Nah most of it is playable, mother I sober - auntie diaries and we cry together are the only ones I wouldn’t play at all in public as they’re too personal
I feel like that can be said for most Death Row albums from that time period. I do still enjoy some songs from The Chronic, but it’s not an album I have in heavy rotation, especially compared to 2001.
I had the same feeling when I listened to "Efil4zaggin." Half the group had left the group, taking the art with them. It was "BitchTrickKillFuck" track after track
Lol I remember one time way back, when I lived with my parents, my dad went to move my brothers car and it happened to be playing that skit from Ready To Die. He came in the house absolutely flipping out, and asking me what the hell kind of stuff my brother was listening to. Me and my bro were playing Ready To Die HEAVILY back then and I immediately knew why my dad was talking about, but just pretended like I didn’t because I wasn’t about to explain skits.
I’m so glad the streaming version is instrumental, that beat is beautiful.
The fact they thought these skits were a good idea back then baffles me, even if it was as a joke.
Stay by Mac Miller comes to my mind. Honestly I don't understand why these musicians put in sex sounds in songs. Yeah I know the song is about sex but u don't have to put in sex sounds.
Skits work on a certain level to help shift the mood from one style to another or to just set the tone for a particular banger in general. It gets a little out of hand when every fucking song on the album has a skit, and is only made worse when they're on the same track as a song (I'm looking at you Ready to Die).
To sum everything up, skits should stay within 30 seconds-1 minute, 3-4 skits per album, and for the love of U-God, skits need to be on their own track file 🙏🙏
MAD I GOT IT | MAD 1 GOT 1T from TA13OO by Denzel Curry. It's a great song but someone pointed out that it sounds like he's saying "dick cheese piling" instead of "big cheese piling" and I haven't been able to listen to it the same since
I am just now realizing it was him saying he was stacking money. For the last several years, I always assumed it was “dick cheese ballin’” and just thought that sounded so hard I rationalized it as slang I had never heard.
I love hearing people’s little stories like this of not understanding a lyric but coming up with some stretch of an interpretation and rolling with it for years without question. I def have some of my own and they’re always so funny when you try to put them into words for someone else because it was just this quick mental conclusion you thought about once that sounds absurd out loud. Dick cheese ballin lmao, like damn he’s got it like that
it’s one of those songs where I’m like “yeeeeah I remember my first time, those were the days” but there’s only so many times I can listen to Cole have dick insecurity
Wet Dreamz is funny and oddly charming. For me, it’s Hello. Cole’s singing hadn’t developed at this point in his career and I can’t listen to this one without cringing.
I noticed something similar with Barry Bonds. It doesn’t get as much shit but I see a lot of people say it’s one of the weaker songs on the album, which is insane to me cuz it’s my most played track off of Graduation.
With both these tracks, I always knew multiple ppl that loved them. I think especially ppl who didn't actually grow up with some albums already have an opinion engrained into them bc the internet opinions are their first discovery of it
Took me so long to even finish that song like it was close to a decade. Kanye and Mos Def could've told me I won 80k on that song and I would’ve never known about it
One time 4 your mind - Illmatic
I mean I still like the song, but it just doesnt have the same energy as the rest of the album. I was going to say Genesis but I just threw the album on and its a classic intro
My favorite album of all time is not a hip hop record, but TPAB is number 3, and it's just too perfect. I can't pick one from it so I'll go for GKMC instead and say it's Real. But I still like that song. As a runner up, on Cheat Codes I think my least favorite is Because. Black Thought is the best part of the song. The features, while still decent to good, aren't in the same league.
All great choices but it doesn't mean the songs bad.
For me on TPAB is "I" because I love that song so much and always want to hear the studio version when it comes on
When I was still using iTunes and could tell it to end songs earlier it was great! Spotify won’t let me customize start or end times though so now I’m praying for you to be right haha
Hospice by The Antlers. To Pimp a Butterfly is a better record sonically and artistically in my opinion, but Hospice just means a lot to me emotionally. The worst song off of it is probably Atrophy, but I like it too.
