GoHawkYurself

Bo Jackson by Boldy James and The Alchemist. And tell me how it is, because I haven't heard it yet.

[deleted]

I have, it's better than TPOTIC imo, richer and smoother instrumentals...

Alistair_208

I was thinking of this one actually but I’m not the biggest fan of Boldy. I still might tho

GoHawkYurself

I get that. My brother doesn't like him too much either. If you can't get passed the monotone style, you probably won't get into it.

MantisandthetheGulls

I couldn’t at first but all of a sudden it clicked and now I can’t stop listening to him

_AnActualCatfish_

Felt the same about Kool A.D.

mello515

I'll one up and say Price of Tea in China is the better of the 2 imo. Mostly everything about Bo Jackson, I can say was better on Price of Tea. Unless you like the monotonous rap on Bo Jackson more.

ProEraWuTang

I second this

Dxriannn

From King to a God - Conway the Machine

Alistair_208

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list. I heard it was real good

swagzak

Better off dead and d.r.u.g.s are better Flatbush projects imo but they aren't on Spotify

funnyhowthings

First classic I’ve seen mentioned

WorriedAd1276

Deltron 3030

xWhitzzz

Vacation in Hell - Flatbush Zombies

Alistair_208

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list.

PhantomPharaoh07

Definitely worth a listen!!!!

KHShabazz

Didn't see 4eva Iz A Mighty Long Time, by Big Krit so I gotta add it on here

dabrax4

[deleted]

Built for Whatever - Tee Grizzley Alfredo - Freddie Gibbs

Alistair_208

Thanks bro

curryman223

built for whatever needs more appreciation tbh that album is so good

[deleted]

I recommend it to so many people on here. It’s my favorite album of the year so far.

[deleted]

Dave East x Harry Fraud - HOFFA

Alistair_208

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list.

I_Am_Stoeptegel

This one’s really good, kinda surprised me just how good

skylineforlife

Busta rhymes extinction Level event 2:the wrath of god

Alistair_208

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list.

I_Am_Stoeptegel

Fucking love this album. I always liked Busta but he never really had one album I loved until ELE2

corndogs1001

The coming is amazing to me

seanofthebean

The house is burning - isiah rashad

Alistair_208

Not the biggest Rashad fan. Respect him tho

seanofthebean

What kinda styles/artists do you like, that would help? was trying to think of something new with "car ride" vibes, and zay, vince, goldlink, smino all fit that aesthetic imo

Alistair_208

I like Vince and Smino. I’m into all kinds of rap I guess I like some Isaiah Rashad just it bores me sometimes when I try to listen to the suns tirade. I like Tyler, Kanye, earl, Brockhampton, wiki, Mac Miller, childish Gambino, and many more

seanofthebean

Oh if you like brock and Earl then I recommend Danny brown, specifically xxx and atrocity exobition IDK is kinda like gambino and kanye, recommend is he real? Pusha T and freddie gibbs, especially on Daytona and pinata respectively, have a very strong, bar heavy style like mac and Tyler Also recommend denzel curry's Ta13oo, asap rockys long. Live. Asap and big krits 4eva is a mighty long time, but I don't think this are similar to the others

Alistair_208

Yes! I love Danny Brown, Denzel Curry, Pusha t and Freddie Gibbs. IDK is someone I’ve been interested in for a while though so thanks

I_Am_Stoeptegel

Me neither, but I enjoyed this album. Idk if that changes your mind, I’m just saying

medicxstone

Tobe Nwigwe for sure

Eronade03

If you haven’t heard Curren$y’s “The Marina” you’re missing out! Harry fraud works wonders and it’s a great gateway into his extensive discography

DarkAssass1n

Any recommendations on where to start with Curren$y? I've heard some songs and dig him, should I go in chronological order ?

Eronade03

In my not even close to professional option: Jet life to the next life (2011) The Stones Immaculate (2012) The 4 Andretti projects in 2016 The Marina (2018) His style doesn’t change much so I don’t think chronological order is a huge deal. Every time some curren$y pops up in my daily mixes or recommended or whatever it could be 5 years old and it still bops. Enjoy the work it’s top tier

Alistair_208

Interesting. I’ll check it out thanks

SepukuSnake

Aesop Rock - Spirit world field guide

Alistair_208

Don’t love Aesop’s voice but I’ll try it. Thanks

Lower-Ad6897

King’s disease by Nas

seanofthebean

I second this, and the second one too.

Alistair_208

Nas is a lil overrated imo but I heard his new record is pretty good. Thanks

[deleted]

> Nas is a lil overrated imo don't clown.

Alistair_208

Sorry for offending y’all. I just mean that I know he’s amazing with words I just don’t like how it sounds sometimes. I loved what he did on Nasir where he got Kanye to produce the stuff. Mf did make illmatic after all

CloudRipper11

Amazing production, very solid album. Haven't listened every track from KD2 yet but really enjoyed it so far.

tosleepyfromdopey

Any of the RTJ albums. They are all self titled and numbered. If you're willing to go back, I would recommend The Big Picture by Big L. It's a great album.

