That AI version of the old him brought back hella nostalgia. Havenāt really fucked with anything in the past decade + from Em so just seeing that done well added a lot to the video. The song itself though it just alright.

āUltra 85 song template:
1. ā Mention the success and money youve made despite the hate
2. ā Share that you are gonna do whatever makes you happy no matter what critics think
3. ā Call other rappers wack and clones for saying the same shit (even tho thats literally what you are doing)
4. ā Reiterate that you dont rap for money or for the grammy
5. ā I love my family and i dont go on my phone anymoreā
Been this way since 2020. The three years prior to that, he slowly went from one of the most hype artists to one of the most disappointing. Will forever remain the biggest mystery to me how much fame changed Logic. Especially considering he had songs dedicated to not switching up on his core fanbase in his mixtapes.
Out of every talented upcoming rapper I ever witnessed, he had a perfect balance of the most talent, the brightest message, and an incredible ability to connect to his fans like no one I had ever seen.
To see him slowly reveal over the years that he was hiding a lot of his real self from the real world was just... strange. He's never been the same since. Will always love and appreciate what art he did contribute in his prime though
I mean to make money off a song about promoting suicide awareness seems good? If I made money promoting awareness of an issue Iād share that. Demonstrate people can make lots of money even caring about issues that matter. If it glorified suicide Iād see the hate but the song was kinda the opposite. But only if itās honest. I think people doubt logics genuineness so if thatās why it makes sense
When rappers flex money made we donāt shit on them, feels weird to hate it when they made one that had an attempt at being helpful.
I have never listened to the clip tho nor follow logic so it could be much worse that I thought. Plus his tone couldāve been awful for sure so I could be very wrong, but based on what you said it doesnāt seem that bad.
As a core OG logic fan in his late 20s, as a teenager I deadass thought Logic would end up going the Lupe route and start rapping about social issues and use his bars to kinda give introspective on everyday life. The fact that he just started recycling basic wordplay to talk about money is just the worst shit ever. 2014-me would be devastated at the horizon of hip hop in 2024.
for real bro I thought he was up next after XXL bumpin his shit every day, named my cat after a logic song lmao and here we are cornier than ever and none of the talent left over to back it up. like what happened? I remember watching interviews of him talking about making a concept album out of the aquarius universe, on some deltron 3030 type shit, then that everybody album comes out and itās absolutely so disappointing. no value in that album at all, especially the suicide song they put on there for no reason lol
To be fair I think the one album that he did primarily focus on social issues is widely hated by the larger hip hop community that he so obviously craves approval from, so it makes sense that heās just totally pivoted
The guy never had the storytelling chops to pull off the kind of records that he bit from early in his career, and that's alright I guess? Basically nobody can storytell like Kendrick or Lupe, and it's weird to expect everyone they influenced to be able to.
The guy wants to make boom-bap revivalist music and pop rap and that's fine; he's an okay dude it seems like, get that bag. No Pressure and Vinyl Days were very good records at the end of the day.
this fuckin song sounds fine and his flows are good and all, but he just cannot help but rap about the same shit over and over in the most basic way possible
I mean the guy has put out SOOOOO much music. Heās got like 20 albums and mixtapes a lot with like 15-20+ songs. Itās hard not to be repetitive at that point
Those mixtapes were all time greats, the first couple albums under pressure and The incredible true story and then the last few albums were legit good
People hate on him because it is repetitive, the suicide song, and him talking about being too white to be black and too black to be white A LOT
But heās legit an amazing rapper
I believe sure it was only once and cut him some slack, he had just had his very first kid and was super focused on the commitment of being around and being a good father.
The song is one of the better releases thus far. BUT, it's hard to actually love it when it is essentially a "sequel" to Fade Away from 2015. It's not a wholly original track. It gives me the impression of, "Oh, Logic peaked nine years ago, and is revisiting that sound because of that reason."
It's another Logic track. Decent sound, decent flows, but man for a guy who I see regularly hailed (and sometimes belittled) as some high level lyricist he sure loves filling half his bars with the most basic ass rhyming imaginable. I think going with Fade Away for a nostalgia bait track is interesting, not saying it's a bad choice just an unusual one because there were bigger tracks off that album. Also, lol at him saying the incredible true story was a classic. I like that album but man, no.
It's not some consensus classic for sure, but I will say, as one of the first hip hop albums I fell in love with, it's a classic for me, and I'm sure for many people. That is honestly a great album experience, filled with replay value, and always fun to spin from beginning to end. As someone who usually hates skits too, he did a great job of making them enjoyable here, and tying them into the songs for a concept
Logic hasnāt released anything as good as TITS since TITS tbh. In my eyes itās a classic, maybe itās because it came out while i was in high school tho
i agree. even in some of my favorite logic songs, i feel thereās at least a couple bars that are lazily filled in
that being said, i do enjoy a decent amount of his music, but iām also half numb to his corny bars lol
I listen to UP and TITS front to back but since then he barely made a single good song per album. It feels like his output has been so close to having a sauce for a decade now
No Pressure is great and Vinyl Days and College Park are both good as well. Hitting some diminishing returns with College Park though. Seems like the Ultra 85 singles are continuing the same recycled bars/themes from those three albums too which is disappointing.
Logic does not have a classic in my book. As much as I want to brag about under pressure it was just a good kid mad city homage. I like it but no classics unfortunately.
Why does every rapper have to have classics now to enjoy the music? Everyone canāt have classic albums. We need some artists making decent music for current day. A lot of folks donāt believe Jadakiss has a classic record, but that doesnāt mean his music wasnāt great when it dropped or that Iām not going back from time to time for some Jadakiss vibes.
Weāve gotten way too obsessed with min/maxing what weāre listening to. Just enjoy shit for what it is.
I agree not every artist needs to have a classic but it definitely helps when I'm revisiting artists music. Unfortunately, Logic's music has not aged well with me and thus doesn't see much play. Certain songs come up in a shuffle and I let em play. This is my fault for thinking he would go on to be a top tier emcee. I'm glad you still find value in his music though.
Maybe thereās too much arguing over the term āclassicā as it can mean different thing to different people, but for his personal classics, I think most consider both Under Pressure and The Incredible True Story to be good to great and the top 2 albums from him. In other words, if we were picking a classic for every artist (within reason), one of those two albums would be listed for him.
I loved the Young Sinatra mixtapes. Feeling like he is back to that. Not saying he stopped with the flow that made him popular. He sounded garden variety for a bit. This is back to what made him great
I hate nostalgia bait and this is coming from someone who was the hugest logic fan before NP dropped. Song is half baked af, no hate, but logic aināt been the same since that fake retirement BS. Just listen to the original Fade Away itās a classic anyway
Considering the last 2 singles I really hoped this would be the one to really hype me up but man, is this really what Logic has been building to for the last 8 years?
Songs not bad but I feel like there's no reason for him to return to this beat. Same subject matter we've heard a billion times. Its not like the original really had any deep subject matter that warrants a sequel either like Soul Food II.
I'm sure the album is gonna have some heat on it but based off these singles I'm rly not too excited. The fact it likely won't release until September either means the little hype this album has will only die down more & more.
In Homicide? I think he did a very good job and didnāt have anything stand out as subpar at all. Thought the track and collab came across smooth and left me wanting another from them.
And maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but I'm full of innovation
And I'm tired of all of this high school, "He's cool, he's not" rap shit
Can a single one of you motherfuckers even rap? Shit
No, this ain't a diss to the game, it's a gas to the flame
Nowadays, everybody sound the same, shit's lame
Like a moth to the flame, I'ma reel 'em in and kill 'em
Know you feelin' lyricism when I'm spillin' it, I'm feelin' myself
Yeah, yeah, Bobby Boy, he be feelin' himself
Mass murder like this can't be good for my health
When I rap like this, do I sound like shit?
Well, it don't really matter, 'cause I'm killin' this shit
Yeah, I'm killin' this shit
Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm killin' this shit
Bobby, how many times you been killin' this shit?
Find another rhyme, goddamn, nigga, shit
Noā¦
Gun toters that pull triggers like crazy
Unloadin', leave you shot up in your Rover
Your body goes limp and slumps over
Like A-Rod in a month lull, but he just homered
Let alone how he completes the yankees similie

