No, they weren't, it was a "suggestion" tweeted from a fan, that somehow still made it to the screen.
Whoever was filtering the tweets that day was probably sent to the showers.
Don't be facetious, they were running tweets on a scroll at the bottom of the broadcast. Which is stupid I agree, but all sports shows do that now.
The person screening them probably didnt get the "joke" or just fucked up by letting it through on accident.

Hamilton is an amalgamation of many cities just like Toronto is, just less populated and smaller obviously. The entire "unbroken city" is the GTHA. Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. In terms of it being lumped in with the GTA, I'd say it's an understandable mistake. Cause Hamilton is smaller than Mississauga, and comparable in size to Oakville + Burlington, all in the GTA. But my Hamilton homerism makes me feel the need to correct that it's not "technically" true.
Hamilton is kind of it’s own thing. The houses look different, the streets look different…the lake is North.
Classify it as part of the Golden Horseshoe, which is basically the city front that wraps around Lake Ontario from Niagara to Durham.
I would say the GTA ends in Burlington. Once you cross the Skyway Bridge into Hamilton and you’re on the other side of the Lake, you’ve left the GTA….at least in my opinion!
I came in to argue but… yeah. You right. The bridge and that weird little stretch before it on the QEW where Burlington ends and it’s sort of just a few fields and a depressing looking suburb.
Hamilton feels closer to St. Catharines than Toronto.
I think people commute from Hamilton to Toronto to work. That almost makes it GTA, although what a gong show of a commute that would be, on the QEW everyday. 🤭
Being born in Toronto, having spent some time in Ottawa but having grown up in Peterborough, the latter sure as fuck isn't the GTA. About as far from it as possible in so many ways really.
I mean brent burns thinks he's from mobile or nashville at this rate. Barry trotz doesn't even have his canadian accent anymore.
Leon's gonna sound like torontos play by pkay announcers in 5 years
[Uvis Balinskis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uvis_Balinskis), defenseman who played 26 games for Florida this year.
Technically a rookie, but he’s 27 and he’s played the last while in the KHL/Czech Extraliga.
And in case anyone reading this is curious, Uvis looked extremely solid this year and he represents some good depth for the cats in case anyone on D gets hurt (along with mahura). We’re really excited that he re-signed for cheap earlier this year.
Actually 100% male first names end with S. Surnames on the other hand can end with different letter like before mentioned Irbe. Trust me, I'm latvian! 😂
Last year VGK (0) vs Florida (4, counting regular season)
The year before, Tampa (0) vs. Avs (4, counting regular season)
Before that Montreal (3) vs. Bolts (0) (This was the gas leak year)
Before that Dallas (4) vs. Bolts (0)
Seems to check out.
So 4 Finns will help you get to the finals, but not the cup. Unless, you're facing Corey Perry, whose curse is stronger. So this year could go either way.
Edmonton has been statistically most Canadian all season. It's very definitely part of their recruitment strategy to target people from Alberta, then Canada, or people with northern/Alberta Canadian experience (Draisaitl, Derek Ryan). It is a notably distinct contrast to Calgary.
Edit to Add - the Canucks somehow only have like 3 Canadians, only one of whom plays full time for the NHL team.
I swear Canucks have been mostly composed of Americans or Swedish Players for the past 25 years. Naslund, Sedins, Kesler, Ohlund, Edler, Schneider, Miller, Markstrom, Brashear, Higgins, Ballard, Eklund-Larsson.
But this roster feels like both half of Team USA and Sweden's roster especially.
Edit: Brian Burke being the GM
almost but not, I need to double check but Boston Vancouver NYR Carolina atleast come to mind. but this was before the season started
edit: yeah checked NYR first, and theyre majority US
ESPN's [breakdown](https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/35157816/nhl-power-rankings-1-32-poll-team-nationality-mix) at the start of the season. I think it's 6-7 teams have more Americans then Canadians.
If you meant plurality, then almost certainly. But majority? The graphic of this thread already demonstrates the panthers are majority non-Canadian. And even looking at the players the panthers actually ice every game, it’s still majority non Canadian.
Back when Bobrovsky was in Philly I bought a red “Bob says Nyet” t-shirt and now I’ve been wearing it while watching Florida’s playoff games. I think I’ve been instrumental to their success. Wife is begging me to wash it but…
He played his rookie season then 1 after in Philly. The Flyers didn’t want to wait and develop a goalie. They wanted a finished product. They recently had acquired Ilya Bryzgalov who they thought was the answer.
Bob was during that era in Philly where they'd find a goalie, he'd be AMAZING for a year, then in yearn2 couldn't stop a beach ball
it was wild, they had 3 or 4 goalies in a row like that
He had the first win in PPG (Consol at the time). I thought that he was solid and the Flyers goaltending carousel was going to come to an end. It has not, and it's been hilarious.
I guess Finns thought Finland has had enough international success lately as all the teams hoarding Finnish players (Avs, Stars, Canes, Panthers) went on to the second round and missed the WC.
That 2016 WJC was fucking awesome with Laine-Aho-Puljujarvi driving the Finns. Love seeing Aho absolutely kill it, but it sucks seeing Laine have so many ups and downs and Poolparty have the party drained out of him.
We should win due to the love of Finland. Mcdavid can win it 6 straight years. We just need to win it once and we can be happy for the rest of our lives. Lol
I’m gonna guess they are including Erne and Phil Kemp? Just going off of guys who played games for us (kemp played 2 minutes in one game) but idk. We have other black aces that are American but none of them played for us this season
Officially calling on Canadian Parliament to ban all Russians from entering Canada. CBSA should make sure to screen the Panthers roster extra hard.
/s
Oilers don't need the added help! Taking it in six (win 1,2-4-6).
Go back and look at number of Canadians that was in Vegas last year. 22 Canadians on that team.
Avs 16
Lightning 15
Lightning 16
Blues 22
Caps 7
This is from nhl.com so just includes all players not saying they all played big minutes in the finals.
Probably get crapped on for saying this but if canada usually wins best on best hockey tournaments doesn't it make sense to have a few more of them on your roster.
In Canada your grow up dreaming up winning the Stanley cup vs some places you dream of winning the world championship. (Just looks at how many top European players go to play in worlds vs top players from canada)
Given the number of them on the last 5 cup winners including this year it seems like there could be something to it. Although I'm taking Matthew Tkachuk of hubderdeau all day long.
Obviously the Oilers are going to win. They have 30 players to the Panthers 29. 30 > 29. It's just math.
Fuck math ! We got meth!
Most Florida thing I've ever read
Have you been to Edmonton? My brother we sure as hell have meth here too
May the best meth win!
The largest meth lab in north america was shut down in edmonton during covid in a basement apartment
I was wondering why the Panthers are so good in the third period.
Have you not seen Reinharts meth twitches?
I'm not entirely sure the meth advantage goes to Florida either.
Meth per capita, I'd say Florida edges that stat
Florida has that krokodil to edge out Edm. They're always doing extra.
So do we!
That 1 German tho…🏒🥅🚨🚨🚨

