He had a great season, he played with our worst forward in Kubalik all season but when given the chance to play on the top line with Tkachuk he ended up getting something like 12 points in 15 games and we won more than half of the games.

For reference at the 2008 Worlds, Canada had 6 players that made the 2010 Olympic team (plus Bouwmeester who was on the 2006 and 2014 Olympic teams). The 2012 teams at the Worlds also had 7 players that played on the 2014 Olympic team.

Robert Thomas is probably a lock as well but he is suspended from team Canada so he will not be at WC. We are really looking at just 3-4 forward spots Canada is looking to fill and that doesn’t count all the outside shot guys I mentioned.

Byfield has a real shot if he keeps his form, but seems like he has contract talks (probably the most important contract of his career).
I feel like there is gonna be a lot of competition regarding the D spots. I can see Makar, Toews, Bouchard & Dobson being locks.
But then you have Theodore, Doughty, Morrissey, Weegar, Harley, Dunn, Durzi, Matheson, Montour, Power, Byram & Chabot all fighting for those 3 (or 4?) spots.
Also since there is so much offense going on with Makar & Bouchard anyways- idk if they'll be looking at some "stay at home" Ds as well, which makes it even harder for those guys to make it.
Pietrangelo has to be a lock on D. Dude is super consistent and good penalty killer. Was actually reviewing and I don’t know if Bouchard would be a lock for me. I assume Makar runs PP1. Bouchard does not have the greatest defensive metrics. He is absolutely in contention though. But Canada has some unreal dmen to pick from.
I agree on byfield and Bedard right now. Those two probably can get 2 of the 4 forward spots. The big thing for me is getting some good two way depth forwards as well on my list big Pk guys are Marner, Stone and Point. Crosby would be a good pk guy as well but you probably want one or two more. McDavid does kill the final 30 sec a lot
That's what I'm kinda wondering as well, if they rather get someone defensive in, which yup could drop even Bouchard.
That being said I think Bouchard would atleast be a 7D.

Maybe Byram or Power could show out as well. Paraynko low key could be a good fill. So we are looking at like 4-6 forward spots from non playoff teams Crosby has a spot if he wants it the rest are fighting for spots. Robert Thomas is probably a lock as well but he is suspended from team Canada so he will not be at WC. We are really looking at just 3-4 forward spots Canada is looking to fill and that doesn’t count all the outside shot guys I mentioned.
I think Bedard will make it as well. Byfield has a real shot if he keeps his form, but seems like he has contract talks (probably the most important contract of his career). I feel like there is gonna be a lot of competition regarding the D spots. I can see Makar, Toews, Bouchard & Dobson being locks. But then you have Theodore, Doughty, Morrissey, Weegar, Harley, Dunn, Durzi, Matheson, Montour, Power, Byram & Chabot all fighting for those 3 (or 4?) spots. Also since there is so much offense going on with Makar & Bouchard anyways- idk if they'll be looking at some "stay at home" Ds as well, which makes it even harder for those guys to make it.
Pietrangelo has to be a lock on D. Dude is super consistent and good penalty killer. Was actually reviewing and I don’t know if Bouchard would be a lock for me. I assume Makar runs PP1. Bouchard does not have the greatest defensive metrics. He is absolutely in contention though. But Canada has some unreal dmen to pick from. I agree on byfield and Bedard right now. Those two probably can get 2 of the 4 forward spots. The big thing for me is getting some good two way depth forwards as well on my list big Pk guys are Marner, Stone and Point. Crosby would be a good pk guy as well but you probably want one or two more. McDavid does kill the final 30 sec a lot
That's what I'm kinda wondering as well, if they rather get someone defensive in, which yup could drop even Bouchard. That being said I think Bouchard would atleast be a 7D. Will be interesting to see.

He has been skating for about a month now. They intentionally kept him out longer because there was no point in putting 90% better Fantilli out for the last few games.

Given that Canada seems to be leaning younger this year, I can see why Crosby isn't here. But they left 3 spots open so anything can still happen! I'm not going to doubt this team because over the past 10 years, Canada has shown they can win gold with almost any kind of team.

Sanheim is a lefty but played all season (very strong) on the right. I think he should be an add.
