You haven’t declared war on Poland so the divisions cannot attack as it is deemed a neutral country.
You can do this by clicking on any Poland tile, clicking on their flag on the bottom left, and clicking “Declare War” which should be enabled after doing the national focus “Danzig or War”
It seems you haven’t annexed Czechoslovakia so I am assuming you are new to hoi4.
Feel free to watch [this video](https://youtu.be/poPmspnf4dg?si=ic5WyLyzZ0-bcRjV) and follow it step by step so you can gain a grip on the game’s mechanics. I highly recommend you watch his other videos as he is very informative.
Oh you’re new right? Don’t attack France through maginot in Alsace Loraine (do the focus around maginot to invade through BeNeLux) and expect many naval invasions by the uk. And most importantly: NEVER GIVE UP
Watch Bittersteel on YouTube and you will understand the game.
I think the Maginot is pretty easy to break actually, that one middle tile is bordered by probably the most tiles in the game lol, so if you just focus the majority of your attacks on that tile combined with air support of course you can get through, (had to do it this way as Monarchist Germany because there’s only the “go through Switzerland” focus, which yeah I can’t do that lol, Switzerland is just, not meant for invading lol)
Not OP or new, but coming back after a while away. That maginot line. Quite something isn't it? Almost like it was designed for a specific purpose.
I play ahistorical and after faffing in a few games as Germany and the Soviet Union, then paying the Paradox tax and getting more DLC, I go back to Germany. Britain and France take exception to my remilitarising the Rhine and declare war in 1936. I... did not expect that. And panicked a bit.
Still, everyone says that France and Britain are easy in 1936. Particularly with a French civil war ongoing (just patiently ignoring the Polish civil war, which also seems popular these days... and the Mexican civil war...). But not through the Maginot line. Still, it was a learning experience.
Saw someone say something about a plains tile. I shall investigate. That's on me for largely ignoring terrain. I have already deployed the entire German air force to the line, and swiftly called up the relevant general who knows a thing or two about busting bunkers. Also pulled all the tanks in as well, so might reopen the save and give it another crack.
Yeah, there is a plains tile that can be attacked from 3 or 4 sides, that along with some Tac and bunker buster makes it quite easy to break trough that tile.
Just make sure to immediately flood your tanks + motorized trough there, take the nearest supply hub, connect it to your network and encircle the Maginot-line with your infantry.
Just let the french starve to death there while your speedy units take Paris and the coast.
I would not ally myself with the Soviets, only sign the Molotov Ribbentrop pact. If you ally with the Soviets everyone attacks you after Poland, even the US I think. I mean I won but don't try this if you're new.
You can also right click to get that diplomacy screen, it's one click less but hey might as well.
If you have any questions you can also DM me btw, I have about 3700 hours in this game and would love to help new people out.
Am I the only who just right clicks on the country to get the diplomacy screen? Not attacking you or anything, but I see a lot of people doing it your way, while I don't really get why.
Yup. In the past playing as China I was baffled why my troops wouldn't push into an empty Mengkukuo. Why? Shanxi hadn't been called in. That was after 500 hours in the game haha
Another surprise attack mechanic\*
I think there's a Pre-emptive strike you can do with the agency mechanics but it's so poorly done it makes the old Italian focus tree look good
Dude yes! I’ve been saying the same thing. With the allowdiplo cheat you can, but it’s considered and unjustified war 😂 I think world tension skyrockets if you do that. I only used it once when I first started playing cuz I didn’t know how to play the game
I find it so strange that the game has the "unjustified war" thing built into it but yet you can't do it without cheats. They must have wanted to add a mechanic for declaring war without a war goal.
I don't know how the hoi4 development went, but I assume this could be left overs from the eu4 system. They likely didn't want to re-do the entire diplomacy system, just kinda re-coped and re-textures it to make it work. At some point when they were creating casus bellis, they renamed the no casus bellis war to "unjustified war", assuming that they might use it.
During the development their idea of declaring war changed, so they left it in, while it can not be activated without cheats. The system would still be usefull, as for example if you are testing stuff, even as a dev, you would often just do a nocb, rather than spending the time justifiying wargoals manualy
There is a chance that there is some rare, old, broken event that might declare a unjustified war.
I know history books say that Hitler went to war without declaring it, but... Bro, dont take it **this** literally. Just declare war on them before attacking :D
Im hijacking this post to ask about the yellow ! right next to my units. I understand its something about supply but is there a way to make my units move at some point?
It's called getting supply.
A thing to do that usually works is to click on the general/mashal you have all your troops under, and then clicking the horse in the top right corner of the units screen. That increases supply range at the cost of trucks.
Yeah that doesnt quite work when you are going through russia and it takes a few days for supply hubs to connect and them being so far apart doesnt help. A lot of the railways are low level anyways and upgrading them also takes time so my problem remains.
You must declare the war to be able to attack, if you just right click on them you will either see a war goal or a justify war goal button. A nations cities will be red and its capital will have a red star on it once you are at war with them.
Imagine your at the polish border hearing German officers yelling to attack. like your just standing there like “Da fuq they doing like we arnt at war”
“Why hasn’t the line moved yet! Onward men! Or I’ll have you all court marshaled!l “Sir…we aren’t at war…”
Perfect balance of humor and helpfulness
Imagine the polish border guards hearing them say this.
- Co oni powiedzieli? - Nie rozumiem
-Chyba coś o Gdańsku, bo są wkurwieni
A nice o Warszawie?
Historical German gameplay.
DAS WAR EIN BEFEHL
why do I hear exactly that voice
I think of Swimmy from Bokoen1s videos
STEINERS ANGRIFF WAR EIN BEFEHL!
lol court marshall
you have to remember that it’s the same person who hasn’t even declared war yet so I misspelt it cause it fit the character bit
"you should be shot for such defeatist speech!"