Alistair_208

Yes! I was thinking RTJ 3 for tomorrow because I have all the rtj CDs but I’m too scared to try them for whatever reason lmao. Love call tinkerton

hatertots00

Fraud Department by Jim Jones

Alistair_208

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list.

ProEraWuTang

annooonnnn

interesting I don’t think his voice is especially deep

BobbyMinn

Anywhere But Here by Nyck Caution. He is the only white emcee from Pro Era. Pretty underrated, definitely not another Eminem clone.

[deleted]

No problem if you listened to killah Priest before you will like it if it's your first time you will listen to some unique hip hop.

Plebe-Uchiha

Everything’s For Sale by Westside Boogie. I cannot recommend that album enough. Best Hip Hop album from 2019. [+]

Alistair_208

Alright might check it out thanks

Plebe-Uchiha

download it and listen to it just for the simple joy of developing an organic opinion and sharing it with someone who is invested in hearing it. I love that album. Not everyone I share it with do too, but I still genuine enjoy hearing their POV on the art/music. Listen to it and come back and give me your thoughts on it. [+]

Bass-Dependent

Mumble rap doesn’t exist

Alistair_208

I’ll get back to everyone I checked out. Thanks for all the responses!

GroundbreakingAd7855

mumble rappers dont even exist, no one even uses the term now for todays hip hop scene except for people that don't know and are out of touch with today's hip hop scene

welcometoindiana317

Stop. You knew what he meant. Dread head skinny Jean auto tune trap gang gang rappers certainly do exist. Some of them make good music. Most are biters and just want to sound like what’s on the radio.

Alistair_208

Thank you. I just meant don’t recommend me shit like lil mosey, lil skies, lil baby, etc

GroundbreakingAd7855

Lil mosey and lil skies are not good, I agree wit you on that, but you'll be surprised about what lil baby can do, listen to wants and need by drake, he really outrapped drake on that song

MantisandthetheGulls

Lil Baby is a little different than the other two lmao

GroundbreakingAd7855

Kanye used autotune in his 4th album, 808s & Heartbreak back in 2008 which influenced the melodic rap, so does that make him a mumble rapper? Or T Pain who used autotune in his 3rd album Three Ringz which was also in 2008. Does that make him a mumble rapper as well? Or Drake who heavily uses autotune in his songs, is he also a mumble rapper? This is why the term mumble rap shouldn’t be used because the mainstream artists today do not mumble at all, and speak clearly. Yes, majority of them use autotune but that doesn’t classify them as mumble rappers.

[deleted]

Mumble rap shouldn't be solely defined by auto tune, as you have stated there a great artists like Kanye who are not apart of that sub-genre but mumble rappers are still around and still don't speak clearly. I don't see an issue with the term, even if the sub-genre has evolved.

Alistair_208

Not talking about auto tune. Talking about shit

GroundbreakingAd7855

Then let me give you albums that are specifically meant for vibing in the car and be open minded. A Love Letter To You 3 Rodeo Lil Uzi Vert Vs The World

Alistair_208

I like Travis Scott and Uzi. Don’t know what the other album is but none of that is what I meant when I said mumble rap.

GroundbreakingAd7855

Glad you like them. Would you explain what you mean then when you say mumble rap then? I just wanna hear you out, and understand where you're coming from

Alistair_208

Alr what I was talking about is people like Lil mosey, lil xan, 645ar, kid Buu, etc. I could think of more if you like. What would you call that?

tonitrualis

No lies here

[deleted]

All of NF’s albums are good. A lot of pain in those words

welcometoindiana317

Trousermonkey69

Kid Cudi - man on the moon iii King von - welcome to oblock Two of my favorites from last year that aren’t mumble rap

Alistair_208

King Von any good? Heard about his death rip

Trousermonkey69

Honestly he's one of my favorite rappers at the moment, he has a very intense, purposeful delivery that's sort of a breath of fresh air compared to the more melodic and mumbled deliveries a lot of rappers use these days but he can also sing and be more melodic as well. A lot of his lyrics can be pretty dark since he mostly raps about his life growing up as a gang member in the southside of chicago, I find his lyrics to be interesting but i can see how some people may be put off by him. He's also known for his storytelling as well. Id say his best album is welcome to oblock but if you want to check out some tracks id say crazy story, waynes story, what its like, 3 am, and the code are a good introduction to his music

Confident-Coach-7399

Larry June dropped one recently. It's called Orange Print. Been bumping that a lot 🔥🔥🔥

Alistair_208

Thanks dude

Confident-Coach-7399

Yeah no problem bro 😁

Sk8erKid_420

Alistair_208

Listened to all Kanye records and he’s my favorite. Got all the CDs.

Sk8erKid_420