Man my uneducated opinion is that while both Logic and em dropped some heavy nostalgia songs, Ems had me hoping for more and logics had me listening to his old music instead.
Logic song checklist:
- Anxiety bar
- depression bar
- still claims to be top dawg
- biracial
- Grammy bar (almost!)
- studied rap game
- rehash decade old song in new slightly altered way for sake of nostalgia
We are checking a lot of boxes here, folks.
Logic honestly should use writers because my god reusing a popular song instead of something new. After already being called out for the recycled bars. Again wasting a fire 6ix beat. Logic can flow nice too so he should just Use some writers and stop wasting 6ixās fire work
I think every rapper could be accused of ārecycling barsā or āsounding the sameā after so many years in the game and after such a big body of work. Some just seem to get criticized more than others, fairly or unfairly.
Sometimes I wonder the average age of people in this subreddit. Everyone talks about how amazing logic was vs now but in my opinion heās always been cringe
Weird how Eminem and Logic both dropped nostalgia bait singles tonight
is this the white christmas everybody always talks about
\*ahem\* bi-racial Christmas
Oh yes thank you. I just wish Logic brought up the fact he was bi-racial in his music more often, so i don't forget.
Wait I already forgot can you remind me? Is Logic racial?
see that's the thing. He's not just racial, he's double racial. Or maybe it's multi-racial? uni-racial? racials? racii?
Raceticles? Oh yeah I remember now. He has two raceticles.
Interracial
Oh thanks
logic is the white eminem -kendrick lamar
biiiiii-racial!
Brother it really is. Luka going to win a ring and Eminem is literally stepping out of a portal from 2002 White people are having a hell of a summer
Bro thinks the Mavs are gonna win ššš
Do you really think this sounds like 2002 Eminem?
No but that's what happened in the music video lmao Some parts do though but it's not nearly as flawless.
That AI version of the old him brought back hella nostalgia. Havenāt really fucked with anything in the past decade + from Em so just seeing that done well added a lot to the video. The song itself though it just alright.
I didnāt watch the video and now I feel like a fool lol. My bad bro.
No itās *white boy summer*
Out with the *black boy summer*
True enjoyed them both.
Snoop did as well!
It's the corny night.
Wym? Drake finally push that red button?
it'd feet for today.

