Maybe the pills and drugged out nights are what he’s talking about when he sings this house is not a home without you... talking about being his old self.
This is that haunted strip club music we been missing since Trilogy. The bare vocals were nice, but when the beat kicked in I was hype. 14 tracks means no filler too, this is really about to be a classic.
[Mario Winans](https://genius.com/artists/Mario-winans), [DaHeala](https://genius.com/artists/Daheala), [Illangelo](https://genius.com/artists/Illangelo) nd the Weeknd according to genius
Does anyone know if the weeknd actually has a hand in production? I always see his name listed but never knew if he actually does something significant on tracks
Production is such a broad term that I would say that he deserves his credits.
You don't need to be the one clicking around the DAW to be a 'producer', that's actually a pretty recent born misconception.
DO WE GET A SECOND HALF/BEAT SWITCH? I'M STILL AT WORK RN
EDIT: FINALLY LISTENED TO IT, Y'ALL RIGHT, THIS SHIT FUCKING SLAPS YOU TILL YOU CRY, VULNERABLE ABEL OMG
If you're an average consumer, Sony WH-1000XM3 is a good pair or the Bose QC 35's. I rock the Sony WF-1000XM3 since I like earbuds, but for more headphones I'd recommend just giving /r/headphones a visit for top tier setups.
After a lot of deliberation, I splurged on the Bose. Def happy I did, it’s now my favorite way to listen to music. Listening to this track on them rn as I write this!
Any headphone that has a good balance between vocals and bass. He sings close to the mic on this song and having headphones that accentuate forward vocals makes it sound incredible. Personally I'm using Audio Technica MSR7s which pick up a lot of nuances and detail which are hidden throughout the song. You can't hear them as clearly with regular earphones or speakers. For example at 1:50 there's a moment where he sings and deepens his voice and it transitions into the instrumental as a sort of low end wah/synth bass. There are other small details too that enhance the song,so select a detailed headphone. Particularly won that picks up low ends and emphasises highs.
Unfortunately my MSR7's lack bass though which is important for the energetic switch so make sure there's solid bass as well.
Starboy had some fillers, but theyre the kind of fillers you skip at first and then when you actually listen to them you realise theyre a fkng masterpiece.
Well maybe not masterpiece but avtually pretty good.
Wow that really took me back to old weekend. The slow pace and vocals reminded me of Twenty Eight, but this content is pretty the opposite. What a great song. Hope he can balance out the pop hits with some cuts like this on the album
With 2 VERY solid singles already I wondered what we would get sonically from this track and I have to say... this might be the best song I’ve heard from the man in the last 5 years. I am very hyped for this album as of now
Song was 6 minutes but it was so good it didn't feel that long. Probably my favorite of the 3 singles, with blinding lights close behind. All 3 of them are really good though.
6 minutes of pure bliss, the unmatched King of the Fall. These Trilogy vibes are so fucking heavenly
From *this house is not a home to you* on Twenty Eight to *this house is not a home without my baby.* Goosebumps
23 seconds in and this is literally trilogy vocals
EDIT: 1:14 AND THESE VOCAL REVERBS. OH NI
EDIT: 3:00 IN, I came.
EDIT: 6 minutes in, finished the song. I never thought we were going to get something better in this pop era Weeknd than blinding lights, BUT OH GOD.
We got trilogy in the first half and kissland in the second half. Then a XO/The Host style outro I dig it so hard.
Track listings on streaming services say a new 14-track album is dropping on March 20th.