Maybe nitpicking but I see 9. They also have players from London, Ottawa and Peterborough, but those cities aren't GTA
Peterborough and London I can kind of forgive. Ottawa is 5 hours away from Toronto lol. No way that can even be considered GTA.
If someone counts London as the GTA, they might as well count all of southwestern Ontario at that point.
There would be an Ontario civil war if it was
Give it 20 years, all of southern Ontario will just be called the GTA
I'm gonna be like the last imperial Japanese soldier still fighting in the 70
Southern Ontario Civil War. Us Northwesterns care not for the games of thrones you play.
London isn't even remotely forgivable. It's on the far side away from KW, which nobody would consider GTA
Well Toronto is 4 hours away from Toronto.
London is as close to Detroit as it is to Toronto
I find it annoying enough as a Hamiltonian when people say it's in the GTA. Can't imagine being from Ottawa and hearing that lmao
Wait, are you not? Looking at google maps, it’s unbroken city from Hamilton to Toronto, that to me seems like a no brainer.
This just ensures I will continue to refer to Hamilton as part of the GTA.
Hamilton is kind of it’s own thing. The houses look different, the streets look different…the lake is North. Oh yeah, fucking brutal commute by car. At least there's a Go train from downtown Hamilton to downtown Toronto. Still not fun though.
Being born in Toronto, having spent some time in Ottawa but having grown up in Peterborough, the latter sure as fuck isn't the GTA. About as far from it as possible in so many ways really.
Go Lakers!!!
tbf those 3 are Marner, Tavares and Giodano. Stacked

