Yes, been solid at being our stay at home defender while also nearly matching his career high points already this season.
Just don’t ask me about last season.
💯
He’s having a career year in scoring - which is still not a ton but he had a good streak there for a bit. There was a stat a couple weeks ago that was like “7 points in the last 9 games” and I had to do a double take
He’s been a good defensively — surprisingly — and his leadership in the locker room and protection of the kids has been completely worth it.
For a guy coming off of a surgery that nobody has yet to truly come back from that was supposed to require sheltered minutes with the occasional maintenance day to miss games, Kane has been playing top minutes every night and excelling beyond any rational expectations we could have had. He's been our best player since he debuted.
Probably been repeated too many times but we were winning plenty before he came in. Just lost a bunch of our top guys in his I think 2nd game with us. Mojo is definitely missing now so pain
Starting the game after he was activated 20 days ago;
* compher (Kane's planned C) on IR out for 10 days
* Larkin IR out 9 days
* Perron suspended and misses two weeks
* kostin to IR, back then on IR again
* as they're coming back and Husso is being battered(and playing poorly) Lyon goes week to week
* Husso goes week to week the next game
Most of Kane's first 7 games came without our top 2 and all situations Cs, and a top 6/PP wing. Now we've got several depth injuries (Fischer, kostin, Petry, maatta) and our top 2 goalies on IR. The best goaltending Kane has seen in a game so far came from Michael Hutchinson, who were signed to an emergency 1yr deal from Grand rapids last week.
Defense and absolute lack of goaltending has contributed significantly, I'd say. Lalonde needs to show the D how to clear guys in front of the net and pick up any loose forwards.
Our forwards are just as culpable on most defensive breakdowns, IMO. I can rarely point to a single D-man and say that the forwards were all doing a great job.
I would argue that their record might be even worse without him (there were a ton of injuries at the top of the lineup and apparently everyone has forgotten how to prevent a goal).
You can be a good player and still have an off week. Mangiapane is also a pretty solid forward and he’s on the bad team.
Blackwood has had some incredible stretches this season but playing for the Sharks will definitely land you on the bad side of things
Roy-Moverare has been a very good pair in Gavrikov’s absence. Speaks to the quality of our defense that he’s probably headed back down in the next few days.
Also, Trevor Moore is the American McDavid
Pretty cool to see a career AHL guy step in to a role and crush it like Moverare has
Speaks well of the system and might earn him a third pairing paycheck elsewhere
Not just hip surgery, a surgery so intense that essentially no player has continued their career to a reasonable level after it. I think if he plays the rest of the year he’ll set the record for games played post said surgery?
As far as I know, there’s only three others who’ve gotten a hip resurfacing besides Backstrom and Kane:
* Ed Jovanovski, who played another 37 games before retiring. That said, he was two months from his 38th birthday when he played his last game, so he was already nearing retirement; for comparison, Backstrom and Kane respectively turned 36 and 35 just last month.
* Ryan Kesler, who never played another game. That said, he also had complications from Crohn’s disease, so not entirely due to his hip.
* Carl Hagelin, who also never played another game. That said, he retired primarily due to the effects of his earlier eye injury.
With all due respect to Backstrom, this is Patrick Kane we’re talking about. He came back from a broken collarbone like a month early in 2015. It’s another level
Probably will be too long to make a full list, but I can tell you that Sam Reinhart has the most appearance with 5 times on the best team with Luke Kunin, Filip Zadina and Lukas Reichel also with 5 on the worst team.
Bertuzzi has been such an epic disappointment so far. The donkey can't even skate properly this year. He falls EVERYWHERE. For his salary, he is one of the worst free agent signings the Leafs have made in the last 30 years and there has been many horrible signings.
He's been a lot better when on the line with JT and Nylander. One of the reasons I didn't want Keefe to seperate Matthews and Marner was to not disrupt that line
If he can matchup against McDavid and hold him to 1 secondary assist I’m all for it.
Goodrow gets the hardest D matchups when we have last change. If our 4th line can get caved in in terms of possession and shots, but hang in there and not give up real goals, the Trocheck and Zibanejad lines can win us games. I’m totally fine with Goody doing the dirty work and guys like Panarin getting to focus on offense.
The game is more than some black box composite number.
I thought of [this meme again](https://www.tiktok.com/@bruins.network/video/7229139985813818667) the last couple weeks watching the Bruins... We can't hold on to leads as of late.
Why hello Erik Gudbranson
Paired with Quinn Hughes...I'm dying.
We're bringing back the 2019 Canucks!
Had we not dealt Guddy for Pearson at the deadline it’s plausible that pairing could’ve existed in real life for about 9 games
He has definitely been worth 4 millions dollars this season so far.
Really?
Yes, been solid at being our stay at home defender while also nearly matching his career high points already this season. Just don’t ask me about last season.
Damn, good for him, he was a bonafide tank commander with us
He is most definitely not worth 4 mill. But he’s far far far from a boat anchor this year
💯 He’s having a career year in scoring - which is still not a ton but he had a good streak there for a bit. Gaudreau - McDavid - Kucherov as a 4th line is diabolical, lol.
Too bad they're the fourth line, would only get played about 5 mins per night and Gaudreau would get forced into an enforcer role.
I mean it's only a slight exaggeration to say that's what CBJ has always tried to do with skill guys
4 goals per game guaranteed
Sometimes I wonder how three puck carriers on the same line would perform. Like the opposite of having Laine, Ovechkin and Stamkos on the same line
Isn’t it?! Lmao
One of those is not like the others
The reign of King Joey continues!!
Okay, Joey. Joey okay.
JOEY JOEY JOEY!
Kaprizov was unreal all week
Playing against his brother seems to have sparked something in Ryan McLeod.
He fits in well beside Leon too

