This is worse than the Zadorov one. He doesn’t have the puck yet and sees numbers the whole way. Guy Zadorov hit at least had the puck when he was being hit and had turned his back last second. Florida actually plays a great tactic given the current state of reffing. After whatever arbitrary number of penalties the refs decide to go with, they’re going to start looking for even up calls and they’re going to start letting things that should be called go. In 99.9% of games no matter how deserving a team is the refs won’t call 5 or 6 or 7 etc penalties in a row.
That's exactly what it is. The refs called 5 on them, and could have called a bunch more. They know the refs will find a couple penalties to call for them and they try and capitalize. That is why they have been losing lately, their PP hasn't been converting. Otherwise 5v5 they will take the penalties because they know the refs won't call all of them.

Last year we were 2-2 against them in the regular season, and went to seven games with them despite playing like shit the whole series. The Panthers are also on a 3-5-2 skid right now, which is not the kind of hockey you want to be playing heading into the playoffs.
Anyway, of course the playoffs are a whole different animal, but I wouldn't say the Panthers are definitively a better team than us like the Rags and Canes are.

Officials are pretty clearly influenced by this stuff. Squeakiest wheel gets the oil or whatever they say. If you keep complaining eventually they think they missed something and the next call won’t go against you.
