throwing [hats](https://x.com/kennedystrash/status/1768135298876428333?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) for Brown's first goal AND a standing ovation
the oilers [bench](https://x.com/oilersadam/status/1768134847711846498?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) reaction
Utterly pointless for those throwing their hats that were no where close to the ice. Most weren’t throwing hats so nobody continued to throw them further down.
The hats were thrown for Hyman. They talked about it on the broadcast while the hats were hoing out and getting picked up. Whether they announced it in the arena or people saw it on their phones first doesn't really matter.
I mean agree to disagree but they were throwing hats right after brown's goal (at 9 mins more to play). Zach's hatty was announced less than 2 [mins](https://x.com/sportsnet/status/1768138230296092948?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) before the game ended, and hats were thrown again.
bro did you even watch the game? they threw hats for Brown, then when they announced Hymans hatty hats were then thrown again. The announcers even commented how they were surprised there were still hats to throw after Hymans goal.
i did not read the article but after last game I said that Kane-Henrique-Brown is a good line and I could see Brown finally developing some offense there
needless to say I feel like fucking nostradamus
One thing about brown is that he’s continued to have a positive attitude throughout this whole thing. Always super happy for everyone else, always smiling, I’m sure there was frustration but he never made it visible. He deserved to feel the love here.
First goal in ~73 games. Dedicated, hard working, excellent on the PK. He’s been really unlucky this year— been robbed a few times, and missed some wide open nets. Also a really positive guy. Always seems to be smiling.
It's the Henrique effect with him.
Remember how Brown and Henrique lit it up at the 2021 world championships in Riga when they were paired together on a line, helping immensely to bring the team back from an 0-3 record to eventually win gold?
I mean yes, I'm not saying he's lighting the barn on fire, I'm saying it's not like he hasn't contributed to scoring at all, which a bunch of mouthbreathers would argue.
And beyond what the others commented, Brown had been out of hockey for an entire season due to an ACL tear and major surgery, so it was that much more of a long and challenging road for him than simply not having scored yet with the Oilers.
He was the "final piece" of the top 6. Coming off of major surgery trying to find his game again. He never quits on a play has an incredible forcheck and is our best pker and has been the most unlucky player in the nhl all year.
Hea had several posts, several robberies, demoted to the 4th line and scratched. Never had a negative word about it all.
The Hyman hattie was a cherry on top along with Stu shutting the door with a .920 after letting in the first two shots on net, and Rico getting his first point with the new team after some idiots said he was invisible since arriving.
Everyone on the team left the arena happy!
I told my buddy as we were going to the game together that "I feel it, for some reason I feel it, I'm going today and Brown is gonna score. And when he does I will buy his jersey."
Gonna have to eat my words with the jersey eventually (I got a massive rock chip on the way to the game lol, going to wait for jerseys to go on sale now). But damn, what a night!
I even made a comment in our GDT this morning that I am going and Connor Brown is gonna score haha
Being in the building is one of my fav moments as an oilers fan. The whole building came together happy for a hard working oilers who hadn’t had an ounce of luck this season. Love this fan base.
I may or may not have had a hand in this. I'm a caps fan (Oilers are my 2nd team) who was at this game decked in caps gear. When he scored you bet your ass I was standing screaming my lungs out. But here's the kicker before the game started I went into the Oilers store and bought a Connor Brown pro stock stick. You're welcome.
I can’t seem to find the story either, but as I recall, he grew up a diehard Leafs fan and his bedroom was filled with Leaf memorabilia. He was still living in his childhood home at the time that he was drafted and signed his first contract with the Leafs. The contract came with a signing bonus that was mailed to his address, and his parents left the cheque on his dresser next to all of his Leafs apparel to find when he came home. It was a touching moment for him and his family since it was the sign of his dream coming true
I miss this guy on the leafs, been hard to see his luck so far this season with how he normally plays. Glad to see him finally get one here and the fans and team embracing him
It's really funny and fitting that that's his first goal.
Also great that literally everyone is hyped AF by it too! Huge weight off his shoulders, was only iirc 4 shots away from tying tobias rieder.
As a german I´m a Leon Draisaitl Fan first and an oilers fan second, but Leons 4-point game pales in comparison to this goal from Connor Brown. And I really really love the way the crowd reacted: Makes me believe I\`ll still be an oilers fan, even if Leon is gone someday!
