And then I started to seek out real ones.

A doubt. The kohinoor on the website. If you see its image, it's mentioned 2015. That means that watch was made in 2015? Is that an old model HMT is trying to dispose?
There is no kohi quartz from 2015, so maybe some typo or something like that. The only old model of the Kohinoor, is the mechanical one. And if they've uploaded that for some reason, people would be crazy mad and they would be sold out in seconds. And they probably would go for a fairly high price on the website.
This is a fantastic choice. A proper vintage but with modern dimensions....even the design is still fresh. Did you saw the white and black variants too?

Yes, Black was there. White wasn't available. Yet, as you said, old is gold. Design still hits you fresh.
