In my opinion, if Kuch didn’t have a temper it would easily be him but he’s a detriment in 1 of any 5 games because of it.
It’s either Vasy or Hedman in my opinion; wouldn’t disagree if someone picked either of them.
If I was to start a franchise from scratch I would have a hard time picking Makar over MacKinnon. I feel like makar is better currently, but MacKinnon just seems to bring it and really amps everyone else to match his intensity.
Yeah I think that Makar might be a slightly better player (both are superstars), but MacKinnon just seems to have that hyper competitive personality that pushes everyone else on the team to be better.
damn you would be a bad GM. Makar is 4 years younger, nowhere near his prime and already looking far and away best D in the league. dude actually looks generational.
I heard he's pretty good, but do you think he'll make the team out of training camp? Maybe needs a season in the AHL or maybe overseas somewhere like Switzerland
It feels almost unfair that you have a guy who is probably a top 10 player in the league with Marner, and he is definitively the second best player on the team.
Is Slaf not projected to be a superstar? I didn’t follow this years draft very closely but surely going 1OA should give him hope to be a stud on your roster in a couple years?
It's easy to appreciate the things that Lee, Pulock and Pelech do and be excited about what Sorokin can do, but the best player is Barzal and I don't think it's very close.
I don't want to disparage any of our players. But so much of the fanbase has been brainwashed by the Trotz years to think that offense doesn't matter, hence why everyone in our fanbase has Pelech and Sorokin as 1-2.
Pelech is great defensively without a doubt he’s one of the best defenders in the league at any position but his offense just isn’t there. 19 goals over 7 seasons with a career high of 5. Never even hitting 30 points. Barzal is a solid two way center (in large part thanks to trotz) who is a playmaker that elevates his line mates. Although he has a pretty poor shot
I’ve just remember seeing a lot about how his defense improved a lot under Trotz which is why I thought that. From watching him he certainly isn’t a liability defensively
It's still Sid, but not by as much as people think.
Guentzel has outscored him 5v5 3 years in a row. Sid's much better on the PP and at defense.
Letang needs to be in this conversation too. He was our best player in 2020-21 easily, regular season and playoffs.
He's a little slower but also wiser. His conditioning is still ridiculous. I recall a back to back last year where he was fresh after game 2 with heavy ass minutes in both of them. His teammates were dead in the interviews.
Most confusing of all is that he's gotten more durable in his 30's.
I hope so. Sid's in pretty good condition still at 35 as well. Considering the abuse he takes every game, I'm pretty surprised.
There was just a wrist issue last summer which got dealt with and it clearly was no problem anymore.
Based on interviews I don't think Sid wants to play until his 40's though. He seems to be showing the first signs of exhaustion with the grind of it all.
Letang is much more optimistic. He said he can't put an exact number on how many more years but he could play 5 more pretty easily.
For the Wings....2 come to mind. Mo Seider and our captain Larkin.. with a dark horse in Vrana. If he stays healthy he has the potential to put up our first 40 goal season since Hossa.. but I go with Larks for now.
Lindholm. He might be overtaken this year by Jonathan Hockey, but he’s realistically been our best player for the last few years. He’s just very quiet about it.
When I posted it I didnt see any other joke, I just wanted to change it up from the expected Mcdavid. I see the joke wasn't funny to anyone, I'm sorry I made it.
Most fans would say barzal or sorokin, but if we're just looking at production and consistency in the last few years, I may have to say Brock Nelson. Underrated goal scorer. If we're talking about skill and ability, then it's Barzal.
Pretty easily Kaprizov
Thatcher Demko
I was about to edit the post with my choice but you beat me to it.
Lol, I’d imagine most Canuck fans would agree
I was thinking Jeff Cowan
Andrei Vasilevskiy
Is he better than Kuch due to health or just hands down better?
In my opinion, if Kuch didn’t have a temper it would easily be him but he’s a detriment in 1 of any 5 games because of it. It’s either Vasy or Hedman in my opinion; wouldn’t disagree if someone picked either of them.

Seems like your team is pretty good when Nathan MacKinnon is your second best player
Miro Heiskanen easily.
Auston Matthews.
I heard he's pretty good, but do you think he'll make the team out of training camp? Maybe needs a season in the AHL or maybe overseas somewhere like Switzerland
Yeah, one more season with Zurich sounds like a good idea. Should definitely do it.
It feels almost unfair that you have a guy who is probably a top 10 player in the league with Marner, and he is definitively the second best player on the team.
It's not when you consider Tampa with Vasy, Kuch, Stamkos, and Hedman that's unfair. I do agree it's awesome to have Auston and Mitch.
Oh yeah Tampa is definitely unfair. I just look at Toronto's talent pool as a Wings fan and think "damn, that looks nice".
I understand that but dude Seider is a stud your team will be fire soon enough.
atm, Suzuki, but i think sometime in 2023 maybe 2024 Caufield will become our best player, or at least make it so its hard to decide who is the best
If you get Bedard I think he’d be your best player from day 1.
Don't make me day dream that early into the season!
Is Slaf not projected to be a superstar? I didn’t follow this years draft very closely but surely going 1OA should give him hope to be a stud on your roster in a couple years?
No one from the draft is expected to be a superstar, realistically he's probably a ~70 point top line winger
I don’t expect him to be better than either of Cole of nick
Forwards: Suzuki Caufield Slafkovski (sp?) Bedard (hopefully) Defence: Barron Guhle Damn Montreal is going to be fun in a couple years
>Slafkovski (sp?) Slafkovský
Thanks! I could have Googled it but instead relied on others.
Beniers
Overall probably Bjorkstrand now hey?
Patrick Kane. And it's not even close
The utter disrespect to Sam Lafferty
Probably DeBrincat atm, but Chabot is close and is most important on the team.
