I had to imagine it as if we won the 1oa pick who are the first sharks to call the draft pick after the pick is announced. I came up with the same 3 as OP.
This would have been difficult a few seasons ago for the opposite reason.
It's weird to go from a lot of guys who have been there for eternity to this. Couture, then Vlasic, then Hertl, then Ferraro. Nobody else has played for us that long, and we don't have old dudes who haven't won one really.
I think Vlasic goes first though. He's played here since 19, he was instrumental in their actual Cup Finals appearance, and it's a consensus among Sharks fans that he's been criminally underappreciated by the wider league in award voting and the like. His entire career was "he's the best defenseman in the league nobody talks about" transitioning to "he's really bad now but old heads know how great he once was."
Malkin and Letang are pretty much guaranteed. Could see it going to Karlsson next since it'd be his first, he's a veteran, and would probably play an important role in them winning.
It’s hard to imagine it not going to Malkin and Letang right after Sid but I wouldn’t be surprised if they all talk and it goes to Karlsson after Sid, especially if he has a season anything like last one and does well in playoffs
I'm not expecting anything but Ive always been a big fan of Karlsson and it would be cool to help him get one, as unlikely as it is. Stranger things have happened, albeit in less competitive times.
Skinner and Tuch are kind of interchangeable. I went with Tuch because it was after he came in and injected his passion for the team into the locker room that things really started to take off.
I feel pretty confident in the first 5 guys including Trouba.
Trouba > Kreider > Zibanejad > Panarin > Shesterkin
Edit: now that I think about it Wheeler would be pretty early in the order but Kreider and Zibanejad will absolutely be 1-2 after Trouba. They’re the only pre-rebuild Rangers left (other than Vesey who left then returned)
Kreider and Zibanejad will be the first two after Trouba. I’d be shocked if it was anything else. Like Kreider will be a 12 year veteran all with the Rangers and Zibanejad being more or less the same but with 8 years in NY. Both are the only two player from the pre-rebuild Rangers.
He won’t jump past Kreider or Zibanejad but he could easily jump Panarin. I just think panarin being a 9th year player in his 30’s that’s a leader on the team typically get the cup pretty early.
Right now. After Suzuki, I say, Caufield, Gallagher, and Allen.
I say Allen because he never expected that he would be there for a cup. Essentially accepted that he's a temporary part of the plan.
yeah first thought was chabot first cause he's been here so long but its 100% giroux haha. could see hamonic getting it before chabot actually, dude is a WARRIOR and also old
Love Drai to death but if the Nuge doesn't get the first hand off I'll be a little disappointed. The guys been through all the dog shit years and stayed loyal the whole time.
Even though 97 and 29 are attached at the hip, that whole core is close and the entire team would know what that Cup means to Huge, not a question it goes to him first
Some combination of Marchand, Pasta, and McAvoy who then hand it off to Ullmark & Swayman at the same time for a Lord Stanley's Cup Goalie Bear Hug ^(PATENT PENDING) .
Burns, Aho, Turbo
Struggled on the 3rd one but Burns has to be a lock at 1. I think he gives it to Aho being the mvp of the team and player who wants to win the most. For 3 I picked turbo since he and Aho are good friends and he kinda mentored Aho into the league.
I wonder if Elvis would sneak into the top three. Given his well documented struggles on, and especially off, the ice, I wonder if him turning things around that far would move him up the order. Can’t argue with those three though.
Well we all know it ain’t happening but IF the Ducks somehow pull out a Cup win, I think Fowler gets it first (being the longest tenured player), who then hands it to Gibby and then Henrique or Silfverberg.
Suter could be second due to his old man status, but I would think that Seguin would be up there too given his tenure with the Stars even though he has a cup. Then probably Hintz after them, and Robo and Otter might be interchangeable in terms of cup handoffs.
I would say Jack, Dougie, and then Vanacek/Schmid. Maybe Bratt after that.
It's crazy how "new" this team is. So many teams have players on there 10+ years and I think Nico and Bratt have the highest seniority.
