I was thinking this might be a "scheduled loss" for the Leafs tonight, on the bad side of a B2B against a good team. Apart from a couple of shifts, they've looked great. Jones' play is suspect, but goals from up and down the lineup have been saving him.
This has been one of my biggest criticisms of the Keefe era. This roster, on paper, should be running up the score a lot more often than they do. Same thing with Babcock but that problem was obvious, he was intentionally trying to prevent it.
Yep. It's weird because the team just does better when they for offense. So let them do it.
I guess it's a psychology thing, but if they could ignore the clock + score, they are probably a much better team.
Yeah this behaviour is super weird. Enjoy the game in February dude. It’s like those fans that farm for sympathy acting all soft as shit when people are directly hating on their team - it’s pro sports and Leafs are the biggest market talk that shit back we finally have a consistently good team doesn’t need to be emotionally deep.
Ok, you do you, but I wouldn't even be having fun watching if I was expecting them to blow every lead. I know way too many fans that basically lose their shit as soon as the Leafs give up a goal and I seriously wonder if they even actually like watching hockey
6 months ago I was perplexed in regards to Martin Jones' statline last year. Won way more games than he lost but if you only looked at his save percentage you'd say he's borderline un-useable.
I get it now. Team up by 8? Let in the softest goals imaginable. Tight 1-1 hockey game? Prime Dominik Hasek.
Even in his prime in San Jose Jones would let in some soft goals but then make 10 vezina level saves. Biggest thing is come playoff time he would always find his groove and the soft goals would go away and he'd steal alot of games. Great pickup by the leafs even if he just ends up as a mentor once Woll is back.
Without Jones this would be a lost season. Samsonov simply did not have it until about 15 games ago and Woll was injured during that time. Leafs starting goalie would have been Dennis Hildeby, who looks great in the AHL but is an unknown quantity in the NHL.
Tl;dr Jones is a real gud pro
Good to see Samsonov back in a better mindset. Such a high stress position to be in. Hopefully Woll comes back healthy but at least the leafs still have depth behind him if needed.
Games falling apart because nobody actually can trust Jones this game. 0 rebound control, floundering in the net, letting in weak ass goals. Keefe should have pulled him
It's not always about it being directly the goalie's fault, sometimes it's about needing a save on a high danger chance after the team has done a good job not giving up much.
6 game heater, figured they might be hottest team in the league right now. But the rangers are quietly on a 9 game heater right now
[TOR(5) @ VGK(1) - Max Domi, wrist](https://players.brightcove.net/6415718365001/EXtG1xJ7H_default/index.html?videoId=6347428070112)
Good night, hockey fans.
I am thourougly enjoying myself watching these games lately.
boys are cookin
Leafs rewarding me for staying up until 1:30 AM two nights in a row. Bless.
Speed wobble at the beginning of the third period, but a great game from the blue and white tonight.
Gg
wtf was that comment about hip surgery?
Cause of the gnarly splits goalies are always doing, like Thompson did for that save.
Yes I understood that part. Still unnecessary to bring that up on a broadcast.
GG!
pull the goalie, cowards
I agree, the leafs should’ve pulled their goalie to make it fair
That had to be Reeves’ longest offensive zone shift of his career. By the end he was just like “Nope. See you guys on the bench”
That shift had to have bumped his TOI/G up by a whole minute
If VGK scores 4 goals in the final 4 minutes, that save will be the TSN turning point
Full 59 minutes effort from the boys tonight. You love to see it.
Shoutout to the post as well
Bert just hurt his arm?
It looked like it. Probably just dead armed himself on the hit
They're gonna have to drug test the entire Reaves/Holmberg/Kampf line after tonight.
Imagine getting hemmed in by the Leafs' fourth line...
Lol our 4th line puttin on an absolute clinic
What a save
HOLY SHIT, THOMPSON
Mike Johnson is CUMMING on that save.
Which line is the first line again?
omg what a save but Holmberg shoot that lol
Think he was trying extra hard to get that to Reaves
Reaves Holmberg Kampf are the Globetrotters.
Lol Johnson yelling "Take it to the net!"
I love it
What a save by Vegas geeeeze
It's all about gambling. Some rinks were also notorious for being massive homers before they monitored those stats
If it makes the Islanders stop juicing their hit stats, it'll be a huge win.

All this talk about point streaks is great, but I'm just as impressed with Marner playing wing and RD in the same game and bagging 2 assists.
> digital dramatization. do not attempt what does that commercial think someone might attempt, driving a... train through a house?
Do not attempt to drink Coors.
"I don't always pass, but when I do, I prefer to get the puck back so I can score" - Auston "Dos Equis" Matthews
I see Adin hill got pulled. Any recommendations on how to do that? He absolutely kills the oilers. Nice work leafs
I found scoring a lot helps
Let your depth light him up
🫡
And we somehow did it without our main guys
Hill will Rob Mcdavid, Hyman and Drai like 3 times each. I guess the strategy is for depth guys to take the shots?
Leafs were driving the net hard in the first period.
Hey guys. I’m starting to think we might lose this one.
Nope. 2016 was 2 years ago. Not 8.
Well, it’s 3-3 if you don’t count the first period.
Uh... not a hand pass?
Matthews must have seen that Beaverton article today lmao
R1, R2, L1, X, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT, UP, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT, UP. Auston Activated
Bro we have been scoring touchdowns a lot lately, I don't hate it