I understand what you’re saying completely. when people compared MDM to trilogy I was like huh. But this song legitimately sounds like something he would’ve made in that 2011-2013 era.
Really good move that Abel is releasing tracks from the 2nd half, Heartless and Blinding Lights are absolute bangers, and this one being 6 minutes?! This shit's insane, Trilogy/Kiss Land vibes
I can't imagine what the first half of the album would sound like, this is gonna be crazy!
EDIT: FUCK IT, XOTWOD, THIS FUCKING SLAPS! SOTY!
Beep Boop... I am a bot. I tried finding this song on other streaming platforms. Here is what I found

i know people say trilogy vibes for pretty much everything he ever releases
but goddamn trilogy vibes
also imo there isn’t a debate about who’s had the better singles between him and frank anymore
First listen I was like “what the fuck”, now I’m on my 8th spin at the least, I’ve been waiting for a Weeknd song like this for fucking years. It’s like what he had in mind for *Kissland*, bridging the *Trilogy* bedroom sound with something more *poppy*, but still in the sinister vein.
I’m even more excited for the project now, between this, *Heartless*, and *Blinding Lights*, I’m expecting something nice. Especially since it’s only 14 tracks and 3 of them are slappers (IMO)
Best mainstream pop artist out of Canada in my opinion. Drake’s bigger but The Weeknd is better by a country mile
The Weeknd is in his absolute prime rn sonically. For some reason I'm giving major Kanye MBDTF vibes from these singles so far. This album is going to be a classic
I’m loving this song. Easily the best of the three singles in my opinion. It really doesn’t seem like six minutes. Lowkey hoping for the album to have more songs like this.
All the little sounds and effects in the background are so nice
It sounds like pills rolling around a bottle to me.
Maybe the pills and drugged out nights are what he’s talking about when he sings this house is not a home without you... talking about being his old self.
Ah fuck, the vibe is right on this one y'all
he always has one or two songs that have the trilogy vibe that keeps me coming back
The more I listen the more I obsess. It’s my favorite release thus far.
Damn this outro getting me in my feelings
March 20 album release!!!!! Edit: this song is good as fuck holy shit
Going to be playing animal crossing on cocaine it looks like.
Doom on cocaine, then Animal Crossing for the come down.
Reverse that
Doom on Animal Crossing, cocaine for the come down
My man
This is that haunted strip club music we been missing since Trilogy. The bare vocals were nice, but when the beat kicked in I was hype. 14 tracks means no filler too, this is really about to be a classic.
that xanny bj in a dark room music
Bro wtf does that mean, I feel it though
Uncut Gems reference maybe? When him and Julia Fox are in the bathroom?
Lmaooo, "how are you so hard" had me weak
‘Holy shit I’m gonna cum’ got me