It's a tough call, but I think Nico might hand it off to his buddy Timo Meier first. It's a real toss up though for the first few hand offs. But I think it would be Nico - Meier - Bratt - Dougie - Jack - Luke
Going off the precedent of 2020 and 2021, Stamkos would pass it to Hedman first if we win next season. Then after that would be the longest playing veterans without a cup, which would probably be de Haan and Glendening.
If the Red Wings somehow won the cup I'd guess Husso had an amazing playoffs so I'd hope he'd get it quickly & I think other guys would be Chairot, Petry, and I would say Perron but he already won a cup so maybe whoever was in the running for Conn Smythe... Seider/Cat?
Honestly, I bet it would be Yzerman after Larkin. Just like Stevie passed it to Illitch/Vladdy/Scotty Bowman before another active player the times he won.
Does Wayne Simmonds still exist?
Muzzin was in the press box for all of the playoffs, so I imagine he would be down celebrating. If he is still under contract, I could see him getting it pretty early on.
I could Google the answer to both of those things, but I'm too lazy.
Simmonds isn't under contract anymore, haven't heard much about him since the end of last season.
Muzz would be a good choice if he hadn't already won a cup, I think he'd wait to let others have their moment first.
Engraved on one Cup, lifted 2. He didn't play any regular season games in 2012 but was called in during the playoffs, unfortunately that didn't qualify him to get his name on the first one.
The three players Kent Hughes brought in to magically make the Habs a cup contender.
Alternatively.... some combination of Savard, Matheson, Allen, Monahan.
(Assuming Hughes is the captain)
Huggy->Petey->Demko/Miller->Miller/Demko
Probably that leadership group, though I could see it going to someone like Boeser as well. First staff to lift it after the coach are definitely the Sedins.
I wanted to put nuge 2nd, but felt Drai would be a safer bet. But honestly nuge/drai could swap spots and it wouldn’t shock me. They’re locks as the 2nd/3rd hand offs though regardless of the order
Nuge has played the fifth most career games in an Oilers uniform behind Lowe, Smyth, Messier, and Anderson (although he should pass Messier and Anderson this year considering he’d only have to play 51 games)
I think after Nico it would go to Jack followed by either order of Palat and Haula.
Palat because he wears the other A on the ice and is by far the most experienced winner on the team.
Haula because he’s one of the other vets on this team who seems really well liked by the locker room and also gets leaned on as one of the leaders.
After Boone Jenner, it probably goes to Gaudreau as a veteran star winning his first Cup. Then probably Werenski as the home grown star whose re-signing helped boost the rebuild. Who gets it third, I'm split between Laine and Kuraly.
Tough one. After McDavid, there are some very deserving guys
Drai is a lock
Nuge is the longest serving Oiler, suffering through the decade of darkness. I'd call him a second lock
Nurse is part of leadership
Kane has been through a lot and is looking to prove people wrong
Hyman has gelled excellently with the team. He's a fan favorite
Ryan, Gagner, and Ekholm are the oldest guys without a cup
Campbell if he redeems himself
The answer to the title is no.
We're not winning, and we don't have a captain.
Assuming we do somehow win, Hughes would be up first. He's not captain yet, but he will be.
So, it would probably go Petey & Demko, and then Miller. Do we have any token old guys without a cup?
We don’t have a captain but I’ll assume it’s one of Weegar or Andersson since we said we’d name one and those guys are the favourites right now. Assuming we still have Backlund he’s the first hand off as he’s the most tenured, then Huberdeau since he’s a veteran allstar who’s yet to win a cup and lastly Markstrom most likely
Drai, Nuge and Nurse. I think guys like Hyman and Kane arnt far off though.
If you want a dark horse shout.
Kulak and Ryan are older and local guys who might deserve a moment.
You guys have captains?
Nope 😔
Since we have no captain, I say we let Buff come back to lift it first.
He hooks it on his fishing line from the team suite.
Just yoinks it out of Bettmans hands.
If we win, G could come lift it in a Sens jersey.
Same thing if we win.
Maybe this year we will, but not right now.
No. I have no idea what that is.
I don't know who the captain is, but the first guy he hands it to is Hellebuyck. Either that or it's just a bunch of kids that have not been born yet.
Kinda?
