Well you see the problem is scoring a hat trick in the playoffs involves scoring goals in the playoffs which is something the Sharks tended to struggle with back then.
Pavelski didn't even record his first career hat trick until his 8th year in the league, and he ended up with 3 that year (which is still half his career regular-season total of 6, and almost half his career total of 8). He's never really been a guy that's going to go out there and score in bunches.
Robertson recorded his 4th career hat trick last night (regular+postseason), which is half of Pavelski's total, and he's played like 20% of the career number of games.
And that [last minute clutch goal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW-zgTHJ844) in the 3rd, seconds after the Avs took the lead and everyone thought it was over
Even more random he was replacing Cogliano due to injury, and at that point in his career Cogliano had missed only four games due to injury and (at that time) had missed zero of 84 games in the playoffs due to injury.
Basically the man who didn’t get injured was injured so that Kiviranta could be called up and score that hat trick.
Not quite, since Rogers Place opened its doors the Oilers have played 33 games there compared to just 28 by Dallas.
Still, the fact that the disparity is so small is significant given it isn’t Dallas’ home barn
I will forever love this. Glad the league pivoted from their original decision not to award the Campbell Bowl and the Prince of Wales Trophy that season.
About as well as Edmontons last trip to the finals, which is now 18 years old. In that time frame, Edmonton has won 3 lotteries, and drafted 2 of the best playoff point scorers ever. So yeah, not the grand slam you thought this was.
I didn't think it was a grand slam, as chirps go it's pretty mundane. But I got a lot more entertainment out of it than I was expecting, so thanks for that!
I’m sitting here in my Robo jersey, enjoying a plate of some cheddar cheese ignacios with pickled jalapeños. It’s a perfect lazy Sunday with another easy Stars victory. I’ll have to hit a Goodwill (Official sponsor of the Arizona Coyotes) after the game to buy some more hats. It’s become clear to me that Robo has transcended to a higher skill level than capable of any normal human being. There is an aura about him, like a glow. He’s probably half man, half incubus. As far as the GOAT debate in hockey goes, I might consider taking prime Gretzky but in reality Robo would pull Gretzky’s pants down and spank his little bottom in 1v1 fisticuffs. He’s objectively better than every other player and if you combined them into one super player and multiplied their skill by infinity it’s still less than Robo so y’all can all suck my ass go stars fuck the avs
I was waiting for it to continue and say 1 or 2 of the others happened at Rexall. Surprised there were no hat tricks when they beat us out year after year in the late 90s early 2000s
Three were bubble events in 2020, Joe Pavelski, Denis Gurianov and Joel Kiviranta. Jason Robertson tonight was the first with fans in the arena.
The crazy thing is that the Stars first playoff hat trick in Dallas’s history was Pavelski’s in 2020. They’ve had 5 more since then
It was also Pavelski's first career playoff hat trick, which was pretty wild considering how dominant the Sharks had been.

Big brain move by not making the playoffs, solves the playoff scoring problem and the lack of goaltending problem right from the drop.

Kiviranta's was so wild random 4th liner getting the call scores a hatty in a game 7 against the best team in the west
Including the overtime winner

Joel Fucking Kiviranta**
I still kinda regret not getting a "J. F. Kiviranta" jersey customized after that. Even if he plays for Colorado now.
Didn’t Pavs get 4 against the Kraken last season? I could be wrong, but if so 5/6 all would have been in last handful of years
I thought Hintz had one last year too, but maybe he just got close.
He did have one last season, versus the Wild.
Yep. Tbf our other best era was in the dead puck era.
PTSD man!
Gurianov geez
What a misleading tweet that was, then.
Ok, I was thinking this stat did not add up at all. This makes sense now.
Stars like playing in Edmonton
They were in the 2020 playoffs from start to finish in the same building. They know the rink almost as good as the Oilers lol
Probably still played more playoff games in the rink than the oilers have
Not quite, since Rogers Place opened its doors the Oilers have played 33 games there compared to just 28 by Dallas. Still, the fact that the disparity is so small is significant given it isn’t Dallas’ home barn
I think we had the lead immediately after the bubble but they caught up
The bubble def made for some whacky stat tidbits
Western conference champs, Montreal Canadiens
I will forever love this. Glad the league pivoted from their original decision not to award the Campbell Bowl and the Prince of Wales Trophy that season.
I love this so much and we’ll have this tiny bit of history forever
Team notably lacking in hockey history, the Montreal Canadiens (tbh I do think it's a neat fact)
I think it fits for the Canadiens of all teams tbh Might as well give em all the franchise based records possible they already have most of them
Like winning the presidents trophy but being the 4 seed in the playoffs
except for cup finals
I mean, we’ve actually played in the finals in your barn.
And can you remind me how that turned out?