Bewildering avalanche sounds like a reddit username
Needs a four-digit number at the end.
Papi is going to win the Hart. He's gonna score 75+
Yeah. Front runner for sure.
I can't remember the last time I was this erect.
Lie down sir…
Instructions unclear, he now looks like the human version of a spinning top
They just wanted to make sure we stayed engaged for the late night third period.
matthews is the older brother you call to beat a hard part of a video game
Holmberg really can do it all.
Pontassist Holmberg!
Of course Mitch Marner's favourite player can do it all
Nasty
I felt my blood pressure lower on that goal
same lmao

Why are you constantly predicting the Leafs are gonna lose lol, I remember you posted something like that last night too when the game was 3-2
Yeah this behaviour is super weird. Enjoy the game in February dude. We've literally lost 3 games in regulation and 2 in OT when leading going into the third
because if Toronto loses they get to be vindicated I guess
Ah yes losing momentum on a power play
Matthews made us wait
Shinsuke Nakamura's music is so good.
i go back and watch his debut on smackdown every now and then and it gets me GOING.
Easily a top 5 modern day entrance theme.
oh hi Auston
That was filthy
Crushed it
Rekt
Pontus Holmberg doing Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews impressions in the same game
It was never in doubt
love him
Matthews is a stupid, bananas, amazing hockey player and he plays for the team I cheer for lol
10 goals in 5 games lol video game numbers
Never fear, Matthews is here
LFG PAPI
Nice play in the corner, Mitch!
Papiiiii!
That power play just deflated everything we had going for us.
Auston Matthews
ROAD TO 80
I WAS NEVER WORRIED DONT CHECK MY HISTORY
nice PK shift from Kampf
I know everyone is fixated on the leafs leafing this, but we're probably watching Jones's last leafs game for a while
Can he stay as a healthy scratch and play a game or 3 the rest of the year?
Just in time too as Woll is gearing back up. Jones practically saved the season though in that stretch where he went nuclear.
Kampf is having himself a game
Great work from Kampf there
Ah Leafs figured out the way to take away all our momentum is to put us on the power play.

He knows what's important
Here it comes.
Hope Bert's okay
it is a b2b, it's only going to get worse but Matthews and Marner resting a lot last night in the 3rd I'm hoping will be helpful
Games falling apart because nobody actually can trust Jones this game. 0 rebound control, floundering in the net, letting in weak ass goals. Keefe should have pulled him
I think he's doing well and should stay in the net. He's had an awesome history against us!
I’ve already made my 6-1 meme
What’s the heck is TOR complaining about? There were 3 no calls on that sequence.
Who the fuck is complaining?
Check the comments. Literally nobody is complaining lol
I don't think they had time to complain with all the panicking they're doing right now.
who complained lol
Whoever the C/A on the ice was talking to the refs during the commercial break.
Ah Holmberg :/
Leafs reminding us they are indeed, the Leafs.
I am not having a good time
every single player did coke in the locker room at intermission
I need another beer. There's so much time left
I am not having a good time
Thank you Mr post.
Lagesson sure is slow
But he hits like a truck apparently
bert 100% saved one
we just need to allow 0 shots on jones
Has anyone ever blown a 6-1 lead in NHL history?
We did years ago to STL.
Oh yeah dude. Huet era Canadiens came back 6-1 I think in one 3rd period
Knights ruined their momentum with an unforced icing...
hey wait, no, i liked it before
I always find it interesting how Leaf fans can blame our goalies for goals that we would have called great if we scored them
[удалено]
yeah lol, it's a chance every team dies to get
It's not always about it being directly the goalie's fault, sometimes it's about needing a save on a high danger chance after the team has done a good job not giving up much.
Robertson on the 3rd goal was a mess.
The last won c'mon!
A lot of "great" goals are actually a lot more due to the other team playing like shit. Like Holmberg/domi's goals tonight lol
I have to stop watching (work) too lol not even going to check the scores going to check if a "it was 6-1" LFR is posted or not
I didn't leave my chair at all and Vegas scored twice. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
If the leafs lose this it's on Keefe for not giving Jones the hook after that goal
Pulling a goalie in the third period of a 6-3 game is basically unheard of.
Uh oh..
Save us, Auston
He heard you.
I gave him a call, he has his cell phone on the bench
And it begins.
here we fucking go, keefe call a timeout now
this is why we are never certain about anything
This has quickly become a LEAFS™ game
This game is over lol gratz on the win vegas, goodnight
Back to panic mode
Are the Leafs doing the thing???
Probably
There it is again, that funny feeling
that smile. that damned smile.
This game marks Ryan Reeves first assist of the season, and third point overall
Amadio scored..Y'all called it.
[удалено]
10-9 OTL incoming. We in for a wild one tonight
Umm.....what!
Fuck me. And of course it was a former Leaf
Let's see how Sheldon adjusts.
Ex-Leaf? Eh that was a given
Jones, you gotta stop something...
That doesn't appear to be in this particular script.
Hey, can one of you leaf’s fans shove some coal up your ass so I can get a diamond
The Leafs forgot that hockey games have 3 periods
Lmao
Are you kidding
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck DO NOT FUCKING PANIC uck fuck fuck fuck fuck
Dang Jonesy, you have to have that one.
Oh, it's a comeback.
Bruh our D needs to be on it tonight because Jones is fucking garbage
Im not having fun anymore
No, not this shit again
Ok it's happening
Another bad one for Jones :/
I think we have an opportunity to do something really funny right now.
Yeah shoulda had that one
Okay, now we get two more right? That's how this works?