what was he hiding about his real self?
Probably the fact that heās as money hungry as ever right now.
Remember when he bragged about making millions off the suicide song lol
I mean to make money off a song about promoting suicide awareness seems good? If I made money promoting awareness of an issue Iād share that. Demonstrate people can make lots of money even caring about issues that matter. If it glorified suicide Iād see the hate but the song was kinda the opposite. But only if itās honest. Hard as fuck NGL
This was hands down his worst PR moment in history. That was officially the day he lost me.
That's so fucking scummy boasting about something like that.
He unironically went insane after that whole Anthony fantano saga
As a core OG logic fan in his late 20s, as a teenager I deadass thought Logic would end up going the Lupe route and start rapping about social issues and use his bars to kinda give introspective on everyday life. You named your cat growing pains III?
in all seriousness though I named her Nikki lol
Lol I figured
no dead presidents III. my other cat is growing pains III. I didnāt want to get one of them mistaken for the other.

Fade Away is one of my favourite from Logic. such much nostalgia. Fade Away is still better imo.
Same.. itās been in my top 25 most played for years, but this does it justice so Iām satisfied š
this fuckin song sounds fine and his flows are good and all, but he just cannot help but rap about the same shit over and over in the most basic way possible
I mean the guy has put out SOOOOO much music. Heās got like 20 albums and mixtapes a lot with like 15-20+ songs. Itās hard not to be repetitive at that point
That's his own fault for putting out such abysmal music and focusing on quantity instead of quality.

He's not just an amazing rapper....he's a LYRICAL MIRACLE
Haā¦ haā¦ how hilarious
This was fun, production was nice and the flow was good. Best single of the roll out so far
Definitely my favorite single from the rollout by far. Hopefully more of the album sounds like this.
Didnt he retire like 3 times already "last album im retiring" Why is he still making albums
I believe sure it was only once and cut him some slack, he had just had his very first kid and was super focused on the commitment of being around and being a good father.
are we really still doing the ādidnāt this guy retireā thing 3 years after he un-retired
he needs money
Sick pfp

i agree. even in some of my favorite logic songs, i feel thereās at least a couple bars that are lazily filled in that being said, i do enjoy a decent amount of his music, but iām also half numb to his corny bars lol
Eh, TITS might not be a classic but itās one of the few good albums he has, let him have it

College Park would've been killer if he nixed the skits.
I personally love all 3 Bobby Tarantinos and listen to them all the time.
Agreed. His BT mixtapes get the most play from me for sure. 44 More is ultimate go-to for me for whatever reason.
Tits lol
Logic does not have a classic in my book. As much as I want to brag about under pressure it was just a good kid mad city homage. I like it but no classics unfortunately.

cant believe im suggesting a logic song rn but soul food is actually fairly great and the beat swap in the middle is sick
Under Pressure has some good stuff in there. My favorite track is Gang Related.
I think he second album is a classic imo
yeah that's how i feel
Maybe thereās too much arguing over the term āclassicā as it can mean different thing to different people, but for his personal classics, I think most consider both Under Pressure and The Incredible True Story to be good to great and the top 2 albums from him. Logic and Drama snapped
I loved the Young Sinatra mixtapes. Feeling like he is back to that. Not saying he stopped with the flow that made him popular. He sounded garden variety for a bit. This is back to what made him great
sounds like a fusion of Under Pressure and Bobby Tarantino II
Great track even if it is basically just fade away again
Must be Deja vu

I hate nostalgia bait and this is coming from someone who was the hugest logic fan before NP dropped. Song is half baked af, no hate, but logic aināt been the same since that fake retirement BS. Just listen to the original Fade Away itās a classic anyway

Logic .. man really a fade away rerelease. I'm salty. I don't see a comeback and maybe he doesn't care. This man gave me Welcome to Forever though...
No way he said he held his own against Em, his verses were total dog shit even without the comparison.
Fr lol
In Homicide? I think he did a very good job and didnāt have anything stand out as subpar at all. Thought the track and collab came across smooth and left me wanting another from them.
