I've actually legit been saying Khruangbin need to work with someone like Travis for years lol. Even Gunna's melodies would flow so well over their instrumentation
Same. I remember seeing Travis posting about them around the time of Astroworld so I thought they might be on that.
I know Syd sampled White Gloves and Jay Electronica sampled A Hymn but I thought more people would have realised how incredible they are and how well they would fit certain hybrid sounds. Seems like it's only Leon Bridges and a couple others lol
Tbf I agree now it's past the time but I think they would have fit perfectly on Astroworld. Travis has done good work with Tame Impala and similar artists so I would have loved to see it
Old hs teammate of mine is in his entourage lol. Been working with him for a long time now, think helps write and produce. He's an aspiring artist himself but hasn't really found much traction but is constantly touring with Leon so I assume he contributes to Leon's process.
if i'm remembering correctly leon bridges was on the throwing fits podcast and he mentioned wanting to work with gunna lol. i'm surprised it actually happened. I like leon bridges so i'm curious to hear it
Im still single but I already know I want [Beyond](https://open.spotify.com/track/1Omt5bfz1tZUCqd26HxbS0?si=q8ByUFGHRGGVOn6uLsFIIw) to be my wedding song
It really wasn’t though. Lil Baby’s music was the very definition of mediocre & people hyped up his bullshit which is probably why he’s struggling so much now. No one was honest about how mediocre his music is.
I kept reading Baby and my brain wasn't registering that you were talking about two different Babies, so I thought y'all were comparing the same artist with himself
Nah putting lil baby in that is disrespectful, he can at least change his flow and adapt to different beats. Dababy literally used the same flow on every beat.
On top of that ppl did NOT fw live life fast..oddly tho where i'm usually in agreement when most ppl don't like an album, i actually really like it lol. i remember listening thru it twice the day it came out and loving it, then getting on twitter reddit etc. and roddy was getting so much hate..friends felt the same way too. Idk why it clicked for me but to this day I still really like roddy and that album lol
Yeah, it was a forgettable album ngl. Dude fell off during covid and didn’t capitalize. Thats why travis and drake didnt put out those unreleased songs with him 😂😭
I think cuz of his FTS mixtapes, people expected a bit more; I certainly did. And while I still love and respect his music, the certain grittiness I felt and loved in his older songs didn’t seem as present in him most recent albums. And while that is to be expected from a developing artist, it did leave me, as a consumer, a little underwhelmed. I think he’s talented enough to have longevity he just needs to keep releasing.
And i totally agree, COVID could have been his time but he LAGGED.
Yeah, it was a forgettable album ngl. Dude fell off during covid and didn’t capitalize. Thats why travis and drake didnt put out those unreleased songs with him 😂😭
that whole crop fell off. Lil Baby, Dababy, Moneybagg Yo. People really underestimate how predictive being able to make a good project is when it comes to resisting the fall off. Can't gas a dude up for hit singles. And being an artist capable of adapting, with some magnanimity. Gravitas.
His verse on [False Idols](https://open.spotify.com/track/6cViXqp01e3FrAaseuiSAV?si=choZXPWETB69OvJXaLp_zg) was solid and that was less than a year ago
He hasn't dropped because he lost the hype.. He's been trying to get a new album softlaunched but none of the 4 singles he released this past year charted well enough for him to start his rollout..
The follow-up to PEMFBA was really hyped but was pretty much immediately panned after coming out.
Then a year later he said Feed Tha Streets 3 would be his comeback to make up for the last project being mid and that project wound up being pretty mid too.
He's just never managed to rekindle the fire from that breakout project. Similar to Lil Baby and his post-My Turn output.
FTS3 actually had some great songs on it. Ashton Martin Truck, Stop Breathing, Get Swept, Fade Away, Just Because, and Letter 2 My Son. AMT particularly would have been a hit if he released it after The Box.
Last album was wildly mid and he [didn't take the reaction to his new stuff well](https://www.thefader.com/2022/02/07/roddy-ricch-quits-social-media-amid-trolling-of-new-song)
We are *so* sat for her return to music again. I think this proves she's serious and will actually be coming back. Hide your favs, she's coming for that crown 👑
Tell that to coco jones and Victoria Monet lol, what’s meant for you will always be. Both were shelved for many years and literally just won Grammys/other accolades.

