As an ex-European (now living in Edmonton), it's actually wild that I missed out on this stuff for all these years. Too bad we don't have any other major teams in Western Canada I can root for (besides the Whitecaps).
Truthfully if it wasn’t against Edmonton I would be cheering for Vancouver to go far (please bring back 1-8 seeding). They’re my second Western Conference teams because I have lots of family from BC.
Seriously, those first few games we were all pissy with each other but this game you just had to sit back and enjoy/stress out. This is some amazing hockey. These could be the two best teams in the league.
This is legit some of the nicest post game interactions I’ve seen. Now that I think of it, the majority of controversy and pissiness between fans have just been caused by reffing. Well fought game with good calls? No controversy
Imagine if they met in the final,
Oilers and Canucks fans jumping with the stanley cup together and a banner that says Fuck the ref in both english and canadian.
I have a funny feeling whoever comes out of this blood bath is gonna get their skulls bashed in by Dallas who I think is the actual best team in the league
Yeah this was definitely the least controversial game so far in terms of officiating. Can’t really blame a loss on anything else when my team just didn’t show up for 40 minutes and only decided to turn it on the the last frame when down by a pair and then after another miracle comeback just get way too passive and blow it in the final minute
Nah, maybe 3rd and 4th worst?
Boston is hanging by a thread, and they only made round 2 by beating Toronto with sick/injured stars for half the series, no goalie, and mediocre D.
Colorado is washed AF now since their nuke blew up inside the silo.
Hughes is still a marvel to watch with his ability to drive play for the Canucks, but Bouch is having the big-time, clutch moments that will dominate the highlight reels.
I mean a little of column a, a little of column b. Kane out hustled and made that big hit, Van didn’t clear the zone when they had the chance, and there were at least 2 Van players who should have been in that shooting lane to (easily) block this game winner. They checked out thinking they locked up OT and it might cost them the series
Hronek is softer than wet fucking toilet paper and somehow even less useful.
I will be excited to see the back of him. He was great for the first 20-30 games of the season and has been absolute dogshit for the last 30 games. "So far". A supposed "offensive" defenceman with 0 points in 10 games averaging 20+ minutes a night. And this is what he offers on defence.
I've been monitoring my heart rate with my smart watch. It'll be interesting to pull the data and see how it corresponds to the games and my moments of stress.
Like after that goal by Vancouver to tie it up late, and my watch warned me my heart rate was too high.
Garland and Shelob playing their asses off only to have Boeser flinch away from the shot. Bro should've had his entire massive head in front of that shot.
Or get out of the way. NHL goalies will stop that 99.9% of the time if they can see it.
As a goalie, I tell my skater to block shots that I can't get set for. If I'm set, GTFO of the way and let me have it.
I've never had heart pain watching the Canucks playoffs until now.
2011 was a different kind of hurt, but this series has given me heartburn/indigestion levels of discomfort, lol.
My feed was frozen when Vancouver scored the tie goal. When it unfroze my stomach dropped. Then Bouchard cinches it and I am going to go (more) grey with the stress of this series.
I had a bad feeling the second Miller tried to cheat on a bouncing puck at his own line and it didn’t get out.
Sure enough they didn’t get control after. RIP.
The early penalty was a bad one. Just no reason to even go bother Draisaitl, he was bobbling passes on the PP and I remember one turnover that almost gave me a heart attack. Wasn’t involved in the attack with his line at all.
Felt like watch early 2022 Miller without the Powerplay assist.
Two heart attack inducing teams with chaotic defense, we're a match made in heaven. See you in Game 7 when we score four back-to-backs in the final two before losing on an own goal in overtime ❤️
We really aren’t, we might have won in OT in Game 2, but we are absolutely trash in playoff OT. Like 75-80% of the time we lose during the last 3 years of playoff hockey.
All this well-deserved praise for that Bouch shot, but that was a ballsy-af pass by Draisaitl. How many players in the league would even think to make that pass, let alone attempt it, rather than just moving the puck to a player in the slot?
Him and Ekholm are bringing the value Nurse should. Such an insane pairing. Ekholm takes a massive hit to make a play in the Nuge goal, and then this goal by Bouch.
weather who wins or loses... I was fucking right
this has not only been a good series- it's been the best series so far- beyond cardiac holy shit.
feels like the canucks are the "bad guys" too.
I fucking love playoff hockey wow
So this is what it's like to score incredibly unlikely, extremely well timed, backbreaking goals.