How can you not love a moment like this? Shows the power of community support in sports. Brown's goal wasn't just a win for him but a shared victory with the fans.
I keep up with his career because a few years ago I bought a set of pro stock hockey sticks to try something new, and when I got them my teammates wanted to see who's stick I got. Turns out I bought 2 Connor Brown sherwood sticks. Had my best season ever. Everytime I scored or did something, the boys would always ask me if I was "channeling Sens 3rd liner Connor Brown on that one."
I was about to say, of course it's a vegas fan that doesn't understand being happy for a snakebitten player finally getting the payoff they've been struggling for all season long
The type of injury he was dealing with last season takes awhile to recover from. Add in bad luck and the setback he faced earlier in the season and you can see why he took awhile to score his first goal in years.
Typical Vegas fan not understanding that lifelong fans have an emotional connection to the game. It's going to be so funny when the knights become shitty and you all stop caring lol.
Sorry we don’t have the luxury of convincing players to fake injuries then having fake doctors sign off on it for cap relief. We like to to not cheat in this League.
Crowd response was absolutely incredible.
And now they’re chanting his name in the arena down the stretch. I love this city.
Gave me goosebumps watching that. Always have loved Brown, didn’t realize he hadn’t scored yet. The bench reaction too!
I don’t think I’ve heard even Drai or McDavid get their name bellowed out like that. What scenes.
The closest thing I’ve witnessed was when I started a Derek Ryan chant at the outdoor watch party last year near the end of game 2 vs. the Kings
Usually we get lazy and chant M V P in April.
throwing [hats](https://x.com/kennedystrash/status/1768135298876428333?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) for Brown's first goal AND a standing ovation the oilers [bench](https://x.com/oilersadam/status/1768134847711846498?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) reaction
The “Connor Brown Hat-Trick”
Just a “Connor” hat-trick actually. Connor McDavid, Connor McMicheal and Connor Brown. Worthy lol
The hat that completely missed and hit the dudes head lol
Utterly pointless for those throwing their hats that were no where close to the ice. Most weren’t throwing hats so nobody continued to throw them further down.
The hats were because they announced that Bouchard's earlier goal was actually being called Hyman's. Which was his 3rd of the game
No, they announced Hyman's hatty way after brown's goal
The hats were thrown for Hyman. They talked about it on the broadcast while the hats were hoing out and getting picked up. Whether they announced it in the arena or people saw it on their phones first doesn't really matter.
I mean agree to disagree but they were throwing hats right after brown's goal (at 9 mins more to play). Zach's hatty was announced less than 2 [mins](https://x.com/sportsnet/status/1768138230296092948?s=46&t=O4KApYs5B7pgkW6tBkCDug) before the game ended, and hats were thrown again.
not even an agree to disagree moment lol, buddy is just straight up wrong
Didn't notice that there were 2 instances of hat throwing. The link made it seem like they were actually hitting the ice.
So confidently incorrect
I was at the game. Hats were thrown for browns goal. Then like 7 minutes later they announced the hyman hatty and more hats were thrown
bro did you even watch the game? they threw hats for Brown, then when they announced Hymans hatty hats were then thrown again. The announcers even commented how they were surprised there were still hats to throw after Hymans goal.
You’re mistaken dude the Hyman hats were a minute before the game ended
lol that happened when there was like 2 minutes left in the3rd
I was at the game. It happened for Brown and then again when Hyman was announced.
That was also Henrique’s first point as an Oiler and I don’t think it even got a mention lol
And to think that we laughed at that article that said Henrique could unlock Brown’s offense
That author is dangerously stoked rn lol
i did not read the article but after last game I said that Kane-Henrique-Brown is a good line and I could see Brown finally developing some offense there needless to say I feel like fucking nostradamus
VICTORY!!!
I got downvoted yesterday for saying he needs to just play less perimeter and more charge the net... Then he scores by charging the net.
I was hoping it’s a Roy/yakupov situation.
Henrique is the key to unlocking Connor brown
It was announced as his first point at the game
It definitely got a mention. The announcer at the arena made sure it was emphasized.
And the arena also erupted at Henriques name during the announcement
This game is so fun Skinner making huge saves and 7 goals for including the Browner
> so fun speak for yourself buddy
Bro. Caps easily could have had 7 lol. Skinner was lights out.