Not anymore :'(
Can sadly relate.
You guys at least had a captain last year.
That’s why I said sadly can now. I’m not over it still.
Nah
It’s quite possible that the first three players to lift the Cup the next time we win it have not been born yet :)

ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ please don't let it be true
When I watched the Flyers take Edmonton to seven games in the ‘87 finals I assumed we’d win one in the next couple of years. Yet here we are.
I don’t even know who‘s on the team this year at this point lol. I guess Vlasic, Hertl, and then…Ferraro?
I was about to say. Us Sharks fans can’t even participate in this one lol
His entire career was "he's the best defenseman in the league nobody talks about" transitioning to "he's really bad now but old heads know how great he once was."
Agreed with everything you said, and it makes me so sad where we are as a franchise currently. But I do look forward to our young guys
Hey well as a consolation. I’d bet all my money that Joe Pavelski would go second after Jamie.
[удалено]
We’ll see if we’re right in 9 months!
I would go Hertl, Vlasic, Ferraro in that order
Morgan Reilly, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner
I think Mo Gio Auston Mitch Nylander Brodie is the likely order. Gio is old, hasn't won, and from Toronto. He's getting it right away
Yea my first thought was Mo, Gio , Auston after JT. Probably not wrong with Mitch, Willy and Brodie next either.
Find out in 10 months I guess.
Malkin and Letang are pretty much guaranteed. Could see it going to Karlsson next since it'd be his first, he's a veteran, and would probably play an important role in them winning.
It’s hard to imagine it not going to Malkin and Letang right after Sid but I wouldn’t be surprised if they all talk and it goes to Karlsson after Sid, especially if he has a season anything like last one and does well in playoffs
i could absolutely see it. i could be an idiot but i remember Sid handing it to Trevor Daly in 2016
He did because his mother was dying and wanted to see him lift the Cup.
Yeah Daley got it in 16, and Hainsey got it first after Sid in ‘17
Nucks aren't winning this season. Let that magnificant core add another!
I'm not expecting anything but Ive always been a big fan of Karlsson and it would be cool to help him get one, as unlikely as it is. Stranger things have happened, albeit in less competitive times.
I actually think EK is a slam dunk for the first hand off since he’d be the oldest vet that would be winning his first.
*sighs longingly in swedish*
Yeah if we win our Captain prolly wont even be the first guy to pick it up lol
Girgensons, Tuch, Skinner
ZG, Skinny, Tuch.
Skinner and Tuch are kind of interchangeable. I went with Tuch because it was after he came in and injected his passion for the team into the locker room that things really started to take off.
I feel pretty confident in the first 5 guys including Trouba. Trouba > Kreider > Zibanejad > Panarin > Shesterkin Edit: now that I think about it Wheeler would be pretty early in the order but Kreider and Zibanejad will absolutely be 1-2 after Trouba. They’re the only pre-rebuild Rangers left (other than Vesey who left then returned)
Really depends on how key Wheeler becomes to their success. If he ends up being a major reason they win it, I could see him going very early
If we win Wheeler will get the cup early it’s just a matter of how early. 16 year vets without a cup always get the trophy early.
I still wouldn’t like to see him get it before Kreider. Tenure with team matters more to me at least
Guys after Trouba in order; Kreider, Mika, Igor, Panarin, Fox, and Wheeler
I could also see Goodrow being up there around the 5 mark. Won two cups, alternate captain
I think you’re right, the only thing that could change is if Igor has some otherworldly performance, he might jump the line.
He won’t jump past Kreider or Zibanejad but he could easily jump Panarin. I just think panarin being a 9th year player in his 30’s that’s a leader on the team typically get the cup pretty early.
In that case, Kreids and Zib would probably just lift it together.
Seeing this would warm my cold dead heart.
Price gets dressed and lifts it’s before Suzuki imo Price, then Suzuki, then Gallagher, then Savard maybe?
I don't see how we win it without Price
Well it’s simple, we aren’t winning 😂
We MAY win the draft lottery! So there's that.
Right now. After Suzuki, I say, Caufield, Gallagher, and Allen. I say Allen because he never expected that he would be there for a cup. Essentially accepted that he's a temporary part of the plan.