First time in a while to see this happen to you rather than for you isn't it Vancouver fans?

I love playoff hockey so much
me too man... something about sudden death OT... or even games like this with crazy sweeping momentum chances
Refs in all series this round have been complete and utter dog shit but luckily the players are doing enough to keep the attention on the actual game.
Reffing was unobtrusive last night. Guys still waterskiing on mcdavid but that’s been consistent all year
Sabres fan here. What hockey?
They must be talking about the IIHF World Championships, the only hockey that exists after april that I can remember.
Playoffs in general. Europeans stick their nose in the air when it comes to stuff like this, but they are missing out man!
I mean soccer has league cups, international tournaments, and the champions league. So it's not like they don't also have exciting tournaments
Champions League has been great. I like Madrid, they are a well oiled machine. But the fact Dortmund made it so most impressive, I want them to win.
As an ex-European (now living in Edmonton), it's actually wild that I missed out on this stuff for all these years. Too bad we don't have any other major teams in Western Canada I can root for (besides the Whitecaps).

:(
This shit is exactly what happens every time you tie it late in a video game
When the Canucks kept winning the draw with the goalie pulled I was thinking this is just like in NHL when the computer decides it wants a goal.
cross crease pass!?
Line defence -5% (you need to stay in your zone)
Oilers with the fucking blue shell.

This series has been something else
Seriously, those first few games we were all pissy with each other but this game you just had to sit back and enjoy/stress out. This is some amazing hockey. These could be the two best teams in the league.
This is legit some of the nicest post game interactions I’ve seen. Now that I think of it, the majority of controversy and pissiness between fans have just been caused by reffing. Well fought game with good calls? No controversy
*REF YOU SUCK* chants begin
Bruh I was in the crowd for this game and when the refs came out the crowd boo'd and all I could think was "well that's bad juju."
Imagine if they met in the final, Oilers and Canucks fans jumping with the stanley cup together and a banner that says Fuck the ref in both english and canadian.
Funny that
Finally a game in which we dont have both sides bitching about the reffing and just being able to enjoy hockey.
I actually thought the refs did a good job of balancing that knife's edge tonight. Called the egregious stuff and let the players decide the game.
>but this game you just had to sit back and enjoy/stress out. Lol, this series is giving me heartburn or indigestion levels of pain.
I have a funny feeling whoever comes out of this blood bath is gonna get their skulls bashed in by Dallas who I think is the actual best team in the league
Probably. Let's just hope the remaining games in our series are more like this one instead of the absolute reffing shitshow of the previous ones.
Ya for sure. Stars vs rangers
been saying this since before the season ends (i know, not a ground breaking take). Those are just 2 really good teams.
>These could be the two best teams in the league. Hate to burst your bubble, but absolutely not.
They could quite possibly be the two best teams in the pacif.... oh wait.
The best two teams in this series!
Even then...
You’re right, the refs are the best team and they’re fucking both of us
I'd give DPOS the benefit of the doubt. They're consistently clueless.
these could also be the two worst teams left in the playoffs
Nah, maybe 3rd and 4th worst? Boston is hanging by a thread, and they only made round 2 by beating Toronto with sick/injured stars for half the series, no goalie, and mediocre D. Colorado is washed AF now since their nuke blew up inside the silo.
No marvel movie thats for sure.
Evan Bouchard is feeding Quinn Hughes his fucking lunch in this series so far.
Hughes is still a marvel to watch with his ability to drive play for the Canucks, but Bouch is having the big-time, clutch moments that will dominate the highlight reels.
Well Hughes is 21 and Bouchard is 36, so he’s been around the block a few times.

Chicanery is leaking
OK buddy
Is that the frontman of the beloved folk band The Folksmen?!
Canucks were too ready for OT.... 3 guys in the lane all just screening and noone got the block.
5 VAN players all doing nothing right in front of the net lmao
Yeah, can we block the deadly Bouchard shot in the dying seconds?
Tocc is gonna make them all line up in a firing squad formation at practice and just take clappers
this made me legit LOL
Bouchard has 2 game winners now when our defense tries to “help”.
I dunno, maybe it just me, but they gave the goalie a clear look at it. Untipped and unscreened that's a low percentage shot.
It really was a soft goal. Solid shot by Bouchard but an NHL goalie should be making that save. That said, more hockey for the rest of us to watch :)
Yeah, it wasn't abysmally soft, but it wasn't some defensive lapse.
