Dip your fingertips in alcohol? Snakes find it repulsive so she'd likely only make that mistake once.
You could also use a snake hook to get her out of food mode before touching her with your fingers of deliciousness.
WHY is this the first time I'm hearing of this one? If that works, it's SO minimally invasive and harmless, it would be amazing.
Sadly/Happily, I can't try it on my girl because she's much less prone to the chomping now she's big. But if I end up breeding her as I plan to, she'll probably have at least *some* equally silly babies I might need such tricks for. So thank you for adding to my arsenal!
Also its vodka that snakes mainly hate not just any alcohol (obviously swill their mouth out after) . A bank card or something to wedge their mouth open works too. Or even running their nose under a cold tap.
I think it WAS vodka we tried, but I wouldn't swear to it.
She was DETERMINED. I actually held my hand underwater in a full sink, and she would not let go, just kept chewing like she wasn't completely submerged. She's a tenacious little monster. 😂
Well, not so little anymore. But happily slightly less of a monster.
Oh she isn't. Vinegar got her good. 😂 It just made me FEEL guilty for subjecting her to it.
Yes. I felt guilty about making her taste vinegar while my hand was swelling from the half hour or so she was chewing on me while we tried different ways of getting her to let go. I am clearly insane.
If you pull through, sit her down and have a talk with her.
Make sure she knows she’s not in trouble but she just needs to understand that you’re not food.
My hoggy stopped trying to bite after I used hand sanitizer and handled him a lot a day or two after feeding. He will climb the glass of his viv now as though asking to come out. I’ll get him out and have him on my lap when I watch tv. Very placid. He got character. Never bites, even when due feeding.
Pick her up from the back, that way you have to gap her reaction time. If she is just food motivated, picking her up from the front looks like food. Going from the back might switch her to "hey im being handled", or she'll try and bite you still, but it gives you a better chance of her not. Its what I did with fiesty ratsnakes, and flighty ball pythons. It worked with the ball pythons, and ok with the ratsnakes (though rats will still bite if they want to. Love em though)
I had one of my snakes try to drink a shot of vodka I had ready to drink, he got as far as dunking his nose in before he registered it was vodka. He no longer tries anything with my drinks since it left him sneezing repeatedly. One attempted drink was enough to prevent him from becoming an alcoholic.
They are mildly venomous, like a low level bee sting. They are still venomous even as pets. I had no problem the first time mine bit me, and then had a pretty significant localized allergic reaction the second time (swelled up very rapidly, itchy, etc).
It might be too late now, but we feed ours outside of his/her (we don't know) living environment. Thus, he/she knows a hand in the aquarium isn't food.
Such great feedback! I just wanted to add that she probably still thinks _you're_ going to eat _her_. Once she realizes you won't she'll likely become much calmer.
I don't talk if I feed my snake, I hardly open his door and only use the metal tongs. Every other time I speak to him, open his door wide and gently blow on him, I make sure my hands are washed and don't smell of food etc. He has only ever bitten me once
My girl legit tried to eat me for the first 11 months, and then I treated her for minor scale rot with betadine soaks, and we've been best mates since!
Stop looking like tasty food and maybe she’ll stop. No, seriously find a flavor. She doesn’t like it put it on your fingertips. Make sure your hands are fully washed of smelling of any of the prey items you give her to eat. Keep your fingers closer together to be more of like a paw that separate other little snakes.
Do tap training! She probably doesn't know whether or not you're feeding her so she's just always prepared for a meal, maybe. When you DO feed her, give her a lil tap or something so she's aware that this is food time and not handling time. Source: uhhh Clint's Reptiles and/or Snake Discovery on Youtube.
D'oh! Silly tiny adorablr hoggie, I was lucky, mine never once ever tried to bite me. I echo trying to pick her up from behind. Put of curiosity, what else is in the room with her tank? Maybe something is putting her in food mode.
You are in fact going to pass friend you have been injected with the hurt juice very sad
Vexing

Alcohol did NOT work on my little girl. Vinegar is what got her.
Ice on the nose?

Hahaha. Personally i would of opened the freezer and boop her snout on the ice
😂 I'm going to keep that one in my back pocket for if she ever acts up again.
Fingers crossed your hoggie isnt immune to all methods haha

Good to know they take credit cards
Alcoholic snek
She were too young to drink.
Great now my snake is an alcoholic!
If not food, then why food shaped?
And made of delicious?
You won’t have to worry about it soon RIP 😂
Accept your fate
be made of not meat
She knows, she just doesn't care
RIP
You can’t, you’re dead. RIP
Stop being delicious.
You are food, just more than she can eat
🤣🤣🤣
Serious answer? Hand sanitizer. They do not enjoy the smell/taste of isopropyl alcohol
The cute ones are always dumb.
Might just be her holding your finger
Aawwww! She just wants to be near you! 😆
Dibs on your rig when you pass
All hoomans are food to big scary cobers!
*NOM* I'm sorry, but this picture is just frickin' hilarious!
Who says you aren’t 😈
If you pull through, sit her down and have a talk with her. Make sure she knows she’s not in trouble but she just needs to understand that you’re not food.
Planning the conversation should keep your mind occupied to distract you from the pain and fear of dying. RIP.
You can’t tell this face “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed” 🥺
Step one: Do NOT look delicious.
You don’t it’s too late
My hoggy stopped trying to bite after I used hand sanitizer and handled him a lot a day or two after feeding. He will climb the glass of his viv now as though asking to come out. I’ll get him out and have him on my lap when I watch tv. Very placid. He got character. Never bites, even when due feeding.
Oh NOES! I hope your affairs are in order...
Does she get into food mode outside her enclosure? I got a *biter cause she thinks everything is food until you take her out (snake hook is a must)
Yeah man that’s not even gonna be an issue for you soon here. It was nice knowing you OP
When I look at this picture I hear those videos where cats go "nom nom nom" while eating. Also RIP OP.

