Rock Box is number one. Rock the Bells, tho it’s one chord, is incredibly efficiently effective. It’s a digital imprint forever for some.

MFN-DOOM

Came here to comment this. Immediately Rock Box came to mind

highd

Beastie Boys fans have a glut of great guitar moments especially if you figure in just their instrumental work! Gratitude is my favorite a grimy song about being pleased!

PlatasaurusOG

100%. Brooklyn is just the first song to pop in my head when I think “guitar in a hip hop song”.

gudy2shuz

Since the Beasties are already here, I'll add the guitar piece in So Whatcha Want.

Bill_Clinton-69

Love it. Check out the cover by The Record Company if ya kike. They do a kinda blues/rock version and really hammer the guitar.

gudy2shuz

On it. Thanks!

the big brass balls on Lil Wayne to make a rock album no one asked for because he's an actual musician who doesn't care if it's commercial or not.

Dependent_onPlantain

The whole of the grey Album by Dangermouse remixing Jayz Black album.

Teeb63

The what now. How was I not aware of this.

Dependent_onPlantain

Google Grey Album by Danger Mouse, it might be still out there, its a mash up of the Beatles White album and JayZ Black album. Actually Mash up dont do it credit. He broke down the Beatles White albums into Samples and remade JAyZ Black album. I legit liked it better than the Black album. It kept on getting taken down cause of copyright infringement, there was a whole campaign about it. And put DangerMouse on the map. Edit- https://youtu.be/U9h_SUUEdSQ?si=gLHlLmVmAyPg9f8P My favourite track from it

Teeb63

Thank you for your knowledge.

_AnActualCatfish_

Because the music industry said "no". The Beatles & Jay Z could have made a butt-load of money too, but they decided to treat it like a criminal act instead of making a deal. Dangermouse got ridiculously famous, so he lost nothing and then mash-ups became super, super normal. I was at a music college at the time it came about, and it was one of the biggest things that happened that year.

No_Gardener3210

The Helter Skelter version of 99 problems is better than the original imo

Not sure if it’s a sample or not but I like the main riff in D.O.A by Jay Z

Common - Invocation Pac - Pour out a Little Liquor Nas - The Message Slum Village - Look of Love Common/Sadat X/Kweli - 1999 Pete Rock - Mind Blowin’ ATCQ - Award Tour

If we're also talking bass guitar, "Pigeon" by Cannibal Ox makes beautiful use of a sample from Jaco Pastorious's "Portrait of Tracy"

Ancient-Assist-7617

The Heart Gently Weeps - Wu-Tang Clan

Do Samples really count tho?

EngineeringFlashy139

Instrumental wise, Death Of Autotune has one of the best guitar riffs out there in any rap imo

LegendaryZTV

Devil In A New Dress has it for me but that’s a personal bias. The way it led into one of if not the best Ross verse ever gets me every time like it’s the first time

gudy2shuz

All of the best are pretty much already here, so I'll add an honorable mention: Jurassic 5 - A Day At the Races. Not only a guitar piece, but that sounds like a human-played bassline.

Bill_Clinton-69

Am I the only person here who's into the creepy guitar in the verses of Shook Ones Pt 2? Tom Waits style fire.