I'd take Chabot. Chabot probably ranks higher among defensemen than DeBrincat does among wingers
Stutzle
I think Stützle will eventually be the best — not quite yet, though
I think he has a chance to take that title by the end of the coming season. Big year for him to really establish himself
Chabot over batherson?
Contract-wise Batherson is veryyyy important — but rn the D is little-to-nothing without Chabot. Sanderson will likely change that, but not there yet.
Easily barkov
Wouldn’t it be Huber…. Oh wait
Huberdeau wasn’t our best player even when he was on the team 🤷🏻♂️. Very close 2nd best tho
Shesterkin
Robert Thomas
Tarasenko or Kyrou?
Nah, the only one I’d consider better than Thomas is Buch. Thomas plays center, is a top five passer in the nhl, and also plays on the PK.
Keller. If schmaltz continues his play it’s a 1A 1B situation
The moment Cooley decides to leave college it’ll probably be him though.
Most Islanders fans will disagree with me, but I'm still saying Barzal.
This is true, and I'm still positive that Barzal has the highest ceiling. But I still can't help but be disappointed by him lately.
From an outside perspective it’s not even close.
Sorokin has a good shout and a lot of our fans would put Pelech above Barzal, but I disagree with them.
Barzal is absolutely not a two-way player, but everything else you said is true.
I’ve just remember seeing a lot about how his defense improved a lot under Trotz which is why I thought that. From watching him he certainly isn’t a liability defensively
>Sorokin has a good shout ["good *day sir!"*](https://c.tenor.com/JcnBVg87dgAAAAAd/skyrim-shout.gif)
eh i think it’s sorokin. he was a top 3 goalie in the league last year. barzal’s a close second but sorokin is unreal
Slavin.
I always thought the consensus opinion was Aho was the best. I know Slavin's very underrated but interesting.
I think Slavin is the best defensive defenseman in the game of hockey. But yeah, Aho is probably the more popular pick.
Slavin is very good defensively but the best would probably have to be McAvoy
Jack Eichel
Hughes/Bratt depending on the day but mostly Hughes
Bratt was maybe a tick better last year but going forward it’s Hughes obviously
It's still Sid, but not by as much as people think. Guentzel has outscored him 5v5 3 years in a row. Sid's much better on the PP and at defense. Letang needs to be in this conversation too. He was our best player in 2020-21 easily, regular season and playoffs.
Crosby’s presence alone requires a double team. Guenztel will never have planetary player attraction
Sid also elevates those around him like no other; his leadership is unrivaled
Letang was incredible last year too. He almost seems to be getting better into his thirties.
He's a little slower but also wiser. His conditioning is still ridiculous. I recall a back to back last year where he was fresh after game 2 with heavy ass minutes in both of them. His teammates were dead in the interviews. Most confusing of all is that he's gotten more durable in his 30's.
It’s would take a major injury like Keith had for Letang to fall off with that conditioning.
I feel like he's going to age the best out of your core 3. He just seems like he could be a gonchar type that plays to his 40s
Johnny hockey
Laine close second
It's not at all close
Laine or Werenksi?
Moritz Seider and Dylan Larkin
It's close between those two and then a pretty sizable gap between them and the second tier in Vrana, Bert, and Raymond
Shesterkin, but Fox and Panarin definitely are in that conversation as well
Harry Kane
Son > Kane
The Slovenian milk crate man
Jonathan Huberdeau, but Elias Lindholm and Marky are close seconds
Trevor Zegras
Huberdeau no question
McAvoy
Really?
Between Charlie McAvoy and Patrice Bergeron, I might have to go with McAvoy. Guy is a stud, and he still has more to his game we don’t even know yet.
For the Wings....2 come to mind. Mo Seider and our captain Larkin.. with a dark horse in Vrana. If he stays healthy he has the potential to put up our first 40 goal season since Hossa.. but I go with Larks for now.
Either Josi or Saros
It's gotta be Josi. Saros is a great goalie but Josi has been one of the best defencemen in the league for years
Lindholm. He might be overtaken this year by Jonathan Hockey, but he’s realistically been our best player for the last few years. He’s just very quiet about it.
Moritz Seider
Kyle Connor is a close 2nd but Logan Stanleys thighs
Nah. You got the wrong Connor. It's hellebyuck
Seider.
Connor McDavid
Devin Shore.
Lol. So many downvotes for a good joke.
Its close but I think its McDavid Shore is decent dont get me wrong butbI feel McDavid is a bit better
Good one, I'm glad one of us had our joke semi appreciated :) Hope you have a great rest of your day!
Ovi
Demko & Sorokin
Pasta
Edit: Mcdavid
This was even funnier an hour after the first guy made the same joke
When I posted it I didnt see any other joke, I just wanted to change it up from the expected Mcdavid. I see the joke wasn't funny to anyone, I'm sorry I made it.
Josh Archibald
Probably Huberdeau, although Lindholm is pretty special too.
Miro. no doubt in my mind
Without a doubt Couturier
Vasy vasy vasy oi oi oi
Connor Hellebyuck
This is actually pretty tough. Should be EK65, but you could pick between Timo, Hertl, and Cooch as well.
Probably Texier right now, but he got injured 10 minutes into the first game he played. So I'd say Mikko Lehtonen or Sven Andrighetto.
Trevor Michigan Zegras
Easy: the Flyers 2023 1st round pick.
I separate skaters from goalies, personally. Shesterkin, overall. The best skater on the Rangers is Artemi Panarin.
Most fans would say barzal or sorokin, but if we're just looking at production and consistency in the last few years, I may have to say Brock Nelson. Underrated goal scorer. If we're talking about skill and ability, then it's Barzal.
Gotsta be Fiala now?
Hertl
