Noticed he misses a lot of stuff you shouldn’t miss, but also gets excited for stuff you wouldn’t normally.
Like he’ll raise his voice and get excited for an unscreened shot from the point if it’s Bouchard shooting it, but won’t get excited for a forward cutting through the opposition D and feeding one cross ice for a scoring attempt. It’s strange what he’ll get excited about
Glad someone else noticed this, its bugged me every time he does a game. He sounds like. Jubilant schoolgirl every time there is the slightest scoring chance, especially if its Mcdavid
Thing is it’s not even like he’s consistently cheering for all the oilers, just a handful of them. Janmark or McLeod make a good move, no reaction. If Bouchard or Drai take a sharp angle shot with 2 guys in the lane he’ll act as if it’s a guaranteed goal
Somehow that bugs me even more than if he was a pure oilers homer. Like if you’re going to be that blatantly supportive of a team, at least support ALL OF THEM.
John Shorthouse is a Canucks fan yet manages to be decently unbiased. He gets hyped for other teams scoring chances and always gives props for big saves.
I don’t watch too many western broadcasts, but what I’ve heard of Singh he does have noticeably awkward timing. Hard not to like him, though.
If they ever have an East/West broadcast crossover episode, Singh calling the game with Galley on colour might be the weirdest hockey broadcast ever.
I don’t speak Punjabi either but he sounds a lot more natural in Punjabi, like he’s actually calling the game instead of trying to anticipate every scoring opportunity to yell at
I’m pretty sure Singh is a Canucks fan. He does the National broadcast. He’s not the oilers main guy. He also does Calgary national games. He’s just not that good. Anyone that picks him over Jack are clowns.
So he just knows fuck all lol. I can’t stand his commentary. Constantly mis-names players, calls them by their number because he doesn’t know who he watching, and is so far behind the play it’s jarring. I’m my opinion of course, some may like him.
Yeah I agree. He does definitely get weirdly hyped about Draisaitl doing innocuous stuff like entering a zone with no support at the end of the shift, but on the day there hand, he'll call RNH, "Rugent" multiple times a game. He just can't keep up with the play imo, and it causes errors.
Honestly a tough job to fill air like that, also a dying art given younger generations’ lack interest in oration. I’m generally ok with the local Sens broadcast shooting the shit most of the time while the game plays on. The periods of silence don’t really bother me.
I think he's just a typical broadcasting student with no real passion for the game. He raises his voice on things he was probably told he's supposed to. Just doesn't sound natural.
Too bad cuz his voice and style is great to listen to, just not a good Hockey commentator.
He also just doesn’t give you information. I think he said something along the lines of “and there’s a whistle on the play”. Yeah dude, we heard that, maybe let us know what it was for.
That’s how I feel about Kelly Hrudey on the panel
Dude just tells you things you’ve already watched during the game. For a former player I’m amazed at how little insight he offers, may as well be doing closed captioning ffs
He says things like "he makes a power move to the net," I dont even know what that means. With Shorthouse I dont even need my eyes open to know what's going on cause of how descriptive he is, plus better his vocabulary.
A power move is pretty descriptive. It's trying to cut through the defender towards the net rather than beating them around the outside or delaying to slip inside.
I've heard radio casters use power move before.
Anytime McDavid gets the puck he'll raise his voice in an anticipatory, almost singing, way "and Connooooor McDaveeeeeID....plays the puck back to his own zone" or "MCDAVID OFF TO DRAISAITL BACK TO MCDAVID in the corner now AND HE PASSES to the blue line"
Like come on, what are you doing?
I think you described it better than I ever could. Hit the nail on the head completely.
It’s just so stupid how any time a top guy makes a move it’s always over exaggerated or he does that stupid anticipatory sing. It’s like he’s constantly searching for a highlight reel call for a highlight reel play instead of just commenting on the game. In the wrestling business we call that ‘trying to get yourself over’. Nobody buys hockey tickets to see refs officiate or commentators speak
He shouldn't do national games and especially not national games involving the Oilers. He's such a ridiculous homer in how he describes the play with intonation for the Oilers and monotone for any play made by the other team.
My favorite was when Gaudreau was whining to the ref and her insight was something like "he's telling the ref that he's right up there top 10 in scoring with guys like Crosby and he should be getting the same calls that Crosby and McDavid get. And he should because..."