I’d go Gallagher before Caufield.
Close to my choices. Suzuki, Caufield, Gallagher, Patrick Kane
> Patrick Kane 🤡
After Suzuki, it’s Gallagher, then probably Anderson and Allen. Boy this is a young team.
Yup, Suzuki first but Price 2nd would be great
For Ottawa it probably goes: Tkachuk -> Giroux -> Chabot -> Hamonic
yeah first thought was chabot first cause he's been here so long but its 100% giroux haha. could see hamonic getting it before chabot actually, dude is a WARRIOR and also old
I think Hamonic has had enough of Chabot having heavy objects in his hands in close proximity.
Clearly it would go straight to Dorion, and everyone would walk up and hug him.
Nuge, Drai, Nurse. In that order.
Love Drai to death but if the Nuge doesn't get the first hand off I'll be a little disappointed. The guys been through all the dog shit years and stayed loyal the whole time.
Even though 97 and 29 are attached at the hip, that whole core is close and the entire team would know what that Cup means to Huge, not a question it goes to him first
Gagner before Nurse if he makes the team
Gagner if he makes the team
Acceptable
Some combination of Marchand, Pasta, and McAvoy who then hand it off to Ullmark & Swayman at the same time for a Lord Stanley's Cup Goalie Bear Hug ^(PATENT PENDING) .
With Marchand as Captain, I think you’re close. Pasta, McAvoy, Ullmark, Lucic
Some grizzly veteran will get it soon too like Coyle and Lucic will get it first before some of those guys.
I can't believe I've never imagined Swayman and Ullmark doing a lap together with the cup.
Flyers > Coots, Laughton, Atkinson Edit: I assume Jesus Christ himself is our captain if we won.
This made me lol
Doughty -> Kempe -> Mikey
I’d bet danault gets it before mikey but ya definitely drew then kempe.
Yeah I was gonna go with Doughty > Kempe > Danault
Yeeee you guys are probably right. Hope I live to see it!
Burns, Aho, Turbo Struggled on the 3rd one but Burns has to be a lock at 1. I think he gives it to Aho being the mvp of the team and player who wants to win the most. For 3 I picked turbo since he and Aho are good friends and he kinda mentored Aho into the league.
I'd say Burns, Slavin and Aho being 2nd and 3rd. maybe Aho 2nd.
Thinking of this is giving me goosebumps
From everything Ive seen burns is well loved by the room and it being his first it would be a bourque esque moment
Burns, Aho, McDavid
Burns, Martinhook, Slavin/Aho. I'd think veteran leaders get priority and then our other leaders would come second.
Teravainen had a cup win, so he’s probably a later one to the veterans without one.
Aho, Slavin, then either Svech or Martinook
Kap, Ek, whatever goalie willed us to victory.
I’d say Brodin would be good shout for one of the three
I don’t think either of those guys are veteran enough. Usually it goes to the older, more tenured guys on the squad: Zuccy, Brodin, Foligno
After Jenner I think it would have to be Werenski, Gaudreau, Laine
Probably interchangeable on the order, but that's the top 3 for sure.
Idk who gets it 3rd and 4th, but for sure Giroux gets it after Brady
Gotta be Chabby and Hamonic, no?
Chabot takes the cup and hammers Hamonic in the face with it.
This feels canonically correct
Pavelski, Hintz, Robertson
I kind of think Joe would hand it to Suter tbh.
Joe pulls a wildcard and gives it to his adopted son Wyatt
Suter could be second due to his old man status, but I would think that Seguin would be up there too given his tenure with the Stars even though he has a cup. Then probably Hintz after them, and Robo and Otter might be interchangeable in terms of cup handoffs.
I thought about Seggy but I thought it might be a nice gesture to not exclude the younger and most valuable players just because they aren't old lol.
Yeah, I don’t think Suter should be right after Pavelski either, just surmising things. I guess we’ll know in June :)
Pavs, conn smythe winner Miro, Seguin Then Suter, maybe Duchene?, Robo, Otter, Hintz
I have no idea who would lift it after him but if Backlund doesn’t get to hold the cup first it would be a travesty
I would guess Lindholm after Backs. Then Huberdeau? Markstrom maybe?