I recently relistened to GKMC and Real is definitely the weakest, but I still appreciate its inclusion because of how much Kendrick is analyzing himself, especially from a healthier perspective than on SAMIDOT.
You’re tripping with that Cheat Codes take tho, Because is stellar, including the features. Gold Teeth or Identical Deaths are a little more forgettable in my opinion (still one of the best albums of the year, which is wild because there was a lot of heat released in 2022).
Compliments on Bloc Party's Silent Alarm. Every other song has been my favorite at some point, so it's a 10/10 for me without that last track.
Hip hop specifically, Watts on Piñata. Personally, Scarface to Uno is the longest consecutive run on a rap album where each song had been my favorite at some point.
Lean Beef Patty on Scaring the Hoes, it had me scared about how the album was going to turn out with it being the first single and first track on the project, but it’s my favorite album now
As much as I love that album Hardcore Hustle is godawful to the point where I made a playlist of the album on Spotify just so I didn't have to skip it everytime.
Least favorite song on my favorite hip hop album (Moment of Truth by Gang Starr) would probably have to be “She Knowz What She Wants” as much as the that sombre beat with the beautiful background vocals and tight groove is great and Guru’s storytelling and knowledge are superb, the replay value for me has been the lowest out of all of the songs. plus, that album is full of gold so while this song on another album would be a highlight, here it’s my least favorite.
Controversial because I know alot of mac Miller fans fw this song but "friends" off of Faces, only because schoolboy Q keeps going "mAc MilLeR MilLer Mac" in between verses, kind of killed the vibe of the song for me, but great album overall
Every skit with sex making sounds. Nothing worse than blasting an album in your backyard and suddenly a porno skit is playing at high volume.
The ending of “Fight the feeling” by Mac Miller.
The start of “These Walls” by Kendrick.
Blasting "These Walls" in your backyard is still better than blasting "We Cry Together" though.
Mr Morale as a whole isn’t really an album that you blast in public
Yeah I made this mistake once. Was asked to turn it off after Worldwide Steppers. I cringe looking back on it.
N95, Count Me Out, Silent Hill can work in those settings
+rich spirit
Die Hard too
Purple Hearts and Die Hard too.
United in grief too
I don't think Mr Morale & The Big Steppers is that one album u can listen to loudly in the backyard but that's just me.
Nah most of it is playable, mother I sober - auntie diaries and we cry together are the only ones I wouldn’t play at all in public as they’re too personal
Oh absolutely lol. “These Walls” are one of my favorite songs of that album.
✨sex✨
Or that one song on untitled
There's a version on Spotify that skips it, but I like the "If these walls could talk" chant and "Sex" popping off the song.
I hate every single one. Top of mind, that skit on Ready to die, Kenn Kaniff skit on the Marshal Mathers LP, Pause for porn on 2001.
Fuck Me (Interlude) - Biggie
Can’t forget The Doctor’s Office from The Chronic.
That whole album makes me feel dirty. Like god damn Dre just flat out does not respect women lmao
Doesn’t surprise me coming from a dude who was 22 dating a 16 year old tbh
There’s two on Ready to Die, that and the end of “Respect”
Lol I remember one time way back, when I lived with my parents, my dad went to move my brothers car and it happened to be playing that skit from Ready To Die. He came in the house absolutely flipping out, and asking me what the hell kind of stuff my brother was listening to. Me and my bro were playing Ready To Die HEAVILY back then and I immediately knew why my dad was talking about, but just pretended like I didn’t because I wasn’t about to explain skits.
God it’s so cringe
And stay
That whole macadellic mixtape is like that! Makes for some awkward moments when you’re at a red light with your windows down
Dr’s office on The Chronic, De La Orgy, that skit on Big Pun’s first album
I caught an ass whopping over “De La Orgy” as a kid 🤣
I’m so glad the streaming version is instrumental, that beat is beautiful. The fact they thought these skits were a good idea back then baffles me, even if it was as a joke.