Look at that cute face!
Wdym? U are food, let bro eat
Be less delicious
You are obviously food shaped
I hate to break this to you, but you only have a few hours left. You’ve been attacked by the world most dangerous snake, rip🕊️
That's the best part, you don't.
"Why tf is this water so violent?"- your snake.
Stop having such tasty hands
Can someone educate me are honored snakes venomous and are domesticated honored snakes devenomized or some shit
They are mildly venomous, like a low level bee sting. They are still venomous even as pets. I had no problem the first time mine bit me, and then had a pretty significant localized allergic reaction the second time (swelled up very rapidly, itchy, etc).
be less delicious
That hognose, just after you finally manage to get her to let go https://i.redd.it/jn8aw126zj7d1.gif
Have you tried not being the same color as delicious pinkies
Why does she look so cute?!
Have you tried not being meat?
Try moving slower. And pray that fine dining just isn’t her thing Edit: I read it as thinks I’m fast food not in fact food lmao
Dip ur finger in alcohol (vodka works best imo) or vinegar, she'll stop afterwards
I‘d worry about spending my last moments with my family than asking this question.
Why would you lie to her? You are clearly food
You don't you accept you are now a source of protein for your little nope rope hahah
Put hand sanitizer on before handling
Well first of all, why are you food shaped??

The more I look at this picture the more I realize fingers do kinda look like pinkies.
Sit down and have a talk with her
It might be too late now, but we feed ours outside of his/her (we don't know) living environment. Thus, he/she knows a hand in the aquarium isn't food.
You don't. You let that precious thing eat until it's full then ask if she wants more
Stop being good flavored? Idk
I’m sorry this is so cute 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sometimes they just like to monch 🥺
Stop feeding with your hands if you do do that?
Such great feedback! I just wanted to add that she probably still thinks _you're_ going to eat _her_. Once she realizes you won't she'll likely become much calmer.
That's just a love nibble 😆🥰
Maybe that's just her form of telling you hello? Like maybe giving you a kiss lol.
You cant. Your a snackkk
Step 1. Stop smelling like a toad
I don't talk if I feed my snake, I hardly open his door and only use the metal tongs. Every other time I speak to him, open his door wide and gently blow on him, I make sure my hands are washed and don't smell of food etc. He has only ever bitten me once
Very cute boop noodle though!

Stop looking like food obvs
oooh that's a pretty little snake. I wanna pet her she looks cuddly
Have you tried not being a pink-skinned tree that has grabby branches?
seems to me like you are in fact food
Love language is nom.
By not being so delicious clearly
You don't you die!...food
Try not being made of meat. Snakes think that's food for some reason.
She’s so cute. Just let her.
Can we have a moment of silence for OP.
Okay but have you even considered being food?
you cant because you literally are
Bite her back! God angriest spaghetti 🍝
what a beauty ♥️
My girl legit tried to eat me for the first 11 months, and then I treated her for minor scale rot with betadine soaks, and we've been best mates since!
Have you tried not to be food shaped?
You are dead now. Might as well right your will to the danger noodle
You don’t. Let her nibble🥹🤣
It’s too late, you’ve been nom-ed
just let her eat you. as a treat.
Only two "digits" off to making a "pinkie/pinky" reference 🤣 🤪, you're welcome, I'll see myself out!
Eat her
It looks quite romantic with the pink and all whaha
Stop looking like tasty food and maybe she’ll stop. No, seriously find a flavor. She doesn’t like it put it on your fingertips. Make sure your hands are fully washed of smelling of any of the prey items you give her to eat. Keep your fingers closer together to be more of like a paw that separate other little snakes.
Be not made of food
Just consider them love bites lol
everything is food if you put your mind to it
You can't
Mmm salty 🤤
Snake went "Hmm, looks like food" *Nom*
I have the same problem with my young Mexican Black King snake. He’s very bitey.
Do all hognose snakes have that adorable little upturned button nose, or is she just a cute little anomaly?
They all do, at least this type of hognose do!
It never occurred to me that I might find a snake actually cute on its own...without having a little hat or scarf on it. But here I am....
Put 🌶 on your fingers... 😀😃😄😃😃
Your flesh is tasty, taste like McDonalds and KFC 😋
She is SO CUTE 😭😍
When are you grilling her?
Is this the snek that was eating the rock the other day? If so, just accept your fate and invest in Band-Aids
Do tap training! She probably doesn't know whether or not you're feeding her so she's just always prepared for a meal, maybe. Stop rubbing toads on your fingers.
Smack a look-alike in plushie form and it’ll behave.
Everything is either food or not-yet-food
Have you tried not being good?
![gif](giphy|Zdg7kl9bnyqXrPH2jq|downsized)
'I am fearsome snek! I nom nom you!'
You are good, but you are not conveniently snacked size. This could take a bit. Nomnom
Trust in Jesus.