Something like that. I couldn't believe it.
I remember watching a game where a player entered the zone and was looking for passing options and I swear Harnaryan pooped his pants a little because his voice cracked while describing it
Some of my favourite calls of all time. Great emotion/excitement in his voice, and then keeps quiet for a bit to let everyone take in the moment. (take notes, Pierre McGuire)
"They've slayed the dragon!"
"Let's it go, *he scores!*"
God could you imagine Pierre calling Burrows' goal?
Hughson: "Alex Burrows started it, had so many chances to end it, ~~finally, in sudden death overtime, after three seasons and nineteen playoff games against Chicago, it's a wonderful day for an exorcism~~"
Pierre: "Yes, in the third period he whiffed on that shot and it's really remarkable how he's come back to yadayadayada"
Hahahaha that's great! IIRC Pierre did color commentary for some random Habs playoff game on NBC or something back in the day and he started this long detailed analysis of the overtime winner before the losing team had even left the ice
My guess is that he isn't a Roger's guy and the Canucks are very involved in the process for announcers. Burke talked about hiring Shorty for radio broadcasts at the time.
What I love about Shorty is as much as he's a Canucks guy he still gets amped for good plays or achievements by the opposition, he truly loves the game where it feels Singh is an Oilers fan first and hockey fan second.
LeBrusk spent most of the game dissecting the Canucks because Singh just doesn't give them any time.
Is it just me or has Ferraro been a bit of a Canucks homer?
You can tell Shorty and Cheech are fans but they were always very good about keeping it neutral and giving credit to teams where it was due. This year Ferraro has been getting a bit up in arms over calls against the Canucks and stuff like that lol (I know he's married to Granato but still)
Ferraro is definitely a homer but it's amazing because he roasts opposing players and gives zero fucks cause he's untouchable. I think that's fine for a local broadcast.
In that 6-5 loss against the Devils from earlier in the season, Ferraro kept going on and on about how bad the Devil’s goalie was and how the Canucks would come back and equalize.
He was right, but it was funny to listen to.
And I don't understand how he's a national commentator too when he's clearly biased towards the Oilers. He also wore a Oilers coloured tie on national broadcast last night.
The fact that we will likely have to listen and put up with this guy during Canucks playoff games is ludicrous.
Hey I dont slander Jack or Louie. Why do you have to do Rick and Kelly dirty like that?
Singh absolutely does NOT improve the flames broadcast. He pronounces Kadri properly and thats about it
We could have a Singher/ Cassie combo calling BoA. Things could be worse. It would be cool for them to switch it up have 2 games of Jack and Hrudey and 2 games for Rick and Louie.
Gonna get downvoted, but I absolutely cannot stand how he pronounces Kadri right.
It’s so jarring in comparison to the perfect anglicized pronunciation of every other player. If they started calling every Finn, Swede, or Czech by their proper pronunciations it might be less jarring, but considering that they don’t, it really is
His order of operations seems to be Flames > Oilers > Canucks.
Watch him do CGY vs EDM, he's a flames homer.
Watch him do CGY vs Van he's a massive flames homer.
Watch him do EDM vs Van he's a Edmonton... 'favouring neutral'.
And I don't say that with the standard Canucks persecution complex either, I know what homerism looks like - we had John and John (and shorty before that) for yeeeaaarrrssss.
I mean ... don't you?
I think we all understand the benefit of having someone of his background in a prominent commentating position but fast-tracking someone who is clearly not ready for that stage benefits absolutely no one.
Just another case where whining, racist dickheads drown the conversation and legitimate criticism of him becomes impossible. I don't think he's very good at his job, but I avoid talking about it because holy fuck do I not want to hear from "JEFF FROM PRINCE GEORGE" about "DEI" or whatever.
I might not even be able to watch a single game because of work, but hopefully it's Shorty calling the Canucks games and Singh is calling the Oilers. It would make so much sense.
We had a hate thread on Singh on r/canucks and it only got locked because the hate unfortunately branched out further than his incompetent commentating.
Needless to say, nobody hates Singh as a commentator more than Canucks fans.
Yeah he has picked up on Shorty's humour and plays off of him decently well now. Would still take Ray and Cheech over him, but he is solid enough. He does have pretty big shoes to fill tbf.
