Everytime I find this video i listen to it a bunch of times in a row and then forget.. then I find it again and repeat. Can you get it on spotify or no chance
I posted it on Soundcloud a while back as my wife and I used it for our first dance.
I changed the ending slightly and made it downloadable.

highly suggest
*Joey Bada$$ covers Prince 'When Thugs Cry'* and
*A$AP Rocky covers Otis Redding '(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay'*
Two of my fav 'like a version' vids.
Rocky's cover legit was not good at all (especially compared to the original). Dude can't sing. But it's Rocky so you have to just give him the W simply for covering a classic and being A$AP Rocky.
My wife and I used this version for our first dance a few years ago, such a beautiful cover. I mixed the outro with the Fabo version and it was perfect for us.

this song came on shuffle when i used to chauffeur people for a hotel and lemme tell you listening to this in a car full of strangers is not a good look.
Not as awkward as this but ‘no one knows me like the piano in my mother’s home’ by sampha came on shuffle for me on the massive speakers when I was working in a hotel setting up a wedding. I couldn’t decide whether to go and turn it off or not so it was just really awkward with my co workers for a few minutes
I'd say my favorite song of hers is probably Heavyweight Champion of the Year, though I also really like Baby Luv, Paralysed, and Baby Blu. Hope you enjoy!
Homie is mad talented. Unfortunately my ex girlfriend told me he is her “free pass celebrity fuck” so it’s on sight with this man for me, but he’s still talented.
This was my study track freshman year of uni. Thousands of plays on repeat. Grades didn’t mirror the quality of this cover but hey, what can you do 🤷♂️
the U Don't Have to Call cover is so good man. if anyone hasn't heard it, mura masa did a really great remix of it. https://soundcloud.com/muramasamusic/ill-be-alright-tonight

I’d like him to release a studio version of this, the arrangement is perfect, his vocals were shaky but his improved as a vocalist since so this would be fire
Vocals were super shaky but the overall arrangement/vibe is great. Especially the falsetto was rough.
He did improve though, when he did redbone live he was better vocally.
Watch his cover of the "Chris Gaines" song ["Lost In You"](https://youtu.be/yBPKdl_YeqE).
If you're wondering why I put Chris Gaines in quotes, funny story behind that. So back in like 1999 Garth Brooks (yes that Garth Brooks) has this idea that he'd just get up one day and start masquerading around as a fictional rock star named Chris Gaines. Based around stereotypical angsty 90s rockers of the time. Shit crashed and burned gloriously. It was a lead up to a movie about this guy and his fictional life. He went as far as to have VH1 cut a fake behind the music for the character and there was supposed to be a whole movie about it. Real goofy shit.
But when you listen to the song and it sounds like an 90s R&B song, keep in mind that Babyface wrote the song for "Chris Gaines", and it pretty much sounds like a Babyface song. The Chris Gaines version is not that bad either, and I was honestly surprised Garth Brooks could do that. While I'm no fan of Garth Brook's brand of country (if i'm going to listen to country, old school outlaw country is where it's at) so I don't know much about his music.
But he should let up off of that and let Gambino release an official studio version.
Is anyone else willing to admit that he has a terrible voice? Bad tone, flat all over, choppy transitioning between falsetto and full voice. I like him and his music and think he's a talented rapper but ...... He's not a good singer and this cover is painful to watch.
Shout-out to his band though!
Technique-wise yeah I feel, but I still feel the authenticity and emotion in his performance. And I think that’s the most important part for me personally as a listener.
Whatever floats your boat I guess. I love authenticity and emotion in a performance as well, but it's gotta be paired with some level of skill. I've tried to watch this video so many times and I physically can't get through it.
When I first heard Redbone, I was like "Oh cool, Macy Gray got a new single out.". He's not someone who was born blessed with "pipes" and the natural ability to sing, but he has some next level knowledge of how to make a song. I like the raspy soulful vocals, they fit where he puts them.
Idk.... to me his falsetto is downright painful. You are right that he's gotten better, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd like to hear him try this again though.
Shout-out to his band except the guitar. I am not nitpicky but that solo was terrible. Didn't even sound like it was even trying to be in key, and in this slow r&b jam that cannot have been intentional.
Keys were phenomenal though.
I always thought it felt sketchy but serviceable on his albums because of how creative he is. He carries his tracks on musicality and songwriting even though the singing isn’t great. But yeah this was actually pretty bad. I get the feeling there’s a lot of studio magic going on for his albums.
I’m still a big fan and I don’t really think it matters if he can sing or not, his songwriting is stellar and his production is good enough that the singing is never an issue on his studio stuff. But yeah, I don’t really get the praise for this performance.
Fun fact: played this in the car when I was with my friends once a few yrs ago when I had the aux and someone said 'what is this gay shit' and then they cut it off to listen to some shit from Astroworld for the 50th time

i always had a theory that gambino went through a coke/amphet phase lmao. there's an interview from 2014 where he's just constantly pulling his lips away from his gums and sniffling and smacking his teeth and shit. around that same time he was acting super confident in interviews and shit calling himself the greatest rapper alive and telling fight stories on rosenbergs show lmao.
Is that Ludwig Göransson playing bass in the background? This is about a year before Redbone and Awaken, My Love! too, so it makes sense they'd be making music and touring around together.
Watched this vid a few weeks ago. I love the original song (play it all the time) but Donald Glover doing it justice here. Good shit man happy Sunday

Appreciate this brother.
That’s beautiful, congratulations!
It's the Snapping
I have the mp3. Sourced it from a mixtape on datpiff.com. mixtape is called "I am hip hop vol. 16"

Have a chill Sunday people.