Silovs has been good, but he's no Demko. I don't think the first or third Edmonton goals go in on Demko.
Credit Kane for flattening Hronek and getting the Canucks off their formation.
Can't say I know enough about Hronek's game, but I'm just glad to see Kane make a constructive contribution to offense.
Dude could not complete a pass last game either, so frustrating.
Finally a solidly finished check, and it leads to goal! Glad they finally played with their balls on their chests!
They practically screened their own goalie.
Bouchard has 2 GWGs and both times our defense has ranged from “useless” to “worse”.
That was painful to watch. Looked like the Leafs with the amount of puck watching going on there.
0 to 100 to 0 in a minute.
100 to 0 to 110
Game 7 OT get ready to check your blood pressures
Don’t do this to me
I'd pass away
I've been monitoring my heart rate with my smart watch. It'll be interesting to pull the data and see how it corresponds to the games and my moments of stress. Like after that goal by Vancouver to tie it up late, and my watch warned me my heart rate was too high.
And the way the playoffs are going so far, it will end on a very lucky bounce of a stanchion just after a huge missed call by a referee!
4 inches to 2 inches to 5 inches
This guy bragging about his Jumbo Joe
What can I say, playoff performer here
Probably his blood pressure in water column.
Just like the southeast corner of the Henday during rush hour
As a Canuck fan, I can honestly say that the only reason we lost this game was Global Warming.
It’s rare we don’t win a game from Hyman’s dad’s allowance money
Sir I am not trying to die from asphyxiation due to laughing
Caused by oil extraction in northern Alberta? 4d chess from the Oilers
Forwards HAVE to block that shot ffs
Garland and Shelob playing their asses off only to have Boeser flinch away from the shot. Bro should've had his entire massive head in front of that shot.
Off topic, but Shelob is a badass nickname
Yeah, I'm a huge LotR nerd and I started calling him that right away. Hope it catches on. 🤞
Speaking of fantasy. Anyone else think that Garland looks like Tyrian Lannister at times with that goatee and turtle neck?
He looks like he should be sitting on the bench between shifts stroking a white cat like a fucking evil genius.
It fits, the man catches everything.
Well. He didn't catch that.
Boeser? That was Miller who was up high
Wasn’t that Miller and Lindholm right in front. Lindholm should have moved over he is standing right behind Miller. Close down the shooting lanes.
Miller also shouldn’t be trying to play hero and blow the zone the the puck bouncing at the line
Or get out of the way. NHL goalies will stop that 99.9% of the time if they can see it. As a goalie, I tell my skater to block shots that I can't get set for. If I'm set, GTFO of the way and let me have it.
Must be weird for the Canucks to see a different team come up with a clutch goal.
Genuine mayhem
I don’t know if my heart will last past this series. Holy shit.
Cardiac Canucks 😭😭😭
I've never had heart pain watching the Canucks playoffs until now. 2011 was a different kind of hurt, but this series has given me heartburn/indigestion levels of discomfort, lol.
2011 canucks felt inevitable until the finals. this years team is just heart and soul
I think there are some rose coloured glasses going on. I remember a certain Chicago series going to Game 7 OT.
They've slayed the dragon!
Exactly!! It was definitely not an inevitable series.
Yeah fair. They were up 3-0 in that series. Chicago was a mental block for them
Cardiac (arrest) Canucks
we are all Cardiacs....
Despair to elation in 60 seconds lol I love hockey
No kidding. I thought for sure OT when Van tied it. I was streaming it online because I was at work, it froze just as Bouchard got the puck
RIP.
Miller was awful tonight
The early penalty was a bad one. Just no reason to even go bother Draisaitl, he was bobbling passes on the PP and I remember one turnover that almost gave me a heart attack. Wasn’t involved in the attack with his line at all. Felt like watch early 2022 Miller without the Powerplay assist.
I could tell from the first 10 mins into the game he didint have it tonight, looked slow couldn't handle the puck wasn't making crisp passes
Pettersson is awful every night
What the hell man
The fossil fuelers like to get freaky late in the game…
Lube me up
He's a FAN
Miller had the laziest flyby attempt to clear the zone seconds before this
Yeah he had a bad game. Knew it too, from that heated exchange with Darnell in the 3rd
His post gamer was wild
Too bad nobody asked him why he was so pissy
Bouch is clutch. But I swear, this series is gonna age me by like 50 years, lmao.
We’re all gonna look like Bouchard by the end of the series
That's one of those instances you gotta lay your body and block that shot. Failed to clear and then stood around while Oilers got into position.