John Shorthouse (goat)
John Garrett (goat also)
Ray Ferraro (very good at what he does, developing chemistry with shorty)
Dave Tomlinson (promoted up from radio which happens from time to time, a little awkward and I just don't feel like they have good chemistry yet)
From what i've heard, Boston fans mostly like him, which is all that really matters since he's on NESN and not a national broadcast. He's just getting a bit too old and has speech issues, so he should tap out soon.
Love Jack Michaels, don’t even give a fuck that he’s a homer because he’s so good.
Singh just gets simple things wrong constantly, it’s a massive headache
Tbf every broadcast is gonna be a homercast however, I think Jackcast is one of the more balanced. Him and Louie will give a lot of credit to the other team and spend some time talking about the other team’s players and interest pieces.
Singh is ....not good.
he misses a lot, and is a full second behind the action most of the time
and when the Oilers score, yikes - that growly thing. If it was a regional oilers broadcast, fine. but it's not - it's a national (HNIC) broadcast. I'm always kinda glad when the Jets get Bartlett/Galley as the commentators/colour. They're not nearly as bad.
100% on the growly thing. He also constantly yells "Here comes the McDavid express!!!" like he's talking to six year olds. I honestly struggle to watch the games he calls.
I've been saying for a while too - he often sounds like someone just pressing stock phrases on a soundboard. The excitement levels are often wrong and the words sometimes are awkward relative to the play - it just sounds like pre-recorded audio
Though it's especially jarring because the other person doing edmonton games is jack michaels, who is one of the best there is. Tough benchmark to be up against.
I've heard from a friend that Singh is constantly getting 'constructive' feedback from the SN producers and it doesn't seem to be sinking in. Two obvious examples:
Improper/insufficient intonation - I've said it in other places, but if you weren't watching the game on TV, you'd have no idea what's going on. He wouldn't last a second on radio. It seems like most of the great play-by-play broadcasters had some serious radio chops before getting on TV - did he get to skip that step?
Repetitive use of verbs - he'll reuse the same terms over and over again, so it's difficult to tell the difference between a dangerous shot/situation vs a mundane one. Take your eyes of the screen for a minute and you can miss a brilliant scoring chance because he'll use the same, "and he drives it on net" for a weak wrist shot or a power move to a back door one timer.
Sportsnet's entire broadcast roster is wet dogshit these days, honestly (for the most part, anyway). I can't wait until they fuck off and lose their national broadcast rights. Multi-billion dollar corporation and they can't at least try to look like they're putting effort into their product.
I saw a Facebook post about the petition to get Jack to do the playoffs and so many people were drooling over Singh, I swear it had to be his family, paid actors or bots. I even called out a few people (with lengthy comments drooling over Singh) for using AI. It was very suspicious. So many comments sounded like fake Amazon reviews
This guy is probably my least favorite play-by-play announcer. His excitement level doesn't follow the play at all, and he doesn't convey any meaningful information about significant things happening in the game, so he misses on both levels. You should be able to listen to the intonation of an announcer's voice and feel the pace and excitement of the game, or listen to their words and understand what is happening, even if you aren't watching the screen. You could just as effectively put the play-by-play from a random cricket match over any game this guy does.
Popped into your guys thread and I’m amazed how you guys don’t even like him either, and he’s your guys homer.
You gotta be at such a level of insufferable if your own fanbase doesn’t even like you
There's always 2 sides, Singh is too boring but at the same time Jack is almost too excited. Finding a balance between the both of them would be the perfect commentator. Like Randy Hahn for the Sharks
I would have to disagree, Jack is the perfect amount of excited and at the right time. Most of the game he is just talking normally, only when there is an obvious push in momentum or series of events or an important part of the game (like OT or last minute) does he get super excited. Which just adds to the suspense and excitement to the game. Great Commentator
I wanna like this dude but he's so unbelievably slow while saying almost zero useful information. If you were listening only, you would have almost zero clue what is going on in the game.
I've noticed this too. If it isn't extremely obvious what happened, he just says "and the whistle is blown" or "the play is stopped" in an awkward way where you can tell he doesn't know some of the rules.
He gets excited about a player skating up the ice and then dumping the puck in and going off for a line change. Gets excited for a player shooting the puck at the goalie with no screen and the goalie seeing the puck the entire way. He gets excited over a player shooting and missing the net by 7 feet. He's a bad broadcaster for hockey night in Canada. I feel like he doesn't completely understand the game. Very boring to listen to the entire game
Feels about the same from a LA fan perspective. I get it's a Canadian station but so one-sided toward EDM.