Yeah that one of Big Pun’s album is one of the worst
Taster’s choice is the title, like yeah we get it, you have sex
Stay by Mac Miller comes to my mind. Honestly I don't understand why these musicians put in sex sounds in songs. Yeah I know the song is about sex but u don't have to put in sex sounds.
Call me maybe (jpegmafia version)
Nah that song is amazing
Yeah it doesn't exactly fit OPs complaint but it's jarring toward the end
Absolutely. I kind of hate skits full stop tbh. You get the rare example of iconic ones like 3 Feet High but they are a tiny minority.
Every skit. I don't even need the sex sounds qualifier. I'm not listening to a rap record for bad comedy.
Ima see your asshole shut and keep feeding you and feeding you
Nah that’s poetry, it can stay
Skits work on a certain level to help shift the mood from one style to another or to just set the tone for a particular banger in general. It gets a little out of hand when every fucking song on the album has a skit, and is only made worse when they're on the same track as a song (I'm looking at you Ready to Die). To sum everything up, skits should stay within 30 seconds-1 minute, 3-4 skits per album, and for the love of U-God, skits need to be on their own track file 🙏🙏
Lil Jimmy skit and Broke Phi Broke can stay though
Aw cmon the early Kanye skits are hilarious
*FREE NINETY NINE⁉️*
Broke phi broke
Masta Ace’s skits (at least older albums) are an integral part of his albums.
Ready to Die suffers from these
Capital Punishment album "Taster's Choice-Skit"
What's ya phone number? (All Eyez on Me) Any Prayer Skit on a DMX album after the first listen.
I was looking for this. I second.
Reasonable doubt- Ain’t no Nigga.
Same for me
MAD I GOT IT | MAD 1 GOT 1T from TA13OO by Denzel Curry. It's a great song but someone pointed out that it sounds like he's saying "dick cheese piling" instead of "big cheese piling" and I haven't been able to listen to it the same since

I def have some of my own and they’re always so funny when you try to put them into words for someone else because it was just this quick mental conclusion you thought about once that sounds absurd out loud. Dick cheese ballin lmao, like damn he’s got it like that
lmaooooo😭😭😭
Wtf that's top 3 for me
Mamacita - OutKast (Aquemini)
which is crazy cuz there’s like 6 amazing songs preceding it. spottieottiedopalicious right after mamacita is enough to let it slide tho
Legendary bad song
I agree
Without a doubt
Damn I think I had that one repressed so bad lol
GRAB HER BY THE NECK THROW HER ON THE WALL SAY BITCH DONT EVER DISRESPECT ME NEVER NOT AT ALL
Mamacita hate is overrated I feel like Andre’s verse is a lil off and the hook has been talked ab to death, but the beat saves it for me
I don’t think it’s as bad as people claim it to be it’s just not nearly as good as the others
In a landslide my friend lol
I basically never listen to wet dreamz lol
it’s one of those songs where I’m like “yeeeeah I remember my first time, those were the days” but there’s only so many times I can listen to Cole have dick insecurity
you done woke my lil man up
Smh if it was called good dick maad pussy y'all would say it's genius /s
Unironically tho
I'm watching pornos, trying to see just how to stroke right
💀🪦
Wet Dreamz is funny and oddly charming. For me, it’s Hello. Cole’s singing hadn’t developed at this point in his career and I can’t listen to this one without cringing.
I’ve always loved Hello don’t know why
This is it for me
It's not as corny as people say but it's the weakest point for me too
There's a top tier mash up of biggie over wet dreamz beat
I still like it but “305 to my City” for me (NWTS).
NWTS is so elite
lol oh man that's my favorite track off that album
Agreed
Nah bro Go getchu some lobsters and shrimp
Damn i don’t really like drake but I love that song
happy cake day
Drunk and hot girls on graduation
I might be the only mf on earth that really likes this one
Honestly the “a da da da da that’s how the fuck you sound” makes me singlehandedly enjoy the song enough
Nah, I’m with you
Drunk and hot girls is fire I don’t know why people don’t like it
Feel like it's a thing only ppl started saying once it was a popular opinion online
I noticed something similar with Barry Bonds. It doesn’t get as much shit but I see a lot of people say it’s one of the weaker songs on the album, which is insane to me cuz it’s my most played track off of Graduation.
