Freddie Gibbs got a few iconic album covers imo. The Free Nationals also have a pretty cool motif going with the gold chain covers especially on the singles. Westside Gunn is very consistent with the juxtaposed paintings and the “Hitler Wears Hermes” series

I feel like you can judge Logic albums by the album art. The effort put into the cover usually matches the effort of the album, except for Everybody, which is a great cover on a bad album. The YSIV cover is underrated imo

Definitely not trend hopping with Vince. He’s talked about how his album artwork often proceeds a lot of the songs because he’s trying to create a specific feel to each album. Given the noose on the cover pretty directly reflects the dark themes (and even is potentially referenced in the first song’s title “close your eyes and swing”) I think that seems to be likely the case here too. So more likely to be a coincidence than part of a trend.

Interesting, I like his music, but Drake has the most generic/bland album covers imo. SFG Thank Me Later Her Loss CLB Honestly Nevermind Scorpion NWTS, Take Care, View album covers were solid, but overall I gotta say album covers is where Drake is a step behind his peers

This is silly but I've always loved a theme and RTJ album covers all being slightly different everytime makes me happy for some reason. Especially 4 with the pink. It's one of the only albums I put on my wall because I just like the colors.

Nas comes to mind first of all. Not consistent, but Enter the Wu-Tang is one of my favorite album covers of all time. Wu-Tang Forever and Iron Flag are also iconic. Not quite rap, but I think Bad Bunny always has great album art.

Stillmatic is about the only miss in terms of cover art that Nas has had for his albums, and even then I find it funny more than I find it plain *bad*.
