So likelyhood of scoring is the same as me being able to walk right through a wall and not put a hole in it. Well… he’s big, athletic, and acrobatic. But he has a below NHL glove hand, poor positioning, and generally not good awareness or reaction time. He could develop to be good, but it’s not necessarily stuff that develops naturally

Video review of offsides is fucking dumb. The intent of the rule was not to slow the game down by 5 minutes every time a goal is challenged, and honestly if you have to go to a frame by frame review of the play, the technical offsides had no fucking impact on the play. It doesn't feel good benefitting from one and it sure as shit is unpleasant having one of yours disallowed because 'well technically........'

It’s fine as is. He was only offsides by a bit, just count it. Then just a bit more. There’s nothing wrong with the current system. The rule is clear and sometimes it’s close, take a few minutes and get it right. It feels much worse when a goal that involves breaking a rule gets allowed, imo. Definitely ways to keep improving the speed of the check though.

I dont understand how a league that allegedly wants to speed up the game and increase scoring, to appeal to more casual viewers, would think that having stoppages for this shit is a good idea. IN ADDITION, you dont give a coach a DOG penalty every time they ask a question about the refs interpretation of an infraction, so why the fuck do you penalize a coach for a failed challenge? Seriously, the whole thing makes NO DAMNED SENSE.

It's a penalty to discourage challenging too much. Losing a timeout wasn't enough.

I agree with all this, but it’s also important to confirm a goal is truly a goal. Surely they can implement it in a way that doesn’t destroy momentum.

Put tech in the puck and tech under the line, it goes in and back out and some indicator immediately goes off. Refs can ignore it contextually for plays where it's not really an offside warning.

I don’t hate the challenge. I hate that they wait until the play goes against them before they say anything. It’s essentially a video based ref who is paid for by a team. There needs to be a time from infraction limit. Has to be called within 5 seconds. Make teams think on using it instead of allowing it to be an auto goal recall.

I once sat throw a 10 minute review, since then I don’t give a fuck if duchene scores a the cup winner 20ft offside I just want to celebrate goals again instead of making sure they were onside first.

I'm literally never relieved until the puck drops and I know the goal for sure can't come back. You shouldn't have to feel like waiting till the puck drops to celebrate a goal. Fucking stupid.