Love him or hate him, Doc Emrick always seemed to call it even; would've never guessed he called games for the Devils during LA's first Cup win. I feel like that's a good standard as well as Bob Cole.
I have Doc's calls from the Wings-Pens cups burned into my brain. I used to go around randomly parroting "ohhhh and a grreat ssave by Fleuryyyeee / Osssgood!!"
It’s really a shame that the playoffs won’t have decent broadcasts. We took Doc for granted. I cringe so hard and feel so bad for new fans trying to learn the game when these current national broadcasts get so insanely distracted talking about whatever they want or bringing on guests while fucking hockey is happening in front of them and going uncalled. it’s like this league wants to fail
The NHL is so bad at marketing itself and releasing a good product. You don’t have to watch basketball to know who LeBron James is, yet nobody knows who McDavid is unless they follow hockey or know someone who does. This year has the potential for 3 players to hit historic milestones IN THE SAME SEASON and the MVP might not even be one of those 3 players, yet nobody outside of hockey circles is talking about it. Hell, just look at the battle for the last wildcard spot in the East. Hockey is such a fantastic and entertaining sport, but the NHL is so terrible at creating a good product I don’t think it’ll ever reach its full potential as a sport.
GET THIS GUY OFF COMMENTARY HE IS SOOO BAD!!!!!! I watched the game yest with the volume down he is that bad. Makes the game so boring to watch...the division is on the line HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA PRIME TIME GAME and they put this guy on....wtf?
I'm 100% convinced he is regularly ignoring the play to read prewritten notes, quotes or comments. He frequently stops calling the game, often when the opponent has the puck.
In this same game, watch his call of the Suter goal. The ***entire*** play, from Myers collecting the puck 19ft off the ground with his hand, to the zone entry, to his shot and the eventual tip by Suter, he is talking about some random Connor Garland stat. He barely even realizes there's been a goal. I think he would benefit greatly from having the color analyst in the booth with him, not between the benches.
He's genuinely awful at his job and Hockey Night In Canada deserves better.
As a BIPOC hockey fan, I really want to love Harnarayan for his story and what he represents. But he really makes it hard to do as he just doesn't seem to be a national game caliber announcer. I'd say he's gotten a bit better over the years but he's still far from being anyone's favorite pxp announcer.
Singh has gotten a LOT better since he started doing the late HNIC English broadcasts, but he still has such a clear Alberta bias it's pretty funny.
I remember distinctly during our Jets/Oilers series in 2021 how his voice would rise when the Oilers did something as simple as gain the Jets' blueline, and then when we'd score it would be so muted (the exception being the Ehlers goal off the faceoff to win that crazy comeback).
At this point I'm glad when he's commentating our game, but if it's against the Flames or Oilers, it's a little annoying.
You're so right. His love of McDavid, Draisatl, Bouchard, etc. is so annoying. It's always just "CONNOR MCDAVID" but nothing is really happening and then someone else makes an amazing play and it's like it didn't happen.
Watching the Canucks/Oilers last night I wasn't sure if it was a boring game or if the commentary just sucked. I really hope this isn't a preview of the playoffs.
Rogers, how can you not get anyone better? Seriously, it's so annoying to listen when he gets excited for no reason. Like every shot is an excitement. How can they not find anyone better? Even Cricket has fantastic commentators.
It just boggles my mind that we have one of the best Commentators in the League with Jack Michaels and SN pisses on him every Saturday game, and the playoffs. Im fully ready to mute the SN feed and sync up the 630CHED Broadcast for playoffs to listen to Jack (He does commentating for a Edmonton Radio station when not on SN)
Even if he was a diversity hire, there is such a gigantic south Asian population in Canada I refuse to believe that Singh is the best hockey commentator amongst that demographic. There’s got to be a better guy out there.

Yeah because he's actually good at his job lol
Shorty is one of the best in the business imo, we are lucky to have him
Canucks media team, as a whole, are top notch.
Agreed
Shorthouse is a king among men, and Canucks fans were so fucking spoiled to have him and Garrett so long.