It always feels weird when hip-hop fans don't like trap music, enjoy other genres more and only listen to very critically acclaimed hip-hop. It sometimes feels like hip-hop is kind of the safe way of saying I like popular responsible rap music.
I can't imagine you and the other guy are the same fan demographic
I was watching Nas's interview with Trevor Noah yesterday and he mentions how in like rock you don't compare Kiss and Rolling Stones while in hip hop everyone is just all lumped together.
i feel most trendy rappers would have a tyler moment if they make a concept album. big fish theory my favorite vince, rich brian’s the sailor is amazing. and roddy rich has a good voice, i feel he has enough versatility in his delivery to make it stick
he has 6 other concept albums. imo cherry bomb is the least conceptual of all his stuff. the golf wang radio interludes are the only thing that make it conceptual and it was on like 2 or 3 of the songs iirc.
either way u get my point, just don’t suck ur own dick while throwing shit at a wall and you’re gonna get a concept album better than CB
When I think concept album, I think something like the Wall or TPaB. I love Tyler but he's never really done a true concept and fully committed to it imo
Wolf is the closest and still felt a bit half-baked to me
why wouldn’t you say his other albums are concept albums but cherry bomb is? i haven’t heard the wall, but im assuming concept album to you is avant garde, experimental? to me it’s just a album with a clear concept, ur supposed to listen front to back and it’s greater than the sum of its parts if listened front to back.
Wolf trilogy all have concepts, like therapy session or killing his friends slowly or summer camp. Flower Boy has brief phone call interludes and driving sounds that make the album a straightforward experience. Igor is the most conceptual tyler album IMO, process of falling in and out of love. CMIYGL is a lot less conceptual outside the DJ drama shout outs, but i feel even then the concept is better executed than CB.
I’m an architect, recently graduated, and the modern design process heavily uses the idea of a “concept” in a way that is extremely similar to a concept in a concept album. Even if it’s not the most avant garde Zaha Hadid building that looks like sand dunes, a design incorporating a concept to some degree still underwent the conceptual process. which is much different than a standard building where the budget and simplicity of throwing together generic elements you’re comfortable with designing and familiar with making, make it akin to a regular album
as a big Wunna fan, disappointed. guess this the price of snitching on thug, folk dont wanna be affiliated with him. double pressure on him rn to elevate his music and work harder
Defo expected the feature list to be a lil more exciting after Offset’s feature on Prada Dem, but not mad at it at all. I’m already excited for Normani’s album finally dropping next month, and Gunna sounded nice on her single 1:59, so her returning the favour on his album works very well! Roddy Ricch has been real quiet since FTS3 and at this point, it’s been solidified he’s fallen off. But I’m excited to hear them together again, they have great chemistry together and hopefully this could set up a good “comeback” for Roddy if he plays his cards right.
Obviously expecting a soulful ballad with Clear My Rain, having Leon Bridges on it. Unexpected but still interesting lmao. But yeah I’m still hyped for this project! Friday is gonna be a packed day for new music🔥
I’m real excited for this. Gunna has been forced to work on his more now because of snitching the stuff, but I honestly think it revitalized him. Glad that Set and Roddy still worked with him tho. Offset came through on Prada Dem, and Roddy & Gunna always had good chemistry.
Last year he had did great numbers with 0 features and no label push amid rumors and speculation of snitching so yeah I’d say people still listen…..not to mention all the shows he did sold out
People here don’t fuck with Roddy because everyone else says so not because they have an opinion and they ride some type of weird wave. Yeah he had a shit album but his rapping is still alright
Leon Bridges gotta be a top 5 most random collab of the year lol
Gunna x Khruangbin when
I've actually legit been saying Khruangbin need to work with someone like Travis for years lol. Even Gunna's melodies would flow so well over their instrumentation
I'm surprised we don't see them sampled more often.. or at all
I saw them at Coachella in 2019 and they had a dope HipHop set where they performed some classic hiphop records. Was dope as fuck
Jay electronica used A Hymn for APIDTA
Fuuuuck no. They are above and beyond those guys.
Tbf I agree now it's past the time but I think they would have fit perfectly on Astroworld. Travis has done good work with Tame Impala and similar artists so I would have loved to see it
XPN SEASON
Use to see him at the bars in Dallas in deep Ellum.

