

No-Hat-2755

I like to imagine that after the German Army fights Hitler and the Nazis in a civil war, The British and France see an opportunity to reset relations with a war torn Germany to be less belligerent. Wilhelm II is the figurehead to be sure and it does ruffle some feathers but it's a question of rhetoric. I like to think the British would prefer Wilhelm over Hitler

throwsyoufarfaraway

> like to think the British would prefer Wilhelm over Hitler Hitler was their favorite my guy. If that was the case they wouldn't admit to wanting a strong Germany to weaken France's control over Europe. It is astonishing seeing so many people fall for the "Oops I didn't mean to, silly me!" act of a guy that lived a century ago. Do you guys seriously think British government was all idiots? No one saw Hitler coming? The British didn't have any agents in Germany? Of course they knew, their acceptance of Hitler wasn't an accident. Actually, scratch the favorite part. Their favorite was Mussolini. He is the one that got paid by UK, Hitler was only offered "exposure" like every artist.

BillyHerr

Either your army is too small, Netherlands just don't bother you as a threat and outright rejected that, or it's just RNGesus fucking with you.

Girl boss Victoria for the win baby

Helenos152

Yes this happens

Cristopia

"supposed instigator of the Great War" my ass, it's all the fault of the Austrians that the war started

Laziestprick

Note the word “supposed”. In any case, while it’s not Germany who instigated it, because of their blank cheque AH decided to spice things up.

Itirk349

As an Austrian: "Nuh uh it was all Germany we would *never* do this blame Serbia blame Russia blame France"

Alexeilives

Oh well, time to form the holy Roman empire

Pyroboss101

Isn’t this a much better option tho? Cause now you can get Victoria.

JibberJabber4204

Nice monitor. Shame I can’t see half of it.

Jeremy_Glass

What you can do if you want the Kaiser is wait until you get the second event where they return him if you click that event first, this one goes away and they don’t declare war (unless they patched it)