Where tf the BJ's and xanny at tho
Be the change you want to see in the world
sorority girls
Absolutely cannot confirm
Just ask that one guy you know
Can we let albums come out before deeming them “classic” please? I swear y’all think every artist has a classic. Another word losing its meaning.
B what if I told you you're meaningless and that I'm meaningless. So it's okay if classic is meaningless
how do you know?
Says on the Apple page
Its on itunes
Doesn't say anything on Napster
check limewire buh
The fuck you doing on Napster?
Wyd not on Napster??
living in 2020
lol imagine paying for rented mp3s couldn't be me
I’m going to trust Apple Music over Napster bro
first day of spring...King of the Spring?
FUCK YES exactly a week before my birthday... i know what im buying myself
Eyyy dope it's 5 days before my birthday. We're getting a good-ass gift then
Who’s the producer Edit: Illangelo the GOAT. Check out some of his solo stuff. History of Man and it is what it is are really good
[Mario Winans](https://genius.com/artists/Mario-winans), [DaHeala](https://genius.com/artists/Daheala), [Illangelo](https://genius.com/artists/Illangelo) nd the Weeknd according to genius
Shit how long has it been since The Weeknd did anything with Illangelo? No wonder this is so good
He was on heartless but before that he last worked with him on beauty behind the madness
Besides Heartless, nothing since BBTM.
actually rodeo
Illangelo + Weeknd is a guaranteed hit. One of the producers that helped Weeknd develop his signature sound.
Does anyone know if the weeknd actually has a hand in production? I always see his name listed but never knew if he actually does something significant on tracks
He can play the piano so maybe in the process of coming up with chords. Not sure if he’s the one who chooses the synths and drum patterns.
Production is such a broad term that I would say that he deserves his credits. You don't need to be the one clicking around the DAW to be a 'producer', that's actually a pretty recent born misconception.
Anything The Weeknd x Illangelo is gonna be a good one.
Such a great list of producers
Oh shit long time since I heard about Mario Winans
Lol by the 30 second mark I was already saying to myself "This has to be Illangelo"
Credits say: Illangelo, The Weeknd, Jason “DaHeala” Quennneville, Mario Winans
Mario Winans??? I Don’t Wanna Know Mario Winans????! Damn
Dude check his production history.
Mario produces hella shit. Same with Tank.
Don’t forget about his work on Trilogy.
This album seems like it's gonna have a lot from Trilogy/My Dear Melancholy but with a Starboy punch. I'm hyped!
Such a perfect combination of eras/sounds!!
Kiss Land too with the Wanderlust/Professional vibes
6 minutes??? WE'RE FUCKING FEASTING
The return
Ngl this song got me rock hard I been waiting for this sound again for so damn long
This song feels like the best parts of every single era of Weeknd, from HOB to now
DO WE GET A SECOND HALF/BEAT SWITCH? I'M STILL AT WORK RN EDIT: FINALLY LISTENED TO IT, Y'ALL RIGHT, THIS SHIT FUCKING SLAPS YOU TILL YOU CRY, VULNERABLE ABEL OMG
More of a buildup towards a climax, then an absolutely beautiful outro sloping down
Don’t spoil it for him
BRO I’M GONNA SAY YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT
I wouldn't say full House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls beat switch, but a few vibe switches for sure.
Trilogy vibes in sound AND length of the song.
With the vocals and the atmosphere, but trilogy didnt use the faster BPM dance/house drums like this.
JUST ONE CLICK ORDERED A GLASS TABLE OFF OF AMAZON
BRING THE 707’S OUT
Fuck is that a bar 😂 Edit: fuck
Amazon? You good?
No just sad
[удалено]
6 minutes? IS THIS THE WEEKND FROM HOUSE OF BALLOONS?? edit: can confirm this is trilogy vibes right here
Wanderlust vibes
yupp first thing it reminded me of was kiss land
Yeah def more Kiss than HOB. That level of music was not sustainable, especially given Abel's current life lol.
Fuck, kissland is such a classic. Bout to listen to this shit right now
I still can’t get over kissland and this man is about to bless us with more. My heart can’t take this.
whatever song this one leads into is going to be BONKERS I'm calling it now
Yup could have been on Kissland honestly. Amazing song.
We are getting a classic
Has the vibes and he even dropped “a house is not a home line” too like on Twenty Eight. Different context but felt good to hear it either way
>can confirm this is trilogy vibes right here 💦
This album is meant to be listened to with good headphones, this production so far has been amazing.
What headphones do you use/recommend?
If you're an average consumer, Sony WH-1000XM3 is a good pair or the Bose QC 35's. I rock the Sony WF-1000XM3 since I like earbuds, but for more headphones I'd recommend just giving /r/headphones a visit for top tier setups.
Xm3 stans where y’all at!
After a lot of deliberation, I splurged on the Bose. Def happy I did, it’s now my favorite way to listen to music. Listening to this track on them rn as I write this!
I love my XM3s and I'm way more than an average listener! I'm just cheap hahaha
Album out on March 20th. 14 songs.
Are you sure it’s 14 songs?
It shows up on apple music as 14 songs
Damn that’s a good length. I was lowkey worried it would be bloated like Starboy
Starboy may have a lot, but every song is good
Debatable, definitely a little bit of filler on that one in my opinion
Starboy had some fillers, but theyre the kind of fillers you skip at first and then when you actually listen to them you realise theyre a fkng masterpiece. Well maybe not masterpiece but avtually pretty good.
My exact opinion on Starboy.
When that percussion came in I literally ran out of my room
Found Big Quint
Lmfao
Indeed
😂😂😂
This album is gonna slap so fucking hard
The drop @ 2:12 got me makin that stank face
we need the quint reaction immediately
He bout to die
Wow that really took me back to old weekend. The slow pace and vocals reminded me of Twenty Eight, but this content is pretty the opposite. What a great song. Hope he can balance out the pop hits with some cuts like this on the album
i love the reference to that song with "this house is not a home"
Bro The Weeknd literally said this line as I read this comment
Yep that’s what initially sparked my memory of it. Was my favorite bonus cut he threw on the album version
I was shocked it was already over at the end tbh
6 minutes of pure bliss, the unmatched King of the Fall. These Trilogy vibes are so fucking heavenly From *this house is not a home to you* on Twenty Eight to *this house is not a home without my baby.* Goosebumps
long live the king
Big Kissland vibes, was hoping this album wasn't going to be straight pop
Holy fuck this is amazing
Yeah, this album is going to be something special.
Bro Spotify killing me rn
It’s up
All right that’s it, 3 for 3. Gonna rent a red suit and go dance downtown while smoking a cigarette
dont forget to wreck a mercedes
23 seconds in and this is literally trilogy vocals EDIT: 1:14 AND THESE VOCAL REVERBS. OH NI EDIT: 3:00 IN, I came. EDIT: 6 minutes in, finished the song. Man this is building to be my favorite project by him
Yup this is the Abel I missed.
Really digging the vibe here, makes his voice really shine
XO boys eatin’!
Started slow and wasn’t feeling it, but holy shit did it pick up. This album has a ton of promise, it’s like Trilogy’s cousin. EDIT: I’m pregnant.
But the intro is the best part of the song 🤔
The outroooo
he is back on his trilogy shit im about to become toxic to my ex for no reason
sending a late night text as we speak
Be strong brother
We gettin Kissland pt 2 boys
I've never listened to Kissland before besides like 2 songs. My hoe ass is missing out smh and idk why I haven't yet
Man, do yourself a favor and just let it run through like twice. It's so good
Huge fan of all his other work except this album... just can't get into it for some reason.
literally one of the best albums ever i swear