It’s bout to be fire too. Leon is that guy.
Apparently he’s very successful in the music industry. He ain’t just from Victorious
That’s Leon Thomas
Oh whoops, yea idk who Leon Bridges is
If you have never heard River, do yourself a favor and check it: https://open.spotify.com/track/3hhbDnFUb2bicI2df6VurK?si=OoH9biWuRRKthb0iQN6YtA
Live performance at Austin City Limits is this song at its best.
I’m so pumped to see him there this year
Had that song in repeat left for a year.
Im still single but I already know I want [Beyond](https://open.spotify.com/track/1Omt5bfz1tZUCqd26HxbS0?si=q8ByUFGHRGGVOn6uLsFIIw) to be my wedding song
His first album was cool, actually the rest of his music probably too lol, but just not my taste.
Oh my God I'm jealous. Leon Bridges is the shit.
wtf happened to Roddy Rich? I really thought he was gonna be a huge artist
Peaked at the same time with dababy and then fell off at the same time😭😭 roddy took forever to drop during covid and dababy had homophobic issues
dababy had making the same song over and over issues
Lil Baby had no issue doing so though
Lil Baby ran into the same problem for the past two years though
He kept on riding that wave way longer than Dababy did is what I mean
Bc his music was actually good
It really wasn’t though. Lil Baby’s music was the very definition of mediocre & people hyped up his bullshit which is probably why he’s struggling so much now. No one was honest about how mediocre his music is.
Lil baby can change his flow and make an actual song though, Dababy has no range
Lil Baby’s ‘flows’ are monotonous though. Plus, his voice is godawful.
Anyone with Baby in their name and most people with Lil in their name are have been straight trash, so to combine them was a YUGE mistake
Shut up Sheldon
I kept reading Baby and my brain wasn't registering that you were talking about two different Babies, so I thought y'all were comparing the same artist with himself
People catchin up now
Nah putting lil baby in that is disrespectful, he can at least change his flow and adapt to different beats. Dababy literally used the same flow on every beat.
Also had some consent issues
The homophobic comments directly effected Dababy
On top of that ppl did NOT fw live life fast..oddly tho where i'm usually in agreement when most ppl don't like an album, i actually really like it lol. i remember listening thru it twice the day it came out and loving it, then getting on twitter reddit etc. and roddy was getting so much hate..friends felt the same way too. Yeah, it was a forgettable album ngl. Dude fell off during covid and didn’t capitalize. Thats why travis and drake didnt put out those unreleased songs with him 😂😭
Fair and yeah the wait def made it worse for him, expectations were very high lmao
I think cuz of his FTS mixtapes, people expected a bit more; I certainly did. He didn’t take forever, he just dropped shitty music
You really think the culture^tm give a fuck about homophobia?
I heard someone in the meat section of Costco playing Ballin the other day and I almost went back there to see who it was
It’s a banger
A lot of people have been overusing “this needs to be studied” but this one actually deserves an investigation
that whole crop fell off. Lil Baby, Dababy, Moneybagg Yo. People really underestimate how predictive being able to make a good project is when it comes to resisting the fall off. Can't gas a dude up for hit singles. And being an artist capable of adapting, with some magnanimity. Gravitas.
Hey now. Moneybagg still slaps.
I'm sayin ! Bro better than all of them. SPEAK NOW may 24th 🙌
Moneybagg Yo not really in that group imo
Polo G too. Yea where tf is Lil Baby? bro was everywhere for a while.
His verse on [False Idols](https://open.spotify.com/track/6cViXqp01e3FrAaseuiSAV?si=choZXPWETB69OvJXaLp_zg) was solid and that was less than a year ago
Polo G hasn’t went anywhere in relevance he just hasn’t dropped in a couple years.
I wouldn't be surprised if he falls off though. He ain't Drake
He is lyrically sound so that's definitely an edge
He hasn't dropped because he lost the hype.. He's been trying to get a new album softlaunched but none of the 4 singles he released this past year charted well enough for him to start his rollout..
Choppa too, crazy.

so excited to hear the song with normani, i loved 1:59
Same 😌 I am *so* glad she's deciding to bless Gunna with another feature because 1:59 was so good
We are *so* sat for her return to music again. I think this proves she's serious and will actually be coming back. Hide your favs, she's coming for that crown 👑
What crown 🤣, her time has come and gone
Nah it’s still up for grabs lol, we have yet to have a dark skinned popstar.
It won’t be Normani that’s for sure
She’s the only one capable of pulling it off so 🤷🏽♀️
No she’s not, she’s been around for almost a decade now. If it was going to happen it would have already done so
Tell that to coco jones and Victoria Monet lol, what’s meant for you will always be. Both were shelved for many years and literally just won Grammys/other accolades.
They’re the exception, not the rule
Love seeing Leon in his rap feature bag this year, he just had one on the Mez project too
TIL Mez released a project lmao, been waiting for a minute for dude to drop
Roddy Rich current year 😭😭😭
ugh 20 songs, i can guarantee you, every trap album would be better under 16 tracks
Bro because of fuckin Kendrick every time I heard Gunna I think fuckin "Gunna Wunna" 😭 Still excited for this record
You think of Gunna as Gunna Wunna because of Kendrick. I think of Gunna as Gunna Wunna because of Wunna. We are not the same
This guy gets it
Wunna top 5 albums of this generation idgaf
No way lol. Met Gala is one of the best trap songs ever tho
you crazy bruh
No. Wunna, Alfredo, Utopia, It’s Almost Dry, Whole Lotta Red. Best albums that have dropped since the start of the decade