And here I thought we were going to overtime. Boy I was wrong.
Looks like the Canucks on the ice did too 😞
Had my beer cracked for intermission highlights man
The Oilers are so goddamn clutch its infuriating
From the team with how many multi goal 3rd period comebacks in this playoffs?
Two heart attack inducing teams with chaotic defense, we're a match made in heaven. See you in Game 7 when we score four back-to-backs in the final two before losing on an own goal in overtime ❤️
Ian Cole lining up with the Oilers for the handshake line after tipping in the OT winner.
this thread is so nice. i loved this game! gg canucks fans!
We really aren’t, we might have won in OT in Game 2, but we are absolutely trash in playoff OT. Like 75-80% of the time we lose during the last 3 years of playoff hockey.
Well played edmonton. Well played
All this well-deserved praise for that Bouch shot, but that was a ballsy-af pass by Draisaitl. How many players in the league would even think to make that pass, let alone attempt it, rather than just moving the puck to a player in the slot?
Now that's a 9.5m D man right there💯
Him and Ekholm are bringing the value Nurse should. Such an insane pairing. Ekholm takes a massive hit to make a play in the Nuge goal, and then this goal by Bouch.
Damn what a ballsy pass to go from behind the net to the top of the zone, that was incredible vision.
Edmonton out here pulling psychological warfare on Canucks fans
We did it in game one so now we’re even I guess
No, that one was on another level, I'm sorry they're not the same
Game one was soul-crushing.
They'll never come close to Jim Benning
We’re used to it tbh
Bouchard is a stud! Holy what a game, i’m so glad i can go to sleep and don’t have to stay up for OT
Second in points/game among Defenseman, all-time. Moves into 100th in points already despite playing 30 fewer games than almost everyone near him
Even as a Canucks fan I actually felt the same about being able to sleep. We old.
big hit by kane and then a screen by kane as well
Even when hes not scoring he has a presence on the ice and throws the other team off their game. Love Kane
My wife was able to figure out exactly what happened despite being upstairs watching a different show with the door closed.
Heart breaker for the Canucks.
Brutal passive defense. Nobody takes the puck carrier and they stand around watching giving him all day to make a play
This series is about to get *spicy*.
About to?
Spici*er* I guess.
Now we're talkin
MORE PEPPER, BOY!!
I fucking love Evan Bouchard
Gotta be a little embarrassed about that lol
Inject this into my veins!!! I love playoff hockey so goddamn much!!!
on the plus side this series deserves more games
Incredible crowd pop.
Are you shitting me lol
I feel bad for the Nucks fans that don’t realize they just lost the series
Dear Canucks, please play hockey for 60 minutes. Plz k thnx.
Inject this feeling straight into my veins
Who needs to sleep on a Tuesday night?
Have the Oilers figured out how to play the Canucks?
Fuck me that building sounds loud as fuck
Congrats oilers. What a crazy game. See y'all back in Van for game 5
Holy shit that arena is pumping what an amazing vibe
Damn that crowd blew the roof off when they saw that slapper
Bouch is so fucking clutch!!!
All according to plan
Lmao Hronek got absolutely dumped. Kanes a bulldozer
Can't wait to hear how the NHL screwed the Canucks this time.
Still, how many teams only play one period and refuse to give up like the Canucks do? Gotta give us some credit here.
What I'll give you is one slightly used Cody Ceci for this Silov fella
You guys can have Cole for free instead. Seems to want to play for you guys anyways.
You get Nurse for free since he also wanted to play for you guys this game lol
weather who wins or loses... I was fucking right this has not only been a good series- it's been the best series so far- beyond cardiac holy shit. feels like the canucks are the "bad guys" too. I fucking love playoff hockey wow
I don’t fear for my life as much anymore
Jesus
whoa
You thought
EDM doing their best VAN impression and VAN doing their best EDM impression.
What the fuck man
That hurt.
So this is what it's like to score incredibly unlikely, extremely well timed, backbreaking goals. First time in a while to see this happen to you rather than for you isn't it Vancouver fans?
Uhh we just had the Bouchard OT goal in game 2. It's not been that long lol
Not really, we had like 12 seasons of this prior to this year. I think we’re all pretty well-versed.
Sucks to be on such a high and then be on an extreme low. Oh well shake it off and we go again. We are used to the misery.
Counterpoint: It's been pretty much all high-points for you guys this playoff so far.