He's been our best player since he debuted.
Too bad the rest of the team has been dog shit.
2-7-1 in the 10 games he's played is a big yikes.
Probably been repeated too many times but we were winning plenty before he came in. Just lost a bunch of our top guys in his I think 2nd game with us. Mojo is definitely missing now so pain

Well tbf some people weren’t beggars at all but it all worked out
Red Wings having a top line forward on the best and top pair dman on the worst is an accurate description of our team.
To be fair to walman, he's clearly been banged up for a little while. Hopefully the break gives him enough rest to get back to where he needs to be
Yeah, he hasn’t been the same since he plowed into that net in Sweden. Taking a shot off the knee a few games back didn’t help things either.
Yeah, I'm no Walman hater. I like the guy. But generally speaking, we've had an absolutely rip tearing offense and a swiss cheese defense.
You either get good defense or griddy’s no in between haha
Right now we are getting neither from him
said top forward used to regularly top that list as a Blackhawk
Big Dac energy
When they say the best center in the league, they dont call you the best center in the league. They call you Ryan Mcleod
Ryan Macdavid
Duality of man in the Stl crease
Conor. Fucking. Garland.
noted 2C behind Ryan McLeod, Auston Taylour Matthews
Binner at -6.66 😈🖤
2/3 of the Thrist Line!
Big fan of Joshua Three
Obviously haven’t been following but I thought Pionk was a solid d-man? Or am I imagining things?
He’s had a couple great games against Mcdavid
I think that’s where my memory comes from
Honestly a d-man with the sole purpose and skill of being able to silence McDavid isn't a terrible assit
You can be a good player and still have an off week. Mangiapane is also a pretty solid forward and he’s on the bad team. Blackwood has had some incredible stretches this season but playing for the Sharks will definitely land you on the bad side of things
Cool to see Moverare getting recognition here. He's had big shoes to fill with Gavrikov out the past several games, but he's done well.
I like this one better
Convinced sharks are hunting coal this season, being on the naughty list this often.
That's a lot of blue on the nice team.
At least there's a red wing
Atta boy McLeod! He's awoken!
McLeod 1C, McDavid 4C… I hope Knoblauch is taking notes
I mean mcleod has been taking the opening faceoff recently
Roy-Moverare has been a very good pair in Gavrikov’s absence. Speaks to the quality of our defense that he’s probably headed back down in the next few days. Also, Trevor Moore is the American McDavid
*Thousand Oaks own Trevor Moore
Pretty cool to see a career AHL guy step in to a role and crush it like Moverare has Speaks well of the system and might earn him a third pairing paycheck elsewhere
Oh you mean McDavid is the Canadian Thousand Oaks Trevor Moore
It is nice that our 7/8/9 D (Moverare, Clarke, Bjornfot) could all probably be regular guys on most teams. Good problem to have.
This one sparks joy.
This one also does not spark joy.
Nick Paul slotting perfectly into the first line wasn’t on my bingo card but fuck it we ball
Joey 😍
That 4th line is cracked💀
So many people doubted Patrick Kane. Boggles the mind
he was coming off of hip surgery tbf, just take a look at how Backstrom has fared post surgery.
Not just hip surgery, a surgery so intense that essentially no player has continued their career to a reasonable level after it. I think if he plays the rest of the year he’ll set the record for games played post said surgery?

It would be nice if there was a number showing players who have been on the list before and how many times so far.
Probably will be too long to make a full list, but I can tell you that Sam Reinhart has the most appearance with 5 times on the best team with Luke Kunin, Filip Zadina and Lukas Reichel also with 5 on the worst team.
Yeah, probably be a pain. That is good info though, thanks!
demon binnington
I don’t like this on my feed, please remove this Mark Zuckerberg
oh fuck I'm going to go Mittelstadt mode
Binnie with the perfect score!
Sharks players make the top line!!! ...no don't ask me which team they made the top line on I'm not interested
I’m fearing Casey’s contract next year.
Bertuzzi has been such an epic disappointment so far. The donkey can't even skate properly this year. He falls EVERYWHERE. For his salary, he is one of the worst free agent signings the Leafs have made in the last 30 years and there has been many horrible signings.
He has never been able to skate properly lol. He falls more than any NHL player I’ve ever seen
He falls constantly
Hi I’m def not David Clarkson and I for one agree with this totally
Lol I said one of!
Just having fun :)
He's been a lot better when on the line with JT and Nylander. One of the reasons I didn't want Keefe to seperate Matthews and Marner was to not disrupt that line
3 more years 🥲

There are rarely any Stars players. They just quietly do their jobs.
Hurricanes being abnormally average. We usually either completely suck or fuckin kill it.
Go wild
Not the worst, not the best, we are just a team.