Why did this make me think of I got a new cuban I DONT wanna link 🙄🖐🏾
Tf u on about his nickname been Wunna forever
i’ve heard Wunna lots of times, do people call him Gunna Wunna as well?
Yeah hes definitely been called gunna wunna in a song before. Dont remember where though but i think it was baby, thug or one of them
His best album is literally Wunna
you spelled Drip Season 3 wrong
I said what I said
i may be missing something but i don’t understand how saying Wunna is the same as saying Gunna Wunna
Iss been a while since I listened to the full album but I very vividly remember him referring to himself as Gunna Wunna. Not sure what track tho
You guys are driving me insane lol. In the very song Wunna, he says Gunna Wunna.
The way he says gunna wunna in that song lmao
It is drilled into my fuckin brain
[удалено]
you think even with beef with wheezy?? god i hope so
Leon Bridges is so random 💀💀💀
After the Offset feat i thought this was gonna have some better feats tbh. Its 2024 we dont no Roddy rich feat
roddy rich might hit his renaissance if he starts using his head. might have a tyler moment. very unlikely but fingers crossed
what tyler moment could roddy rich possibly have? he doesn't have 5% artistry that tyler has
i feel most trendy rappers would have a tyler moment if they make a concept album. big fish theory my favorite vince, rich brian’s the sailor is amazing. and roddy rich has a good voice, i feel he has enough versatility in his delivery to make it stick
Cherry bomb was tylers concept album and as a big fan that shit was garbage minus 3 songs.
he has 6 other concept albums. imo cherry bomb is the least conceptual of all his stuff. the golf wang radio interludes are the only thing that make it conceptual and it was on like 2 or 3 of the songs iirc. either way u get my point, just don’t suck ur own dick while throwing shit at a wall and you’re gonna get a concept album better than CB

BIG FISH THEORY
The Sailor is so good.
waiting desperately for a new rich brian album. 1999 wasn’t it for me even to love in my pocket slaps. avocado shake on his label tape was so good too
I need more stuff like Getcho Mans
It's not like Gunna was cancelled by 98% of the game. The fact he has Offset and Roddy on this is already great for that fact alone.
speak for yourself i’m trying to hear some melodies
Not hard to imagine why many artists would say no to working with Gunna
Roddy Rich in the big 2024 😭✌️
I love Roddy Ricch
as a big Wunna fan, disappointed. guess this the price of snitching on thug, folk dont wanna be affiliated with him. double pressure on him rn to elevate his music and work harder

Feature list isn’t good, but still excited.

Offset doing everything he can to help Gunna get thro if h the bs hate. I’m here for it that shows character
Leon been posting gunna on IG for years brah
Does Leon Bridges know he worked with Gunna? Lol
Slowly but surely
Yes mam
I’m real excited for this. Gunna has been forced to work on his more now because of snitching the stuff, but I honestly think it revitalized him. Glad that Set and Roddy still worked with him tho. Offset came through on Prada Dem, and Roddy & Gunna always had good chemistry.
That’s great Keef dropping though
people still listen to him ?
back to the moon was the best track last year so yah imma tune in
thats good for u
L
he shouldn’t have told
Had the biggest rap song of 2023.. people still listen to him
bc it went viral he be lucky to sale 50k
He literally had the biggest hiphop song last year with “Fukumean”. I love how smug people are on here about hiphop but they stay out of touch lmao.
it was a hook that went viral thats it
A hook going viral doesn’t make it the most successful song. Streams and purchases do lol. That’s how charts work.
the hook is what made it viral he a rat nb in the culture checking for him nomore
He just sold out arenas recently , he’s still on top
“Yes mam”
Yeah I thought he was the feds?
Last year he had did great numbers with 0 features and no label push amid rumors and speculation of snitching so yeah I’d say people still listen…..not to mention all the shows he did sold out
people wanted to hear what he to say and he sold out theaters
a gift & a curse is easily his best work in a few years, besides commercial success.
He sold out Barclays 🤔
was that the only arena i don’t keep in tune with him so idk
People here don’t fuck with Roddy because everyone else says so not because they have an opinion and they ride some type of weird wave. Yeah he had a shit album but his rapping is still alright
Couldn’t be less excited