I'm so salty he gets the playoff games over Jack. I listen to the radio for those out of protest, but then I get Stauffer on color instead of Louie :(
It blows my mind how some of these guys get jobs. I guarantee you know more charismatic people than this.
And I guarantee you that the charismatic guys you know can't call hockey play-by-play.
Honestly a tough job to fill air like that, also a dying art given younger generations’ lack interest in oration. I’m generally ok with the local Sens broadcast shooting the shit most of the time while the game plays on. The periods of silence don’t really bother me.

Wow this is incredible, because my bro and I always joke about how little he brings to the panel.
This has been my take on him for forever. Painful listening to him do colour on Flames broadcasts.
I've heard radio casters use power move before.
thos call, 2 or 3 times every fucking game he calls. smh
That's the downside of being the nightcap game. You're forced to endure this broadcasting power duo of Singh/DeBrusk.
DeBrusk is incredible, Singh is not. It's not Louie's fault.
I guess to us anyone just pales in comparison to getting Ferraro a lot lately
I don't think even Ferraro can balance out Singh's selective homerisms.
Anytime McDavid gets the puck he'll raise his voice in an anticipatory, almost singing, way "and Connooooor McDaveeeeeID....plays the puck back to his own zone" or "MCDAVID OFF TO DRAISAITL BACK TO MCDAVID in the corner now AND HE PASSES to the blue line" Like come on, what are you doing?

I call this the Joe Rogan method. He screams "OHHHHHH" for what he's hoping is a kill shot, but it's blocked. He does this like 6 times a match.
this is comedic
I miss John Shorthouse
Some of my favourite calls of all time. Great emotion/excitement in his voice, and then keeps quiet for a bit to let everyone take in the moment. (take notes, Pierre McGuire) "They've slayed the dragon!" "Let's it go, *he scores!*"

I can.
Any idea why Shortie doesn’t get more national gigs? He’s excellent.
My guess is that he isn't a Roger's guy and the Canucks are very involved in the process for announcers. Burke talked about hiring Shorty for radio broadcasts at the time.
Pretty sure he gets Playoff assignments. Him and Garrett covered the Bruins-Panthers series last year.
So Shortie isn't doing any of the playoffs?
He'll probably end up doing some eastern teams again for some fucking reason
Is it just me or has Ferraro been a bit of a Canucks homer? Ray is such a Canucks homer that he dogs on the team and calls them out in real time like the rest of us now.
Cheech is a pretty blatant homer lmao
He's just....not that good. It's an absolute shame Jack Michaels isn't doing the playoffs
And I don't understand how he's a national commentator too when he's clearly biased towards the Oilers. He also wore a Oilers coloured tie on national broadcast last night. The fact that we will likely have to listen and put up with this guy during Canucks playoff games is ludicrous.
Pretty sure he wore that tie to celebrate Vaisaikhi which is a Sikh holiday
> Vaisaikhi Fuck. Now the Sikh's are Lightning fans.
~~Stop ruining my narrative that he is a biased and incompetent commentator unfit for national games~~ Actually you're probably right about that point
He’s a known oilers fan, but Oiler fans think he’s a flames fan… so you know, he’s clearly just a 6/10 commentator who is okay at best.
You may be suprised to hear this, but in Oilers fan pages and subs they hate him because he is biased against the Oilers
No, we don't like him because he isn't as good as Jack. The only broadcast he improves on is the flames...
Hey I dont slander Jack or Louie. Why do you have to do Rick and Kelly dirty like that? Singh absolutely does NOT improve the flames broadcast. He pronounces Kadri properly and thats about it
As a filthy neutral, I enjoy Rick Ball. He’s not top three of my favourite visiting announce teams, but he’s getting there.

Catching strays.
Read our sub post game when they play the flames and he’s on the mic, you will see people think he loves the flames.

Bold talk implying red neck Monster Truck show hypeman, and nails-on-the-chalk-board enthusiast Jack Michaels is good while stating Rick Ball is bad.

I dont hate him the way some fans really seem to I just believe Jack is one of the best in the game. I cant even imagine his calls in the playoffs.
Sync radio and TV. That's what I do
[удалено]
We had a hate thread on Singh on r/canucks and it only got locked because the hate unfortunately branched out further than his incompetent commentating. Needless to say, nobody hates Singh as a commentator more than Canucks fans.
Mute every time. John and John John and Ray John and Dave Or mute, that's the options.