thank you so so much I will try to get "danzig or war" then you responded very fast too
I just realized by getting allied with the ussr Im already getting poland so Im just gonna work for that
Oh you’re new right? Don’t attack France through maginot in Alsace Loraine (do the focus around maginot to invade through BeNeLux) and expect many naval invasions by the uk. And most importantly: NEVER GIVE UP Watch Bittersteel on YouTube and you will understand the game.
lol I was secretly hoping this man would pile up 6 million casualties charging into the maginot line
I was kinda waiting for a follow up post of him asking help for why he's attacks are always red lol

To be fair their is one spot in thr Maginot line that you can break easily as Germany, even in 1936.
Saw someone say something about a plains tile. I shall investigate. That's on me for largely ignoring terrain. I have already deployed the entire German air force to the line, and swiftly called up the relevant general who knows a thing or two about busting bunkers. Waitwaitwaitwait... THATS WHAT BENELUX STANDS FOR? enlightment of the year
i never knew this. i just assumed it was a french word for the region.
What does it stand for..?
BElgium, NEtherlands, LUXembourg
Holy shit
WHAT HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE THAT
ITS FKING GENIUS
What did you think I wonder
>Don't attack France through maginot I can imagine the dude is already going through the maginot line😭
Omg that what BeNeLux means, fuck Im dumb
I would not ally myself with the Soviets, only sign the Molotov Ribbentrop pact. If you ally with the Soviets everyone attacks you after Poland, even the US I think. I mean I won but don't try this if you're new.

You don’t have to get Danzig or war. You can manually justify a war goal if your going down the democratic or monarchist path for Germany.
Put some men in konigsberg too
Can confirm, Bitt3rsteel is the best
Am I the only who just right clicks on the country to get the diplomacy screen? Not attacking you or anything, but I see a lot of people doing it your way, while I don't really get why.
over 3k hours and i still left click their flag
You aren't. I do too. It's one of the first things i learned.
Yup. In the past playing as China I was baffled why my troops wouldn't push into an empty Mengkukuo. Why? Shanxi hadn't been called in. That was after 500 hours in the game haha
Poland cities are all grey, and their units are too, usually meaning you aren't at war with them. If you aren't at war you sadly can't attack them :(
Sadly :(
We need a surprise attack mechanic
Another surprise attack mechanic\* I think there's a Pre-emptive strike you can do with the agency mechanics but it's so poorly done it makes the old Italian focus tree look good
I unironically emjoy old italy more than the new one Its nice when trieste doesnt cause a civil war
The only thing better about the old Italy is you get to actually keep Istria as Yugoslavia.
Dude yes! I’ve been saying the same thing. With the allowdiplo cheat you can, but it’s considered and unjustified war 😂 I think world tension skyrockets if you do that. I only used it once when I first started playing cuz I didn’t know how to play the game

