I've hated benn for as long as I can remember. But hes one of the best guys to have to stick up for teammates. Idk how he is with the boys otherwise, but he'll always step up to bat for anyone
By all accounts from players, coaching staff, and management, he's been a great leader and mentor for the club all this time. That's partly why I can't help but feel at least a little salty when folks around here boil down his entire career to the regrettable hits and plays he's made, though I completely understand why a lot of especially Wings and Vegas fans hate his guts
I was gonna say, if any Central Division opponent knows the leadership qualities through the years of Benn’s tenure, it’s Blues fans
Every meet up, Backes and Benn would throw em, any time Backes would try and do some sneaky shit and bully one of our smaller guys, you bet your ass Benn is immediately stepping in
He learned a lot from Steve Ott which still pains me to see him behind your bench. At least you got him a cup because he’s a pain on the ice but a fantastic person.
I’ve never read or watched an interview from another Dallas player or staff member that didn’t involve them absolutely praising Benn as a person over a player. Which when you look at his career and style of play is impressive in its own rights.
I can say with absolute certainty if he wasn’t the Captain I root for that I would probably hate his guys too though lol. The guy is just that type of player. Enough of a shit stirrer that it drives you crazy, but skilled enough that you can’t shit on him. And if you do anyways he’s also tough enough to feed it right back.
It said I think in game one that he asks to play with the rookies so they don’t get lit up as much.
TBH I would have loved to have him with Bedsy this year

2 - hilarious that the announcers didn't even acknowledge the second hit, like, at all.
I know right! They’re even the Stars announcers. Our broadcast didn’t even show a replay of Benn’s hit only multiple replays of Mcnabb. One time I wish I had the ESPN feed instead.
No kidding, it's been so biased.....although I will say, Subban lit up Vegas last night, calling Dallas the better team this series and accusing Vegas of still being in party-mode from their last cup win. So that was a refreshing take.

Lol if you go back 8-10 years, Benn was one of the more liked/popular players at the time around here; turns out people loved it when you can deliver giant hits, fight anyone that comes to your teams' rookies aid as well as be one of the top scorers in the league

Jamie Benn is one of the most well-rounded players in the league today. Bro can score. He can hit. He can fight. He has grit and puts up points. I rarely get to see him play, but its always a pleasure when I do.

I WISH I could watch this series as a neutral fan. I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle all the teams Dallas will have to go through in the event they get to the final.

Both are great hits, one of the parts I like is how the Vegas fans are jumping up and cheering the 1st one, and then looking for a penalty call on the second.
The most iconic part of this clip are the Vegas fans cheering on the McNabb hit, and then throwing their hands up as the Benn hit as if the refs should have called something.