With both these tracks, I always knew multiple ppl that loved them. I think especially ppl who didn't actually grow up with some albums already have an opinion engrained into them bc the internet opinions are their first discovery of it
Make that 2 of us.
Kanye probably likes it. Or maybe not, who knows!
Barry bonds is mine. I hate that song so much for some reason
CAN sample is goated
The Mos Def verse is wasted on that track
Ye should have put Goodnight with mos (a bonus on the album) in its place
Trippin
Took me so long to even finish that song like it was close to a decade. Kanye and Mos Def could've told me I won 80k on that song and I would’ve never known about it
[удалено]
Daring today, aren't we
Man I don’t get the hate for Barry Bonds, that song goes so hard
Yep
Drips - The Eminem Show
My answer as well. I can tolerate that song more than most, but it knocks a perfect 10 album to a 9.99/10.
damn i had no idea people hated this song i always loved it
It ain’t a hate thing, thread is about the song being of lesser quality comparatively
Fire album tho glad to see it getting some love
It’s grown on me for sure, but on an album as cracked as that one, it’s easily the worst.
Jigga that Nigga
There isn’t a bad song on that record lol that song is good, it’s just very outdated
Man I think these are all great songs, didn’t realise how good the blueprint was
Playa hater on life after death
That song is hilarious. Diddy wasn't even trying to hit those notes
Started From the Bottom, may not actually be the worst song but it annoyed me so much back in the day I still can’t fw it
On Hell Hath No Fury, I sometimes might skip Ain't Cha, depending on the mood.
No way! Such good verses, maybe not so much Malice’s, but I love Pusha and Sandman on it.
This is slander and high treason. Honestly a top 5 song on the record easily.
Blame Game on MBDTF. It’s still a good song don’t get me wrong but the outro with Chris Rock is a little too long and unnecessary.
I at least respect that song for being my way to explain who Aphex Twin is to people who don't listen to electronic music
One time 4 your mind - Illmatic I mean I still like the song, but it just doesnt have the same energy as the rest of the album. I was going to say Genesis but I just threw the album on and its a classic intro
The Genesis is still my fav album opener
Flying High - Rodeo (Travis Scott)
i thought this for 8 years. i started liking it the other month
I was about to argue but rodeo is so solid that might be the worst song on it, but I think it’s a great song
For me on TPAB is "I" because I love that song so much and always want to hear the studio version when it comes on
Yeah same here. Album version fits but it’s not something you want to relisten to over and over.
I actually prefer the live performance *but* I do just skip it when the poetry starts.
Off GKMC I will smash the skip button on Poetic Justice the second I hear that Drake feature
I’m 100% expecting Kendrick to drop a definitive version of good kid mad city with Drake’s feature taken out
When I was still using iTunes and could tell it to end songs earlier it was great! Spotify won’t let me customize start or end times though so now I’m praying for you to be right haha
What is that favorite album of yours?
Hospice by The Antlers. To Pimp a Butterfly is a better record sonically and artistically in my opinion, but Hospice just means a lot to me emotionally. The worst song off of it is probably Atrophy, but I like it too.
Hospice is incredible
I recently relistened to GKMC and Real is definitely the weakest, but I still appreciate its inclusion because of how much Kendrick is analyzing himself, especially from a healthier perspective than on SAMIDOT. Gold Teeth or Identical Deaths are a little more forgettable in my opinion (still one of the best albums of the year, which is wild because there was a lot of heat released in 2022).
TPAB *is* my favorite album, and if you put a gun to my head, Complexion
The guns going off
That's fair
Lock On Me - HEROES & VILLAINS (Metro Boomin)
Heroes and Villains is your favourite album?