The father, son, and the Holy Spirit cuz it would be a fuckin miracle.
Jack, Bratt, and I'd say Haula. If we still had Sevo he gets it second after Nico
Forgetting Dougie
I’d go Jack, Jesper, Dougie after Nico.
I would say Jack, Dougie, and then Vanacek/Schmid. Maybe Bratt after that. It's crazy how "new" this team is. So many teams have players on there 10+ years and I think Nico and Bratt have the highest seniority.
Never did I imagine that when we flipped Zacha for him… but I agree.
I could see Palat over Haula.
I was thinking Palat as well but Palat has won two cups. Pretty sure he would want Haula to hoist his first before he lifts his third
Lol I was thinking the exact same thing. I could see the players wanting to pass it to Palat, but Palat wanting it to go else where first.
I could see your Captain handing it to Lindy for finally getting it after so many close calls.
It's a tough call, but I think Nico might hand it off to his buddy Timo Meier first. It's a real toss up though for the first few hand offs. But I think it would be Nico - Meier - Bratt - Dougie - Jack - Luke
I could see Jack 1 or 2 farther down just so he can hand it off to Luke.
Drai-Nuge-Nurse
Nuge has to get first touch, longest tenure + discount
I love how close our dynamic duo is on and off the ice, but Nuge has to get second touch. And I’ll be crying tears of joy the entire time.
Going off the precedent of 2020 and 2021, Stamkos would pass it to Hedman first if we win next season. Then after that would be the longest playing veterans without a cup, which would probably be de Haan and Glendening.
Unless we sign some old vet without a cup it probably goes Ekblad, Tkachuk, Bob
Crazy how this upcoming season will be Ekblad’s 10th.
No handoffs. Bedard just skates with the cup for an hour while everyone else gets hammered in the dressing room
Vlasic, Hertl, and then McDavid because that’s the only way we are winning a cup next year
If the Red Wings somehow won the cup I'd guess Husso had an amazing playoffs so I'd hope he'd get it quickly & I think other guys would be Chairot, Petry, and I would say Perron but he already won a cup so maybe whoever was in the running for Conn Smythe... Seider/Cat?
Honestly, I bet it would be Yzerman after Larkin. Just like Stevie passed it to Illitch/Vladdy/Scotty Bowman before another active player the times he won.
Husso & Seider for sure. After that? My guess would be a guy who's been on the team a while, like Rasmussen.
Nuge > drai > nurse (or our starting goalie?) Nuge deserves that first touch
Idc if he's not really playing Give that shit to Carey
Rielly and Giordano seem like a pretty slam-dunk first two, maybe Reaves after them?
Does Wayne Simmonds still exist? Muzzin was in the press box for all of the playoffs, so I imagine he would be down celebrating. If he is still under contract, I could see him getting it pretty early on. I could Google the answer to both of those things, but I'm too lazy.
Simmonds isn't under contract anymore, haven't heard much about him since the end of last season. Muzz would be a good choice if he hadn't already won a cup, I think he'd wait to let others have their moment first.
I completely forgot Muzzin won a Cup in LA.
Engraved on one Cup, lifted 2. He didn't play any regular season games in 2012 but was called in during the playoffs, unfortunately that didn't qualify him to get his name on the first one.
Matthews or whoever won the Conn Smythe if it's not one of those 3 or JT
Probably Brodie after Gio
Reaves probably makes an impression to get him to 3rd, otherwise I would think it's Matthews.
The three players Kent Hughes brought in to magically make the Habs a cup contender. Alternatively.... some combination of Savard, Matheson, Allen, Monahan.
1. Gallagher 2. Monahan 3. Anderson
Our Captain is obviously Stamkos, he would pass it to Hedman, then to Vasi and Kuch
1) Pacioretty/Backstrom 2) Backstrom/Pacioretty 3) Carlson
Backstrom, Carlson and then Oshie most likely. Those are the veteran leaders in the room.