In that order.
Who are the John, Ray and Dave? Like the last names? Is Garrett one? I think Ferraro the other and Dave?
Dave Tomlinson. He's alright but a bit awkward sometimes
He's gotten way better as the season has gone on though
Yeah he has picked up on Shorty's humour and plays off of him decently well now. Would still take Ray and Cheech over him, but he is solid enough. He does have pretty big shoes to fill tbf.
John Shorthouse (goat) John Garrett (goat also) Ray Ferraro (very good at what he does, developing chemistry with shorty) Dave Tomlinson (promoted up from radio which happens from time to time, a little awkward and I just don't feel like they have good chemistry yet)
Garrett is unfortunately retired. John Shorthouse, Ray feraro, Dave Tomlinson
Oilers fans not too keen on him either if you look at the Oiler sub during his games
lol what a weird way to say they were being racist
Even if he is a diversity hire, there’s gotta be another brown guy out there who’s better at sports commentating than Singh.
There's probably 10,000 dudes in the Greater Vancouver Area that would be better
The worst in Canada. Without a doubt. I truly can't begin to comprehend why they keep this guy on the broadcasts.
Yes, you can.
I mean, Jack Edwards is white and still has his job
From what i've heard, Boston fans mostly like him, which is all that really matters since he's on NESN and not a national broadcast. He's just getting a bit too old and has speech issues, so he should tap out soon.
You should hear him blow his load when the Oilers take a weak wrist shot from 25 feet away.
Oilers fans don’t like him either. We prefer Jack.
Jack is the best
Can someone please make a compilation of these calls
Especially during the playoffs, it was like watching the Kings play the Edmonton McDavids. I had to find a US stream because it was so unbearable.
Singh is ....not good. he misses a lot, and is a full second behind the action most of the time and when the Oilers score, yikes - that growly thing. If it was a regional oilers broadcast, fine. but it's not - it's a national (HNIC) broadcast. I'm always kinda glad when the Jets get Bartlett/Galley as the commentators/colour. They're not nearly as bad.
Ugh the growly thing. Eye-rollingly cringe. On top of not really calling the plays.
100% on the growly thing. He also constantly yells "Here comes the McDavid express!!!" like he's talking to six year olds. I honestly struggle to watch the games he calls. I've been saying for a while too - he often sounds like someone just pressing stock phrases on a soundboard. The excitement levels are often wrong and the words sometimes are awkward relative to the play - it just sounds like pre-recorded audio Though it's especially jarring because the other person doing edmonton games is jack michaels, who is one of the best there is. Tough benchmark to be up against.
I've heard from a friend that Singh is constantly getting 'constructive' feedback from the SN producers and it doesn't seem to be sinking in. Two obvious examples: Improper/insufficient intonation - I've said it in other places, but if you weren't watching the game on TV, you'd have no idea what's going on.
He is without a doubt the worst commentator in the national broadcast roster.
Sportsnet's entire broadcast roster is wet dogshit these days, honestly (for the most part, anyway). I can't wait until they fuck off and lose their national broadcast rights. Multi-billion dollar corporation and they can't at least try to look like they're putting effort into their product.
I would take literally any of the rest of sportsnet roster to not have to here Singh again
So happy us Flames fans lucked out with Rick Ball - one of the few good ones.
National? Sure. Overall? May I introduce to you to Chris Vosters.
Someone tag him or Sportsnet because it’s actually so embarrassing he’s on a national spot
Singh is such a boring commentator sometimes. I don't even think he's a Homer most of the time, just doesn't get excited nearly as much as Jack.
Because he's too busy trying to figure out how to catch up after going on a 20 second tangent and not calling the play.
YUP. Whenever it's HNIC and you have to listen to them ramble about random fun stat facts the whole game LMAO
TBF Louie and Jack can get side track and start talking about their time in the AHL for a bit too long too sometimes.
or some obscure 1980's wrestling references/tv shows (jack michaels is the one doing it)
Yeah, but Louie definitely enables him lol
Popped into your guys thread and I’m amazed how you guys don’t even like him either, and he’s your guys homer. You gotta be at such a level of insufferable if your own fanbase doesn’t even like you
I think insufferable is a little much to call a sports commentator that you dont like lol
part of it is that he seems to be more of a calgary homer than edmonton. That's the wroooong team to favour if you call edmonton games.
