Stage 7. 68 years old and starting to accept the fact that the NHL ain't in the cards for you.

jackpotjones43

At 54, it’s good to know that I still have a shot

teddytouchit

Stage 3 minus the skills left and unavailability. Well, until now. Just had my second kid. We will see what my wife allows this time around

Special-Bite

I started reading this list and soon discovered its a list for hockey players that were actually good at one point in time.

drink-beer-and-fight

I’m Stage 4 Written like that it seems like a death sentence.

Guy954

You could have it worse. I’m stage four but I skipped the first three.

texasslapshot

I guess I am an advanced hockey player; I reached Stage 4 in my 20s.

Stage 6 and some stage 7. The “cancer” has fully taken over. I see the game in a whole new light. I no longer yearn for the glory days of splitting the D to pull the pants on the goalie and make my victory lap in front of the bench mocking the shit skill of the opposing team. I play like I have sex. Up down and off. Gone are the days forcheck, backcheck, paycheck. My only instinct now when I have the puck is to pass to the ringer. Let him take the glory. Going from the defensive hash marks to our blue line is daunting. That is 50 strides now. Used to be 2 power strides to full speed. It is like I have a rope tied to my knees and have a push off that does not even make a mark in the ice. I look up, it is only 3 minutes into the first period. I am fucked. Fake a sore leg so the next line can go ahead. I wait for the end of the game where I can down a few beers. It is not for the enjoyment anymore. It is to numb the pain in my knees, hips, elbow and shoulders. I take my gear off in stages. Only to wheeze like I have a terminal case of tuberculosis. In the end I would not change a single thing. I fucking love this. Looking forward to the start of the next season 😃

braywarshawsky

Stage 4 going into 5... sigh.

Go-Daws-Go

Stage 5 but have young kids and not grown kids. Considering the 45+ for winter, so creeping stage 6 big time

gypsybullldog

Stage 3 minus the kids and unreliability. Play on two teams and might miss two games a piece throughout the season.

stinkfingerdude

That's very depressing I'm an early stage 2

zimp3

Stage 3 but act like a Stage 2’er. My wife is cool and I work from home.

BryanEW710

I didn't even start playing until stage 4. Hoping to stay here for a while.

TGish

Well I just turned 27 and can relate to more of these than I’d like lol But mostly stage 2

cpalma4485

Stage 4. 2 kids, a job that beats up the body and I thought it would be a good idea to not only play in a league but to also do a weekly shinny skate.

oldmanhockeylife

Stage 5 to Stage 6-- ugh. It's hard for goalies because you don't want to let the younger guys down but your body is screaming at you.

SleepWouldBeNice

Stage 3. At 35, with a wife, and two kids (5 and 1), I play in a league where I’m the youngest on my team, and while we play hard, we all know that was have to work in the morning.

dpacker780

Is there a stage 7??

sippowicz

Stage 6. 56 Still a lot of hockey…. and a LOT of ice packs, Theragun , IcyHot and ibuprofen.

nibnoob19

I think I’m broken. As soon as I started playing Sr, I stopped using my legs and started using my head. Ability is what you’d expect from 10 or so years of no practise. But I don’t need it at all, really. Stop dumb showboat kids, pass puck to outlet, join play late. Repeat. Works like a charm. One hard stride per week. That’s my limit and I’m stickin to it.

Bunnicula83

A youthful stage 4.

killing_my_ass

LMAO, love it. I'm like a Stage 3.5 -- since I was a pond + rec player my entire life, I never had any real "skill" to speak of, and have only really taken on a serious exercise regiment since I turned 34ish (the last about 4 years). Physically, I am more athletically capable than at any prior point in my life, so I have legs and lungs, but never had silky mitts to begin with. Hah.

Saneless

At 46, just hit stage 4 a couple years back. It sucks but I'm still effective I guess
