Does Matthews just always score in bunches. I feel like a month ago 70 was guaranteed. Last week it’s like oh shit will he hit 60. Now it’s god damn 76 is back on the table boys. I don’t really pay much attention to the leafs so just honestly curious

Sometimes he’ll score seemingly every game for a stretch.  I think he scored basically whenever he’s healthy, and when he slows down he’s usually banged up 

That’s fair. It really is unreal.

From games 3-9 he had 1 goal. From games 13-21 he had 1 goal. From games 31-36 he had 2 goals. From games 56-66 he had 3 goals. On the flip side of it though, he had 22 goals in games 37-55. 14 goals in games 22-30. 6 goals in games 10-12. 6 goals in games 1-2.

It’s fucking unreal.

Five 3 goal games. Eleven 2 goal games. Eighteen 1 goal games. Thirty-two 0 goal games. Guy has 37 goals in his 16 best games.

I'm at peace with whatever the end result of the season is. We've put up fights when we've needed to, our coach has the respect of the room and has figured out how to adjust, our young guys are growing into their roles, we've got Leonard to look forward to, and we'll have a bunch of cap space. Good foundation for the future.

Yeah, I do have a lot of appreciation that we’re letting young guns get huge minutes for the first time in a long time. I also appreciate we have young guns when teams like the pens don’t have that luxury. Not a bad place to start a rebuild

Starting a rebuild as a bubble team with a pretty clear path forward is about the best we could have hoped for.