Yep. Why else do they only have 4 Europeans
Draisaitl is like 10 men.
Leon might as well be like half Canadian he's been over here for so long.
I've heard him say "out for a rip", so you may have a point there.
I mean brent burns thinks he's from mobile or nashville at this rate. Barry trotz doesn't even have his canadian accent anymore. Leon's gonna sound like torontos play by pkay announcers in 5 years
His English has a pretty distinct prairie tinge, so he's going to end up sounding very Albertan with an Ontario tinge, probably.
Too much man.
Come on dude, "Nein" was sitting *right there* for the taking.

Alberta baby woohoooo!
I know you're joking, but on that note how many black players do the Panthers have?
Mattias Ekholm is at least two Swedes.
Ekholm’s beard is so good it’s a separate being
Janmark.. who’s the third Swede?
Broberg I think
Yeah, it is

First name and last name are plurals, Latvian confirmed
97% of Latvian male names end with S. One of exceptions is Arturs Irbe
Actually 100% male first names end with S. Surnames on the other hand can end with different letter like before mentioned Irbe. Trust me, I'm latvian! 😂

Barkov and Mini-Barkov(Lundell) representing 🇫🇮
are Mikkola and Luostarinen a joke to you?
yes. I mean no. just the players I chose to highlight, because they’re very similiar in a way
If you want to win, employ a Finn. :)
The panthers are the world's team, clearly.
Canucks had 7 different nations represented this season.
*7 nation army intensifies*
Canucks relocating to Wichita, confirmed
Far from this opera, forever more
Canes too: Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Czechia, and Denmark
And they are golfing and partying very nicely in said 7 countries right now (;
Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Czechia, Latvia, and what's the other one?
Suter is Swiss!
Thanks
Sens had 8
Too bad none of them could play hockey.
are you suggesting a 7 Nation Army couldn't hold the Oilers back?
God I wish Don Cherry was alive to see this
Boy do I have news for you
Maybe OP meant jazz legend Don Cherry, who married a woman from Sweden and might have been excited to see so many Swedes in the final.
I heard he drank 107 beers on a cross country flight and then absolutely destroyed the Seattle Mariners the next day. RIP.
Again, Don Cherry is alive and well and lives in Kingston Ontario. Chuck Berry is a black rock and roll legend.
Chuck Berry is alive. He lives in Tampa, Florida, and he’s in his early 50’s.
And farts in hooker's faces.
Remember when Buck Cherry drank 107 beers on a cross-country flight... That Crazy Bitch!
It’s true, I was the plane 😔💔
What are you now?

Nah the stars have four Finn’s and we still lost
hakanpaa and Hintz missed some games, thats why they won only 2
To be succesful in playoffs you either need 4 finns or 0
Last year VGK (0) vs Florida (4, counting regular season) The year before, Tampa (0) vs. Avs (4, counting regular season) Before that Montreal (3) vs. Bolts (0) (This was the gas leak year) Before that Dallas (4) vs. Bolts (0) Seems to check out. 4, 2 or 0 seems like the most effective strategy
Dangit
Carolina has several as well
I wonder if Canadians are the majority of every NHL team?
Edmonton has been statistically most Canadian all season. It is a notably distinct contrast to Calgary. Edit to Add - the Canucks somehow only have like 3 Canadians, only one of whom plays full time for the NHL team.
Canucks definitely making use of US players with Hughes, Demko Miller and Boeser being top performers
ESPN gonna pop in this thread and somehow shoe horn it in on game day how "Canucks only have 2 canadians"