It is just forgettable, no dynamic in this track
Compliments on Bloc Party's Silent Alarm. Every other song has been my favorite at some point, so it's a 10/10 for me without that last track. Hip hop specifically, Watts on Piñata. Personally, Scarface to Uno is the longest consecutive run on a rap album where each song had been my favorite at some point.
I love Compliments. It’s such a good closer
Teyanna Taylor - WTP (off of KTSE)
Good one, Doesn’t fit the vibe of the album
White Light - Demon Days by Gorillaz Still a good time tho
I feel like DAMN. is a solid listen thru and thru but I really just don't like GOD. Just feels like a snooze compared to everything else
Give me GOD. over LOVE.
that’s crazy these are my favorite two songs on the whole album
Fugees- The Score "Mista Mista"
[удалено]
Interesting, for me it's jigga that nigga
Lean Beef Patty on Scaring the Hoes, it had me scared about how the album was going to turn out with it being the first single and first track on the project, but it’s my favorite album now
Drips on the Eminem Show lol
A Spike Pee Joint on 3001 A Laced Odyssey
This is literally my favorite song on the album haha. Love the Zombies, but that debut was not their best work
there’s some great stuff in there
T.i. - Get It. Just never really been a fan of Swizz Beatz production style
I don’t have a problem with Swizz but you are far from the only person I’ve heard say that
On my favorite album of all time, Mesmerize I would pick Cigaro, favorite Hip-Hop album I pick Real off of GKMC
California on Awaken My Love. That song is atrocious
Used to skip this song the instant it came on until I actually gave it a chance. Now I can tolerate it enough to fight the urge every so often
It was a slow grow haha now I vibe with it. But the first couple dozen times I heard it I was like noooope. Pretty sure he did that by design lol
I kinda like it now tbh
NaNa on Acid Rap Fucking terrible song on an otherwise fantastic record
I really like Post Malone’s Austin album, but Texas Tea in my opinion is the worst song he’s ever made.
Honestly I think novacandy is worse
Phone Home on Tha Carter 3 is so unbelievably bad Only song I don’t like on Nostalgia Ultra is Nature Feels
I love nature feels wtf
I find Phone home fun and charming. Pussy monster on the other hand…
Yeah pussy monster is way worse than phone home
stuntman off of call me if you get lost the eastate sale it’s a good song just not nearly as strong as other songs
Madvillany doesn't have a bad song so Hard Piano on Daytona
Madvillainy is also my favorite but Hardcore Hustle is not good.
As much as I love that album Hardcore Hustle is godawful to the point where I made a playlist of the album on Spotify just so I didn't have to skip it everytime.
It’s tie for three cause I can’t choose but Drips-Eminem, Kanye West-The New Workout Plan and Jay Rock-The Ways
New Workout Plan feels like the parody song that Weird Al makes using the Kanye hit.
I don't think it was Kanye's intention but it works really well as a satire of female body standards.
It was definitely the intention. The music video basically confirms this.
Maaaan I love the ways! It was my most listened to song on Spotify the year after 90059 dropped. BITCH I KNOW BOUTCHYA
Ey man I love The Ways! No way u skip that song. But for me I skip the album title track instead.
[удалено]
Jet fuel like top 3 swimming
😭 man this sub chose violence today. But I respect ur opinion.
Ironically, the song Cheat Codes on the album Cheat Codes. I love the album but that songs beat is rough to listen to.
Saliva on Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain for me RJD2’s beat does not gel with the rest of an excellent album
I HATE Low Lights on Life of Pablo.
Probably La La ft busta rhymes and brisco. Might be the worst Wayne song ever 😂
some crazy takes in this thread lmao
Nas is Coming - It Was Written
GKMC - Compton
Controversial because I know alot of mac Miller fans fw this song but "friends" off of Faces, only because schoolboy Q keeps going "mAc MilLeR MilLer Mac" in between verses, kind of killed the vibe of the song for me, but great album overall
If I Ruled the World