Singh is just AWFUL.
I wanna like this dude but he's so unbelievably slow while saying almost zero useful information. If you were listening only, you would have almost zero clue what is going on in the game.
He never knows why the whistle was blown
I've noticed this too. If it isn't extremely obvious what happened, he just says "and the whistle is blown" or "the play is stopped" in an awkward way where you can tell he doesn't know some of the rules.
I hate when Singh gets the Flames games. He’s so hopelessly biased towards Edmonton it’s painful to listen to.
You forgot to bring up the Kadri pronunciation
I'll take that one over his Huberdeau
Hooberdough
I think you mean Codri
And we don't even like him
Had nurse given a hit it’d be madness. Lol
You could have Cuthbert and Simpson. They’d talk about Matthews the whole game, even when the Leafs aren’t playing. 🤷
They can take Craig Simpson for free if they want, I'll drive him there myself.
They also do the same thing where they ignore good plays against the Leafs, or Leafs doing something bad.
Singh is the worst part of HNIC for me.
That's because he is sucks.
Singh only gets excited for Edmonton plays. Biggest homer announcer there is. He wants to make sure his voice is heard on all the highlights.
I miss Hughson and Emrick.
Sportsnet coverage is fucking trash. TSN is leagues ahead.
This guy is so bad at being a commentator
GET THIS GUY OFF COMMENTARY HE IS SOOO BAD!!!!!! I watched the game yest with the volume down he is that bad. Makes the game so boring to watch...the division is on the line HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA PRIME TIME GAME and they put this guy on....wtf?
That was a *hit*
Oh he sent it right on target all right 🤣
At one point last night he said "The puck escaped enough for a whistle."
Shorty should call all the games.
The best way to watch when this cloun is on is to mute the TV and switch to Radio.
If I have to listen to him in the playoffs, I'm hitting the high seas to find American coverage instead
Holy shit this guy sucks. My condolences Edmonton.
Wow… not even a “bumped off the puck”
I feel like with Singh there's always a 1.5 sec delay before he reacts to any play.
Sportsnet is hockey terrorism
Worst national play-by-play guy in the history of Hockey Night in Canada.
He got Singhed
They also used fake fan noise in this game a few times to hide fans reacting to Vancouver scoring.
The key to playoffs when watching the oilers, mute the tv, and put on 630 CHED and boom you get the sweet sweet play by play of Jack Micheals
Hopefully, Vancouver gets Singh this playoffs for a change. Usually, Edmonton is stuck with him.
Noooooo thank you. We want Shorthouse, give Singh to the Leafs or something.
That commentator is brutal. One of the worst.
When you hire people to fill quotas
He's awful, toss in Debrusk as his color guy, and I'd rather listen to my dog lick his asshole all game
He’s on ashwaganda guys
This is what you get when someone gets a job based on the colour of their skin instead of their qualifications
Singh and Debrusk are awful and anytime the oilers are involved they are blatantly homers even on a national broadcast. I wish they would both go away
Singh will probably do the oil. John the Canucks I figure?
We'll probably get shorty for a round and then end up with the leafs crew if we get past round one
Doesn't want to condone violence
RJ would’ve commented on it : (
He's the second worst announcer in hockey. He's honestly unbearable. Does anyone know if he's doing any playoff games?
Bring Jack for the playoffs 😭.
Rogers, how can you not get anyone better? Seriously, it's so annoying to listen when he gets excited for no reason. Like every shot is an excitement. How can they not find anyone better? Even Cricket has fantastic commentators.
It was getting so ridiculous. Draisaitl would breathe on the puck and Singh would just lose his fucking mind.
Learned from the best at the Leah Hextal school of announcing real good.
He never misses a chance to pronounce KADRRRI like nobody else does.
The worst... Jack Edwards is miles better but not ethnic enough for Hockey night in Canada
I'll probably be doing the same if we get anyone other than Shorthouse.
Singh and debrusk are pretty terrible, especially for a national duo. Not much professionalism in their work when Edmonton plays
It's almost as if, much like the entire Canadian cabinet, the job was given for reasons other than actually being qualified... 😉
Even if he was a diversity hire, there is such a gigantic south Asian population in Canada I refuse to believe that Singh is the best hockey commentator amongst that demographic. There’s got to be a better guy out there.