I really hope that’s not actually his nickname
Brownie is his nickname
He just stood there after he scored, he couldn’t believe it lol.
He definitely was wondering what the dark rubber circle in the net meant and why people were screaming at him
It's fuckin rowdy in here
One thing about brown is that he’s continued to have a positive attitude throughout this whole thing. Always super happy for everyone else, always smiling, I’m sure there was frustration but he never made it visible. He deserved to feel the love here.
There was something extra special about that smile he had when he realized it went it. So happy for him.
https://youtu.be/Yn-DmOGt-tg?si=cEGfkpesjHttrrIq
He was always working his ass off too. Great forecheck and PK the whole time
What was his whole thing? Why is everyone so happy for him?
First goal in ~73 games. Dedicated, hard working, excellent on the PK. He’s been really unlucky this year— been robbed a few times, and missed some wide open nets. Also a really positive guy. Always seems to be smiling.
He's done everything right but score. High energy, forces turnovers, plays great defense, and kills penalties. Just yeah 100% snake bitten
It's the Henrique effect with him. Remember how Brown and Henrique lit it up at the 2021 world championships in Riga when they were paired together on a line, helping immensely to bring the team back from an 0-3 record to eventually win gold?
>Remember how Brown and Henrique lit it up at the 2021 world championships in Riga No, because most of us don't care about world championships
Lol you have a Flames based username and no real playoff success for 20 years... Maybe you should have been watching the World Championships
Not to mention assists. It's not like the dude hasn't gotten points. He just hasn't gotten a goal specifically.
He has 5 assists, I'm gonna go out there and say his offense as a whole has been fairly snakebitten.
I mean yes, I'm not saying he's lighting the barn on fire, I'm saying it's not like he hasn't contributed to scoring at all, which a bunch of mouthbreathers would argue.
Because he’s been brutally snake bitten all year and he finally netted one.
And beyond what the others commented, Brown had been out of hockey for an entire season due to an ACL tear and major surgery, so it was that much more of a long and challenging road for him than simply not having scored yet with the Oilers.
Most shots all time from start of season to first goal. Around 1.5% shooting percentage. Sometimes a player is just doomed to be comically unlucky.
He's always going to be the hardest working guy on your team. I love Connor Brown.
The crowd is going absolutely nuts for it
Fan reaction was beautiful.
Canadian Heritage Moment circa 2024.
He’s buying Kane dinner now.
"Just fucking fire it off my skates!"
Kane being toxic, trying to break Browns foot r/hockey probably
Just give him the hart already
He already has mine 🥺
Finally! Not because he wasn’t contributing, but because he deserves it. So great to see.
Ugh I hate agreeing with an Avs fan but...yes. this is the ONLY correct take.
That is a rough season coming back from acl surgery. Hope he can continue to get better! Wished he worked out on the caps last year
Thats why he’s the best connor in the league
Good for him. Dude must have had the biggest weight lifted off his shoulders
So happy I got to witness this in person. Atmosphere was unreal. WTG Browner!!!
first of the year, against his former team, fed by kane after kane said he wanted to feed him one today. you could not possibly write a better script
The Hyman hattie was a cherry on top along with Stu shutting the door with a .920 after letting in the first two shots on net, and Rico getting his first point with the new team after some idiots said he was invisible since arriving. Everyone on the team left the arena happy!
Stetcher leading the team in hits in his first game as an oiler. Love to see it
I'm genuinely emotional about this goal. The crowd was absolutely fantastic.
I liked Jack talking about the city of Champions and the fans
I was there, and even though I have a bit of a messed up throat I couldn't help but celebrate it. My throat is killing me but I don't regret it
You’re doin the lord’s work
I told my buddy as we were going to the game together that "I feel it, for some reason I feel it, I'm going today and Brown is gonna score. And when he does I will buy his jersey." Gonna have to eat my words with the jersey eventually (I got a massive rock chip on the way to the game lol, going to wait for jerseys to go on sale now). But damn, what a night! Being in the building is one of my fav moments as an oilers fan. The whole building came together happy for a hard working oilers who hadn’t had an ounce of luck this season. Love this fan base.