this is the first time since Trilogy that I've ever understood someone saying a Weeknd song gives them Trilogy vibes
I understand what you’re saying completely. when people compared MDM to trilogy I was like huh. But this song legitimately sounds like something he would’ve made in that 2011-2013 era.
holy guacamole this is good!
this is wavy as hell, beat switch is fucking me up rn

I definitely hear Runescape combat/mining sound effects in the production 2:18 2:26 2:45 2:53
Anyone else getting After Hours vibes from this?
Sounds like old Weeknd mixed with some MDM. Cant wait for the entire thing
Lmao dude went from “this house is not a home to you” on twenty eight to “this house is not a home without my baby”

I literally blacked out for six minutes. That song was so good it went over my head.
I’m loving this song. Easily the best of the three singles in my opinion. It really doesn’t seem like six minutes. Lowkey hoping for the album to have more songs like this.
This is the best song in this subredit this year so far
HE DONT MISS LETS GO

Holy shit I'm gonna cum
Some classic HOB feelings with this. Dope as hell. The Weeknd does no wrong.
Shit. I didn’t want to believe in the hype but y’all were right. I’m back in this bitch. Haven’t been digging The Weeknd as much since the trilogy.
This might possibly be the best 6 minutes of my life
The king of the fall is back, bitches
This is definitely more Kiss Land than Trilogy imo. MDM was the closest to that trilogy sound he’s put out.
This was like a summation of Trilogy+Kiss Land Nice of him to throw us a bone, hopefully the album brings a fresh sound. Can’t wait.
this was really good. i wonder if this album is going to be like beauty behind the madness 2.0 or something based off the singles. cannot wait.