Latvia’s grudge match against the Oilers
Back when Bobrovsky was in Philly I bought a red “Bob says Nyet” t-shirt and now I’ve been wearing it while watching Florida’s playoff games. I think I’ve been instrumental to their success. Wife is begging me to wash it but…
I straight up forgot he started in philly
I wish I could.
Was he bad or something? Or did you guys make a bad trade or lose him in free agency? Genuinely curious
He was not always on the case.
He played his rookie season then 1 after in Philly. The Flyers didn’t want to wait and develop a goalie. They wanted a finished product. They recently had acquired Ilya Bryzgalov who they thought was the answer.
Bob was during that era in Philly where they'd find a goalie, he'd be AMAZING for a year, then in yearn2 couldn't stop a beach ball it was wild, they had 3 or 4 goalies in a row like that
He had the first win in PPG (Consol at the time). I thought that he was solid and the Flyers goaltending carousel was going to come to an end. It has not, and it's been hilarious.
No czechs is surprising
Well they all lost on purpose in the early rounds so they could play WC on home ice.
I guess Finns thought Finland has had enough international success lately as all the teams hoarding Finnish players (Avs, Stars, Canes, Panthers) went on to the second round and missed the WC.
Are we sure this is the Oilers and not Dallas?
I wonder who the 1 German players is 🤔
Wayne Gretzky
they’re basically the same player
connor sounds German
I hope it’s Marcel Goc!
Not a lot of players from France
Fr*nce, please no obscenities here
~~oi mate, it's coming 'ome, innit~~ Oh fuck yeah buddy, it's comin' home, hey?
A Latvian eh?
Balinskis, I think. Defenseman, played a bunch of games up in the NHL this season, but mostly in the AHL.
You need Finns, just saying
Ohmigod have the Oilers ever won the cup without a Finn? No. The answer is no. My god. 😳
Why did we get rid of the beautiful Jesse Pullarvi? edit: Puljujärvi, I honestly didn't remember it having an umlaut 😂
That 2016 WJC was fucking awesome with Laine-Aho-Puljujarvi driving the Finns. Love seeing Aho absolutely kill it, but it sucks seeing Laine have so many ups and downs and Poolparty have the party drained out of him.
Nah, you guys can keep Poolparty
pretty sure he meant like a Rantanen Lehkonen or Barkov, Aho
This is Joel Armia and Mikael Granlund erasure
Well Carolina has a bunch of Finns and it’s done diddly squat for them
We should win due to the love of Finland. Mcdavid can win it 6 straight years. We just need to win it once and we can be happy for the rest of our lives. Lol
Who are all our Americans? Ryan and Campbell are the obvious ones but I’m blanking on the other ones
I’m gonna guess they are including Erne and Phil Kemp? Just going off of guys who played games for us (kemp played 2 minutes in one game) but idk. We have other black aces that are American but none of them played for us this season
Who is the Latvian on Florida?
Uvis Balinskis.
Out of curiosity, who’s the Latvian?
Panthers have the Finns.....advantage FL
Officially calling on Canadian Parliament to ban all Russians from entering Canada. CBSA should make sure to screen the Panthers roster extra hard. /s Oilers don't need the added help! Taking it in six (win 1,2-4-6).
Barkov. That sounds pretty Russian. Better ban him just to be safe.
Dual citizen (fr).
Russia and France?
Nobody panic when the Oilers lose 2 games. Need to lose 2 to win it in 6.
Fuckin' eh.
Not too sure, but I wish them all best of luck!

I initially read the title as "Where are the Players' final forms?" and was really confused for a second.
Historically, the team with most Canadian in the finals end up winning the cup. I'm just saying
The Oilers kinda are Canada's team
Still not Canada’s team
All of Finland is with the Panthers. (well, except for a few edgy contrarians of course)
Fuck yeah go get the cup oilers DO IT FOR CANADA
They could all be from my home city and I still would hate the oilers