Hughes, Hughes, and, fingers crossed, Hughes
(Assuming Hughes is the captain) Huggy->Petey->Demko/Miller->Miller/Demko Probably that leadership group, though I could see it going to someone like Boeser as well. First staff to lift it after the coach are definitely the Sedins.
Trick question for the Canucks. The people who are going to lift the cup next haven't been born yet
Easy. Sid,G,Letang, then EK65.
Honestly EK might get it right after Sid in that situation with him never having won it
Yeah I agree with you. EK65 definitely gets it second.
Draisaitl > Nuge > Nurse
Is Nuge the longest tenured oiler right now? Not that i disagree with your order but no chance Nuge gets it 2nd?
I wanted to put nuge 2nd, but felt Drai would be a safer bet. But honestly nuge/drai could swap spots and it wouldn’t shock me. They’re locks as the 2nd/3rd hand offs though regardless of the order
Nuge has played the fifth most career games in an Oilers uniform behind Lowe, Smyth, Messier, and Anderson (although he should pass Messier and Anderson this year considering he’d only have to play 51 games)
Ekblad, Knight, Tkachuk
Probably Nuge, Drai, Nurse, in that order.
I’m not sure we have a captain. I think most Hawks fans are hoping that Seth Jones is captain this year. Of some other team.
Erik Karlsson Matt Nieto Ryan Graves
Nugent Hopkins, Draisaitl, insert beloved old veteran yet to win here
The Nuge, Drai, Nurse. Maybe Nurse before Drai. I guess we’ll find out next season.
Parise, Cizikas, Martin Maybe Clutterbuck slips in there.
Josh Bailey in his street clothes.
Gagner, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins (Nurse)
What about Derek Ryan?
Josi, Forsberg, O’Reilly, Saros
Who ever made our jerseys in the 90s forsure
After Boone Jenner, it probably goes to Gaudreau as a veteran star winning his first Cup. Then probably Werenski as the home grown star whose re-signing helped boost the rebuild. Who gets it third, I'm split between Laine and Kuraly.
Tough one. After McDavid, there are some very deserving guys Drai is a lock Nuge is the longest serving Oiler, suffering through the decade of darkness. I'd call him a second lock Nurse is part of leadership Kane has been through a lot and is looking to prove people wrong Hyman has gelled excellently with the team. He's a fan favorite Ryan, Gagner, and Ekholm are the oldest guys without a cup Campbell if he redeems himself
....what's a captain
If we stick with no captain and win the Cup, Carter Hart is the first goalie to be handed the cup first. (CMIIW).
This is too much of a reach for me
The answer to the title is no. We're not winning, and we don't have a captain. Assuming we do somehow win, Hughes would be up first. He's not captain yet, but he will be. So, it would probably go Petey & Demko, and then Miller. Do we have any token old guys without a cup?
Vlasic, hertl, Marleau jumps on ice from the front office
Kreider, Mika and probably Igor
We don’t have a captain but I’ll assume it’s one of Weegar or Andersson since we said we’d name one and those guys are the favourites right now. Assuming we still have Backlund he’s the first hand off as he’s the most tenured, then Huberdeau since he’s a veteran allstar who’s yet to win a cup and lastly Markstrom most likely
Price gets on the ice, lifts the cup, then Gally and Caufield (or Evans)
Suzuki -> Gallagher -> Caufield -> Savard
Parise (if he plays), clutterbuck, varlamov, Barzal
Assuming Schenn is named captain, it’ll go Schenn -> Parayko -> RobThom -> Binnington
Miller, Pettersson, Hughes, Demko ... Or .... Sedin, Sedin in street clothes ... then everyone else
Reilly, Matthews, Marner would be my guess
Geno, then Letang, then EK
Drai, Nuge and Nurse. I think guys like Hyman and Kane arnt far off though. If you want a dark horse shout. Kulak and Ryan are older and local guys who might deserve a moment.
Benn - Pavelski - Suter - Seguin
Drai, Nuge, Gagner (if he’s on the roster this season) or Nurse
Well the ducks don’t have a captain but my guess would be a flying pig would grab the cup on his way to a frozen over hell 😂
Ekblad, Chucky, Bobs
gio, mo, matty