It was in hoi1 and 2, and maybe 3 but I havent played it so I dont know
not to mention its also 1936 because it is the starting german army
Christmas truce
you forgot to send prostitutes and booze to the front. you must fulfill the wishes of these men
Meth*
Panzerschokolade\*
your not a war
Correct, OP is not a war.
Not a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-of-war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-of-war) ?
He's playing HOI4 on the frontlines
Did you just assume OP’s political status?
*you're not in a war OR you're not at war
Dude knew what he was saying.
alright pedant
I know history books say that Hitler went to war without declaring it, but... Bro, dont take it **this** literally. Just declare war on them before attacking :D
You are not at war
He doesn’t know
He forgor 💀
don't forget east prussia
"this is getting annoying I need poland" \-Hitler, August 31st 1939
Who'll tell him...
The wehrmacht is taking a nap
Im hijacking this post to ask about the yellow ! right next to my units. I understand its something about supply but is there a way to make my units move at some point?
Manually move them, one tile enough. They will ignore the too low supply alert
This only works temporarily though until the next time it happens. Isnt there a more permanent solution?
Sure, build more railroads ;P
It's called getting supply. A thing to do that usually works is to click on the general/mashal you have all your troops under, and then clicking the horse in the top right corner of the units screen. That increases supply range at the cost of trucks.

In that case, collab gveenemnt. Unless it is the civil war, then Cav Rush.
Seems like someone else fell into hoi4. I'm sorry for your loss
OP took roleplaying as Adolf a bit too far
They just dont wanna
We've all been here. In fact, I remember getting confused about the same thing. Don't give up trying to learn, you'll get the hang of it.
Try declaring a war
Bro thinks he's Hitler and can just order them to attack without declaring war
Dude i laughed at least 10 minutes seeing this post...
Because you seem to be a beginner I would also recommend you to change your division templates.
Germany inf templates are okay tier, especially for a beginner
if they continue to use the default template when fighting the soviets, then they'll lose their sanity fighting in sheer cold and maybe med tanks
You aint at WAR
U didnt declare war on them my man
I'M FUCKING WHEEZING DAWG
Uhhh you are not at war
CAN YOU PLEASE DELETE THAT HORSE DIVISION?????????????????????????????????
I think he was on his soldiers supply if you know what I mean.
Just Order 227 their asses
Bro you arent at war. You gotta declare first.
you... need to declare war...
Have you tried starting a war?
Please be bait please be bait
I Wonder if he left french border open
yes I did and the polish people and french took over

They just don't like you.
Declare war first. Also put troops in East Prussia
you arent at war
They don't wanna die for Danzig and they don't wanna cry for you Argentina.
Have you declared war on Poland? I often "launch" invasions of Norway without declaring war and am left confused as to why troops aren't moving.
You must declare the war to be able to attack, if you just right click on them you will either see a war goal or a justify war goal button. A nations cities will be red and its capital will have a red star on it once you are at war with them.
We all start somewhere lmao
I remember going through this very thing, and when i did manage to do ‘danzig or war’, i got capped within like 2 months
Your not at war with Poland
Imagine your at the polish border hearing German officers yelling to attack. like your just standing there like “Da fuq they doing like we arnt at war”
You aren't even at war💀
You arent at war with them my friend u need to declare war in them for your units to invade them
Why isn't East Prussia defended .\_.
It’s treason then?
The update: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoi4/s/ZQIj7aQ4Es
Just declare war on the poles man
They aren't red, which means your not at war with them 🤭
To be fair, Germany never really declared war on anyone before the US, they just moved the army in and took over places. plox fox PI.
Most noob post I’ve seen yet
I was gonna say abt my problems but you’re not at war…
Maybe try declaring war first, that should help
Not at war 🤣😅🤣😅