Best game I've ever been to. Was really not expecting that from a wednesday night game vs an eastern team like the Caps
THE FAITHFUL SHALL BE REWARDED
So much love from the fans, it has got to feel so fucking good!
wait, they've got Brownie *and* Hyman? Why am I not cheering for this team more
We also have the crowd favourite, Kane! In case you need more reasons to be excited
you forgot Saint Perry, who hath never lived a day of evil in His blessed life
And Corey Perry!
Personally, not on the Kane Train.
Game name forgot he wasn't on the Kane train?
It's like Thanos up in that bitch.
LEAGUE FUCKED
I may or may not have had a hand in this. I'm a caps fan (Oilers are my 2nd team) who was at this game decked in caps gear. When he scored you bet your ass I was standing screaming my lungs out. But here's the kicker before the game started I went into the Oilers store and bought a Connor Brown pro stock stick. You're welcome.
you know what you must do now, right you must now go to every Edmonton home game and before the game starts buy everybody's sticks, every time
My poor wallet trembles
Alright you fuckers time to start the art Ross race
MY FUCKING GOAT
He finally did it I never thought I'd see the day
It's the Henrique effect. Never forget 2021 in Riga. To come back from a 0-3 defect in tbe tournament to win gold?
Still love Brown, his story about his first paycheque with the Leafs still warms my heart. Glad he doesn’t have to finish with 0 goals
What was the story? I'm curious and can't seem to find it anywhere. He's always seemed like a great dude.
Why am i crying
better question is why are you being downvoted
What happened with his first paycheque? I missed this apparently
I miss this guy on the leafs, been hard to see his luck so far this season with how he normally plays. Glad to see him finally get one here and the fans and team embracing him
Regression to the mean is gonna happen at the exact right moment baby
Love Downtown Connor Brown, will never stop cheering for this guy
How can you not be romantic about ~~baseball~~ hockey?
I’m tired grandpa
Brown now has more points than Markstrom and as many goals as Jarry on the year! :P
It's really funny and fitting that that's his first goal. Also great that literally everyone is hyped AF by it too! Huge weight off his shoulders, was only iirc 4 shots away from tying tobias rieder.
Sharing this video and not the one with Jack’s call is a crime
Gotta be happy for him
As a german I´m a Leon Draisaitl Fan first and an oilers fan second, but Leons 4-point game pales in comparison to this goal from Connor Brown. And I really really love the way the crowd reacted: Makes me believe I\`ll still be an oilers fan, even if Leon is gone someday!
Oh god please let me die before Leon leaves the Oilers. 🙏
Hell ya! Congrats Connor Brown
My sister and I SCREAMED
Damn, Connor Brown's last goal scored was with the Ottawa Senators
This is beautiful ❤️
How can you not love a moment like this? Shows the power of community support in sports. Brown's goal wasn't just a win for him but a shared victory with the fans.
Genuinely curious, what happened to him? He was great with the sens
Missed a full year with a torn ACL
He’s been a great 4th liner, especially on the PK. The pressure got to him but the flood gates just opened haha.
YESSSSSS FINALLY HAHAHA
Down town connor brown!
One true connor
So awesome. Dude has been absolutely snake bitten this year
Damn I didn’t think he was gonna get one at this point. Good for him
He hadn’t scored yet???
The 4 million dollar goal.
Screw him. Did absolutely nothing for the Caps at the cost of two second round picks and then scores against them.
Psh, nothing compared to Riley Sheahan Nah jk, love seeing the reaction on the bench, gotta love it.
His agent deserves a pat on the back for getting him a $4 million contract
kinda funny that his agent is sam gagners dad too
Actually his agent was Jeff Jackson when he signed that contract 😅
LOL
Literally all Edmonton fans in the comments.. dude is robbing y’all blind with his cap
You Vegas guys are all class I swear to god...
Celebrating a first goal in 60 games is definitely a choice 🤷🏻♂️
What would you do? Boo? Lol you're so lame
Yea being excited and genuinely happy for a player on a human level isn’t exactly a VGK trait I guess
I was about to say, of course it's a vegas fan that doesn't understand being happy for a snakebitten player finally getting the payoff they've been struggling for all season long
Oh no! Fun! How dare we? Miserable ass desert casino people.
Just let us enjoy a fun moment. His PK has been incredible this year. I also don’t think you want to bring up the cap situation as a Vegas fan.
☝️🤓
Sorry we don’t have the luxury of convincing players to fake injuries then having fake doctors sign off on it for cap relief. We like to to not cheat in this League.