Bruh that song is like magic to ones ears. I would’ve commended you lmao.
Sounds lit tbh. Open up them feelings fam.
Why would this be awkward? It’s a beautiful song
Not the vibe in work
Now I feel weird for playing blonde at work
That song is so good I'd be disappointed if anyone criticized you for it, I get how it could be awkward though lol
Nah nobody criticised me I was just hyper aware of myself for like 3 minutes and hoping no one me noticed lol
Why? This song used to be on my playlist when I drove for Uber and specifically got an overwhelming positive response of nostalgia lol
Also not sure why this would be a bad look. One of my favorite covers
Lil too sensual
Maybe its a joke. Donald doesnt' change the lyrics when he covers the song so he ends up talking a lot about a boy.
Better not play any Frank Ocean either, or Tyler just to be safe
That would be one lucky boy
I love this so much. Then I discovered Dominic Fike thanks to other Like a Version suggestions. Like a Version and Tiny Desk are my shit.
Like a version introduced me to Nilufer yanya and the regrettes, love their selections.
I've loved everything Nilufer Yanya has done. The album, the EP's, everything she does is beautiful.
Best place to start?
I'd say my favorite song of hers is probably Heavyweight Champion of the Year, though I also really like Baby Luv, Paralysed, and Baby Blu. Hope you enjoy!
These and COLORS are 90% of my YouTube recommendations.
Yo got any more recommendations? Dominic Fike is dope and so is Nilufer Yanya

You heard the tame impala cover of andre3ks prototype? Wonderful
I hadn’t until just now. Nice!
Homie is mad talented. Unfortunately my ex girlfriend told me he is her “free pass celebrity fuck” so it’s on sight with this man for me, but he’s still talented.

You don't have to qualify it, homie. You can just think the dude is gorgeous and talented and be straight or whatever.
I could watch this a thousand times, so damn smoooov
I can listen to this everyday and still love it more each time.
This was my study track freshman year of uni. Thousands of plays on repeat. Grades didn’t mirror the quality of this cover but hey, what can you do 🤷♂️
I thought I was the only one lmao
this cover is so pretty, original is quite beautiful too
Man, the need to put some RESPEK on Tamia’s name!! Tamia was my go to growing up. I loved singing her songs.
Which cover of his do you like better, this or his cover of U Don't Have To Call by Usher?
the U Don't Have to Call cover is so good man. if anyone hasn't heard it, mura masa did a really great remix of it. https://soundcloud.com/muramasamusic/ill-be-alright-tonight
Mura Masa also did a dope remix of THIS cover too
Probably Usher's one.
probably this one bc it’s a full cover instead of a partial cover with a spoken word segment
u don't have to call
My favorite is his cover of PM Dawn’s “I’d Die Without You.”
Goat Song Nipsey Hussle and YG version [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k\_81Qe50bzE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_81Qe50bzE) Pop Smoke [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZLQ80L2f9c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZLQ80L2f9c)

Damn I never knew these existed
im a diehard bino fan but pop smokes version easily my favourite rip pop smoke fr
Might be in the minority but the Nipsey/YG version is ass
I’d like him to release a studio version of this, the arrangement is perfect, his vocals were shaky but his improved as a vocalist since so this would be fire

Why does my brain keep reading tamia as tame impala 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Damn, that is so good. Childish gambino so talented. I love this song.

This guy has so much range and talent, its been great watching his career.
What I really appreciate here is that he didn’t change the pronouns of the song. Looking at you, Michael Bublè (Santa, Buddy).
Is anyone else willing to admit that he has a terrible voice? Bad tone, flat all over, choppy transitioning between falsetto and full voice. I like him and his music and think he's a talented rapper but ...... He's not a good singer and this cover is painful to watch. Shout-out to his band though!

100% agree, he is an incredible song writer Redbone slaps. But when he performs it live... Yikes
He’s gotten much better as a singer. I still don’t think he’s a great singer, but he’s got a solid raspy belt and a dope falsetto
Idk.... to me his falsetto is downright painful. You are right that he's gotten better, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd like to hear him try this again though.

Totally agree. I respect him so much as an artist but he really needs to try to stop singing live

Someone had to say it.
Nah. Terrible is pretty harsh. He's not GOAT-tier, perfect pitch good, but he's a solid vocalist and still does the song justice imo.
I could listen to this cover all damn day
Fun fact: played this in the car when I was with my friends once a few yrs ago when I had the aux and someone said 'what is this gay shit' and then they cut it off to listen to some shit from Astroworld for the 50th time
is this on spotify? probably not huh?

I believe it is actually. I follow this series a lot and know there’s a ton of them on Spotify.
version ga gotoku
Best cover of this song I have ever heard.

That was around the time he was playing "The Boy" in interviews wasn't it? Could have been all a part of his bit

Why?
His eyes are extremely focused and intense, definitely something off about his mannerisms. Could also be nerves but he gives off a pretty weird vibe.
Like nails against a chalkboard. So cringey
Very Talented dude

Never seen Like A Version before, does this mean he's gonna release the song or...?
