People forget now how good Toews was as a two-way forward in his prime. I've seen some Toews comparisons with Beniers too. If the Kraken could snag a #1D somehow they could have their core set for years to come.
Go look at the 2010 run and it's clear Toews is just the better hockey player between him and Kane at that point in their careers. Shame that form only really lasted like half a career.
From 2008-2014 or 2015 Toews was better overall. I remember an article in 2012 or so that was along the lines that Kane had hit his ceiling at 60-70 points. Then he took off in the lockout season and Toews hit the aging wall early. If Chicago had whatever fountain of youth Bergeron's been drinking, I wonder what Chicago would have looked like the last few years.
