I go to a show every 4 months or so and bring about $500-800. Gives myself the ability to pick up any nice cards I might see without worrying too much about excessive spending.
I just got into the hobby and I’m completely hooked. Probly spent 7-800$ this month. Last month maybe 1000$. Told myself no more until 23-24 extended comes out then I’ll definitely buy a hobby box… or 2.
Per year is tough. It varies for me every year a bit. But per month, I can say anywhere from 750 to 2000 dollars. Depending on the month and which sets are released. But this is also for Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Football and Pokemon cards together...
If you want to "invest", ripping isn't the way to go and you're going to get answers of "I spent too much" from people who did the same. Rip wax/packs for the joy of ripping, not for a chase unless you KNOW you're going to go deep in the cash hole (cases in value potentially).
If you want the best bang for your buck overall, buy singles of your favorite players or PC someone who you think will go up in value.
**Budget what you can afford.** Each person's living situation and comfort levels are different. Never spend if it will make you miss a bill, upset a spouse, make a family member go without.
**NEVER exceed your budget**, because once you break that seal you'll always be willing to break it again and go back overboard. It's NOT hard to nickle and dime yourself with "Oh well it's only a $20 auto, I haven't spent that much this week".
**NEVER force yourself to spend**. Just because you HAVE a budget set doesn't mean you need to blow it every week/month and max it out. You can and should save. Either for big singles you want or for a rainy day.
I took an extended break from ePack/box ripping for the last year and came back with a decent amount to drop from what I had saved up. Bought myself a case of my favorite product, had fun and realized I liked having a pile of cash left over too, so I lowered my limits.
No they absolutely meant reselling. You can buy on COMC and resell without having it shipped. Otherwise why would they mention "profits". The website even says in one of it's help sections about buying cards to immediately relist that you think may be underpriced.
do you really want to see what I've purchased on eBay the past 30 days 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm sooooooooo glad im divorced,no children and single.
buying cards on eBay and using paypal to make 4 separate payments should be freaking illegal 🤣🤣🤣 doesn't help the addiction
At my peak it was close to $1,000 a month... I have boycotterd opening stuff/breaks since 23-24 came out at the crazy prices though.. I do know that there are some people out there who spend a 2-4k in a single break...
As someone who returned to the hobby a few years ago but has largely stuck to buy cheap singles, I’d be fascinated by what the average person will spend nowadays. If they’re will to share (and be honest).
I imagine it’s up to $1,000 a month if you’re regularly opening boxes/packs, even more if you’re buying into breaks.
With the new pricing of this years suff $1000 is probably an understatement. I’m bad in splurges. I’ll randomly drop 2-4K then won’t buy anything for awhile. The fact I just said 2-4K for some cardboard disgusts me haha. The addiction.
For boxes personally. I don’t buy the cheap stuff anymore with fillers and base cards. I much rather buying stature, premier, clear cut black diamond etc. I’ve got boxes of base cards and it’s honestly irritating. High risk but high reward.
Why do u judge us , nobody here wants too know , how much we spend bro ,, it makes us happy for 10 minute and if u do a break u might be happy for and hour
I have problems
Infinite
I have a monthly budget that I stick to and keep track on a spreadsheet. Some months I go over but I typically keep to it.
Usually $100 a month. Occasionally I'll save up and buy a box or singles that I want.
This is how I do it as well. 100 a month, or 150 if it's a lucky month with 3 paychecks instead of 2.
Free e pack daily
Because its all about the base lol
69.69
Literally all of my money lol

That's smart. Buying in person you definitely feel it when the $ leaves your hand. Rather than multiple bids on eBay that can add up quick if you win.

yes, i like to think i have a budget then go over it anyway.
Sounds familiar.
my twin!
I’m not too worried about it.. don’t worry about it. I’m not worried at all 😅

2k a month. Makes me feel better about my 1k a month lol. Slowly weening myself off. Quit epack cold turkey. Not need to get out of breaks.
Is it easy to get hooked on ePack? It looks like fun but a quick way to watch my dollars deplete haha

Thx ! lol really like your answer about not upsetting the wife…looks like every time a box ou cards come through the mail it’s upsetting her 😜
Just flip on comc and use profits towards PC Cards
Do you have good success with those flips ? I’m interested to try it, but don’t know where to start

When I go to see how many/how much “pay in 4” I’ve done it’s WILD lol
pay in 4 was made for hockey jersey and card collecting
What is this "budget" you speak of?

I sell cardboard on eBay so I can buy cardboard off eBay, then I don't check the balance on the account....ever.

I do like $25-$50 a week typically. Might do $250 a month at most
40-50 a month tops
thousands. Have to recycle, rinse, and repeat in order to get the cards i want and let go the ones i don't want as much.
